Wonder if they are incorporating some stuff from the Lord John book's. David seems to be on set a lot this season.

Diana posted three small excerpts from Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone. What do you think about these small moments she has shared with us?
Excerpt #1
Ian had come in quietly—_like an Indian_, Rachel thought—sometime past midnight, crouching by the bed and blowing softly in her ear to rouse her, lest he startle her and wake Oggy. She’d hastily checked the latter, then swung her feet out of bed and rose to embrace her husband.
“Thee smells of blood,” she whispered. “What has thee killed?”
“A beast,” he whispered back, and cupped her cheek in his palm. “I had to, but I’m no sorry for it.”
She nodded, feeling a sharp stone forming in her throat.
“Will ye come out wi’ me, mo nighean donn? I need help.”
She nodded again, and turned to find the cloak she used for a bedgown. There was a sense of grimness about him, but something else as well, and she couldn’t tell what it was.
She was hoping that he hadn’t brought the body home with the expectation that she would help him bury or hide it, whatever—or whoever—it was, but he had just killed something he considered to be evil and perhaps felt himself pursued.
Excerpt #2
“What was it your Mam said to your Da about this expedition?” Roger rolled up his breeches to mid-thigh, eyeing the wagon-wheel whose rim protruded from the burbling middle of a small creek.
“It’s too deep,” Brianna said, frowning at the rushing brown water. “You’d better take your breeches off. And maybe your shirt, too.”
“That’s what she said? Though she’s likely right about it being too deep…”
Brianna made a small, amused snort. He’d taken off his shoes, stockings, coat, waistcoat and neck cloth, and looked like a man stripped to fight a serious duel.
“The good news is that with a current like that, you won’t get leeches. What she said—or what she quoted herself as having said, which isn’t necessarily the same thing—was:
‘You’re telling me that you mean to turn a perfectly respectable Presbyterian minister into a gun-runner—and send him in a wagon full of dodgy gold to buy a load of guns, in company with your eleven-year-old grandson?’”
“Aye, that’s the bit. I was expecting it to be more fun…” Reluctantly, he shucked his breeks, tossing them onto the shoes and stockings. “Maybe I shouldn’t have brought you and the kids. Germain and I would have had a great adventure by ourselves.”
Excerpt #3
I did wonder just how Roger proposed to follow Captain Cunningham’s act. The congregation had scattered under the trees to take refreshment, but every group I passed was discussing what the Captain had said, with great excitement and absorption—as well they might. The spell of his story remained with me--a sense of wonder and hope.
Bree seemed to be wondering, too; I saw her with Roger, in the shade of a big chinkapin oak, in close discussion. He shook his head, though, smiled, and tugged her cap straight. She’d dressed her part, as a modest minister’s wife, and smoothed her skirt and bodice.
“Two months, and she’ll be comin’ to kirk in buckskins,” Jamie said, following the direction of my gaze.
“What odds?” I inquired.
“Three to one. Ye want to wager, Sassenach?”
“Gambling on Sunday? You’re going straight to hell, Jamie Fraser.”
“I dinna mind. Ye’ll be there afore me. Askin’ me the odds, forbye… Besides, going to church three times in one day must at least get ye a few days off Purgatory.”
I nodded.
“Ready for Round Two?”
Roger kissed Brianna, and strode out of the shade into the sunlit day, tall, dark and handsome in his best black—well, his only black suit. He came toward us, Bree on his heels, and I saw several people in the nearby groups notice this, and begin to put away their bits of bread and cheese and beer, to retire behind bushes for a private moment, and to tidy up children who’d come undone.
I sketched a salute as Roger came up to us.
“Over the top?”
“Geronimo,” he replied briefly and with a visible squaring of the shoulders, turned to greet his flock and usher them inside.

I am so ready for Bees, too! 📙🐝🐝🐝
Quotable quotes with Geordie
requested by @pissedoffsoka13
I miss Geordie, he was wonderful and made me laugh! It would have been nice to see Jamie explain to him who Claire was.
Frank doesn't have to do shit to me for me to know he's a shitty character. Claire wasn't great in their relationship either, but that doesn't excuse his actions. So sick of people woobie-fying Frank and trying to make him sympathetic. Sometimes an awful character is just awful.
I'm sick of all the negativity in this fandom. Send me unsolicited negative call out opinions on annon again and I will block first ask questions later. Only warning.
I don't care much for Frank, he made bad choices for sure. But I also remember that he is a victim in this story. He deserves criticism, but sometimes I feel like this fandom hates him more then Uncle Black Jack and that's just messed up. He is a part of the story and I very much like what the show is doing with his character. Fleshing him out and showing him through Bree's eyes.
Also killing him off was a cheap fix it move on Diana's part. There I said it.
3 new characters have been discovered! See the actors playing off of the Frasers....
Yasssss! Bugs and Beardsley's!
The casting crew is absolutely phenomenal. These characters are so much like what i imagined them in the books im shocked!
What time can tell …
אַהֲבָה – ahava – Hebrew – generous love
The root of this Hebrew word is “to give.” It shows love as a thing that is to be given, not kept for oneself. It implies that giving is a condition that creates and sustains love.
What are some fics that you feel best express this type of love?

Hi everyone. I know ive been gone for a while. I started a new job that leaves me with very little free time so I haven't been able to dedicate much time to tumblr. But I have a vacation! For 2 weeks! so im coming back! At least for a bit. Then life will take over again. But im going to try and stay at least a little bit more active than i have been in the past several months especially with season 5 coming up. Im really excited to catch up and see all the upcoming new content!
Jamie pictured with (in order) the 3 most important people in his life (apart from his children, of course).
Claire - his wife, partner, soul, confidante.
Murtagh - his guardian, adviser, clansman.
John Grey - his friend, his son’s father, the man who always has his back.
I just started watching outlander (mostly because your posts about it have been BLOWING up my feed lmao), but I was wondering if you had a fav season or episode I can look forward to? I'm on s1e6 now.
Maybe I should say sorry for BLOWING up your feed? But i’m not hahaha
My favorite season is the first but the second is very good too.
So my favorite ep in season 1 is The wedding because it’s just a beautiful
and because they really get to know each other for the first time and I think her dress is beautiful and the fact that Jamie makes him make a ring so quickly … it’s beautiful. I think Jamie is very romantic and cute when he says he wants to get married once and he wants it to be perfect. He wants his mother to be proud of him.
and for season 2 … probably the first ep Through a Glass, Darkly or the last one Dragonfly in Amber.
The ep 1 is for… SPOILER…all the beggining when you are back in 1948 and you are as sad as Claire because you don’t even what the hell happended but my fav moment of this ep is when Frank
I got chills EVERYTIME this moment is GOLD!
And the last one is heartbroking but verry beautiful
I think I only watch season 3 for Jamie and John. I really REALLY love John and is character is SO interesting and is relatioship with Jamie is close to Jamie and Claire
Sorry you ask me on season and one episode hahaha So I would say Season 1 and fav episode is The Wedding. And I think the first two seasons are the best. The thirdseason was very hard because they are separate for the most part of the season. But like a said, John Grey was my favorite character of the season. I would be happy to talk about him with more ppl cause I think he is the man who help Jamie to survive and started his new life without Claire. If Jamie had not known John, I do not think he would have survived
Claire and John marriage for me is one of the lowest moments from the books. I hated it. I would love to read your thoughts about this.
SPOILERS FOR THE LATER BOOKS
—
When I started reading the Outlander books back in 2005, over on the now-defunct Compuserve forum was a snippet Diana Gabaldon had published in the late 1990s - a brief passage where it was very clear that Claire had married Lord John because Jamie was dead.
I wasn’t happy with the fact that Jamie was dead - but I also trusted DG to come up with a very good reason for why this all had happened.
So she’d been cooking the idea for a while. And the larger reading fandom (because, remember, there was no series back in 2009 when An Echo In The Bone was published) was generally aware that this would likely happen.
I was prepared to actually read it - it was fascinating to see it on the page. Along the lines of, oh finally we’re there!
Personally I love this plotline. It shows the depth of love Lord John has for both Jamie and Claire, that he would walk in Jamie’s footsteps and marry Claire to protect her. And that Claire would understand exactly why it had to be done - just as she did when she married Jamie.
Think about it - there’s nobody else Claire has known for as long. Nobody else she trusts with her life. Not to mention that Lord John genuinely likes her and respects her - she knows that he won’t interfere with her life, give her the same freedom to practice her healing and go about her business. He won’t make her wear a cap on her head. He’ll provide a home for her, and care for her, and support her and protect her.
Doing this for Claire was Lord John’s way to do right by Jamie. To do this service for him.
The fact that they (very drunkenly) sleep together is, to me, a “why the hell not” situation. To make their marriage legal, for starters. And then, I think, a genuine curiosity. For there is nobody else on Earth with whom they can speak so freely. With whom they can mourn the man they both love more than their own life.
This is such a fascinating plot in the story and I’m glad that DG gave these very complex characters yet another layer of complexity. It makes their relationships with each other all the more interesting as we move forward in the story.
Yes, yes, yes! I agree with everything you say here @gotham-ruaidh! I too love the John and Claire marriage; it shows their connection beyond Jamie, even though he is the catalyst for it, they enjoy, respect, and even love each other in their own way.
There are a few more things that I think wonderfully play into this marriage that I’ll add.
It helps to cement Claire’s relationship with William. She has never held his parentage against him, but here she is able to get to know him and love him for his own self, and not because he is simply Jamie’s son. We see their relationship play out through MOBY in small moments, and it’s obvious William cares for her in much the same way.
I think the marriage also works because John is one of the few, if not the only, other person who would mourn for Jamie in the same capacity as Claire. To not have to worry about someone trying to push her beyond her grief is a great comfort and I believe a factor that played into her agreeing to the marriage.
Overall, it may be an odd situation, but it makes sense and I loved it.
Coming from a different perspective (Lord John series fan) I liked it. I think their marriage because allowed for a genuine friendship between Claire and Lord John to grow. They build a relationship of their own, one that’s not mediated by Jamie’s presence (or absence, in this case). They get to know each other for who they truly are, not who they are in connection to Jamie. As others have pointed out, they can be truly open with each other. They’ve known each other for decadesand they know each other’s deepest secrets. Marriage brings another level of intimacy to their relationship.
Also, it shows massive character growth from Claire re Lord John. In A Breath of Snow and Ashes Claire says she’s afraid Lord John is raising William because he’ll grow to resemble Jamie, and then possibly try to seduce him? It’s an awful thing to say —unintentionally or not, it hints at the gay men as sexual predators trope. I can’t begin to understand what DG was thinking. Later on the same book she says something similar re Bobby Higgins —Lord John sent Bobby to be healed by Claire so he can have him. To go from there to a relationship of mutual respect, care, openness and affection feels very positive indeed. Their marriage only brings them closer and allows them to become true friends.
I wondered about this also for a bit but then I remembered she was from the 40s and pregnant women drank then too.
Who else is stoked about seeing Roger Mac in a tricorn next season??
Aye, that’d be me!
Until the White Sow finds it 🤷🏻♀️ 🐖
“My mother always said men in tricorns were irresistible.”
Only have to wait a year…
am I going to start writing Lord John Grey fanfiction?
probably.
🙌🏻🔥🙌🏻🔥🙌🏻🔥🙌🏻
ya’ll are incredible. so supportive!!!
if you have any prompts? nuggs? ideas? i’m game to try! i’ve never really written fan fiction before.
the ask box is open.
Fluffy John/Percy? Angsty post-Culloden John mourning Hector? AU where Hector lives? Wish fulfilllment where Jamie finally learns that same-sex love is equal to hetero love and accepts ALL of John the way he is?
☝☝☝☝☝☝☝☝
PLEASE
Also really any long term healthy relationship.
Or John’s mother or Hal find out (Or already know) about his sexuality and an exploration of their feelings about it.
John finds out about time travel, and goes to the stones to see if he can hear them too. He can, and ends up traveling, having adventurers in the future and falling in love. Maybe he even runs in to future Claire/Bree.
^^ Is it weird that I was thinking of almost that exact same premise a couple days ago? Is this corner of fandom developing a hive mind? lol
Well I do feel this corner has gotten more tight knit from season 4! I’ve had this in mind tho for awhile. I would love to see John at a pride event too! Or on a sadder note have Claire and John go together around book 8 events.
Yes! I want to see John at pride . I want him to know that he isn't strange and that it is possible for him to be accepted as he is without needing to hide anything.
