Unlikely friendships
The heat of the fire around Reaver was intense⌠Heâd never experienced the heat of holy fire before, though the ache of the binding runes were very familiar. This fucking bites..  He watched in horror as the god tried to summon the demon that The angel had been hunting for so long, however something strange happened when the summon took place.. Nothing
The demon Rhyzkahl did not appear as he should have. âYou idiot Apollo! You shouldnât be messing with the dealings of Angels. You donât know how to deal with demons.â
âShut up Angel.â Apollo cursed and turned to the human who did the summoning. âExplain to me why you humans cannot even summon a fucking demon?â The god extended his arm and fried the priest closest to him with the heat of the sun itself.
When the demon walked in, with a haughty arrogance Apollo spun on his heel and stared Rhyzkahl right in the eyes. âSo like a fucking prick you came in through the back door.â He saw one of his priests hiding behind Rhyzkahl like a child and laughed. âSo this human is how you did it. Was living in my service not enough for you? Did I not bless you with everything you desired for your service?â A soft curse and the other priest went up in smoke. âI guess you canât trust humans with anything now a days. Letâs see if my other friends can live up to their names.â He turned to Simon and the other men who had their weapons brandished. âWell, I promised you a demon, and a demon you have.â
Reaver watched the interchange, all the while trying his best to get his hands free. The gold binds on his wrists were starting to soften⌠these humans were far too thorough in their means to secure him. Gold is still gold after all.  However there was still a darkness in the air that wasnât coming from the demon. Something was wrong. The humans were not doing as Apollo said⌠no they were just standing there.
Simon, the male with the tattoos, stepped forward and shoved a syringe with a silvery liquid into the Godâs neck, while several men surrounded Rhyzkahl with crossbows aimed. âActually, we will take great pleasure in wiping all three of you from the face of this planet. â
Apollo was taken aback a this statement, no human had ever talked down to him like that.. all over his body began to go numb. âWhat.. What did you do you stupid human!â
âItâs a sedative made with ambrosia and other ingredients. Donâ worry, unfortunately you wonât feel a thing.â Apollo then realized the mistake he made, hiring these humans he heard about from a Trillah demon. With his last bit of strength Apollo let the glow under his skin become as bright as the sun, blinding everyone around him, using the distraction to escape.
Simon shrugged and tilted his head.. âCestâ La Vie, weâll get him another day. The real prizes are here. A demon lord, and a false angel.â
At that Reaver piped up. âFalse! Is that what you think I am?!â
âYes, angels donât exist. So you and this demon are going to die at our hands, just like thousands before you.â
âGood luck with that!â a soft clink and the bonds on his wrist fell to the floor, they had warmed enough to be molded. However, that still left the conundrum of holy fire.. and his wings. âYou are going to have a one on one with Satan for these crimes you idiot human.â It wasnât good enough. This was still not an ideal situation. He couldnât access his heavenly powers with the band on his neck or wings..
Reaver looked to the demon, all this time he had been silent⌠and that band on his wrist. This was no ordinary situation.Â

Though Rhyza acted as if  he was uninterested in the happenings that were going on around him, he really saw everything. Heâd been around just about as long as the gods had and they never changed. He walked around even with the weapons being pointed at him. He actually placed his back to the fire. He was waiting of course. His ice blue eyes missed nothing. He saw the weapons, heard the slight speech differences, the tattoos. The only reaction he had was a mere eye brow raise when they called the one in the ring of fire a false angel.Â
He shielded his eyes when surprise surprise Apollo fled to save his own skin. Of course these humans obviously did not know their history or curses.â Well be thank-ful we only got a mild blinding as opposed to the fiery inferno that would have ensued had you killed the god of the sun. As much as I would have liked to have seen it myself, it would have not ended well for any of us.â As he spoke the weapons had closed in around him. These humanâs expressions were so smug, so full of triumph. One of his own smiles graced his lips. He saw them hesitate just for a second. Rhyza had heard the gold binding fall, that the Angle had worked free. His ice blues turned to look at the Angle to show that knew. â Just for your sake, I would keep your hands behind your back for at least a little while longer. Things are about to get ..chillyâ Another smile graced his face as he turned and held out his hand that had the metal bracelet on the wrist.âwelcome to the party my chaotic ladyâ His movement spooked some of the people ones holding the weapons at him. A few fired sticking Rhyza in the side with one and grazing him with another. Those two were flung against the wall and frozen. A cold chilling breeze flew through the room. And a dark husky voice came from the shadows of the room. â No one messes with my chaos lovers.â
The men who were encircling Rhyza turned to the new presence and found themselves frozen where they stood to. She walked more like floated over to the Demon Lordâs side inspecting the arrow. She tisked and brought a hand up to his cheekâ Oh my dark lord shall I incinerate the one who did this or do you wish to.â Rhyza rose a brow at her as he wrapped an arm about her slim waist. She leaned into his chestâ Oh my sweet Rhyzkahl I knew you were not exactly what we lead the others to believe. We just gave them information and let them fill in the blanks.â She looked to the ring of fire and her eyes flashed red and her fangs extended as the building shook and she hissedâ What is that doing hereâ Rhyza looked to the Angle with amusement,  and turned her face towards him. â An unfortunate fly caught in anotherâs web. We can deal with that later. Right now we have someone to  get some information from, or I do anyway. They knew my name and how to summon me, which means they have another Lord possibly or just got lucky.â He turned her away from the Angle for now. He turned his hand towards the fire and it changed to blue. It was no longer hot and holy but it would serve the purpose. â Now then let us find the mouse with tattoos.
Reaver looked on, he wasnât horrified by what he saw, he knew this would happen the moment the demon was summoned. As Apollo fled, the angel didnât blink, when he was first recruited he was part of Urielâs army, that man could burn an entire continent if he so chose to, the light of his father was much more powerful than a child of Zeus.
When the demon spoke to him, it only took seconds to realize what was going to happen. A chill ran over his skin, one that was all too familiar. Eris. He hissed and stepped back further into the circle, trying to keep hidden from the goddess.
Keeping hidden however would be slightly more difficult than expected, one of the humans that she froze in her fury was right near his circle, and the cold put out some of the flames by the corpse. It was enough to let him out, but that band around his throat still needed work.
Hoping the goddess of discord wouldnât notice him, the angel crept over towards the flames. He held back his long dark hair and placed his throat near the fire. The burns hurt like a mother, but he would survive. He needed to be able to draw his sword, so he could find that human and put a stop to this before it got worse.
Erisâ voice echoed in his ears.. shit. He turned, the band was soft now⌠maybe he could get it off and wait this out. âYou know damn well Iâm not a thing Eris, is that any way to treat a long lost lover?â When the demon turned away the open spot in the flames reignited, though this time they were blue. They were not as hot, and the powers keeping him inside were gone. Huge mistake.
Reaching up, the angel tugged on the band pulling it off slowly with blood dripping from his neck. The metal stretching distorting the runes and freeing his power. As the wounds he inflicted upon himself healed, Reaver slipped out of the flames. Nothing could hold an angel except for the holy fire he was in.
The image on his arm moved and distorted slightly, and the sword slid out from his skin like a bone only to rest in his palm. He should kill the demon in front of him, especially since he wasnât noticed yet, but he was too curious about what the humans had learned.
Fuck it. He darted past the demon and Eris, chasing after the human where he knew he went, but not before leaving a kiss on Erisâ cheek. Only because he knew it would royally piss her off. âWeâll have to leave our reunion to another time Eris darling.â He ran backwards his sword over his shoulder, âAs for you demon, I will see you in about 20 minutes. Adieu.â
Reaver could feel the punishment from heaven already. Well⌠May as well go for broke. Using his senses he found the human, he was in another part of the ruins. Using his speed, Reaver caught up to the human in no time. He disappeared down a set of stairs in another temple. He put his sword away for just a moment, stepping down the marble staircase into the darkness. Since his assention into heaven, it was much easier to see in the dark than it was when he was human.
There was only one problem now⌠he did not want to see what he saw.
Below in the darkness he could not find the human Simon, instead he found a horrible zoo. Demons in cages, bound with their weaknesses. Many of them minor and no trouble to humans or angels. He donned a glamour to hide himself from the demons, and any humans that may be down here.
âWhat have they done down here.â This was why Reaver was called the next Lucifer, not because he hated humans. No The exact opposite.. He loved the humans just as god had requested of the angels before the fall of Lucifer, but he cared for the undesirables too, the ones that inhabited the world before His father had put the humans on it. The fae, Demons, humans, Reaver cared for them all. It was only when he found that there were creatures out there harming the innocent that he would strike. This sight⌠pained him. He stepped up to the glass of one of the tanks, inside was a mermaid. There was a scar along her throat that showed her voice box had been removed. These evil humans couldnât even tell the difference between a Siren and a Mermaid.
He pressed his hand and his head to the glass and a tear fell down his cheek. âI will not stand for this.â
âDemetri?â
That voice was familiar⌠one he would never forget. âYinrieth?â the angel ran down the hall and found the source of the sound. Yinrieth⌠an angel who had been missing from heaven for years now, they had given up the search. âYinrieth! We thought you were dead my friend!â Through the bars Reaver could see the state his friend was in clearly now. Death would be a welcome.
Inside the cage Yinrieth was⌠There are no words to describe the state. A wing was in one corner, an arm in another. His once blond hair was torn out on the ground and he was missing skin in areas. âWhat have they done to you?â
âYou have to leave.â Yinriethâs voice was low and raspy, his hand covered a hole in his throat.
âNot without you my friend. Raphael can heal you, we can get you back to heaven.â
âI will be with father again soon enough without you.. Please they can not capture another of us.â
âWhat do you mean another? They have captured others of our kind?â
âYes. Fallen, unfallen. These humans show no care for any of fatherâs children.â
âHow many?â
âHundreds of unfallen, they are the easiest to take once you find them. Fallen are easily summoned. Â Demetri you need to leave. Now before they find you.â It was too late, Reaver was already pulling at the bars with all the strength he could muster trying to free his friend. Â âthey have angelic runes on the bars, they wonât break.â
âI sai not without you.â But it was no use. He needed to find a key to break the lock. Â âI will return, do not die on me Yinrieth.â
Reaver sprinted down the hall, searching for some way to get into the cage with his friend inside. He passed hundreds of creatures, Fae, wargs, Vampires, demons. All in similar states to Yinrieth. What were these humans doing⌠When he returned to the heavens he would bring Nathanael back and rain the fire of God down on this miserable place.
When he heard voices he stopped, and hid in a small alcove. He brought his sword back into the open waiting for the source to come near. If he was lucky it would be Simon and he could take his vengeance upon the human. Father would understand.
Though seemingly calm and almost uninterested in what was happening around him, his mind on the other hand was running through which one of the other 11 lords it could be. Heâd pissed more than his share off, plus there was Apollo. His mouth quirked up into a quick smile. He really did love pissing that flame boy off.  His brow did raise in a quizzical look as he noticed the slight shift in the Angel and near hissing venom from Eris. He held his arm around the chaos goddess as the Angel spoke back at her. He hadnât intended to keep the Angel in, on the contrary, he wanted him to make a break for it. He had a feeling the Angel knew some of what was going on and he planed for him to lead him to where he might find the source. As much as he hated to admit it, they might be on the same team. That  thought left a bad taste in his mouth.  Not to mention the smell of the blood he just smelled.
Eris had been running he hand along the wounded side of Rhyza, it slowly healed with her touch as she cupped his cheek.â Is a lover, even a lost one, just a thingâ She hissed. Rhyza chuckled and bent down to kiss her cheek.â Toys will be toysâ Speaking of toys, he didnât like the feel of the one the Angel just called. A laugh actually left his lips though as the Angel ran by and kissed Eris who screamed and stomped her foot in irk which made the building they were in and the rest of the frozen human shatter. She sent a god bolt flying after him. Rhyza sent him a salute. She went to send another god bolt flying but he stopped her. pulling her to him. âEris, my chaos loving queen, As much as I love watching you destroy annoying flies that irritate you and just because, I, sadly, need to find the human and have this building not crumble on top of him to find out whats going on, and who snitched on me. Once I find that out I will gladly let you reduce this place to ruinâ He lifted his hand to curl in one of her locks around his finger. â Also you might want to get to shine boy before he says something heâll regret.â Eris had turned to glare at him for stopping her, but as usual he had a point. She pouted up at himâ Â For being my chaotic lord you do seem to speak logically and sometimes curb my wild charms. But you are right, I wouldnât want to lose one of my best chaos causers Iâve had in centuries.â She patted his chest.â Alright go and find your information and tell me the minute I can demolish it. Iâll go play with fire.â With that she flashed out. Now alone, Rhyza let the hold he kept on his powers down. He needed some answers and he needed a few things. He summoned a fog looking demon with fangs to him. â Collectâ He simply told it and it split into half a dozen more and they began scouring the floors and walls. He needed to know which other Lord he might be dealing with. Why had those tattoos looked familiar, those weapons, the ritual, the bindings. His eyes narrowed.
A syrza appeared next to him. â The books lordâ He took them.â Haan, what do you know of what Shass is picking up.â The fog, Shass, came back then and made gargling and popping noises. Haan bent to listenâ Heavenly Angel, Greek Goddess, Shards of human, Hunters.â Haan tilted his head in almost a bird like manner. â Kaizenâ Rhyza muttered something. â That would explain why they knew things they shouldnât and why the tattoo was familiar. â Something still wasnât clicking. â You are dismissed Shass. Haan, I need you to go do some digging. Iâm almost late for a meetingâ Haan bowed and disappeared. Rhyza closed his eyes and focused on the ash that his  blue flame had left on the Angel and on the tattoo that linked the human to Kaizen. Shielding himself he phased into the chamber. He wasnât expecting the sights he saw, all the creatures, even ones from their realm. His eyes red, he caught a glimpse of the Angel. He was going to make himself known when he too heard the voices. He was early, he had about 5 minutes.
â Oh you mean this fun toy. He laughed â But bedrooms are so normal.â He rose a brow
He couldnât help but laugh. Thatâs not what he meant! âYes, sure. That fun toy. Bedrooms is brothel like. Or do you prefer I build you a dungeon instead? Keep you in a tower, maybe?â
âHow about you just call it Rhyzaâs fun house of horrors. Since all of it sounds greatâ
â I do have impeccable taste.â He laughed â$100 just a hundred, I can make that simply by leaning on a building and just staring out into the distance.â
âYeah, but that wouldnât be for my amusement.â
âSo there is that. So no, you need to work for it. Sexually. In a bedroom. Iâll allow fun toys though. Iâm not that heartlessâ Oh yes he was, but he liked toys, so fuck it.
â Oh you mean this fun toy. He laughed â But bedrooms are so normal.â He rose a brow
â Well playedâ He grinnedâ But I am rather expensive and have very picky and well you know how I workâ
âOh I know, you are very picky. and your taste is impeccable. But you are my whore, so, how would 100$ a night sound. Iâll go fetch some trash off the street.â
â I do have impeccable taste.â He laughed $100 just a hundred, I can make that simply by leaning on a building and just staring out into the distance.â
â Of course there are loopholes in everything. So in that case are you sure you want me to be âyourâ whore for life.âÂ
âOf course. But if you areMY whore that means I could do with you as I like. Including renting you out, no?â

Stealth was needed now. Reaver Collendale, general of the 9th garrison of Heavanâs army was walking through the streets of Athens alone. Though he was rarely so, today he was. He had gotten a tip from a contact that there was a demon wreaking havoc on the city, and it was his job to put an end to it.Â
It was hard to pinpoint where this demon would emerge next.. The angel wished that he could have brought his team in on this.. but he couldnât. Part of his intel was that this was a demon lord, and that was something that he could not endanger his friends with.Â
Dressed in casual attire, a light blue collared shirt with a pair of white pants. traditional with the typical menâs wear of the time, no one would know who he truly was. He looked harmless all together, unless you saw his right forearm. there rested the image of an elegant looking sword, Arabian in nature, a blade so precious to him, Reaver made sure it never left his side.Â
Something caught his attention and he followed it down the way. Technically his being here was against the treaty with the gods, but he had followed this demon through the centuries and he wasnât about to give up now. Time was malleable to their kind, and this demon has been all over creation.Â
A female came out of an apothecary with the ingredients for a summons of epic proportions. This had to be how the demon comes into the human world. Not a moment to soon. Zeus is going to have a field day if he finds out Reaverâs in his daughters home, it didnât matter if the humans had no idea the gods of old still held power over the area.
It was almost time. Rhyza grinned as sat on his black throne. He stood and walked out to the balcony, clawed feet clicking on the black floor, tail swishing back and forth as he crossed his arms and over looked his part of the demon realm. His fanged grin only spread as he mentally reviewed where he would be getting summoned to this time. Ah yes, Athens. The Gods hadnât quite figured out that he wasnât what they thought he was. That since no one really worshiped him, he was of no consequence. That he was just some chaos demon made by a god that had been long sense forgotten. Â His grin only widened as a chuckle escaped him. He turned and stood in the center of an elaborate design inlaid in the floor and waited for the familiar pull.
======= Human Realm====== She was late. He knew that they had needed more herbs this time to mask the power of what they were doing. He had already gotten the circle drawn. His robes flowed behind him as he paced. Maybe this would be the day he would finally be granted what he had sought so many years ago.  He might have one of the priests of Apollo but that didnât mean than that honor alone. His lord had seen that, had seen that he could have so much more. recruiting another of the priestesses, they had become his lords summoners, bringing him to this realm, so that one day he might bestow upon them their own powers and they could break free of Apollo. He gave a grin at the thought of being ranked among the gods. He was taken from his thoughts as the woman returned with the herbs. Setting them up in pots around the room and set some of them on fire. These herbs would help mask the amount of energy that they were going to need to draw into the circle. Taking up their posts on either side of the circle, they started to draw on the essence of the Earth channeling it into the circle. The chalk lines began to glow with the energy and when it reached itâs peak the Priest called out his lords name. RHYZKAHL  The fires went out in the room as there was a burst of power. Then a shadowed figure stood from the center of the circle. Looking human except for the long sapphire hair. â Ah yes well done pets you are getting very good at this.â
Reaver had watched the female make her way through the city, eventually going inside an old temple in the ruined portion of the city, one only visited by historians, archaeologists and those who still practiced the old ways.
Now he chose to hide himself from the eyes of the mortals, for one who was not born an angel this was a difficult feat for long periods of time, but Reaver did what he had to do to make sure he wouldnât be seen. Shrugging off the shirt he was wearing, Barely a wince crossed his face as his wings burst from his back. Large and shimmering they did not appear to have a color, they seemed almost clear with a dark iridescence to them. The wings of each of his kind were different, displaying not only their rank, but their inner most soul. Most of his kind believed Reaverâs to be almost as Luciferâs before he fell, so he kept them hidden most of the time. The angel didnât generally give a flying fuck on whether or not anyone gave him shit for his wings, or called him the new Fallen Star, but it got old after a while.
He spread his wings and beat them a few times to get them warmed up, the wind causing a few hats to fly off some tourists in the area. Then he was air born, and there was a look of bliss on his face. He loved flying. The bliss however was short lived as he landed on the roof of the temple, his wings returned inside his body and he looked down, taking stock of the people inside.
There was quite a few of the humans in there, they all seemed reasonably normal. Odd considering who they were summoning. One stood out however, He had sandy blond hair and what seemed like almost translucent skin. Apollo.. Shit. Reaver thought to himself. This wasnât good. If Apollo was here there was something else going on than just a bunch of humans fucking up and summoning a demon lord. This was bigger than he thought, He should call reinforcements. A god was more than this angel could handle, general or not.
Then he saw them, humans, dozens. All armed to the teeth with weapons that humans should not have. Reaver was lost in the moment, staring at the humans moving around forming circles that humans should not know how to make. âWhere did they get all this information? Apollo what have you been teaching them.â Reaver whispered to himself. He watched as a human with a multitude of tattoos on his skin walk over to the god an point upwards whispering something in his ear. Apollo turned to Reaver and he froze. Shit. The illusion that Reaver had over him worked on humans, but not always on the supernatural like gods. Â
He extended his wings and tried to take off, but someone had his leg. Pulling him down with the force no human could muster, throwing him to the floor in the temple. The force of the fall twisted one of his wings so it bent awkwardly. Reaver stood up as quickly as he could, but Apollo was there again waiting to shove him back down. The sun godâs skin was hot and left welts on Reaverâs bare chest. They healed as quickly as they had formed, but it still wasnât pleasant.
âWhat are you doing here Child of Yaweh.â Apollo used the old name for his Father. They were always very petty and cranky that the humans had chosen to follow his father instead of the old gods.
âThat is none of your business Apollo..â
Apolloâs bare foot ground into Reaverâs twisted wing, singeing the feathers and making the angel hiss. âIt is since your kind are not allowed in these lands. You are breaking the treaty.â
âAnd how would the mighty Zeus feel about you summoning a demon of my kind into your realm?â this made the sun god anger more, his clothes smoking under the heat of the skin.
âSilence. What do you care, Iâm helping with your crusade. I will be wiping this Rhyzkhal from the face of the realms, making one less for you to hunt down.â
âYou have no idea how demons work. When they die they just go to Hades to be reborn again, When was the last time you spoke to your uncle? Honestly, I hate when idiot godsââ he couldnât finish his insult when Apollo set his wing on fire.
âSilence, Iâll send you down there with this demon for intruding on my business.â
Sweat had bloomed on his brow from the pain, but Reaver never once cried out. âIâd like to see you try.â
âSimon, take him to the circle. An angel would be a good lure if the summons donât work.â The tattooed male picked Reaver up by the wings, something no human should be able to do. This was very strange. Simon wrapped Reaverâs wings in a gold band with sealing runes on them, the kind used to seal angels when they fell. Then wrapped another around his throat. The gold runes burning his throat.
Humans should not be able to disable Angels like this. These were heavily guarded secrets.. Reaver struggled but there was little he could do, his tie to the heavens had been cut off. He was helpless as they bound his hands and feet, tossing him into the corner. Around him a ring of holy fire burst to life. How could humans know all of these rituals.. Something was wrong.
âNow continue with the summons. Two annoying birds with one stone.â Apollo stated, smugly
Rhyza rolled his shoulders and stretched his arms to brush off the last residual effects of the summoning off. His hair black, fell to about the middle of his back, his blue eyes still the color of ice. He wore a Greek Chifton and laced up leather pants and leather boots on his feet. His arm was already outstretched as the woman ran to his side, looking up at him with adoring eyes. His other hand coming up to curl a finger under her chin, searing her with his blue eyes, â You have learned and done well my pet. I barely felt a thing this timeâ She smiled and beamed at his praise and leaned into his touch as he stroked her chin and throat. The priest folded his arms in an almost impatient move, but he knew better than to appear that way when the Lord was about. He did however make a sound â that is only because we had to retrain the last one because you killed them.â
Rhyza rolled his eyes to the priest â Indeed, and how are the preparations going on your end for eventual dream. To take a certain Godâs spot. Everything lined up is it.â He ran a hand down the girls back as he spoke, but then it stopped as something very off. He summoned a silver bracelet around his wrist as an intricate pattern began to glow on his arm. His jaw ticked and his eyes narrowed as he felt the familiar tingle of his skin of someone trying to summon him. However, it was more the who that had him looking into the womanâs eyes as he tore her heart out from her back through her chest, letting her drop to the floor. He turned his attention to the priest, still holding the heart. The priest gasped and his hands dropped to his side as he sank to his knees.â Wh-Why Mâlord, she was perfect was she notâ Rhyzaâs eyes were flashing in anger as he started to stalk over to the priest and his voice was low and level.â Why oh why my loyal human, is there a Greek good, the one of whom you serve trying to summon me upstairs.â He came to a stop infront of him and dropped the heart at his feet, raising a brow. The priest began stuttering, Rhyza knelt down and placed a finger on his lips.â Donât worry I wonât hurt your plans by killing you. Lets go see what your first Master has in store.â Rhyza motioned for the priest to stand and lead the way. He also felt a familiar presence, one that had plagued him from his beginnings of roaming this realm. Normally he would be more than delighted to meet up him but at the moment he figured he was going to need to be a little more crafty than his normal antics. He really should just flash out of here but there was the matter of the shadow heâd picked up. He would love nothing more than to foil the plans of Apollo. There was also the matter of him knowing how to summon him and the feeling that he was getting in the chamber above. So, with his usual âsubtletyâ he walked right into the room, where Apollo stood with his heavily armed and trained army â You rang your flame-less-nessâ He gave him a smile with his hand on the priests shoulder. â We were just having a chatâ  His eyes glanced over to a ring of fire and to who was held in it. So that was his shadow, an Angel even. â Look you even brought me a toy to play with along with the welcome wagon. The welcome wagon could have been alittle less army and more food and wine but that must mean you are a little sore about what happened last time I was here.â He left the priest to stand infront of Apollo as he walked over to look at the person in the circle, looking at everything  they were holding him with.â You could have left him a little less tied up for my own fun thoughâ He just needed to buy time for the moment. Â
