Hi, everyone, Mun Em here -- the person behind Casey.  I know the blog’s been pretty dead for awhile, and I wanted to apologize for the part I’ve played in that.  I said from the beginning I couldn’t do this alone, and while that’s still true, I ought to be popping in from time to time regardless.

While I can’t turn back the clock and fix my absence, I can try and do better from here forward.  I’m sorry.  I’ll be better.

An Introduction

Hello! My name is Andy and I’m so happy to join you as the latest member of The Sharing social media team! 

A little bit about me

For the past three years I have been the head of the Georgia chapter (peanut Georgia not Joseph Stalin Georgia) where I have overseen tremendous growth in our numbers. 

I will answer questions in both English and Spanish (I am not quite fluent but I know some)

I'm not sure I'm ready to become a full member yet.

Well, certainly you’re chapter head won’t pressure you.  If you’re receiving pressure from your members, though, that’s a different story.  Tell your chapter head and senior members; I’m sure it’s just people being excited about all that full membership has to offer, but that’s no excuse for urging someone to take on all the responsibilities of a full Sharing member when they aren’t prepared.

Wait until you’re ready, friend.  Just like any other commitment, the Sharing will take a lot of time and energy.  But when you’re ready to step up to full membership, there will always be a spot for you.

Please use caution when using ginger in your food, even for calming techniques. I think there is some sort of conspiracy going on involving it that the Sharing is aware of. Why else would every full member I know refuse to eat Instant Maple and Ginger Oatmeal?? I think the government has been covering up some detrimental side effects, and the Sharing is going to expose them to the world!

Hi!  Sorry this took so long to respond to; I’ve been run off my feet between working with the Sharing, my studies, and helping out at home.  I don’t know about some kind of conspiracy, but it is good advice to make sure that herbal remedies are okay for you to take!  Always check with a doctor in case something could mess with a medicine you’re taking.  I had thought that would have gone without saying, but it was brought to my attention that it was not.  I apologize for that; I was trying to help.

A friend of a friend told me that full members act a bit differently than outer members. I mean, in addition to the exhaustion of all the extra work. Have you noticed anything like that? A difference of attitude? Shifting likes and dislikes? Different manners of speaking? A change in body language perhaps? Just wanna know how my life might change if I went all in :)

Well, folks tend to feel a lot happier, getting more involved in their communities!  That often leads to an upturn in attitude, especially if the member in question has been struggling with something like depression or anxiety.  I can’t say that a shift in likes and dislikes or body language is something I’ve noticed.

If your friend’s suggesting something like that might happen to you, then they’re probably either playing a joke on you or buying into the conspiracy nonsense.  Awhile back, there was a similar joke going around that, thankfully, was quickly stopped.  I assure you, joining the Sharing will only have a positive effect on your life.  It’s certainly changed my life for the better, and I’m not even a full member yet!

Wait I just realized how needlessly ominous that last ask was, sorry. I simply meant to say that modding this site is a thankless task and I don't envy you the position -- as you said, the Sharing gets a deeply strange number of conspiracy theories, as a full member I can attest to that! I had a bad reaction to something at breakfast and it's left me a bit weird, I'll try to keep better control of myself and not send any more weird asks

Oh!  Well, I apologize for the misunderstanding.  I hope you get to feeling better!  Try something with ginger or peppermint -- Always helps settle my stomach.  I recommend tea, but I’ve heard good things about candies too.

I know acting as a mod is going to be a lot of work, but all good things take time and effort!  And I think this project and the good it can do is worth that.  I’m excited to be here, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Oh, gosh.  I’d heard that the previous mod (Amanda, I think?) had been getting anons like this before she had to leave the blog.

I don’t much appreciate folks suggesting that the Sharing isn’t a safe place to be.  I understand that people like to make jokes about it being some sort of cult, but really?  It’s much safer and more welcoming than home for a lot of people, and we do a lot of good here.  I know that firsthand.  I’d really like it if you stopped before you got too invested in getting this ‘joke’ started.  It isn’t funny, and just hurts people.

Intro Post

Hi, everyone!  Gosh, this blog’s been down for awhile, huh?  Well, I’m happy to announce that we’re just about ready to get things back up and running!

I’m Casey, and I’ll be at least the first of your new mods.  I’m coming up on my twentieth birthday, and I’m in college, though I’m thinking about taking a year off pretty soon.  She/her pronouns, please.

I’m still a junior member of the Sharing, but I’m super excited that I was chosen to help run our social media pages!  This organization has been a huge help to me, personally, and I’m delighted to help spread it to new folks!  It’s wonderful to meet you all, and I can’t wait to talk more!
