Backstage with Joan Baez at San Francisco's Candlestick Park on August 29, 1966; photos by Jim Marshall, scanned from Tomorrow Never Knows: The Beatlesโ Last Concert.
โThey were terribly funny and terribly sweet, and they invited me to stay on the road for their last three or four concerts. My tour was over, so I went with them โ as I think anybody would have. You know, packed everything and whoopty-do, off we went. I saw all the inner workings: how you climb into Volkswagen buses and then send the limousine out to be beaten to death by loving fans. All those things. I was fascinated.โ - Joan Baez interviewed by Kurt Loder, Rolling Stone (April 14, 1983)
โ[I first met The Beatles] when they were in Red Rocks, I think it must have been 1964 [August 26, 1964]. [โฆ] [I was told] โMiss Baez, the Beatles want to meet youโ and I thought I could have died. I never have had stage fright about meeting anybody. [โฆ] The one consistent thing is that they were all terribly funny, always, all of them. Wisecracking, wisecracking, wisecracking โ really funny. [โฆ] [On that last tour in 1966] I think they were beginning to grow up, which also means break up for a lot of people. I canโt imagine trying to last with three people in your life, which is what the public wants. When I say grow up, they went on to different kinds of musical creativity. They had to get out of that scene โ that was the bobbysoxer scene. That was just emphasis on screaming and yelling and stardom and crashing limousines. They were more talented than that. They had more work to do.โ - Joan Baez, interviewed for Tomorrow Never Knows: The Beatlesโ Last Concert
โGeorge and Joan Baez are good friends, and George sought out Joan as he walked and waved and smiled, and since I was standing with her, he waved my way too.โ - Rochelle Reed, reporting from The Beatlesโ Dodger Stadium concert, KRLA Beat (September 24, 1966)
From a Computer Engineer to Fighting for Survival: Please Do Not Scroll Past My Urgent Appeal ๐ฅบ๐
Before this crisis, I was a Computer Engineering graduate from the Islamic University of Gaza. I had a house, a car, a promising career, and a life full of dreams. Now, I am a brother carrying the heavy responsibility of keeping my entire family alive.
I sacrificed absolutely everything before turning to this campaign. I spent my entire life savings and sold every single thing I owned, including my laptop. Out of pure desperation to feed my family, I took a grueling heavy-lifting job that my body couldn't handle. My back broke under the weight, leaving me hospitalized for an entire month.
Today, I am broken and in agonizing pain inside a tent, unable to even stand up on my own feet.
I feel completely helpless because my campaign is moving extremely slowโit doesn't even cover the cost of basic food for my family right now. We are starving, and the slow support is leaving us stranded on the brink of survival.
Please, do not look away from our agony. Your donations are our only way to eat and stay safe. If you cannot donate, please share my story. You are truly our last remaining hope ๐๐ญ๐ฅ๐๐
Hi, my name is Max and I am raising funds for Mahmoud and his family who are living in Gaza. Please read his story below:
My name is Bilal. I am a 35-year-old father of four children ๐จโ๐งโ๐ฆ from Gaza. I lived a simple life with my family. I worked hard every day to provide my children with a decent life and a better future.
But the war took everything from usโฆ ๐
In a sudden bombing, my home was destroyed, and the place that once brought my family together became nothing but ruins. I lost several members of my family, and I, my wife, and my daughter were injured, leaving us with deep physical and emotional suffering.
After losing my home, my job, and my only source of income, I became unable to work because of my injuries. My responsibilities became greater than my ability to provide. Today, I live with my children in a small, worn-out tent โบ that does not protect us from the heat of the sun โ๏ธ, the cold of winter โ๏ธ, insects ๐, or rats ๐ญ that have become part of our daily struggle.
Even the little food we manage to get ๐ does not remain safe for us, as the rats eat it, and my children cannot eat it afterward. We are living in extremely difficult conditions, trying only to survive through fear and hardship ๐.
The tent where we live is located near the yellow line, and we have nowhere else to go or a safe place to shelter. It breaks my heart to see my children suffering while I cannot provide what they need ๐ข.
I ask kind-hearted people โค๏ธ to stand with me and help us provide medical treatment for my wife and daughter ๐ฅ, secure the basic needs for my children, and help us overcome these unbearable circumstances after losing everything.
Because of the war in Gaza, I lost everything โ my home ๐๏ธ and my work in law, as I am a law graduate โ๏ธ. My wife and my daughter Malak suff
Please donate whatever you can to help us and stand by us during this difficult time ๐. Your support can give my family new hope and help my children have a safer and more dignified life ๐ค.
Please share our story with anyone who may be able to help ๐คฒ.
Thank you to everyone who extends a helping hand and feels our pain โค๏ธ.
My name is Mohammed, I live in Gaza City and I am 19 years old. I have lived through the full horrors of war โ hunger, displacement, fear, relentless bombings, destruction, and so many other painful experiences ๐ฅน๐ญ.I never created a donation link before, and I havenโt received any kind of help throughout this devastating war ๐ฅฒ๐.
I was so happy when the ceasefire was announced, and I dreamed of starting a small shop to earn a living. But sadly, the war returned โ even more violent and destructive than before ๐ญ.Our area has now been declared a dangerous combat zone, and we lost our home โ the only shelter we had ๐.
Worst of all, my father was seriously injured: he tragically lost one of his hands and an eye, and he is now completely unable to work or support our family ๐ฅฒ๐ญ.
Prices have skyrocketed, and we have no source of income. Iโm launching this donation campaign now with a broken heart but a little hope ๐ฅฒ.
Please, for the sake of humanity and for the sake of my family, consider making a donation to help us survive ๐๐.
I just created the donation link, hoping that someone out there might lend a helping hand.
My name is Mohammed. I am 18 years old and live in Gaza City. I am still at the beginning of my life, dreaming of a better future. My father
I am Jaafar, living in Gaza, and I have created a fundraising campaign to help my family cover the costs of living amid the difficult humanitarian conditions we are facing, the high prices, and the severe shortage of basic necessities. We have completely lost our home, and all the houses in our area were destroyed. Our area has now become part of what is known as the โYellow Line.โ Today, we are living in a tent in the middle of Gaza that does not protect us from the extreme summer heat or the cold of winter.
We lost everything we owned inside our home, and we have nothing left. We are trying to rebuild our lives from zero, but this is beyond our ability under these harsh circumstances. I kindly ask you, if you are able, to help me with any amount, no matter how small. Every contribution makes a real difference in my familyโs life and helps us provide food and basic necessities.
I also ask you to support my fundraising campaign, because having some donations encourages others to contribute as well. My circle of contacts is limited, and I cannot reach a large number of people, so please do not only share the link if you are able to donate, even with a small amount. A small donation from you can mean a lot to my family and can make a real difference in our lives.

My name is Maram, I am 25 years old from Gaza. I dreamed of a peaceful life, spending my life with my husband and my three children... but the war turned this dream into an impossible one ๐๐ญ. We lived through this genocide with all its painful details and we are still suffering from it๐ญ. We were so happy when the ceasefire was announced, and we returned to our homes in northern Gaza after being displaced for a year and a half in a tent in the south of the Gaza Strip. After repairing a small room in our destroyed house, we began to live there and start over. Unfortunately, the war came back, and it was even stronger than before ๐. Now, we have no shelter or source of income. We have used up all our savings during the war. I know I created my campaign very late, but that's because I have no other means to help my family ๐. I am completely confident and hopeful that someone here will help us as much as they can and save my family in these tough circumstances ๐.
I know how painful and frustrating it is to start over from scratch, but I hope to get any amount for my family ๐ฅบ๐.
My name is Maram, a Palestinian woman from Gaza. I am 26 years old and a mother of three children: Malik (8 years old), Ibrahim (6 years old
So, please, donate to my campaign, even if it's a small amountโit will have a big impact on us ๐ฅบ. May God bless you, my friend ๐ฅฐโค๏ธ.
My name is Abdullah Salem, I am 27 years old, married, and a father of two daughters, Iman and Masa. My wife, Sarah, is currently seven months pregnant. Before the war, I worked as a driver and lived a simple but stable life. Everything changed when my car was destroyed, I lost my job, and our home was completely destroyed.
Today, we live in a tent under very difficult conditions, struggling with food shortages, lack of clean water, and rising prices. I am doing my best to provide for my family and protect my children from hunger. We have also lost several family members during the war, and every day is a struggle to survive.
If you are able to support or share my campaign, any contributionโno matter how smallโcan help us secure food, water, and basic necessities. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for giving us hope.

I write these words with a broken heart. For those who read this and choose to ignore it, you can simply scroll, but I live the hardest moments of my life. My baby is dying slowly in front of my eyes. Due to the disease, he was unable to eat or drink for more than a week, his weight has dropped to only 6 kilograms, and he suffers from severe life-threatening malnutrition.
Doctors confirmed that he needs medication urgently, but we cannot afford the treatment. I feel helpless when watching it weaken day by day, while time is running out. ๐
I'm not asking for the impossible; I'm simply asking for a chance to save his life. Please, if you can't donate, feel free to share our story. It may reach someone who can give him a new lease in life. ๐๐
