Rantings of a worn out mother of a Roblox child.
If you are anything like me, you are exhausted. From what you ask? It is easy and complex at the same time. Being a parent is intertwined with two different generations. I have always loved gaming, but so do my kids. And of course, that makes sense and seems like a blessing. But, it isn't...and you know this.
Roblox began as a simple platform. I thought it was adorable for kids when my daughter was younger. It reminded me of the old game (Lego Island) made in the 90s, where you control the Lego kids and complete quests. Terrible graphics now, but the best game. Ignorantly, and a busy mom at the time, working and single, I allowed Roblox for my then 4-year-old. She had a pink tablet and was all set to go, as she had outgrown the baby games and wanted something more adult. I did not know, like many other parents, what lurked in the dark for these children, and it was more than just innocent fun.
To be clear, I am writing because I was recently commenting on a Facebook post, trying to help a fellow mother out with setting limits for their child each week. LIMITS. Omg. Do you want to know how to set limits? But, in all seriousness, I've been there. I would like to share some of the many experiences I have had. Hopefully, it helps at least one person. However, I also still need help with it myself, and writing to help alleviate the pressure. I'll be back, and I'll have more insight soon. For now, hang in there and give yourself grace through it all.
Sincerely,
