Watching the development of the kingdoms of this world has been an interesting journey. I saddens me to think of the ones that were lost to time.
Though they may not be recovered, new life always flourishes in their places. I suppose that is the beauty of it all.
what can you tell me about the nazcaan civilization?
Hmm... A hard thing to think about, the lost kingdom brings up many sad memories, but I shall try for you.
Nazcaä once had three great cities, they were known as Nazcaä, Tak'al, and Itzos. Now, however, all that remains is the Ara Memoriae, resting in the former site of the kingdom.
Reaching Nazcaä is impossible, the island is protected from all intruders, and a thick fog surrounds it. Should you make it onto the island, there would not be much for you to see.
Much, if not all, of the kingdom's history, is lost and none remain who know it. We are lucky though, as their alphabet survives and is used commonly in Wizarding books.
Here is a refresher for those who need it.
As I mentioned, the history of their civilization is lost, so there is not much to tell about them. It pains me to think about the lost kingdom, you'll forgive me if I did not unveil any new insight.
What would you say are the hardest familiars to care for?
Ah, I do love all of those little creatures, and it truly comes down to your taste in familiars. Some folks have more trouble with some critters than others, and some folks don't.
I have found myself favoring Purrloiners, they're very adorable, and some can be quite temperamental.
However, I for some reason, I do always have trouble getting along with and Crowhawks I take under my wing (haha, they're bird-like!). It may have something to do with their tendency to caw in the morning, like living alarms, I am sadly not a morning person.
I do try my best to love all familiars, of course, and I would never treat one of these lovely critters any differently.
do you have any advice for someone looking for an alchemy pot? i've heard the genies in them can be tough to beat
I apologize for the lateness of my replies, I do try to get to them promptly, but I was dealing with some personal matters. I also misplaced my books for some time. Thankfully, I have found them all and I can get back to work.
Now, onto your question!
I understand the thought of dealing with genies can seem quite scary, but you must prove your strength to them. If you do not earn genies' utmost respect, it can be hard to work with them in the future.
However, much like us, all genies are different. Some may go easier on you than others and some will be more of a challenge. It is simply the luck of the draw.
My advice, stock up plenty of restorative items, magic, and recovery potions. Everything to keep you in the tip-top shop during the battle. Prepare your most powerful spells.
If you are still a beginner wizard, or not a wizard at all, you can still defeat a genie but be sure to use only the best equipment for the battle.
A genie will let you retry their battle and prove yourself as many times as you need, but don't be afraid to step away to recover more. Pushing yourself too hard won't earn their respect.
Have faith in yourself, and you will overcome this hurdle. Good luck on your alchemy quest.

can only certain people call forth familiars or is it possible for anyone? do people need a certain level of magic to do so or not?
A very good question, my friend.
I believe the princes of Hamelin are a good example for this.
Prince Marcassin is a Great Sage and a very talented wizard, he can summon an array of tamed familiars. Prince Gascon has no magic ability, yet he has familiars himself.
Familiar are creatures born from the heart, you can tame news ones, but your first one will always come from inside. Since everyone has a heart, everyone has a familiar they can summon, they might just need a bit of help doing so. But with practice, anyone can summon a familiar.
To tame new familiar, however, you will need some level of magical ability, and training in the creature care.
According to my research into familiars, while everyone is capable of summoning them the familiars tend to vary in abilities, stats, skills, and sometimes even personalities.
Those with great magical intent will bear powerful familiars and tame even the most ferocious of them, with time and effort of course.
Average wizards, with enough training, will grow their familiars into splendid beings at whatever task they have at hand.
Those that do not wield magic are able to summon familiars too! It takes extra help and magic and while their own familiars may not be as strong as say...an advanced wizard's, the crestures will still remain steadfast and loyal without end. Instead of taking up arms, some of them may resort to using their skills for other uses. Cooking, nursery care, and so on!

What's funny about that one post for an ask (chara) blog is that I think there were two blogs that did that. One was the @the-wizards-companion blog that gave explanations on certain nnk things if you asked. Another was, for a short time until they went the role-playing route, @taffysteratology who gave encyclopedic knowledge on familiars and their natural behavior, diet, and lifestyles. I don't see either of them that often but I do wonder what became of them.
This blog still runs, but it requires interaction. I'm here to answer questions, not shout off information without reason.
