Two of our fellows practicing their video skills!
This week we’ve begun our 2015 Peace Fellows Training before they head out all over the world! Our fellows have spent the past few days learning about everything from NGO Management to Social Media for Change from our wonderful trainers. Today they’re learning about photography from Ashok Sinha in order to better document and share their experiences in countries such as Nepal, Mali, and many more!
Dharavi Slum of Mumbai, India by 2013 Fellow Sujita Basnet
Recycling Mumbai’s waste is the magic of the little hands of the kids living in this slum community, where they sort, melt, and recycle Mumbai’s trash. This is their life! They make the cheapest and most useful items that we buy in the markets of Mumbai. Everything from toys to sunglasses to shoes, souvenir and all the items that make us happy, while their happiness lies in the little that they have. Life is constantly being recycled within this slum, one life is gone and another begins.

Inside the Center: Now equipped with rooms for legal advocates, psychiatrists and computer classes, now funding is the main struggle for success at BOSFAM's Srebrenica Center. The BOSFAM center in Srebrenica has over 70 women on its list of weavers. However, due to low funding a low sales only a handful of them are able to generate income from the center. Srebrenica remains a shell of its former self, yet BOSFAM continues to search for new ways to breathe life into this high mountain town.
