i was involved with shifting during 2020 and it's massive tiktok propaganda era. i mostly did visualization methods, scripted, and fantasized about my dr without actually putting in the work to shift.
people say shifting is effortless. and yes, you can just... let go and shift. but for a lot of people, you do need to put in effort to get results. when i rediscovered shifting in 2026 of march, it was on pure accident when i was training myself to lucid dream.
what helped most? viewing shifting like a science project. analyzing data, trial and error, putting in effort to maximize results. most, if not everyone, can't grasp concepts like manifestation and shifting because it is completely illogical to what we are taught to believe. for me, i knew lucid dreaming was a real phenomenon, so i learned the wbtb method and practiced for two weeks.
on the second week, i astral projected. i knew briefly of AP while scrolling through forums, but in all honesty, i thought it wasn't real. but when i was snapped into sleep paralysis and the only thing that was on me mind was 'roll out'? i deadass followed and saw results.
so i kept trying. if lucid dreaming is scientifically proven, and astral projection is real, what more of shifting?
that was when i discovered lucid dreaming and the void state. i entered void state by overloading my dream with 'power blasts' so that my REM can't render anymore and it'd be forced into a state of nothingness. that's the void. i experienced the void before i even knew how the void looked like or worked.
when i came back, i decided to look into things a little more. AP is.. not for the faint of heart, and i am the faint of heart, so i decided that reaching void state was an easier transition to shifting than AP. it's just that, i only got there from overloading my dream senses, and most people get there from an extremely relaxed meditative state... so what did i do then?
i just kept doing the wbtb method, taking breaks when i felt like i was losing sleep, keeping up with my cr so i wouldn't feel pressured to shift as a form of escapism, and researching hypnagogic states and forms. i learned how to meditate in that time, which was really cool! and i learned how to hit sleep paralysis and void state pretty easily.
sooo, you may wonder... hey, when is she gonna talk about the time she actually shifted?
after doing the wbtb method, i was having a dream and took a close look at someone's face. i was like, 'yo, swear i've seen this guy before on tiktok- OH SHIT IM DREAMING.' and snapped into sleep paralysis. let me tell you something, sleep paralysis sounds scary, but it's basically the control centre into the void state or AP. the vibrations you feel or the exploding head syndrome/static noises you hear are your vibrations tuning in. if you would want to AP, imagine yourself phantom rolling or peeling out of your physical body. if you want to hit void, let the feeling of sleep paralysis swallow you and imagine yourself sinking into the bed. affirmations help too!
i did this and hit void. i'll pull this straight out of my dream log:
"i felt like my head was getting pulled by a vacuum into my pillow, but i didn't resist and let it happen. then i hit void, my surroundings changed to a vast pitch black and i can't even describe to you what the feeling was. there was no numbness in my limbs but just air. i then decided that i was at (dr), and my visuals started to change into some waves of light until i heard a voice getting louder. (dr persons) fricking voice. i waited until it wasn't like a voice in my head, but something i could actually and literally hear. he kept going bro (i don't remember what he was saying). so when i finally heard it properly, i opened my eyes."
to preface, i wear a blindfold to sleep. but here, i saw the rays of light shining faintly through an open window, i wore a white t-shirt (which wasn't what i was wearing to bed), aaaaand my literal view of the world was some obstructed view of lips and sheets and fabric. i told myself, 'when i blink, i'll see properly' and when i blinked i saw a whole bedroom that wasn't mine. an open door, carpet flooring, lights shining through and a bathroom filled with makeup and curling irons, kind of looked like a mansion actually.
then when i saw this, i was about to scream, blinked, and saw my cr bedroom. imagine my frustration 😔... but it was real, it was definitely real. i believe that i wasn't able to stay long because i didn't ground myself once i tuned in. i read that shifting is composed of detaching yourself from your cr, attaching yourself to your dr, then grounding your senses with the new frequency. i was a dumbass and got too excited... but it's okay! it really affirmed to me that it's real. and that means it's alsooo real to you.
so my tips? for the love of god, invest in the wbtb method. basically, wake up 4-6 hours after you first sleep because it's when your REM cycle completes. all restorative deep sleep is founded in those 4-6 hours, which allows the rest of your sleep to drift into the hypnagogic state, where dreams and lalaland is found. it seems like a lot of work, but do you know how many people learn how to lucid dream for the sole sake of sex? you can put in the effort to live a whole other life (or to have sex, if that's what you will). after you wake up, invest 5-30 minutes in activities that will activate the analytical part of your brain, like reading, math problems (i did this, it helps.), walking around, splashing water on your face, pissing, and even light activities on your phone. i don't advise to use your phone, but it does wake me up at least, but please do not doomscroll... don't doomscroll.
then, you really just set the intention to do anything you want. LD, AP, shift... it may work first try or second or fifth. nevertheless, results do come. i recommend reality checking throughout the day. you can also listen to guided meditations, theta waves, subliminals, or meditate in bed. it's really easy to experience weird things in this state. so take advantage of that! mess around and just learn. generally, if you have no clue what you're doing, i recommend lucid dreaming. it's easy to grasp because it is something our brain can understand logically, and while you're lucid dreaming, you can induce sleep paralysis and AP/hit void or simply fall backward into the void. or be dramatic like me.
you can shift directly, it's just ... harder? playing around in the hypnagogic state is also really fun, so pick what you will.
it's real. literally real. unfathomably real. you just have to experience it yourself. and where does experience come from? effort.
