"For you, a thousand times over."
Without question, she would do it all over again. It didn’t matter what everyone thought of her, it didn’t matter that she’d been ridiculed. Even when she was at her lowest point, she’d never regretted a thing about it. And how could she when she’d received her greatest gift?
Sienna had dealt with it all because of her affair with the married Will Abbott. She loved him in her own special way, as much as you can love someone who belongs to another. She’d lived for their stolen moments, the feel of his body pressed against her and she’d paid the price for it greatly. When the news broke that she was the mistress (God, she hated the term) to Mr. Abbott, she was sure her life was over. The whispers still rang in her ears from when she’d walked along. She’d been called everything you could think of, mistress being the nicest. Whore, concubine, harlot, trollop; oh, Sienna could go on and on. The looks of displeasure and disgust that were thrown at her took the place of the heated looks she’d receive while with Will. She knew what they were all thinking “how dare she show her face?” This was her punishment, she assumed, for sleeping with a married man.
She’d lost everything. So much was gone because of her mistake. Her mother was disappointed and her father, Lord, he’d almost had a heart attack. She’d never seen so many veins pop out of his neck as he’d berated her over the phone. “I didn’t send you up there to be some white man’s whore”. It’d hurt her deep, stabbed at her core. She’d let loud sobs fall from her as he continued on his rant. Her fiance, the man she was sure she’d spend the rest of her life with, left her. He couldn’t handle knowing his future wife had cheated on him with another man; not that it surprised Sienna. What man could?
It didn’t stop it from hurting though. It didn’t stop the pain that coursed through her, the loneliness she felt as Will went back to his wife. Of course the woman accepted him with open arms, that didn’t surprise Sienna neither. Everyone continued on with their lives while Sienna was stuck on the end receiving all of the criticism. She’d wanted to lock herself away and never come out again. Tears had fall end own her face and puddled on her pillow until there was no longer anything to fall.
And yet, if you asked her, she’d do it again in a heartbeat. A few weeks later, something happened that changed this from her mistake to her blessing. It made everything worth it. Sure, she’d lost people, her pride, her dignity, and even been humiliated. But knowing that during that time they’d created a child made nothing else matter. People could talk all that wanted, say what they wanted but Grace Emily Washington (Abbott but who cared about the second last name) would mean the world to her. Nothing came before her and nothing would ever fill Sienna’s heart with such love. “My daughter, for you, I’d do it a thousand times over if it all resulted in you.”
