Why is it that autism has the concept of masking but no other neurodivergency has that. Can a bipolar person mask a manic episode? Can someone with adhd hide that they’re hyperactive? Can a schizophrenic in the depths of psychosis mask when they struggle to make sense due to their processing being fucked? If you think they can you probably don’t know many neurodivergents.
It’s always the self-diagnosed people with autism saying that they masked and that’s why they don’t have a diagnosis. Maybe you’re just not autistic and are just quirky.
I’ve never been able to hide the fact i’m autistic. I’m awkward and I admit that. I misinterpret what people say to me (especially irl). I can’t hide my facial expressions. I bounce my leg up and down to self regulate or make movements with my hands. I’m introverted and need time on my own. I can’t look someone directly in the eye, even looking at their face is hard sometimes.
So how can you hide you’re autistic? Are u even autistic?
Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I don’t fully believe in the concept of masking.
All of this
disagree. Bipolar and schizophrenia are mental disorders relating to brain hormones. Autism is a developmental disorder relating to social behaviour.
Informally diagnosed at 8, formally diagnosed at 16. I'm not very good at masking at all, people pick up I'm different very quickly, but I've always tried to fit in because I don't like feeling socially isolated.
I can't be fucked arguing more because "I don't experience this thing and I can't relate to others, so they must experience things the same way I do" is classic autistic black and white thinking and very hard to change one's mind on.
People in the midst of a psychotic episode do ‘mask’ as well. There are plenty of people who wait until they’re in a room alone before responding to unseen stimuli, it’s just that it eventually gets overwhelming without medication.

Arsenal to the final! Together!
so cool how this woman-beating narcissistic fucking freak just got a hagiographic image rehab profile in the hollywood reporter and his movie is getting a full court press wide release because his famous buddies decided to go to bat for him and the whole world has decided that you can just beat and strangle whatever women you want as long as you can get the type of people on social media who think "it's actually okay because he beat up a WHYTE woman" on your side
i'm just going to say it: the way this man and his PR and legal teams have capitalized on the tone and toxicity of online racial discourse to justify this kind of violence because it was the "right" kind of woman to abuse, and the fact that many women online got on board with it, is a very damning sign of how cooked feminism is.
As a white woman who has been abused by a past male sexual partner who also happened to be a person of color, I can tell you that when I went to the hospital for my injuries, they were more focused on what I had done to provoke him (nothing) than they were the fact that he had beaten the shit out of me. "This could turn into a racial issue for him and that's not the case here," is what the nurse and officer both said to me.
He beat me, but because I'm a white woman, my statement that he beat me would look bad on the black community. It doesn't matter that he was black and that I'm white - he was a man who hurt a woman just because he could.
we all hate jonathan majors here, but what is it exactly that you are suggesting, op? are you suggesting that majors is getting an image rehab because he is black? rather than because he is a man? i’m trying really hard to give you the benefit of the doubt here, i’m thinking that perhaps you aren’t aware that famous black men get away with beating and raping their black partners all the time. chris brown is an outspoken abuser of primarily non-white women, and his career continues to thrive, for example. or perhaps we need to revisit the case of michael fassbender beating the shit out of several of his black girlfriends, blaming it on “alcoholism” and then going on to face exactly zero repercussions? fassbender didn’t even get fired like majors did, dude. literally no one gave a fuck.
or maybe you’re only concerned about white women who are victims—in that case, you’ve forgotten that famous white men who attack white women also suffer no consequences and have the public on their side? you know, like in the johnny depp and blake lively cases radical feminists are currently obsessed with? and racist white men who beat the shit out of white women have also been coming back to hollywood in a big way with mel gibson’s also THR-facilitated image rehab, along with that which alec baldwin benefited from years ago. these guys get the benefit of the doubt because they’re powerful and famous men. not due to their race. at most, race is another angle for apologists to exploit, but there’s no evidence that black men get away with abuse because they’re black, rather than because they’re men.
genuinely, i am wondering why you’ve chosen to frame the issue this way (no one cares because the victim was a white woman)? again, are you suggesting that people would care if she was black? would you like me to tell you that the majority of femicide victims in the US are black? that approximately six black women are murdered every single day in my country, also primarily by black men like majors? but the majority of those cases go unsolved? i certainly hope you’re not suggesting that black women have some kind of systemic privilege over white women when it comes to this issue. i really hope that’s not what i’m seeing here today. i feel that is the implication you’re very strongly suggesting.
i am reblogging this version of the post so my followers can see both how op fails to support her claim with her cited evidence (which features majors making typical domestic abuser threats, but doesn’t appear to uh “capitalize on the toxicity of online racial discourse”) and also to tell the person who shared their abuse story this: i am sorry you were assaulted. “protect the black community” is something black women are also told when they’re abused by black men. quite famously, megan thee stallion was pressured to keep quiet by everyone around her. this isn’t a new issue; tina turner was almost beaten to death by her husband, but her doctor told her to shut up because speaking out “gives us a bad name”. when she died recently, people were still slandering her and calling her a race traitor.
so, again, this isn’t about protecting black people, it’s about protecting men. it’s about patriarchy. when you frame this as an issue of race rather than patriarchy, you are perpetuating racism. look: i’m not going around to posts about abusive white men and sharing my story of how white boys took turns raping me and then bragged about without consequence. frankly, the thought didn’t even cross my mind until just now, because i don’t associate all white people with my abusers.
so i daresay you two need to seriously examine your motivations and rhetoric here, because the implications are really troubling.
by saying "right kind of woman", OP is framing black male violence against white women as a uniquely socially protected problem of misogyny that white women feel too stifled to discuss on the internet. they are more afraid of being Carolyn Bryants than they are willing to unite with black women against male violence. white women don't mention Cosby or Chris Brown or Diddy or Fassbender the way black women stand against Weinstein and Polanski for a reason. to them, Johnathan is a black aggressor before he's a male aggressor

I LOVE COMPLEX DATED ADVERBS. Wherein. Heretofore. Thereon. Hereunto. Whereof. Hitherward. Hereinafter. How can you look at these words and not lose your mind. They're insane. I think I'm in love.
People bigging Trump up for what he just did to Zelensky as if he was some sigma male, I'm sorry, but we must be seeing different things, because what I saw was a grown ass man having a temper tantrum in front of the entire world because big bad Zelensky didn't just get on his knees and suck like every other fucker seems to do.
Like Elon, the man has never faced any pushback from anyone, he has led a sheltered life and cannot handle it when he's told "no."
If you think this is a good look, then you probably didn't get bullied enough as a child or you were the bully.
I'm in total shock after watching the video...
"You didn't even say thank you! Say thank you in front of the cameras or we don't help you!"
They invited the president of a country that is under attack to belittle and threaten him??? This is despicable. "You don't have the cards! You need us! Say thank you! You're being disrespectful! Have you said thank you once? You did? But not during the meeting! Say thank you now! You're gambling with world war three here!" Excuse me?? Ukraine didn't start the war??? And if you refuse to help a country just because the president didn't say "thank you my king" and refuses to be your puppet in front of cameras then you're the one gambling with people's lives not him. And they also blame him for having supported the opposition during the US election??? Wtf? That's not how normal countries do politics??? The US is currently governed by grown men who act like fucking children. "This president is trying to save your country so show your appreciation!" no he's not he's trying to make money by selling weapons that's all.
And the way they kept talking over him when english is not even his native language and he couldn't say what he wanted fast enough, Trump even put his hand on him at some point I would have slapped that hand so fast... I'm fuming.
Oh my god I just watched the part where they ask Zelensky why he's not wearing a suit "why do you refuse to wear a suit? do you even own a suit? a lot of americans have a problem with you not respecting..." aaaaaaaaaaaaa
so when are men going to start breaking gender norms by doing all the cooking and cleaning and laundry instead of just painting their nails black
