Character name: Brim

Age: hundreds of years

Brim is a mystical creature from a fantasy world, I wise little character with a peculiar personality. He is very out spoken, ill mannered, loud and thinks he is hilarious. He can use magic and is a bank of knowledge through living so long although his wisdom is sometimes shadowed by his loud personality.

Brim is a short creature that almost mimics the look of a person that stands at about the height of a small child, 2.5ft tall. He can curl himself up into a small ball because of his round shape and roll along the ground at high speed to get around. Although Brim has all these traits he is not well liked in his world, people do not hate him they just find him a hassle to speak with due to his personality and most people are pained to spend a long duration of time with him. Being around hundreds of years brought him a reputation where most creatures in his world know who he is but he has never done anything heroic they just know him from seeing him around. He feels brave and says he is brave when really he is scared of conflict and would rather flee than fight.

Character name: Pip

Age: 13

Pip is a normal young American boy, Always known by his parents for his huge imagination. He is enthusiastic and very well mannered and polite, almost timid. He doesn't like to cause a fuss and is always the quiet kid when all the others are playing at school, preferring to sit with his thoughts and go on wild adventures in his daydreams. Loving the outdoors more than video games and technology Pip is always out down the woods or going on little excursions around his neighbourhood. He is a very intelligent young man who studies hard and loves to read old tales about knights and wizards saving the world from destruction. Pip tends to be misunderstood, people think he is strange as he doesn't like to socialise much and prefers to read a book than play a game.

One of these aforementioned adventures led him out to where he had never been before one afternoon where he finds a very old bit of woodland that looks untouched by human hands. He ventured in on his adventure and started exploring the old woodland, after a couple of hours Pip starts becoming lost and quickly begins worrying as the sun is getting lower in the sky. As darkness settles in Pip is scared, upset and lost, he sees an enormous tree and goes to sit within its large extruding roots, sobbing too himself that he's lost and thinking he'll never get home, a helpful little creature came along to help him, Brim.

Quest Design Task.

Task: Design one full quest for a Fantasy or Science Fiction RPG. The quest must include at least 3 Non Player Characters, and should ideally take the player no more than 30 minutes to complete. You will need to script out all the dialogue for the quest alongside creating character bios for the characters contained within it. You can use existing games as the setting for the quest if you wish to.

 Setting: Fantasy RPG

Main Character: Pip

NPC’s present: Brim (Main characters companion), Spirit of the forest, Sqawk (NPC)

{Player and companion have found out they must find a magical artefact to help them on their over-all quest, the two begin a conversation}

 PIP

Brim? Where are we going to find this thing?

 BRIM

Well Pip that’s where we’re in luck ay! I happen to know a thing or two about this place and I think I might now just the person to tell us ay! The spirit of the forest! He’s a mighty wise guy so I’ve been told!

 PIP

So you’ve been told?

 BRIM

Well that’s the thing lad, one minor problem but not many people have ever met the fella’ ay, He’s quite shy I reckon! But fear not young Pip, Brim has the answer! I know how to find him! I think... we’ve got to, go to his place! He only appears as dusk turns to dawn I heard! Why are all these mythical spirits so cryptic! I know the way anyhow I reckon! Let’s get going ay!

[Camera pans up to the sky]

FADE TO BLACK

{Writing appears on screen reading – “Ancient Forest” Camera appears again. Pip and Brim are walking side by side down a path through thick forest, giant out of proportion trees all around with a thick canopy overhead}

  BRIM

Well this is the spot Pip ay! Now just to find the fella! (Shouting) HELLO! HELLO MR SPIRIT!

 PIP

Brim stop it! Where will we find him?

 BRIM

Well Pip I think our best bet is the mother Oak, She’s the biggest tree in the entire universe I reckon! Let’s go there, if I was a spirit of the forest that’s where I’d be!

 PIP

Okay, good idea Brim! Let’s go!

 {Player takes control of Pip and Brim follows. Player follows path through forest getting deeper and deeper into the forest encountering random animals that attack along the way}

 -

 {A bird calling sounding distressed is heard, Pip and Brim run too it and fight off a large boss enemy. After the battle ends there is a small bird on the floor flapping around}

    BRIM

Ayyyyy! It’s a bird! He doesn’t look okay though Pip! Let me use some of my magic ay! See if Brim can fix him up!

 {Brim uses healing spell on the bird}

 PIP

Sorry if we scared you, are you okay..?

 [PAUSE]

{The bird jumps up and looks at Brim then at Pip}

 SQAWK

What a polite young man.

 PIP

You can talk!

 BRIM

Bloomin heck!

      SQAWK

Your friend not so much... Thank you for helping me. You are indeed brave coming into this forest! Let me guess hmm. You seem driven young man, are you looking for something? Hmmm looking for someone? Hmmm (Loud Bird squawk) I’ve got it! You’re looking for him! Our spirit of the forest hmm?!

 PIP

Yes mister we are indeed

 SQAWK

Hmmm, I can help you maybe hmmm! You came just in time!

 {Sqawk starts flying around in circles faster and faster then slowly starts transforming into another being – The spirit of the forest, it flies away off into the sky leaving behind the artefact they were looking for}

'Tomorrow.' - (Short story extract)

The sun slowly rose over the waves of mechanical buildings. Though everything that exists here, is a machine now. Even the sun, old and rusted; the cogs inside that bold faded light in the sky, were tiring and ready to give in. The light shone through the streets and even though the sun was a faded tan colour the city was still grey. The city was dark, as if all the colour had been withdrawn from at it at a much earlier time. All that remained were those beings which once might have given this place a sense of life. This city might have sustained some kind of life, aside from the lives of the rats that roamed the streets now. Rat are the populace here now. Humanity is second to them in every way. Stamina and numbers. Reproductive rate. Debatably in today’s world, maybe even intelligence. The buildings looked as if they would fall down at the slightest touch. Smoke slowly ensued from the thousands of chimneys that formed the canopy of the streets. The loud shreaking of the work sirens began, sounding like a broken horn gasping for breathe as it plays it's last note. 4:58am, every morning, every day, every week, without fail. Never a minute early nor a minute late.

Nowhere To Go - Entry 1.5 - (Short Story series)

I have managed to scramble back for a little while. I went to check on the noise outside and the smell, but I couldn't figure out what they had been. The smell was one I had never smelt before, it was a very light smell, almost undetectable. I imagine any normal person wouldn't have even noticed it, But as I have said, my sense of smell has become very astute to the slightest twinge. and the noise, well that was just a bang.. Probably just foxes or something. There are plenty of them around these parts.

I snapped my frozen body out a paralysis and slowly turned towards the window to the due left of me. As i slowly turned towards the window I moved at a snails pace closer.. and closer.. too it, I was sure something was out there. I got to the window, my nose touching the cold glass, my warm breath condensing softly on the window pane. See my house is surrounded by fields and a forest slightly off to the back of the house, The window overlooked the fields giving nowhere to hide, But I saw nothing.. "This can't be right" I exclaimed to myself, almost as if I wanted to see what was out there. My eyes peering out, like a hawk searching for prey, I scanned the land focusing in on the slightest movement, still there was nothing.

It was then I decided there wasn't anything out there, no movement, no noise, It must have just been my paranoia, and as I took a last glance out the window to turn my back on it. There, There it was, A black silhouette just sitting in the middle of the field out my window. It had the image of a rather robust, larger sized man sat cross legged, but with a extruded neck that was almost 3 times what would be regarded as normal length, with a very small head a top its slender neck. It appeared to be facing directly at me and I could feel its eyes piercing through my soul. The terror ensued quickly and I dropped to the floor under the window. Hiding, almost in the hope it hadn't seen me, I Knew it had. So I stood up, stood up to face this thing that has terrorized my life for many months now, I gathered the courage and turned to the window.... It was gone, nothing, I swear it was there but now there was nothing! "But.. I.. I don't.." where had this thing gone! I sat for next hour gazing at my Front door and nothing, with routine checks of the windows every 10 minutes or so, But it hasn't come back.

I hope it never comes back, But if it does I'll be here, I always am. I can't escape it.. I have no say in what transpires. This though.. This will be the archive of my experiences and events. This is where I shall document it all. This is my place. My safe Place and hopefully one of you can help me out, and shed light on this thing chasing me, if not.. Then it is just nice to know I wont disappear un-noticed. I should go but, I will be, back I hope.. Maybe the thing wont come back, or maybe it will.. I mean it could be like me. It could have nowhere else to go..

Nowhere To Go - Entry 1 - (Short Story series)

I have nowhere else to go. I have no idea what too do.. I feel like my time is almost up. With every pressing day I'm sure it gets more confident and comes closer, But I'm getting ahead of myself, Let me try fill you in a little with the time i have left and maybe, just maybe someone out there can save me.

I've never had many friends apart from Anonymous ones I managed to meet through an online Alias in a game or something. This is why I have nowhere to go.. No friends, No family that I know of.. and this is all happening to me.

.

I've been running for some time now, moving from place to place, never giving anyone time to know me, for the worry of my location being Discovered by the wrong person (or thing, I'm not entirely sure) all I know is I can't stay here. I must keep moving. But I can stay here, with the website, this can be my safe haven. This is my last bastion of hope in a world, that for me certainly, is filled with terror.

The following started a few months back (It could have been longer but that's when I first noticed it). I don't know why yet, I don't know who or what, I basically know nothing at all except for the fact that I know I am being followed. Everywhere I go, everything I do I feel it. Just like a child walking through the kitchen at night for a drink and having that distinct feeling of terror creeping up your spine, as you feel as if at any moment you are about to be confronted with some kind of evil lurking in the night. Waiting for you, watching you, observing you.

This is my life, Always being watched, I spot it sometimes, out of the window from my house or flat, outside the bus or car window whilst driving on a night, it is always there, lurking, watching, waiting. I'm sure it could have taken me or done what ever it wanted with me by now.. but no, it just sits and observes. But I know when it's here, Oh I know. I have become rather astute to detecting its horrific fowl smell, The stronger the smell the closer the 'thing' is to me. It's an indescribable smell, which can only be sparsely compared to the smell of Diesel, but more pungent. The kind of smell that makes your nose turn up upon detection, that instinctively sends signals to your brain saying "Somethings wrong" like smelling burning in your house. It burns at your eyes as if you haven't blinked in a fortnight, and you pine for tears too relieve that intense heat you're feeling, but alas none can muster the courage to leave your tear duct and taste the sickly strong smell that you are engrossed by. Yes.. That's it, it freezes you. Like two polar opposites combined into one, It burns your senses and makes your skin crawl and sweat.. but inside, inside it turns you cold, freezes you from head too toe. You try shout but you can't, the smell freezes your screams. It sends you completely stiff, paralyzed, broken. All that remains is your shell with the stench creeping through your airways as you lose all normal function, all that works is your brain, as it spirals into madness trying to contemplate what is about to happen to you and what your next move will be, once you decipher what..

I'm sorry I must go, I've taken far too long already and I need to stay aware... I heard a noise outside, and there is a faint smell drifting in through the breeze under the door, I can't quite work out what it is. I have to go, This is my last bastion of hope when all else is lost, I will be back. Of course I will be back, I have nowhere else to go..
