Truth Is...
INVOLVED: Summer Sanders, Ellie Rose, and Wynter Sanders TIME FRAME: Sunday, April 19, 2020 LOCATION: Sanders-Rose Home; Los angeles, California SUMMARY: While unpacking a few things, Wynter and Ellie stumble across Summer’s old sonogram photo. With the shock sinking in, Summer returns from a food run and Ellie and Summer talk about it, laying more secrets out into the open.
Wynter stood in the room with Ellie, after having moved all of the boxes marked for the master bedroom into the room. “Where should I put this last box?” she asked the woman, looking around at how everything was arranged.
Ellie looked at the mess that was their room, she sighed softly to herself, with at least the bed and mattress delivered they could make some sense of everything. She looked at Wynter and said, “just sit it right there,” as she folded her arms over her chest. “I guess all of the clothing items can go in the closet,” she said to the young girl.
Wynter nodded at Ellie as she moved with the box and sat it down off to the side. She looked around the room and hummed out, “what time is the rest of the furniture supposed to be arriving again?” She pulled her hair out of its ponytail and ran her fingers through it before she pushed it all back into a low bun. “Also, this was the last box,” she told Ellie, “as far as your stuff and Summer’s stuff goes,” she told the woman before she squatted before she box and opened it up.
“I don’t know, I have to check the email,” Ellie told the girl as she shifted on her feet, she dropped her arms and moved to a stack of boxes sliding them into the closet so that she could put some of those things away. She nodded her head at Wynter and said, “okay,” to her from the closet. She cracked a box open and pulled out a pair of shoes trying to decide how she wanted to organize everything.
Wynter took note of the items in the box being trinkets and things and she closed it before she moved to another. “Okay,” she said with a hum as she opened the next box filled with some of Summer’s clothes. She picked it up and moved it for the closet, placing it on the island in the center of the large closet. “Uh, which side would be yours and which side would be Summer’s?” she asked curiously.
“Put Summer’s stuff on the left,” Ellie said to the girl in an uncaring tone, it really didn’t matter to her either way. She was just over the entire moving process and she remembered now why she declined so many other lovers now. Licking her lips, she sat the shoes down before she decided she’d locate all her expensive bags and line them up in the closet first then her shoes. She walked out the closet and looked at each box trying to decide which was which, looking for titles.
Nodding slowly, Wynter looked towards the left side of the closet and she eyed the area there before she sighed deeply. She loved moving but she hated the unpacking. Licking her lips, she began pulling the items from the box, shaking them out and sorting them. Turning towards clothing rack spaces, she grabbed a hanger and got to work. She would just hang them for now and allow Summer to sort through everything as she wanted when she returned home.
Ellie unstacked boxes and restacked them until she found the box she was looking for. She opened it up to double check before she moved it into the closet. Ellie began to move the various Chanel bags, YSL bags, Balenciaga bags, and Hermes bags lining them up on the shelves in the closet. She moved one by one, essentially color coordinating them in the closet. She had placed nearly 25 bags up on the shelves before she moved the empty box back out of the closet. Moving back into the closet Ellie then removed shoes and filled the other shelves, color coordinating the Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, YSL, and Gucci heels.
Wynter placed item after item onto a hanger and into the space before she looked back at Ellie and all of the bags that she had lined up. They were all designer and all very expensive. Wow. “Ellie…” Wynter said softly. “You’re rich, rich,” she giggled softly before she took the empty box off the island and moved it out of the room. She grabbed another box of Summer’s things, moving back into the closet easily. She sat it on the island, flipping the lapels open. She eyed the items before she looked at Ellie once more with all of her designer shoes, her eyebrows rising to her hairline.
Ellie looked at Wynter and shook her head a little with a smirk. “Nah,” she said to her smoothly. “Some were gifts,” she told her truthfully as she lined the shoes up, of which she had tons of thanks to the boutique as well. She continued to empty the shoe box until she took it out of the closet and back into the room. Ellie grabbed another box with clothes that were to be hung of hers and she grabbed some hangers moving to hang them up in color order in the spot she wanted them to go in.
Wynter watched Ellie and she nodded, “gifts?” she questioned her slightly. “So, you know my birthday is coming up,” she smiled brightly at Ellie as she began pulling out some of Summer’s undergarments with a small scrunch of her face. “Uh, is underwear going in this thing?” she asked, patting the island. “Or in the dresser?” she asked Ellie before she shifted on her feet. “Do you guys really need the dresser with all of this closet space?”
“Yeah gifts,” Ellie said, hanging up her more expensive dresses, sweats, and tops. Most of which had tags on them still. “Is it now?” she asked her slyly with a smirk on her lips and she hung more clothes up. “And what should Summer and I get you?” she asked the young girl. “No, I think we are going to use that for accessories and stuff, they’ll go in the dresser with pajamas, lounge wear, and underwear,” she told her. “Yes, we do, it completes the set one and two we have a lot of things. Well I know I do,” she told her softly.
Wynter smirked back at Ellie and she nodded, “it is, July 15th,” she told the woman easily. “Right around the corner,” she smiled. “Oh, I don’t know…” she chuckled softly, “I wouldn’t mind a Gucci backpack or something,” she said looking at Ellie before she pulled more of Summer’s undergarments from the box. However, at Ellie’s words and explanation, she stopped short. “Okay, so I’ll let Summer unpack this…” she trailed off as she looked back down into the box, her head tilting to the side slightly.
Ellie shook her head at the girl. “Is that right?” she asked her as she named exactly what she wanted for her birthday. “July 15th got it,” she responded, hanging up a few more shirts in the meantime. “No problem,” she told her easily as she worked through the box she was on.
Wynter nodded slightly at Ellie as she reached into the box, her fingers gripping into the edge of what looked like a picture. She pulled it out of the box from under the clothes and she held it up, gazing at the photo with a hum. She flipped it over to the back before she looked at it again. “Ellie…” she said, holding it out to the woman. It was an old sonogram photo with Summer’s name in the top left-hand corner along with other information displayed elsewhere across the image. “This is a sonogram, right?” she asked her, a bit confused. If course she knew what a sonogram looked like, but the fact that it was Summer’s was throwing her for a loop.
Ellie placed a dress on a hanger and placed it on the rack before she looked back. “Huh?” she asked her softly. She moved towards her pulling her yoga pants up over her stomach as she did. “A what?” she asked her confused as she looked down, she grabbed it from her and read the information across it. “Yeah,” she said barely as she looked on in shock, how the hell is this possible? In all of this time, she hadn’t heard a single thing about a child or what could have been. “You knew about this?” she asked, unsure of what else to say right now.
Wynter looked at Ellie as she moved closer and examined. At the question, Wynter shook her head. “No…” she said softly, looking at the picture of the fetus in Ellie’s hand. “This says 2012… I was like 7…” she bit her lip, looking towards Ellie in shock.
Ellie looked at Wynter and then she looked back down at the photo, she heard the girl’s words, but she was too confused herself to comment on that. Instead she looked at her and said, “put it back where you found it,” easily as she looked into her eyes and then walked away. Ellie knelt down by the box and she picked a shirt up out of it, what the hell?
Wynter stared at the side of Ellie’s face until she was told to put the sonogram back. “Huh?” she said softly, almost in a daze herself as she took the image from Ellie, her fingers gently grazing over the image before she licked her lips slowly. Lifting the items in the box, she gently placed it back where she thought that she had found it before she placed the rest of the items back into the box. Finally, she turned to Ellie and said, “Summer doesn’t have a kid…” knowingly. “I don’t even remember her… gaining weight or… being pregnant…” she said thoughtfully, racking her brain. She was young then but surely, she would have remembered that.
Ellie heard Wynter but she didn’t respond, the girl needed to place the item back where she got it from. Ellie continued to hang things up until the box was empty and she looked at Wynter saying nothing before she looked away from her grabbing another box filled with pants and jeans.
Wynter kept going as Ellie spoke no words. “Like… she would have said something right?” she asked Ellie as she grabbed the box and moved it out of the closet. “Do you think she got rid of it?” she spoke aloud, wondering to herself. “That just doesn’t seem like Summer…” she admitted, picking up another box and moving with it back into the closet. She sat the box down and looked at Ellie. “She didn’t mention it to you?”
Summer moved back into the house with bags of food in her hands. She moved through the space moving into the kitchen to place the bags down. She brushed her braids back before she moved back out to her car to grab the drinks. Holding the cup holder in one hand, Summer moved back into the house, closing and locking the door behind her as she did so. “I’m back!” she called out loudly as she moved to the kitchen again. Sitting the drinks down, she reached into one of the bags and pulled out her fries, popping a few into her mouth hungrily.
Ellie looked at Wynter as she continued to talk, rambling on and on before her. She placed another article of clothing up in the closet before she moved the folded jeans onto shelves. Ellie said, “no,” quietly to Wynter wanting her to drop it. They’d seen it but now it was time for them to erase it from their minds. Hearing Summer call out in the large empty space she looked at Wynter and said, “don’t say anything,” as she moved to walk out the closet. “Go eat,” she said pointing towards their bedroom door.
Wynter looked at Ellie as she answered the question and she bit her lip hard. “B-…” she trailed off her protest as Ellie told her to go eat sternly. Sighing out, she moved out of the closet and made her way downstairs. As she reached the kitchen, she looked at Summer, confusion spread across her face as she asked, “which one is mine?” looking at the various bags on the counter.
Summer pulled her container of atomic wings from the bag and looked at Wynter as she came down. She took in the expression of her sisters face and asked, “what’s wrong with you?” as she handed the girl her own Wingstop bag. “Where’s Ellie?” she asked next, looking towards the steps expectantly as she opened her container and bit down on a wing with a hum of appreciation.
Ellie watched Wynter leave and she moved back to Summer’s box, she shuffled through it finding the picture again. She tilted her head gently, none of this made sense to her still and she squinted. It wasn’t her business to know, she guessed, but clearly, she was hiding it. Why else would it be in this box of all places? Putting the photo back she moved out of the closet and through the house, down the stairs, and to the kitchen. She looked at Wynter, giving her a knowing look, before she looked at Summer.
Wynter shook her head. “Nothing, I’m fine,” she said easily, shaking it off. Taking the bag, Wynter opened it and began to pull her food out quietly. Her mind was racing a mile a minute. “Upstairs…” she said with a shrug as she stuffed a few fries into her mouth. As Ellie approached, Wynter looked back at her before she dropped her eyes to her food opening up her box. She looked at the Lemon Pepper wings with a small sigh before she picked one up and began to eat it.
Summer looked at Wynter, eyeing the girl carefully as she sucked the meat off the bone. Clearly the girl was not alright, but she’d take it for now. As Ellie approached Summer smirked at her, sliding the bag across the counter. “Fries and half and half, BBQ and Lemon Pepper,” she told her easily. “Y’all alright?” she questioned after she took a moment to really take in Ellie as well. What happened while she was gone? It had only been maybe 30 minutes.
Ellie watched the bag and she nodded her head at the woman, taking the bag and sliding it closer to herself. Ellie opened the bag and pulled her things out of it resting it on the counter. At Summer’s question she looked at her and then over to Wynter. “Yeah,” she said tucking her lips in before she opened her box of wings and looked them over.
Wynter stood there awkwardly, looking at her wings and fries as she ate. She wanted so badly to ask Summer so many questions, but she knew better of it. Clearly Summer had the image tucked away for a reason, she didn’t want it to be seen. Eating quietly, she shifted on her feet. “Uh, I’m going to go eat outside,” she told them before she collected her food and moved out to the backyard. She moved out towards the grilling area and sat her food down with a shake of her head.
Summer eyed them both as she ate another wing with a hum. They were both acting very strangely. Summer was sure Ellie was still a bit upset about what happened a few nights ago before the move but Wynter acting weird was odd to her. What was the deal? Licking her fingers a little, she watched as Wynter took her food and walked out to the backyard before she looked at Ellie. “What happened while I was out?”
Ellie picked up a few fries and popped them into his mouth chewing lightly on them. She grabbed the container of ranch and she popped the lid, dipping some fries into the sauce and placing them into her mouth. She chewed looking at Wynter as she left her alone with Summer and she sighed. At Summer’s question she looked up at her and said, “nothing,” as she picked up a chicken wing and began to eat it.
Summer looked at Ellie and she squinted slightly. “Okay…” she said with a hum, not really believing her but what else could she do? She picked up a few more of her fries before she said, “I talked to the delivery people while I was out; the dressers, couches, chairs, and tables should be here within the next 30 minutes to an hour,” before she pushed the fries into her mouth.
Ellie cleaned that bone and picked up another chicken wing eating from it as well, she nodded her head at her comment. “Good,” she said, her eyes not moving to Summer and she dropped that bone as well, licking her lips and picking up some fries and popping them into her mouth.
“Ellie…” Summer sighed out now, cleaning her hands with a napkin from the bag. “Can you please stop being mad at me now?” she asked. She had really thought maybe they were over it after moving in yesterday and all but clearly, they weren’t. “I’m sorry… okay…” Summer bit her lip hard, really not even sure what she was apologizing for now.
Ellie looked back up at Summer and she furrowed her brows at her, oh that. Yeah, she wanted to kill her for a few days but she hadn’t thought much of it for a while. She picked up some more fries and said, “I’m not mad,” to the woman looking up at her than down at her chicken as she picked a piece up and bit it. “No need to apologize,” she told her.
Looking at Ellie as the woman furrowed her brows, Summer tilted her head to the side a little. “Then what is it?” she asked her softly. “Is it the house?” she questioned curiously. “Both of you came down here like someone ran over your puppy…” she said, licking her lips before she picked up another wing and began to eat it, a bit of sweat forming on her brow from the intensity of the wings.
Ellie sighed heavily, sitting the wing down, she picked up a napkin and wiped her hands. “We found the sonogram Summer,” she finally said to her. She looked at the woman in her eyes for a long time before she closed her wing box. “We were trying to put everything away,” she said quietly as she rested the napkin on the counter and her hands.
Sucking the meat from the bone, Summer looked at Ellie as she sighed out like she was about to say something very heavy and when she did, Summer choked on the piece of meat sliding down her throat. She dropped the bone and began patting her chest gently as she reached for her drink. Gulping some down quickly, she looked at Ellie with wide eyes as she settled. She had no idea what to say. Truthfully, she didn’t know why she was still hanging onto the sonogram after all these years. All it was, was a painful memory.
Ellie looked at her watching her choke a little and she shuffled on her feet gently. She looked down before she looked back up. Summer didn’t say anything, so Ellie didn’t either instead she placed another fry into her mouth and chewed lightly.
Summer sat her cup down and she calmed herself, licking her lips slowly. She looked away from Ellie, then down at her food. Her appetite was completely gone now. She felt a bit numb too. Closing the container, Summer turned to the fridge and placed it inside randomly before she stood back at the counter, her hands pressed into it. “Well… now you know…” she said softly.
Ellie watched the woman as she put her food up and she tilted her head, at her words she shrugged slightly. “Know what?” she asked her. “What do I know?” she asked her. She saw a photo, that was it and nothing more. Any details revolving around it would have to come from her because a photo couldn’t tell her anything.
Summer looked at Ellie before she looked away from her, letting out a deep sigh. She shook her head slightly before she picked up a napkin and began to clean her hands more, fiddling with it. “I was pregnant once upon a time…” she said with a shrug.
Ellie looked at Summer as she wiped her hands and then nonchalantly told her she was pregnant once before. “Okay, that’s obvious,” she told her, biting her tongue to not further what she wanted to say. “Why didn’t you tell me?” she asked her curiously. “Is this what you called my sister over?” she asked her putting two-and-two together.
Summer sighed out, looking at the napkin in her hands at Ellie’s words. She pulled her bottom lip into her mouth gnawing on it. Ellie had hit her with two questions back to back and she didn’t know what to say. She let go of the napkin and ran her fingers through her braids before she looked to Ellie briefly. “I don’t talk about it,” she finally said, her shoulders dropping a bit, not answering the second question at all.
Ellie nodded her head at her. “Okay,” she said easily, that was understandable in her opinion. She didn’t talk about her abortion, so much so that her own sister didn’t know about it. So that was fine by her. She ate more of her fries before she searched for ketchup grabbing some to use as well on them.
Summer shifted on her feet slightly as Ellie just accepted the answer for what it was and she nodded slowly. Pressing her hands into the counter a bit harder, Summer gripped it slightly as she tried to keep her emotions at bay. It was over six years ago, but Summer still felt the pain like it was yesterday. She sniffled softly before she quickly wiped under her eyes, looking away from Ellie.
Ellie grabbed the ketchup and moved back to her fries, uncapping the bottle and squeezing some onto the fries and when she was done she sat the bottle down. She picked up fries and dipped them into the ranch as well eating on them quietly. “I was Wynter’s age when I lost my virginity,” she said as she stuck another fry into her mouth chewing lightly. “And I was a year older than her when I got pregnant,” she announced. She swallowed hard, “so I get it,” she said to her, “choices being made, you not being able to control them yourself,” she said to her. “I wanted the baby… I just couldn’t keep it,” she told her sighing softly. “You, God, and my best friend are the only people that know,” she told her.
Summer sniffled a bit more, trying to suck up her tears as she stared down at the floor. However, when Ellie began to speak, Summer looked over at her slowly. She blinked hard, a tear rolling down her face as Ellie spoke to her, telling her things that she already knew. She sucked in a harsh breath at Ellie’s story. She’d had an abortion at fifteen, but it still wasn’t the same. She was sure Ellie still felt pain from it and she definitely felt for her. “I’m sorry Ellie…” Summer whispered, her voice shaking a bit as she swallowed hard. “I… I didn’t have an abortion though…” she said simply, explaining a bit more of her own story.
Ellie looked at Summer as she cried. “I gathered that,” she told her, looking down apparently, she was just told in a very sly way that their pain didn’t equate, funny. She looked back up at her tilting her head to the right and she said, “I’m sorry,” back to her, it was only right. They have both lost children there was no need to weigh either in her opinion.
Summer shifted on her feet at Ellie’s response to her. “I, uh, I had a miscarriage at sixteen weeks…” she said softly, shaking her head a little. “J-Jasmine found me in the bathroom of our dorm basically bleeding out…” she whispered, wiping more tears from under her eyes.
Ellie continued to look at her and she nodded her head slowly, as the woman went to explain the gruesome details and she looked down, closing her eyes gently. What a trigger she never expected. Ellie can distinctly remember screaming crying for days straight, well at least that was Sabrina’s account. She looked up at her as she pushed off the counter moving towards her. “It’s okay,” she told her very quietly as she wrapped the woman up in her arms.
Summer used her palms to wipe her face gently as she tried her hardest to not relive that day. As Ellie moved for her, wrapping her up, she wrapped her arms back around the woman. Hugging Ellie close, Summer pressed a kiss to her forehead as she sniffled hard. She dropped her head to the top of Ellie’s, squeezing her a bit as she held her. “Ellie I’m really sorry,” she breathed out.
Ellie hugged Summer tightly and she rubbed her hand up and down the woman’s back. “Stop apologizing,” she whispered to her quietly, she closed her eyes and let her heavy tear fall finally. “You okay?” she asked, pulling away from her gently to stroke her face.
Holding Ellie, Summer sniffled hard ass Ellie told her to stop apologizing. Pulling back a little, Summer gazed at Ellie, her hands coming up to wipe the tear that fell down Ellie’s cheek. Nodding, she said, “y-yeah…” as she pressed a kiss to her lips gently before she pulled back once more. She inhaled and exhaled slowly, “just still really tough…” she bit her lip.
Ellie nodded her head at her as she spoke and she kissed her back gently against her lips. “Yeah,” she said nodding, sniffles leaving her as she caught two more tears before they could fall down her face with the palm of her hand.
Biting her lip hard, Summer gazed at Ellie. “A-are you okay?” she asked softly. An abortion at fifteen. That was baffling to her. She couldn’t even imagine. She brought a hand to Ellie’s cheek as well, stroking away one of her tears.
Ellie nodded her head at the woman but she wasn’t; she was hurt and she began to cry a little harder now, why she didn’t know. Maybe because of what she had done or from telling Summer her deepest darkest secret. She didn’t know but the flood gate had been open.
Summer nodded at Ellie’s nod and she hugged Ellie close once more, holding her tightly as she once again dropped her head to Ellie’s. As Ellie began sobbing Summer held her tighter, her hands rubbing up and down her back gently. Ellie crying the way she was, stirred up emotions inside of her and she began to cry harder as well. She let out a small cry, hugging Ellie even tighter. She vividly remembered walking into the bathroom after she felt some of the most excruciating cramps of her life only to fall to her knees in pain. Having a miscarriage at sixteen weeks was literally like pushing out your child as if you were delivering.
Ellie held onto Summer sniffling harder now as she tried to calm herself down, this happened to have been the very first serious thing they experienced together. It was also the first time Ellie ever full out cried in front of the woman before. She swallowed hard as she clutched Summer as she cried along with her.
Summer sniffled hard, holding into Ellie for dear life as she shook a bit in her arms. Emotions were spilling from her left and right, but it did feel like a weight had been lifted off of her chest now that Ellie knew. Closing her eyes, tears still slid from them as she gripped Ellie. “Wow…” she breathed out softly, “we are broken as fuck,” she said truthfully as she cried.
Ellie exhaled quietly and pulled away from the woman as she looked at her intensely. She grabbed herself a napkin and Summer one as well, handing it over to her she used her own to dry her face. She wasn’t broken, she hated that damn word.
Summer shifted as Ellie pulled away from her and handed her the napkin and she took it, patting her face dry. She let out a deep, sad sigh as she looked at Ellie with a small frown. “What?” she asked her softly now, voice a little hoarse from the crying.
Ellie shook her head at her and said, “nothing,” quietly as she continued to pat her face dry. She sat the napkin aside licking her lips gently. “We should finish unpacking,” she suggested.
Summer nodded slightly at Ellie as she blew her nose before she moved to toss the napkin in the trash and wash her hands. At Ellie’s suggestion, Summer nodded. “Y-Yeah…” she said, clearing her throat as she moved to place her fries into the fridge to finish later. Feeling her phone buzz in her pocket, she pulled it out and looked at the message. “The furniture just arrived,” she told Ellie with a sigh.
Wynter, who had long since finished eating, had been squatting just outside of the kitchen window, listening to every word they shared and she had her hand clamped over her mouth as she cried softly, feeling for the both of them. She was in a state of utter shock.
Ellie looked away from Summer and she nodded her head at the woman as she leaned against the counter with arms folded over her chest. “I’ll go get Wynter,” she told her as she walked away from the woman and moved outside for her in the backyard.
Summer licked her lips slowly as she wiped her face with her hands one more time before she moved to get the door. Walking outside to the front of the house, she eyed the giant truck that housed much of their furniture and the four guys that were currently unloading things into the sidewalk.
Wynter heard Ellie and she scrambled up as quickly as she could, using her shirt to wipe her face as she tried to rush away from the window. She clambered back over to the grill quickly.
Ellie walked outside and looked at Wynter, she took her in and licked her lips. “The furniture is being delivered,” she told her folding her arms over her chest. “You okay?” she asked her.
Summer watched them closely before she let out a sigh and moved down the walkway, meeting the men on the sidewalk. She stood there, her hands on her hips as she licked her lips slowly. Luckily there were four guys because she wasn’t about to hurt her back trying to help them. Not after lifting all of the heavy boxes just a day ago.
Wynter turned and looked at Ellie slowly, biting her lip hard as she nodded. “Okay,” she said, “Uh, I’m finished…” she trailed off at Ellie’s question and she nodded once more. “Y-Yeah, I’m fine,” she said as she stifled a sniffle, her eyes red.
Ellie looked at Wynter and she moved to her reaching her arms out for the girl to get a hug. “You heard us?” she asked her softly as she rubbed her back gently.
“Uh, we can start by just getting everything into the living room,” Summer said to the guys. “There’s plenty of space and from there, my girlfriend can tell you where she wants everything,” she told them easily as she turned back to the front gate before she said, “I’ll open the driveway gate, it’ll be much easier to move the bigger items through that way.”
Wynter gazed at Ellie and she nodded softly as she walked into her arms for the hug. She buried her face in Ellie’s neck and let out a harsh breath as she hugged her tightly. “I am so sorry Ellie,” Wynter said lovingly.
Ellie nodded her head. “It’s fine little duck,” she told her lovingly, “I’m okay and Summer is okay. I think you should talk to her, if you need to. Don’t hold it in okay,” she told her, pecking her forehead gently.
Summer moved to open the gate, locking it in place to keep it open for the guys. “Please be careful inside of the house, if you scuff the floors, she will kill you with her bare hands…” Summer told them as they moved past her holding the plastic wrapped white couch Ellie had picked out for the living room.
Wynter slowly pulled her face from Ellie’s neck and she nodded slowly. “I’m a listening ear if you ever want to talk,” she told Ellie softly. “And I’ll talk to Summer…” she said gently, with a sniffle as she used her hand to wipe under her nose.
Ellie nodded at the girl a small chuckle leaving her. “Sure thing,” she said softly. She stroked her cheek before she said, “come on,” dragging her back into the home with her arm wrapped around her.
Summer nodded her head, watching as the other two men moved past her with the dresser for Wynter’s room. She followed behind them into the house. “Oh, ah, please watch the door frame,” she said wincing softly.
Wynter smiled softly at Ellie and she wiped her eyes once more before she nodded, letting Ellie tug her along into the house.
New Light
INVOLVED: Summer Sanders, Ellie Rose, and Wynter Sanders TIME FRAME: Saturday, April 18, 2020 LOCATION: Sanders-Rose Home; Walmart; Los angeles, California SUMMARY: It’s finally move in day and Summer is a bit fed up with Ellie and her antics of not really putting in any work, while Summer and Wynter did. After a mishap on Ellie’s apart, Summer sent Ellie away for a bit while she and Wynter finished unloading. With that, Ellie apologized when she returned and the trio went to the store to pick up a few things for the new home.
After several weeks of waiting, furniture shopping, and prepping they had finally made it. They were finally moving in. Earlier this week they had received the keys and now here they were, moving box after box from the uHaul. Squatting down, Summer lifted what felt like the hundredth box and she grunted as she did. “What the fuck is in here?” she asked, gently shaking the heavy box as she carefully walked down the ramp, moving for the house. She walked through the gate that they had propped open and moved up the walkway swiftly, holding the box close to her body as she did. Moving into the house, Summer sat the box down in the large empty space of the living room and she huffed, looking at the writing on the side of the box with a roll of her eyes. More of Ellie’s shoes. Shaking her head, her high ponytail swung back and forth as she used her forearm to wipe a bit of sweat from her brow.
Ellie picked up one of the lightest boxes out of the back of the uHaul and she moved down the ramp behind Summer, pursing her lips as she noticed the side of the box. She moved in the home behind Summer and sat the light box on top of another. “Jesus this is too much work,” she told Summer, “why didn’t we pay someone to do this for us?” she asked resting her hands on her lower back as she sighed. Shifting on her Yeezy covered feet and she stood there in her Ivy Park merch. “Not to mention I am hotter than hell,” she told her girlfriend.
Wynter huffed out, licking her dry lips as she picked up a smaller but still pretty heavy box. She moved quickly, holding it and carrying it how Summer instructed her to so that she didn’t mess up her back. She moved into the house, sitting the box down on the floor before she moved right back outside to grab another, shaking her head at Ellie’s antics. The woman hadn’t broken a sweat nor had she done any of the real labor. She took breaks every few minutes and only grabbed the lightest of boxes. It irritated Wynter but she said nothing as she picked up yet another box of the seeming hundreds more they had to go.
Summer looked over at Ellie dressed up in her Ivy Park fit and Yeezy’s with a full face of makeup, without a drop of sweat on her body and she squinted at her, scowling a bit even. “Are you?” Summer asked her with a hint of an attitude as she used her tank top to wipe more sweat from her face. “Mm,” she hummed out as she made her way for the door once more. Moving back outside, Summer rubbed her hands on her plain gray sweatpants, wiping sweat from them as well so that she could properly grip the boxes. Moving into the truck, Summer picked up a box and she stood there waiting for Ellie so that she could hand the heavy box over.
At Summer’s words Ellie furrowed her brows at her before saying, “rude,” easily. She pursed her lips again at the woman as she stood there on her feet shifting. Following the her back outside she slowly moved her way towards the truck and she moved past Summer easily to find a light box to pull out again.
Wynter stacked two lighter boxes on top of each other, moving out of the truck carefully as she took them into the house. She sat them down before she moved to lean against the counter for a second, taking a small break to catch her breath and wipe some sweat.
Summer stood there as Ellie called herself walking past her, she said, “aht, aht, aht, Ellie take this box,” as she turned, moving to Ellie shoving it into her arms. She made sure it was secured and wouldn’t fall before she released her grip on it with a huff. “You only grabbing light boxes ain’t about to fly,” she said shaking her head. “What you going to do when all the light boxes in the house?” she asked, “just watch us grab everything else?” she questioned Ellie, “uh, uh not going to happen.”
Ellie looked to Summer and she allowed the girl to shove the box into her arms, she squinted at her lightly. “You don’t even have to talk to me like that,” she growled lowly as she walked away from Summer with an attitude. She moved into the house and looked to Wynter with a little agitation before she tossed the box down uncaringly. She moved back out towards the uHaul and snatched up another heavy box, as they so very well put it and acted, as she lugged it into the home dropping it onto the other box before she moved back outside. Again, why hadn’t they paid someone to do this was beyond her? They already had to empty them all and organize all of their things.
Wynter watched Ellie as she came into the house and dropped the box on the floor, and she winced as she read the side of the box. Those were Summer’s trophies and medals. They were keepsakes and pretty fragile after all these years. She hoped nothing was broken as she picked up her water jug from off the counter and took a sip. As Ellie entered with another box and dropped it on top of Summer’s prized trophies Wynter almost spat out her water. Oh no.
Summer rolled her eyes at Ellie’s words and she waved her off as she picked up an extra-large box, moving into the house with it carefully. It was extremely heavy, so she took her time. Shaking her head slightly as Ellie breeze past her to and from the truck. As she got into the house, she sat the box down near the wall and looked over to Ellie after she dropped a box on top of another. Summer squirted at Ellie and said, “are you even reading the sides, what if that stuff was fragile?” she asked before she read the boxes. Her eyes bulged and she looked at Ellie with daggers. If looks could kill. Summer quickly walked over, pushing the other box to the side a little and she flipped open the lapels of her trophy box, seeing a few broken from Ellie’s antics and she looked at Ellie with a squint. She picked up a broken trophy and huffed. “Ellie…” she began with a soft but irritated tone. “Can you go and grab us some food?” she asked her, trying to remain level-headed. “Wynter and I will continue to unload…” she said as her face turned a bit red.
Ellie looked to Summer as she snapped on her, asking if she read the box and she folded her arms over her chest. Knowing she hadn’t read the box, she said nothing back to Summer as the girl went to check the items that were inside. Honestly, she had no business throwing anything, because there were some fragile things among all the boxes. She licked her lips as Summer stood back up and told her to go and get something to eat for them. She sighed to herself and moved to walk back out of the house, she moved for her car, where her purse and phone sat while they worked. She climbed into the car without another word and moved down the road to grab them something to eat as they asked her to.
Wynter looked between Summer and Ellie with wide eyes as she placed the cap back on her jug. She looked to the broken trophy in Summer’s hand and winced slightly. She stayed quiet as Summer told Ellie to grab them some food and she bit her lip watching Ellie leave. Wow. Wynter walked over to Summer and placed her hand on her sister’s arm. “Can we glue it back?” she asked.
Summer watched Ellie go and she let out a harsh breath through her nose before she looked at her sister. “I don’t know,” she said with a bit of disappointment as she sat the trophy back in the box. She picked up the entire box and moved it into the counter for now. She calmed herself down with a few deep breaths and grabbed a sip of water before she turned to Wynter. “I can’t dwell on it right now,” she told her sister. “C’mon let’s get back to work. We gotta finish this,” she said with a sigh.
Ellie came back down the road after 30 minutes; she licked her lips as she pulled up to their home and she parked her car and turned it off. She grabbed her purse and her phone this time before she grabbed the takeout bags and drinks moving to close the door with her hip. She felt bad now, she didn’t mean to break anything, especially not anything of theirs, as she angrily brought things into the home. She moved into the house and she sat the food on the kitchen counter and said, “food,” easily before she sat the cup holder on the counter. She then opened the bag and sat the meals in their containers on the counter as well. She bought them all steak, lobster, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. “And dessert,” she said to them as she rested a set of cupcakes on the counter for all of them.
Wynter sat on the floor now in the midst of all of the boxes, reading over labels with Summer, sorting the boxes by where they belonged in the house. “Oh, this one is a kitchen box,” she said as she slid the box to Summer. Looking up as Ellie entered the house, Wynter’s stomach growled loudly at the smell of the delicious food and before she knew it, she was on her feet, following the smell. She stood over Ellie’s shoulder as she watched as she pulled the containers from the bag and she licked her lips slowly. “Mmm,” she said.
Summer sat on the floor eyeing a box that belonged in the bathroom category and she pushed it with her foot towards where those boxes were stacking up before she grabbed the box Wynter had pushed towards her, “Thanks,” she said before she turned her head, looking back at Ellie as she entered with bags of food. She continued to sit there, moving and pushing boxes where they belonged until she heard the word dessert. Slowly she turned her head, eyeing the box of cupcakes on the counter and she licked her lips slowly.
Ellie looked to Wynter and said, “eat up,” to her easily before she moved for Summer knowingly. She looked at her and said, “I am sorry,” easily; usually that would have taken far more work from the person she was sorry to for her to even apologize. “I didn’t mean to break your trophy,” she said as she moved to kneel down in front of her. “Forgive me, please,” she said cutely as she pecked her lips. “I bought you cupcakes,” she exclaimed, pecking her lips again. “I will find a way to fix it,” she said with a pout as she pecked her lips again.
Wynter smiled as Ellie stepped aside and she picked up the container, popping the lid off easily. She inhaled the smell and groaned softly before she reached into the bag, grabbing a plastic fork and she stuck it into her steak, lifting the entire thing up into the air before she bit into a corner of it hungrily.
Summer turned back to her task at hand, her shoulders falling a bit at Ellie’s apology. She looked up at Ellie as she knelt before her and a sigh escaped her. She gently kissed Ellie back and said, “I forgive you,” gently. She pecked Ellie’s lips once more, wiping her hands off on her sweats as she asked, “what flavor cupcakes?” At Ellie’s pout, the corners of Summer’s lips twitched up slightly and she whispered, “you better.” Moving to stand up carefully, Summer dusted her hands off on her sweats a bit more before she walked over to the sink and rinsed off her hands, since the soap was still boxed up somewhere. She grabbed a container and flipped it open, looking at Ellie shocked. “Steak and lobster?” she asked as she picked up a plastic fork and dug into her asparagus.
Ellie looked to Summer and she smirked at her widely. “Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry,” she said cutely as she pecked her lips again. At her words Ellie smirked, her eyes darkening a little and when Summer got up. Ellie used the box to get back onto her feet and she moved behind Summer. She looked to Summer and nodded her head gently as she watched them eat. “Good right?” she asked them as she moved open her container, grabbed set of forks and knives, she opened them before she stopped and washed her hands first. When she was done, she moved back over to her food sticking some mashed potatoes in her mouth.
Wynter watched Summer and Ellie move to the sink to rinse their hands and she thought about her own before she shrugged. She had already started eating now. Oh well. They didn’t have any soap anyway. She ate more of her steak before she sat it down and dug into her lobster, scarfing the meat down quickly. She sat her container down on the counter, hunching over it a bit as she ate her mashed potatoes now and she looked over at Summer. “You gon’ eat your lobster?”
Summer smirked as she eyed the cupcake box as she ate some more of her asparagus before she moved to her mashed potatoes. She scarfed those down hungrily before finally she cut into her steak, taking a bite. At Wynter’s question she looked over at her with a squint and said, “yes,” as she began guarding her container. “Ol’ hungry ass,” she mumbled playfully.
Ellie looked between the two as she stuffed more mashed potatoes into her mouth. At Wynter’s question, Ellie gave the girl her lobster tail and in return she took her asparagus out of her container knowingly. She placed two pieces of the asparagus into her mouth and she pushed the cupcakes away from Summer knowingly. She handed Summer a sweet tea and Wynter a sprite, before she grabbed her coke and she handed out the straws before she moved to cut into her medium-well steak and she chewed it lightly.
Wynter squinted at Summer as she ate more of her mashed potatoes before she smiled as Ellie gave her the lobster from her container. “Thank you,” she said as Ellie took her asparagus and she quickly dug into the lobster, eating it’s meat as well before she returned to her steak.
Summer scoffed at Wynter as she squinted and she ate some of her lobster easily before she moved back to her steak. She looked at Ellie as she pushed the box of cupcakes aside and she licked her lips. “What? You said I could have one,” she said to Ellie as she continued to eye the box, eating a bit more of her food.
“Yes, after you eat all of your food,” Ellie told Summer with a wink and she turned to Wynter and said, “you are welcome,” easily before she turned back to her steak. “I’ll organize all of the things,” she told them knowingly; they’d basically done all the work, like they said.
Wynter quickly finished her steak, two lobsters, and mashed potatoes. She sat the container down picking up her sprite and sipping some down before she burped softly. “‘Scuse me,” she said as she rubbed her stomach, full and happy now. At Ellie’s words, she looked at her out the corner of her eye and said, “no, I’ll still help,” as she wiped her hands off on her sweatpants and moved around the counter. She sat back down on the floor, moving boxes as needed.
Summer pursed her lips at Ellie and she pouted a bit. “Okay, okay,” she said as she ate more of her food, hungrily. Summer finished off her food and sat the container aside. Taking a sip of her sweet tea, she eyed the box of cupcakes, rubbing her hands together. She smiled as she moved around Ellie, giving her hips a squeeze as she passed, before she got to the box. She flipped the top open with one finger and eyes the beautiful cupcakes. Her tongue rolled over her lips slowly and she carefully plucked one of each flavor from the box, sitting them on the counter. She closed the lid and picked up the vanilla cupcake, pulling the wrapper down on the side as her mouth watered.
Ellie looked to Wynter and nodded her head at her though the young girl didn’t have to help her honestly. As Summer moved towards the cupcakes, she eyed her discreetly; she sighed to herself and shook her head. She wanted to tell Summer to only eat two if anything, but she left her alone and allowed her to eat them in peace.
Wynter realized they basically had things sorted by all the categories and she flipped open a box in the kitchen category, looking through it swiftly. She began to pull out things one by one, moving and stacking things up on the counter before she said to them, “you know what I’ve just realized…” she began with a shake of her head. “All of the room stuff now has to be lugged up the stairs…” she said, shaking her head.
Summer bit into the cupcake, groaning softly as the cupcake melted into her mouth. She closed her eyes, savoring every last bite of the cupcake before she looked at Ellie, her eyes sparkling. “So good,” she mumbled as she picked up the strawberry cupcake now, unwrapping it. Looking over at her sister, Summer’s face dropped slightly and she said, “we don’t have to do that today.” Biting into the cupcake, she licked her lips before adding, “and I can go to the store tomorrow and get a dolly to make it easier,” she explained.
Ellie looked to Summer closing her container, she was done for now. She licked her lips and sighed. “I’ll do that part guys,” she said to her. As Summer devoured the cupcakes, “good babe” she told her softly. She looked to the trash and picked it all up, placing it in the takeout bag. “We need to go to the store and buy some everyday house essentials: napkins, soap, garbage bags, garbage cans,” she listed “cleaning products so that I can clean our bathrooms,” she sighed thinking to herself she might hire someone to do that for them at this point.
Wynter sat a few wrapped plates and cups down on the counter as she looked between Summer and Ellie. She licked her lips slowly, eyeing the cupcakes and she opened the box, carefully grabbing out a strawberry one, quickly unwrapping it and taking a bite. “Well, we still have to get the blow-up mattresses,” she said thoughtfully. “Might as well leave the rest of this for tomorrow and just go to the store now and get that stuff before it gets too late, right?” she said, pulling her phone from her pocket, looking at the time as she took another bite of her cupcake.
Summer devoured the cupcake and she looked to Ellie, nodding slowly before she looked to Wynter. She looked at her watch as she unwrapped the final cupcake, chocolate, as she looked around at all of the boxes in the living room. “And we still need to return the uHaul,” she mused to herself. Eating the chocolate cupcake in two bites, Summer licked her lips, dusting off her hands. “Okay, so… we should probably leave the rest of this for tomorrow and the upcoming week,” she said thoughtfully. “It’s all in the house so the bulk of the work is complete,” she said as she leaned against the counter now. “It’s 5:30,” she said, “we do have to get the uHaul back by 8,” she licked her lips, “so I think we should take the uHaul back now, I’ll drive it, baby you can follow behind in your car so we can just drop it off then head straight to the store to get everything off the essentials list,” she said as she looked at her.
Ellie looked at them as they ate the sweet treat and she nodded her head. “That’s right,” she told them as she thought about it. “Okay, let’s do that,” she told them thoughtfully as she grabbed her purse and her cellphone. “I want to at least clean the bathrooms and set up the linen closets for you guys to take baths and stuff tonight,” she said to them. “We need to wash clothes and all that jazz,” she added.
Wynter listened to Summer and she nodded as she finished off her cupcake and responded to a text message. Sliding her phone back into her pocket, she rubbed her hand over the back of her damp neck, rubbing some of her loose curls as well and said, “well I’m ready,” with a shrug as she moved closer to the two of them.
Summer nodded at Ellie and she smirked at her, “what you don’t want to lay next to me sweaty ass tonight?” she asked her, puckering her lips a bit as she looked at Ellie. Straightening up, Summer moved over to the sink, letting the cool water run and she splashed some on her face before she turned to them and she checked her pocket for her keys and the keys to the truck. “Okay, let’s hit it,” she said as she moved for the door.
Wynter walked through the Walmart with her earbuds in her ears, bobbing her head along to the music as she trekked a few feet behind Summer and Ellie, texting away on her phone.
Summer pushed the basket, filled with various items and she looked over at Ellie saying, “we can scratch trash bags off the list, I grabbed some,” she said as she pointed to the box in the cart. “What else do we need?”
Ellie moved to scratch garbage bags off her list, she had handwritten one, literally, for their trip. She hated Walmart but it was Summer’s choice to go and she accepted it for what it was. As they came across the cleaning products, she took the initiative to find the method section and she grabbed various cleaning products for their home within that selection. She scratched that off her list and grabbed hand soap from the same brand, picking the refillable bottle knowing that she was most likely fill the decorative canisters with it instead. She scratched that off her list and said, “I need a broom and mop,” to Wynter, “not a cheap one,” she added to her swiftly as she moved for the bathroom fragrance aisle and she grabbed fragrance additives for the toilet and then actual fresheners and plug ins.
Wynter moved with them swiftly, following just steps behind as she continued to bob her head mumbling the lyrics to herself. “Real ass nigga, give a fuck 'bout a bitch, It is what it is, this some five star dick, She a big ol' freak, it's a must that I hit…” Wynter took out an AirPod as Ellie turned to her and she nodded slowly. “A mop and a broom got it,” she said easily as she walked way to go grab the items that Ellie requested.
Summer nodded at Ellie as she continued to push the cart forward. She licked her lips watching as Ellie placed item after item in the cart, checking things off as she did. “Uh, did we grab laundry stuff?” she asked, eyeing their cart. It was so full; in a minute they were going to need another one. “Also, we need to grab bedding,” she said thoughtfully.
Ellie checked an item off and said, “not yet,” to her quietly as she thought to herself for a moment. She looked at the cart and then back at Summer, “which?” she asked referring to brands “Tide or Gain?” she breathed as she looked to her phone, she was adding stuff to their cart and balancing an Amazon cart as well. She bit her lip before she said, “yeah,” as a reply to Summer easily though she already purchased some bedding for them from Saks that would be shipped to them, as well as their bathroom decor. “We just need something cheap for now, I ordered us bedding already,” she told her sweetly.
Wynter moved into the proper aisle and she stood there, eyeing the variety of mops and brooms with a hum. “Nothing cheap,” she mumbled to herself, heeding Ellie’s words. “It’s Walmart… it’s all cheap,” she added with a smirk to herself as she grabbed a broom and she moved it around a bit making sure it was at the least sturdy and had strong bristles. She then grabbed an entire mop set containing the mopping bucket and all before she moved to find them once more.
Summer hummed out as she leaned against the cart now. She was so tired. It had been such a long day. “I don’t have a preference,” Summer admitted. “Uh, Tide,” she finally said. A small yawn escaped Summer and she nodded, “Okay babe, I’ll go and grab some,” she said thoughtfully as she leaned up, stretching her back a bit as she did. She moved to Ellie, dropping a kiss on her forehead before she moved to leave the aisle to find some sheets.
Ellie nodded her head at Summer and she moved to grab a large bottle of Tide for them, the fabric softener, and additional scent additives. She came back and looked at Summer nodding her head. “Okay,” she breathed to Summer as she kissed her forehead when Wynter surfaced Ellie thanked her. “I just ordered a trash can that is voice controlled on Amazon,” she said to the girl with a chuckle before she shifted pulling the cart with her. “Summer is going to get sheets,” she told her before she said, “all of this and none of it is food,” with a headshake. “The night will be long tadpole,” she warned.
Wynter approached Ellie, watching as Summer walked off and she handed over the items that she had picked up. “Cool,” Wynter smiled as she leaned against the cart some. “I think we need another basket,” she admitted to Ellie as she walked alongside her. Laughing softly, Wynter said, “it’s been a long day, I don’t even want to imagine the night,” she shook her head.
Summer found the sheets and she grabbed a comforter set for her and Ellie, California king size, and a set for Wynter, queen size. She held both of the large plastic wrapped sets in her hands as she moved to find Ellie and Wynter before she remembered they needed pillows too and she grabbed a few juggling it all in her hands. She struggled but she managed as she walked up on Wynter and Ellie and she pilled the items up in the cart with a huff.
Looking at the cart now that Summer returned, Ellie sighed. “We do,” she said to Wynter. “We still have to get the air mattresses and there is no food in this cart,” she breathed as she looked at her watch. Ellie looked to Summer before she said “I just ordered some stuff off amazon to come to the house so outside of the mattresses and a little food here and there. I think we should be done. It’s getting late,” she told her.
Wynter looked at Summer as she approached with the bedding and she held a few of the items steady as Summer plopped it all down in the cart. Looking to Ellie once more, Wynter said, “so we need to grab food and that's it,” she nodded. “I’ll grab another cart,” she said as she moved away to get one.
Summer licked her lips and she said, “and I’ll just go grab the mattresses before we forget. She dropped another kiss on Ellie’s forehead before she disappeared to grab the mattresses, making sure to grab quality ones with a built-in pump.
Ellie looked to Wynter and she nodded her head as the girl scurried off. She then she looked to Summer and smirked as she kissed her forehead and scurried off. Ellie moved towards the food section slowly, she was still ordering stuff on Amazon as she did, trying to make sure that she stayed out of people’s way.
Wynter made her way to the front of the store, grabbing the basket and she pushed it easily as she looked down at her phone, smiling at a message and she pushed the cart without really looking as she responded to the text. She looked up quickly, almost hitting someone with the cart and she mumbled, “sorry,” as she tucked her phone away, waking up beside Elle in the main aisle.
Summer grabbed the two different sized air mattresses off the shelves and began making her way towards the main aisle, finding Ellie and Wynter quickly. She placed the boxes in the cart Wynter grabbed and she took over pushing it as she moved beside Ellie. “Okay just food and we’re good to go,” she said with a tired hum.
Ellie checked out through amazon again before she looked up. “Yeah,” she told Summer quickly. “I will do the rest of the grocery shopping online and pick it up in store,” she told her quickly. “Thanks for getting a cart Wynter,” she told her as she moved to the food section completely. “So, what food do we want to get right now?” she asked the two.
Wynter let Summer take over the cart and she transferred the bedding stuff to the bottom of the cart as they walked slowly. “Hmm,” Wynter said, “well we’re definitely going to need breakfast and lunch tomorrow.” Licking her lips, she stuffed her hands into her pockets, “and maybe some snacks?” she said with a shrug.
Summer nodded a bit as she moved step by step with Ellie into the food section. She nodded along with Wynter and said, “that seems like that should be it. Like you said baby we can order it and pick everything else up tomorrow or at a later date,” she said with a small yawn.
Ellie looked to Wynter and Summer and she nodded her head. “Get what you guys would like for breakfast and lunch then and Wynter get whatever snacks you’d liked,” she told them. “I just require eggs and coffee to start my day” she said, moving to grab her some K Cups and a carton of eggs for them. She also grabbed some form of vegan butter and coffee creamer before she found Summer placing them in the cart that Summer had, pulling the other cart behind her as she did.
Wynter licked her lips and she nodded. “Okay I’ll be back,” she said easily as she moved down to the cereal aisle, she picked up Cap’n Crunch Crunch Berries, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Apple Jacks before she moved further down the aisle, grabbing a box of PopTarts and a box of Scooby Snacks. Biting her lip, she jugged the boxes in her hand before she moved back to the cart placing them down only to disappear once more. She then moved for the snack aisle, grabbing some chips and dip and a box of popcorn. She moved around and grabbed a box of Capri Sun’s as well before she found Ellie placing that stuff in the cart. On to Lunch ideas, Wynter moved for the freezer section grabbing a few Lunchables.
Summer nodded and she broke away from Ellie moving for the cereal aisle with Wynter. She grabbed a box of instant oatmeal and a box of granola bars before she found herself in the diary section getting milk and yogurt. Returning to Ellie, Summer placed the items down in the cart saying, “I’m okay with maybe order something for lunch tomorrow.”
Ellie nodded her head at Summer as she watched them drop junk into the cart, she watched Wynter disappear and she stood where they were waiting for her to return. “After she gets back, we can go check out,” she told Summer.
Wynter grabbed three different Lunchables before she returned to the cart triumphantly. “Okay that’s it,” she said with a smile as she placed the items down. She looked across the carts of all of the stuff they’d collected, whistling softly. This was going to be a lot of money.
“What else could she possibly be grabbing?” Summer asked, looking at all of the things Wynter grabbed. “We’re just getting stuff for tomorrow, not the entire month,” she told her sister shaking her head with a chuckle.
Ellie looked to Summer with a smirk and when the girl returned, she asked her “finished?” she confirmed it and they moved to walk towards a check-out line. Ellie tucked her phone and the finished list away in her purse as she pushed the heavier cart.
Wynter smiled at Ellie and she nodded, “yes that’s it.” She placed her hands in her pockets and yawned out. “I am so tired,” she chuckled. As she made her way to the front of the store.
Summer laid sprawled out in the center of the blow-up mattress, her face buried under the pillow as she rested, exhausted. “I am so tired,” she mumbled to Ellie as she wiggled her toes from out of the covers.
Ellie stretched her tired body and her short limbs a bit against the air mattress and she looked over at Summer smirking. She rolled onto her side in her silk pajama top and short cuddling up to Summer. She draped a leg over the girl’s long limbs and moved the pillow, pecking her temple and stroked her wild hair. “Go to sleep,” she replied smirking.
Summer let out a yawn, feeling Ellie roll towards her and as Ellie lifted the pillow and kissed her, she smirked softly. “I’m tryin’,” she admitted as she rolled over a little, shifting on her side a bit as she gazed at Ellie with soft eyes, “but… we’re in our own home…” she said, licking her lips. “I have too much excitement…” she said as her hand moved to rest on Ellie’s hip, just holding her there.
Ellie watched Summer and she chuckled at her lightly. “Well you can stay up but I am shutting my eyes,” she joked before she pecked her lips. She looked at her for a long time before she said, “I am really happy and excited myself,” she confessed. “I love the house, I love you, Wynter is happy,” she added. “I’m sorry about the trophy baby. I am going to make it up to you,” she said as she kissed her lips again. “That will never happen again,” she also added before she said, “I won’t catch an attitude with you again.” She didn’t know if she could but she’d try.
Summer chuckled softly and she rubbed Ellie’s hip lovingly. “I love you too baby girl,” she whispered before she sighed out, “it’s okay… just material things right,” she said with a small shrug. Her old trophies and medals meant a lot to her but they were just things at the end of the day. At Ellie’s vow to never cop an attitude again Summer smirked and she said, “don’t play yourself like that,” she gripped Ellie’s hip. “We're bound to annoy each other and get attitudes and work each other's nerves,” she said knowingly. “It’s a part of relationships and love… it’s just how we handle it that matters the most,” she whispered.
Ellie looked to Summer. “I will try to contain it better,” she replied instead. She kissed Summer again before she shifted them, laying her head on Summer’s chest and she said, “thank you, I couldn’t be any happier than I am right now,” she said closing her eyes gently.
Nodding slightly, Summer said, “me too,” and she kissed Ellie back lovingly before she laid back, allowing Ellie to lay against her. She shifted, dragging her hand up and down Ellie’s back sweetly as she dropped a kiss on Ellie’s forehead before she said, “me too, baby, me too.”
Easter
INVOLVED: Summer Sanders, Ellie Rose, Wynter Sanders, Erica Rose, and Josiah Richmond TIME FRAME: Sunday, April 12th, 2020 LOCATION: Rose Home; Los Angeles, California SUMMARY: Ellie prepares a Easter dinner for her, Summer, and Wynter. However, Erica and her boy friend shows up to the small party.
Summer moved around the apartment quietly, brushing her braids over her shoulders as she leaned against the counter now, eyeing all of the food that Ellie had cooked for the holiday. She licked her lips slowly, her hand moving nice and steady as she reached for the ham, trying to break off a piece without Ellie noticing. She was starving and it seemed like the woman had been cooking all day.
Ellie delicately placed the tiny eggs into the decorative baskets on the dining table, humming to herself a little as she did so. She looked at Summer out of the corner of her eye before she rounded the table and moved to drop some more tiny eggs into the baskets on the opposite side. “Summer” Ellie said, not looking up as she squatted down a little, she turned her head to the side and fixed a little bunny on the table before she stood up. “I still have chicken and pies in the oven, quit” she commanded. She shifted the dish housing her freshly baked cinnamon rolls against the table before she moved to walk back into her kitchen. “Steal a deviled egg if you want something to eat…”
Summer’s fingers were so close, she could almost taste the ham in her mouth, when Ellie spoke her name. “Dammit,” she mumbled as she turned and looked at Ellie. She eyed the woman as she moved around and she sighed out, “I don’t want no stinkin’ deviled egg,” she huffed out. “You’ve been cooking forever,” she whined slightly, extremely hungry. “Can’t you see I’m withering away here,” she said rather dramatically.
Ellie looked at Summer and she crossed her arms over her chest “Winter has been waiting as well and she isn’t acting like a child” she pointed out. “You sound really ungrateful right now” she said pursing her lips and squinting her eyes as she tilted her head. “It’ll be a few more minutes Jesus…”
Summer pouted at Ellie, “Wynter is passed out from hunger,” she said pointing to the couch. “You’re killing us,” she went on dramatically. As Ellie told her it would be just a few more minutes, Summer sighed out and she nodded. “Okay,” she finally said with a frown as she looked to the ham longingly.
At Summer’s words she raised her brow “fine” she said “eat” she told her gesturing the food she already had laid out minus the chicken she was browning in the oven. “Grab a plate and eat” Ellie said as she turned to the oven to check her pies now and she pulled the sweet potato one out with a mitten. It was finished baking now, and she didn’t want it to burn. She placed it on the pie rack she had to cool down before she checked the chicken and closed the oven door. Her apple pie would be out next, the crust needed to brown a little more as well.
As Ellie told her to eat, Summer let out a deep sigh and she looked at the food longingly before she said, “I’ll wait…” with a small pout still resting upon her lips. If she ate now, then she wouldn’t be able to eat with them and she wanted to eat with them. With a small hum, she picked up a deviled egg and stuffed it into her mouth hungrily.
Ellie looked back at Summer, giving her a knowing look, the girl was working her very last nerve right now and she had no clue of it. Shaking her head, Ellie grabbed the plates they would use and lined the table with them before she heard a knock at the door, she looked up at Summer and then at it. “You invited someone?” she asked her softly as she rested the last plate down and in place.
Summer ate the egg with a hum, licking her fingers a bit as she did. As someone knocked on the door, Summer looked at Ellie then at the door. She swallowed the food before she said, “no,” shaking her head as she moved to the kitchen, snatching up a napkin to wipe her hand and mouth.
Ellie nodded her head slowly at Summer and she took her apron off, placing it aside on the counter before she looked out the peephole. “It’s Erica” she breathed looking back at Summer before she unlocked the door to her older sister.
Erica waited for someone to answer the door, she knew Ellie was home. The girl had the same routines no matter the changes in her life. She cooked every major holiday on end. Licking her lips, she continued to wait faintly hearing talking on the other end as she held a bottle of wine in each hand and she looked back at Josiah for a moment. “See I told you this was a bad idea” she breathed to him before the door opened and she looked up at Ellie. “El” she breathed softly.
Josiah stood at the door with Erica, his hand rubbing her hip easily. “Shh,” he whispered to her before the door opened and he smiled at the woman. “Hello,” he said over Erica’s head as his chin rested there gently.
Summer looked at Ellie, eyes a bit wide with shock as she nodded. This was going to be interesting. “Okay,” she said as she tossed the napkin away and moved to the door behind Ellie, standing there with her, her chest pressed to Ellie’s back. She gazed at Erica and that man, the one from the bar that night, with a bit of an amused expression. Wow.
Ellie looked at Erica, and the man in her life currently. She had seen someone that day, interesting. She hadn’t met this guy, so she didn’t know who this guy, was. “Hey” she finally breathed after a moment feeling Summer behind her “this is a surprise” she said to her licking her lips, a bit confused.
Erica looked at Ellie as she spoke, and she nodded her head at her “yeah” she said in response. She continued to stand there with the wine bottles in her hand, clutching them tightly. Her eyes moved to Summer who she chose to glare at for the moment before she cleared her throat unsure what she should say right now. “Summer” she said easily however after a time.
Josiah gazed at the blonde as she walked up behind the other woman and he recognized her from the bar. He smiled curtly at her, standing there a bit awkwardly as he held Erica’s hip, rubbing her there lovingly. Well this was awkward.
Summer gazed at Erica and the man, her arm coiling around Ellie’s mid-section protectively. She looked at the bottle of wine in Erica’s hand, then at the man once more, her head cocking to the side slightly as Erica glared at her. She pursed her lips at the woman, saying, “Erica…” easily.
Erica looked back at Josiah and then she looked back at her sister. “This is Josiah, by the way… We are… seeing each other” she announced to her sister. “Josiah this is my baby sister Ellie” she breathed “and the woman behind her is an old college mate of mine” she told him over her shoulder. She looked back at Ellie and said “I came with wine, as a peace offering over everything that’s going on” she told her.
Ellie looked at Erica, her hand still resting on the doorknob as the girl spoke introducing them. “Hello Josiah” she said politely to the man. He was not the problem here and there was no need in being rude to him. As Erica went on to label Summer, Ellie sighed heavily and placed locs over her shoulder and out of her face. “Must we?” she asked her. As she explained she was there to make peace she looked at her “after kicking me out of your house the way you did, yeah” she said nodding her head. “Coming to apologize would be nice,” she told her.
Summer looked at the man after Erica introduced him and she nodded her head. “Hi,” she said alongside Ellie, her eyes glaring at Erica at the way she spoke about her to the man, Josiah. “Summer,” she said introducing herself properly, “Ellie’s girlfriend,” she smirked slightly. As she looked at Josiah. Her arm tightened around Ellie slightly as she shifted her weight some. Summer had heard all about how Erica had kicked her out and truly, that had been the last straw for her. If Erica didn’t want to be friends anymore or even speak to Ellie anymore because of the relationship, Summer simply did not care. However, she knew how Ellie felt, so she would at the least try.
Josiah nodded slightly, lifting his head from atop Erica’s as he said, “Ellie, Summer nice to meet you,” keeping it short and sweet. He was just trying to be polite, truthfully this was not his drama and he really didn’t like drama and petty women. Seeing this side of Erica was a bit of a turn-off for him.
“Well that is what I am here to do” Erica said as she offered over both bottles of wine, one to Ellie and the other to Summer. “I am here to bury the hatchet” she acknowledged. “Josiah made some valid points not long ago and you both are grown. I should just let you two do your thing” she said looking from Ellie to Summer.
Ellie looked at Summer over her shoulder, she squinted lightly before she looked back towards her sister and Josiah. Hm. Him prompting this isn’t a shocker to her, her sister was a tough cookie. That’s where she learned it from. “Well” Ellie said nodding her head a bit as she accepted the bottle of wine “come in then” she told her moving out of her way, knowing Summer better had moved to.
Summer glanced down at Ellie as she looked back at her before she looked back at the couple, still standing in the hallway. She eyed the bottle of wine as Erica handed it out to her and she took it, holding it as she still stood pressed against Ellie. As Ellie accepted the words and stepped aside to let them in, Summer very reluctantly stepped aside as well. She brushed her hands through her braids slowly, eyeing Erica a bit.
Looking at the women, Josiah stood there with a small twitch on his lips. As Erica handed over the bottles, he gave her a small squeeze of approval. He whispered into her ear, “good girl,” softly. Watching as Ellie and Summer moved aside, he smiled at them gently as he ushered Erica forward.
Erica moved into the home looking at Summer again as they moved inside. “Hm” she said, eyeing Summer’s sister “little Wynter” she said shocked. “Haven’t seen that kid in ages” she said seriously as she looked at the spread. “Damn” she breathed “you cooked all of this for greedy?” she asked using her thumb to point towards Summer.
Ellie watched as her sister came in and she sat the wine on the counter as she took in Wynter. She smiled at the young girl nodding her head at the comment. At the next one she smirked at her sister and said “don’t come in taunting my boo” with a grin on her face as she patted Summer’s shoulder. She remembered her pie and she moved to grab it out of the over. She grabbed her mitten and pulled it out, sitting it on the rack as she realized she too can take the chicken out. She took the large pan after grabbing a second mitten. “We can eat,” she said to everyone sitting the pan on the stove. “It’s all done,” she announced. “Wash your hands before you come into my kitchen though; Josiah included…” she said, smiling at the man as she rested the mitten aside.
Summer watched Erica walk into the home and she nodded, looking over at Wynter lying passed out on the couch. “Yeah… she’s almost fifteen now,” she told Erica easily before she rolled her eyes. “I am not greedy,” she giggled softly, knowing that wasn’t the truth in the slightest. She closed the door behind the couple and moved further into the home smirking as Ellie said they could eat, finally. “About damn time,” she said as her stomach growled loudly. She walked over to Wynter and shook the girl’s shoulder. “Food’s ready,” she said.
Josiah stepped into the apartment behind Erica, looking at all of the women as they spoke about the girl laying on the couch before they began joking a bit. Good sign, very good sign. He rubbed his hand over his arm a bit before he shrugged off his jacket slowly. “Uh, is there a place I can hang this?” he asked, directing the question to Summer and Ellie both.
Wynter laid sprawled out on her stomach on the couch. She had passed out from starvation about two hours ago. Sleep was the only cure. So, when Summer shook her shoulder, she groaned, lifting her head slightly. “Food?” she grumbled softly as she sat up a bit, rubbing her eyes, still a bit unaware that there were other people in the apartment.
Erica gave Summer a knowing look and she said “right” to her before she grabbed Josiah’s coat instinctively. “You ate us out of a dorm” she said as she hung the coat up in the coat closet nearby and she licked her lips as her sister’s words. “The bathroom is this way” she told Josiah, grabbing him by his hips and moving him in that direction.
Ellie pointed towards the bathroom fanning them in that direction easily, before she washed her hands in the kitchen sink. She uncovered all the food on the island and easily began to carve the chicken up a bit for people to get so pieces of it easier. When enough of it was cut up, she placed the large knife aside and rested the pair of tongs aside for them to use. She grabbed another plate down to make a fifth spot for Josiah on the table, making sure she decorated that area as she did the others. “You guys can serve yourselves” she told them.
Summer gazed down at Wynter as the girl sat up and she looked back at Erica, “girl, it wasn’t just me,” she said smirking. “You gotta point the finger at Jasmine too.” Looking at Ellie, Summer licked her lips slowly as she left Wynter’s side and moved into the kitchen to wash her hands. She scrubbed them clean easily before she dried them quickly. She moved around and snatched up a plate from the table before she was making her plate with a large grin, slapping a little of everything on it.
Wynter rubbed her eyes a bit more before she squinted, looking at Summer, then over at their guests. She blinked the last bit of sleep from her eyes as she stood up, watching the man and woman with a hum as she followed Summer to the sink, washing her hands behind her as she whispered to Summer, “who are they?”
Josiah looked down at Erica as she took the coat from him before he followed her to the bathroom easily. He washed his hands as they entered before he stepped aside, letting Erica do the same. “Off to a good start,” he said smiling softly at her.
Erica looked at Josiah “yeah” she said as she scrubbed her hands clean with some soap and she then rinsed them. She grabbed a towel and dried them off and set it aside “the night is still young” she told him as she pecked his lips. “Come on” she said as she walked out the bathroom.
Ellie watched Summer and Wynter wash their hands in the kitchen and she shook her head. She was going to kill them as she walked away from the table moving into the kitchen watching them all fix plates; she would let the guest go first and then she’d make her plate last. She always did.
Summer made her plate, looking up at Wynter slowly as she whispered back, “Ellie’s sister and her boyfriend.” She shifted on her feet before she moved to sit down at the table, trying to wait for everyone else before she just dug in.
Wynter nodded slowly, her eyes wide and shocked as she dried her hands before she moved to the table picking up a plate. She looked at Ellie before she moved to place various food items on it, mainly chicken and ham, mac and cheese, cabbage, and garlic mashed potatoes. With her plate made, she moved to sit down, looking at Summer a bit confused. “What’s going on?” she asked, leaning towards her slowly.
Josiah chuckled softly at Erica and he said, “it’ll be fine,” as he hugged her close briefly before he followed her out the bathroom. He moved into the kitchen slowly, looking around at all the food with a hum. “It all looks great Ellie,” he said.
Erica looked at him with a smirk before she moved into the kitchen and looked at her sister. “It does, doesn’t it” she said to him “I’ll fix your plate” she told him easily as she moved to grab two from the table and she looked at Wynter “hi” she said to her easily before she moved back into the kitchen. She sat one aside and began to make his plate quietly “a little of everything okay?” she asked him sweetly.
Ellie looked at Josiah and she smirked “thanks” she told him easily. “It was nothing, I hope you enjoy it” she offered as her sister fixed the man’s plate. Hm. She tucked her lip in before she looked over at Summer and Wynter. She turned her back to them and grabbed 4 wine glasses, walking over to the table she sat them down and moved back into the kitchen and grabbed a corkscrew. She grabbed one of the bottles of wine and moved over to the table opening it before she poured wine into the glasses filling them a little.
Summer looked up as the couple moved back into the space and she watched them closely before she looked at Wynter curtly. “Shh,” she said to her. Summer picked up her fork, sneaking a bite of her mac and cheese with a small hum before she sat the fork back down. “Could y’all move any slower?” she joked, seriously, looking back at them.
Wynter raised an eyebrow at Summer before she nodded slowly, looking down at her plate before she looked up at Ellie as she grabbed glasses and wine. “I’ll take a glass too,” she said with a wide grin, knowing that was out of the question. “Do we have any grape juice?” she asked next.
Josiah smiled at Erica and he pressed a kiss to her cheek. “Thank you, baby,” he said before he moved to sit down at the table, really unsure about where to sit. He rubbed his beard a bit before he looked at Wynter, the resemblance between Summer and Wynter was uncanny. “I can tell you two are sisters from a mile away,” he said casually.
Ellie looked at Wynter giving her a knowing look before she moved to sit the glass of wine aside, she moved to grab the girl a shorter wine glass and she sat it before her. Ellie grabbed some cranberry juice out of the fridge, and she poured some into Wynter’s glass, pecking her forehead, the girl was so annoying like Summer. She moved to place juice back in the fridge before she watched her sister, standing next to her. “He likes you,” she said quietly.
Erica continued to fix the man’s plate and when she was done preparing it, she sat it before him with a smile. She moved back into the kitchen to fix her own plate and when Ellie stood beside her, she looked over at Josiah for a quick moment before she looked back at Ellie. “That’s what you think…” she asked a question laced in her statement as she continued to scooped food on her plate.
Summer looked at Josiah as he sat down before she looked at Wynter. “I don’t look like this clown,” she said pointing her thumb at her sister with a smirk. She looked at Erica as she sat the plate before the man. “So… I see things are going well since you guys met at Lock and Key,” she chuckled a bit.
Wynter rolled her eyes at Summer, pushing her shoulder a bit before she said, “she ugly, don’t compare us,” playfully. She licked her lips slowly as she looked over, watching Ellie pour her juice, she smiled softly.
Josiah looked between the sisters and he chuckled before he looked up at Erica as she sat the plate before him. “Thank you, baby,” he said before he looked back at Summer and he chuckled. “Yeah, going pretty strong,” he smiled.
Ellie looked at Erica and she nodded her head “it’s kind of noticeable” she replied as she told her as she moved to grab her own plate. She walked back into the kitchen and began to prepare her own plate. Putting a small amount of things on the plate she had before she moved back to the table to sit down.
Erica finished making her plate and she looked to Ellie before she looked at Josiah. “Hm” she said as she moved to walk back towards the table, she sat down next to Josiah and smiled at everyone at the table. “We should pray,” she said to them quickly. She placed her hands together and did so quickly over the food. “Amen” she said before she picked her fork up and began to eat the food quietly.
Summer stuck her tongue out at Wynter before she looked across at Josiah with her nose scrunched a bit. “This one,” she shook her head, referring to Wynter. As Erica and Ellie sat down at the table, Summer placed her hand on Ellie’s thigh under it, giving her a small squeeze before Erica mentioned prayer. She nodded slightly, bowing her head respectfully as Erica played before she said, “amen.” Lifting her head, Summer picked up her fork and dug in.
Wynter smirked at Summer, shaking her head once more before she watched Ellie and Erica sit down. She looked over at Summer, arching an eyebrow at her as she bowed her head, shocked that Summer actually did it. “Amen…” she said softly before she lifted her head and she eyed Ellie and Erica. “Y’all look like,” she said easily, pointing between the two with her fork before she ate some of her mashed potatoes.
Chucking at the sisters, Josiah looked over at Erica as she sat beside him and he bumped her with his shoulder lightly. Looking around the table, he nodded, bowing his head. “Amen,” he said easily before he looked up, picking up his fork and eating a piece of his chicken. “So, you two went to college together?” he asked, looking between Summer and Erica.
Ellie looked at Summer as she squeezed her thigh and she bowed her head as her sister prayed over their meal quickly. She said “amen” before she picked up her fork “that is kind of how genetics work little duck” she told her smoothly as she stuck a little potato salad into her mouth. She looked over at Erica at Josiah’s question and she stuck a little more into her mouth.
Erica smirked at Wynter “and you look like Summer” she rebuttal with a grin. “As a matter of fact, you came out looking like her” she clarified as she licked her lip taking a sip of her wine before she sat the glass down. She looked at Josiah and stuck some mac and cheese into her mouth “yes” she answered him truthfully, sighing heavily she said “Summer is like my best friend of whatever” she told him rolling her eyes playfully.
Summer looked across the table at Ellie as she used Wynter’s nickname and her eyes grew wide. She had no idea Ellie had actually heard them calling each other that before. She sat her fork down and took a sip of her wine a bit embarrassed before she looked at Josiah nodding, looking at Erica with a small squint before she said, “or whatever,” playfully. “I’ve know this heffa since freshman year,” she mused looking at Josiah as she picked her fork back up, eating more of her food, “she’s kind of like my ride or die friend, along with another friend of ours,” she told the man with a roll of her eyes, “you know when she acting like she like me… or whatever…” she smirked.
Wynter snorted at Ellie’s words before she looked down at her plate, a blush rising on her cheeks. “Ellie bear,” she whined back at her before looking at Erica and she raised an eyebrow at her. “How would you know?” she asked her, shocked and confused. At the banter between Summer and Erica, Wynter giggled softly.
Josiah looked around the table and he nodded slowly at the women as they spoke and he chuckled, holding his napkin up to his mouth as he did. “Interesting,” he smirked as he swallowed his food before he looked to Ellie, “and you own the boutique, right?” he asked her to be sure. He’d heard quite a bit about these women over the weeks he had been with Erica, but this was his first time actually meeting them face to face, so he was just trying to get it all straight.
Ellie looked at Wynter slyly, a smirk on her face as she stuck some more food into her mouth chewing lightly. She looked between Summer and her sister; a small head shake turned into fits of giggles. “Yes, I do, only because someone else wouldn’t take it off my hands” she said looking at her sister.
Erica looked at Summer hiding her amusement behind a fork full of food and she nodded her head. “Yeah we go way back” she admitted as she covered her mouth chewing. “Pictures” she said to Wynter. She looked at Josiah, optimism in her eyes before she looked at Ellie. “I just had other career paths in mind. I didn’t want to be obligated to carry on a family business…” she said, clarifying for everyone.
Summer looked over at Wynter, smiling a bit. “You don’t remember Erica?” she asked. “You would have been around five or six when you first met her,” she told Wynter easily before she looked at Ellie, then Erica. She ate some of her ham before she stuffed some chicken into her mouth.
Wynter looked at Erica squinting at her slightly before she looked at Summer shaking her head. “No, I don’t remember,” she said truthfully as she looked back over at Erica as she ate some of her mac and cheese. “Mm, Ellie you put your foot in these,” she said with a smile.
Josiah nodded slowly, letting the women banter back and forth, answering his questions in between, and he ate his food casually. He chuckled a bit at the sisters before he said, “well, I’ve heard that you’ve done a great job with it regardless.” He took a sip of his wine before he said, “I admire that being a businessman myself,” he told her easily.
Erica looked at Wynter and said “Summer and I were always together; I don’t know how not” with a chuckle. At Josiah’s words she nodded her head in agreeance.
Ellie looked at Wynter and smirked “thanks boo” she said to her lightly as she toyed with her own food at the moment. “Well thank you, I try,” she said, looking at her sister for a moment. Her sister has been speaking good things about her. At the man’s words she looked at him amused “and what type of business is it that you own?” she asked him.
Summer smirked at Erica slightly, “like always, glued at the hip,” she shook her head a bit. “Truthfully, we had an unhealthy level of closeness,” she snickered some as she picked her glass back up, taking another sip of the wine, drinking it slowly, not needing to get drunk for Easter. Looking at Wynter, Summer said, “do you remember that Bratz doll that you got when you were like 9?” she asked Wynter. “That was from Erica,” she said pointing across the table at her friend.
Wynter nodded slowly at the two before she looked at Summer, rewinding her memory back a bit. “Yeah, I still have that thing somewhere in my closet at the house,” she said referring to their parents’ house before she looked at Erica and she smiled, “that was one of my favorite dolls,” she admitted.
Josiah smiled at Ellie and he nodded as he ate more of his food. At the question, he swallowed and wiped his mouth and beard a bit. “I own two restaurants, called The Richmond,” he admitted, “I am a chef,” he informed the woman easily with a smirk before he said, “and you’re a very good cook, by the way”
Ellie looked over at Summer at her response before she looked over at Josiah again. Ellie rested her hand on Summer’s thigh, and she rubbed her hand up and down it gripping lightly as she did. “Oh really?” she asked him, shocked. “That’s amazing” she told him “at one point of time I wanted to be a baker” she admitted to him. “Thank you” she said “now that means a lot coming from a man who owns his own restaurants” she told him.
Erica chuckled at Wynter “you are still welcome” she winked at her gently before she looked at her sister and then Josiah. “He cooks a mean steak and gravy” she said as she looked over at Josiah biting her bottom lip. “You two are pretty neck and neck… I won’t lie” she said smirking towards them both. “We know I don’t get in the kitchen; I’ll leave that for you two” she told them. “And Summer burns water…. so, she’s eliminated automatically.”
Summer nodded at Wynter with a small smile before she looked at Ellie as she rubbed and gripped her thigh. Summer slowly lowered a hand under the table to grip Ellie’s hand and she patted it gently before she returned her focus to the conversation at hand. “What? C’mon, I can cook,” she said to Erica. “Y’all just never let me,” she pointed out. “I accidentally start one small little grease fire and then I’m banned from the kitchen for life,” she rolled her eyes.
Wynter smiled at Erica. “Thank you,” she said softly before she looked over at Summer shaking her head, “uh-uh, Summer.” She took a sip of her cranberry juice before she said, “you… I can’t remember what it was, but it was like one of those just pop it in the oven dinner things,” she said looking around the table, “and you managed to burn it to a crisp,” she said shaking her head. “We ended up having to order pizza that night, I remember, I was 9…” she told the table.
Eating more of his food, Josiah nodded at Ellie. “Yeah, just a little something, something,” he told her modestly. “Really? It’s not too late,” he said with a hum. “I started my restaurant on a small business loan and now I’m on the verge of opening up a third very soon,” he admitted. “Just gotta really want it,” he said. “Determination and passion…” he told the girl before he snorted at the story Wynter was telling. “That… bad…” he shook his head chuckling.
“Oh, please Summer” Erica said with a snort and she shook her head. “You burn water” she told her seriously, as Wynter spoke she snorted again a giggle leaving her full lips. “That bad baby,” Erica said looking at Josiah with a headshake. “Also, I agree with Josiah. You should do, what do you have to lose?” she asked her sister. “If you don’t want the boutique either, sell it” she shrugged “sell it and keep all the profit hell, I don’t care” she told her.
Ellie looked at Erica and she smirked “you could be in the kitchen; you chose not to be” she told her truthfully. At the man’s words she shrugged them off a bit “you know, we all have our paths in life” she breathed in a heavy sigh her plate just sitting there. She looked at Summer rubbing the inside of her thigh before she said, “how did you two meet again?” curiously, though they never said honestly.
Summer rolled her eyes at everyone at the table. “Y’all just some haters,” she said now as she stuffed more of her food into her mouth, picking up her piece of cornbread and taking a bite of it. Ellie starting her own bakery wasn’t a bad idea, but they did just buy a three million dollar house, jumping into trying to invest in a while new business venture would not be a smart move at the moment. However, despite knowing this Summer said, “you do bake all of the time baby, it’s something to think about earnestly,” before she looked down at Ellie’s hand against her inner thigh. She lifted her head slowly, glancing at Ellie with a raised eyebrow before she once again, reached down and patted Ellie’s hand. A bit protective, huh?
Wynter laughed out, shaking her head as she grabbed her glass, sipping more of her juice. Looking across the table at Josiah, she listened to the man before she looked at Ellie nodding slowly at her words as she ate more of her chicken.
Listening to Ellie and Erica, Josiah ate his food with a hum. “Well, if you ever change your mind about it, give me a call,” he said easily. “I might be able to help you out a bit,” he told her before he smirked at the question and he looked over at Erica, unsure if she wanted him to tell the truth of not.
Ellie’s long acrylic nails glided across the woman’s thigh before she rested her arm on the back of her chair. She smirked “I think we just invested a lot of money into the house, don’t you?” she asked Summer in return. “However, thank you” she said pecking Summer’s cheek, leaving her red lips there. She nodded her head at Josiah’s words, there was no way she’d ever open a bakery. “Well?” she said looking at them both.
Erica looked at her sister, she wasn’t going to call the man before she wasn’t going to consider the idea truly. She always thought to less of herself. She sipped from her wine glass smirking at Josiah “at a club” she shrugged “well a bar… Lock and Key” she said to her easily. “Summer kind of… spotted him beforehand I didn’t believe he was checking me out” she smirked looking at the man. “You know it was one of those… sparks kind of thing” she said knowing Wynter was sitting there.
Summer looked back down, watching Ellie’s hand closely before she moved it and she responded, “well, yeah,” she lifted her head to look at Ellie, “but if it’s something that you really want to do, just thinking it over and planning wouldn’t hurt,” she said easily before Ellie kissed her cheek and she blushed a bit before she looked over at Erica and Josiah with a smile. “Yeah, he was just staring at Erica,” she admitted. “So when he walked over and introduced himself, I dipped…” she chuckled looking over at Ellie with a wink, because that was the same night she passed out on that very couch in the living room before waking up the next morning and feasting from Ellie right on that counter where the food was sitting.
Wynter ate her food quietly now, her eyes bouncing between each person as they spoke before she looked at Erica saying, “so… you had sex…” she pointed out, wondering why she was beating around the bush. “I’m fourteen, not four,” she giggled.
Josiah looked at Summer and Ellie, then back at Erica with a smirk as she began to explain. “I was sitting in the back of the bar with my business partner when Summer and Erica came running into the bar,” he smirked, “Erica caught my eye immediately but I didn’t approach her right away, I just sat and I watched for a bit before I finally made my move,” he told them before he looked at Wynter a bit shocked and he choked on air a bit, patting his chest some.
Ellie looked nodded her head at Summer, she’d think about that later or some other time maybe. As Summer too explained her side, she nodded at her and caught her wink smirking. She looked back across the table and nodded her head before her eyes shot to Wynter. “Wynter,” she said lowly.
Erica nodded with Summer chuckling before she looked at Josiah listening to his side of the story. She smirked at him “I am glad he decided to walk over” she admitted aloud, unable to stop herself before she did. At Wynter’s words she looked at the young girl and tilted her head, oh yeah, the ‘baby’ had grown up for sure. The little comment reminded her Ellie back in the day.
Summer looked at Wynter and said, “that’s it,” as she stood up slowly. She picked up Wynter’s plate and gestured for her to get up as well. “You are now being moved to the kids table” she said as she walked over to the coffee table in the living room and placed Wynter’s plate down there. She picked up a non-decorative pillow off the couch and placed it on the floor for Wynter. “There ya go,” she said before she moved back to the table, sitting back down with a shake of her head.
Wynter looked at Ellie and Summer with wide eyes before Summer picked up her plate and moved it to the living room. She smacked her lips slightly as she grabbed her napkin and her cup. “That ain’t even right,” she hissed as she walked over, sitting her cup down on the table before she plopped down on the pillow with a huff.
Watching Summer get up and move Wynter away from the table, Josiah couldn’t help but to laugh before he said, “best decision I ever made,” as he leaned into Erica a bit, wrapping his arm around her waist and giving her a loving squeeze. “How about you two?” he asked Summer and Ellie, curiously, wanting to know since Summer had known Erica since college. Had Summer known Ellie since she was a child or what?
Ellie gave Wynter a knowing look as Summer packed her up and moved her towards the living room. Shaking her head, she turned back to the table and said “uh,” she breathed cutely “Summer came into the boutique and I gave her my number” she said smoothly. “I didn’t recall from the past, best decision I made however” she said cutely, looking at Summer with a smirk.
Erica looked at Josiah and her heart fluttered in her chest before she leaned over kissing his lips tenderly. She looked back at her sister and she nodded her head, she didn’t know the story either, so she was amused. At her sister’s words she smirked smugly at her mimicking Josiah’s words.
Getting comfortable in her seat once more, Summer smiled as she tuned back into the conversation. “Summer was dragged into the boutique,” she corrected with a smirk. “Surprisingly enough, the boutique is not far from my studio,” she explained, “and I was out with Jasmine, a friend of Erica and I’s, we all went to college together,” she said breaking down the connection before she continued, “and I saw Ellie and I was immediately taken by her. I was like trying to flirt but still play it cool on the low and she was really trying to act like she wasn’t checking for me,” she chuckled softly, “so I had to buy these damn shoes,” she smirked looking over at Ellie, “to get her attention and that is when she gave me her number,” she told Josiah and Erica. “Now at the time I had no clue that these two were sisters,” she said pointing between Ellie and Erica, “I didn’t remember from the past either, Ellie looks so different,” she said repeating what she had been saying the whole time.
Josiah listened to the women as they spoke, explaining the story and he chuckled softly, with a nod, smiling over at Erica as she kissed him. He kissed her back lovingly, gripping her cheeks a bit as he pressed another to her lips before he pulled away. He looked back to the couple across the table and licked his lips. “What kind of studio?” he asked Summer curiously. “Also, how did you not know? These two look like twins damn-near,” he smirked, now kind of understanding Erica’s plight about Summer dating her younger sister.
Ellie looked at Summer as she continued to explain how they met, giving precise details to them and dismissing her short story fully. She adjusted her arm on the back of the chair leaning into her a little more watching her lips move as she spoke. Summer was full of crap, they fucked and that was the end of that story nothing more nothing less. As she concluded she raised a brow up at the woman and looked to her sister shifting in her own seat.
Erica listened to Summer, taking in what she was saying glancing over at Josiah ever so often as the woman spoke. Once she was done talking, she looked at Josiah again, smirking at his comment “yep she’s my double…” she said “I see Summer every time I look at Wynter I don’t how she does it…” she said cutely, squinting a Summer a little.
Summer looked at Ellie as she leaned into her and she licked her lips slowly. “You have to realize, I was going in cold, I had no idea that was your family boutique and I hadn’t seen Ellie in years,” she said looking around the table. “I wasn’t even thinking about Erica when I first saw Ellie,” she told them. “Hell, I can walk into the mall right now and see at least two women that look like Erica and Ellie and they not be related to each other or these two,” she said, trying to defend her choices. She squinted back at Erica briefly before looking over at Ellie. “I own a dance studio,” Summer finally said to Josiah. “I’m a dancer…”
Josiah looked at Summer as she went on before he looked at Erica and Ellie. He looked back at Summer nodding slowly as she went on and he chuckled gently. “I guess,” he said easily, smirking slightly.
Ellie looked at Summer as she continued to explain herself to the whole table and she licked her lips. She rested her free hand on the woman’s thigh, and she gripped it gently before she patted her thigh. “I’ve matured in a few places over the years, I get it” she said jokingly. Ellie sighed softly to herself before she said “what started as me coning Summer out of 200-dollar shoes has resulted in a 3 million dollar home and small family” she said cutely.
Erica looked at Josiah and she tried not to smirk or laugh at his comment as she looked at her sister. She took a sip of her wine holding the glass in her hand as she furrowed her bro. 3 million dollars. “Dreams come true” she said shrugging lightly as she took another sip and looked at Summer. “Congrats!” she said to two women lifting her glass “I never got the chance to do that” she said taking another sip from her glass.
Summer squinted at Josiah a bit before she looked at Ellie. She placed her hand over Ellie’s on her thigh, lacing their fingers under the table. She smirked a bit, licking her lips at Ellie’s comment. As Ellie dropped the fact that the home, they bought was three-million dollars, she blushed slightly. Looking at Erica she said, “thank you,” quietly.
Josiah looked at Summer and Ellie, his neck jerking back a bit. Three-million dollars? That must have been some home. “Wow, that’s amazing,” he said looking over at Erica as she congratulated them. “Congrats,” he said as well.
Ellie smirked at her sister “thank you” she said softly to her “you will have to drop by and see it once we are all moved in” she said with a smirk. “And you know, we all aren’t getting any younger…. Gotta make it do what it does, if it feels right” she preached.
Erica looked at Ellie and she nodded her head “sound like a plan” she said to them both. At her words she chuckled “you are like 2 years old El” she said back to her slyly before she looked to Josiah with a headshake. She liked Josiah, a great deal and probably more than she let on but she didn’t see them rushing into a home and a family in what, 2 months?
Summer smiled at Josiah and she said “thank you” to him as well before she looked at Ellie with a smirk. “That’s right,” she said softly. “I mean… when you know… you just know, right?” she said sweetly before she leaned over and pressed a kiss to Ellie’s lips. She looked at Erica and said, “yeah but I… ain’t getting no younger,” with an arched eyebrow at her friend. “We’re not rushing… it’s just… everyone’s relationship progresses differently,” she said softly, looking around the table.
Josiah listened to the women as they spoke before him. He nodded slowly just taking it all in. He wasn’t sure exactly how long Summer, and Ellie had been dating but it didn’t seem long at all. He looked at Erica, hoping she didn’t wish for the same thing to happen between them so quickly, because he just wasn’t that type of guy. He wasn’t going to rush his relationship with Erica.
Erica looked over at Summer and she nodded a smirk on her lips “well you know I’ve never rushed anything my entire life I take my time. So, I agree” she told her easily as she looked at the woman. “Different strokes for different folks” she told her nodding her head. “You aren’t getting any younger” Erica said pointing to Summer “and Ellie has always been too mature for her age, maternal, and domesticated… it makes sense” she said as she finished off her glass of wine, resting it back down against the table.
Ellie looked at Summer, she kissed the woman back nodding her head at her. “I agree,” she said in response to Summer’s statement. At Erica’s words she looked at her sister, knowing her words to be true and she nodded her head. As she laid their situation out on the table Ellie smirked, that’s the one thing Erica had over most people she was too damn clever. She chuckled “well Erica… kids and marriage is knocking at your door too” she said before she looked at Josiah.
Looking at Erica, Summer nodded slowly before she said, “you’re older than me heffa,” with a squint. She squeezed Ellie’s hand in her own under the table as she moved to finally finish her food. As Ellie spoke to Erica, Summer said, “I don’t know…” softly. She didn’t really ever see Erica as the motherly type. She was always all work and no play.
Chuckling, Josiah said, “I don’t know… we’re still in the getting to know each other stages. Marriage and kids will be in the distant future,” he said looking over at Erica, hoping that they were on the same page.
Erica looked at Ellie and snorted lightly “I am only 29 years old” she told her sister. “I have a couple of years ahead to work on kids and marriage” she said, not looking over at Josiah. “And what do you mean by I don’t know?” she asked, pointing over to Summer. Erica got up and grabbed herself and Josiah a cupcake before she walked back over. Here try this” she said softly.
Ellie looked at Summer and then to Erica “I know, I know” she said playfully to her sister. She looked at Josiah and nodded her head at him “yeah these days you gotta mess around a little before you discover if she’s wifey type” she said as she moved to stand up herself. She grabbed the bottle of wine and brought it over to the table filling her and her sister up before she sat it down.
Summer looked at Erica, then at Josiah. She nodded slowly. “Right…” she said before she looked directly at Erica. “I never knew that you wanted kids E, you never really talked about it and you’re so work driven…” she told her friend straight up. “Marriage is one thing but kids?” she questioned, “just never knew that you something you considered.”
Josiah grew quiet as he looked around the table, letting the women talk once more. He just took it all in with a bit of a nod, his eyes showing a bit of shock. “No, uh,” Josiah cleared his throat looking at Ellie. “We’re truly just learning each other, finding out what we like and what we don’t like about each other, seeing what we have in common and if we’re truly compatible for the future to come,” he explained.
Erica looked at Summer licking the icing of her cupcake and she didn’t say anything in response to her for a very long time. “I mean what woman doesn’t?” she asked her curious as she looked at Summer licking her icing once more. “But I get it, you don’t read me as the childbearing type either” she said slyly to the woman. “But yes, J and I are still in our dating phase of things…” she said testing the words on her lips a bit.
Ellie looked between Summer and Erica; she knew in the back of her mind Erica wanted all those things. But she knew Erica put work before everything else in her life because she had goals and she wanted to accomplish them. She understood it and respected it. “I love kids” she said finally to everyone “I can’t wait to have a kid of my own personally” she said softly as she sipped from her glass.
Summer looked at Erica and she shifted slightly. “Some women just don’t…” she said knowingly, she knew plenty of women that simply didn’t want kids. At Erica’s next comment, Summer’s neck jerked back slightly, and she looked at the woman across the table, a bit of hurt flashing across her face before she picked up her glass and gulped down the remainder of the wine. “Excuse me,” she said as she sat the glass back down and stuff up, moving away from the table quickly. She walked into the bathroom and closed the door behind her, pressing her back against the door.
Josiah looked across the table at Summer and Ellie, watching the blonde as she guzzled down her drink before she excused herself rushing off quickly. He looked at Erica, then at Ellie, a bit confused by Summer’s sudden excusal before he nodded at Ellie. “I definitely want a kid or two but like Erica said, we’re surely just in the dating phase. Though, I do see a future between us,” he told Erica, looking at her as he took her hand and gave it a squeeze, “we’re just taking things slow.”
Erica watched Summer leave with a raised brow before she bit into her cupcake, savoring the taste of it. “I love this” she told her sister easily before she looked at Josiah and she smiled brightly at him. He took her hand and squeezed it, and she sat the cupcake down against the table leaning in to kiss his lips again. “So sweet” she said against his lips “I won’t mind pushing out two of your chocolate babies” she told him with a wide grin.
Ellie looked at the two and smirked at them, her sister really liked this guy and this guy really liked her. Wow. She never thought she’d see the day her sister actually found someone she could see herself settling down and having kids with. She looked towards the bathroom and then back at them.
Summer stood in the bathroom, her heart racing in her chest as she began to breath hard. Erica didn’t know. She couldn’t know and if she did why would she be so cruel and say something like that to her. She licked her lips slowly, shaking her hands out a bit as her fingertips started to go numb. She needed to calm down. Letting out a harsh breath, she moved to the sink and she splashed a bit of cool water on her face before patting it dry. “Okay…” she said softly to herself as she pulled it together, her skin a bit flush red. She blinked slowly at her reflection before she tossed the paper towel in the trash and moved back out into the dining space with everyone. She sat back down at the table and looked across at Erica.
Josiah smiled softly at Erica and he chuckled. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, I’m light skinned,” he joked softly. As Summer sat back down at the table, he looked across at the woman and asked, “are you alright?”
Erica snorted at Josiah and said “hush” playfully to him as Summer returned. She broke a piece of the cupcake off and popped it into her mouth chewing lightly. “You good?” she asked her.
Ellie snorted at Josiah, so far, she didn’t mind the guy so that was a good thing. As Summer returned and everyone spoke, she looked at her tilting her head expectantly.
“I’m fine,” Summer said softly as she dropped her gaze from Erica to look down at her basically empty plate. She licked her lips before she picked it up and moved into the kitchen, scraping what she didn’t finish into the trash before she looked back at Ellie saying, “I’m going to take this out when we’re all done,” easily, knowingly.
Josiah nodded slowly at Summer’s response before he looked at Erica a bit confused. He then turned his eyes to Ellie, saying, “and now let me try a cupcake,” as he looked down at the one Erica placed before him. “You wanted to open a bakery so I’m going to critique this very harshly,” he said playfully as he picked it up and peeled paper back before he took a bite. He’s eyes grew wide and he looked at Ellie, nodding approvingly as he chewed. “That’s good,” he said, covering his mouth with his hand.
Ellie watched Summer closely and she said nothing as Josiah spoke, she smirked. “It’s alright, I’ll take it down tonight” Ellie waved off looking back at Summer and then to Erica. As the man critiqued the cupcake, she chuckled at him “thank you” she said softly. “There’s pies and cinnamon rolls too” she told them. “Babe are you gonna try a sweet potato cupcake?” she asked looking back at Summer.
Erica looked at Summer and then at Josiah, when he tried the cupcake she smirked. “Best in LA” she told him easily as she finished her own cupcake, sitting the paper down on her plate.
Summer nodded at Ellie before she placed her plate in the sink to be cleaned later. She pressed her hands against the counter there, closing her eyes for a moment before she looked back at Ellie, shaking her head. “Uh, no… I’m so full,” she said to Ellie, “maybe later…” she told the woman before she moved back to the table slowly, sitting down. She sat back, clearing her throat a bit. Her mind was running a mile a minute.
Josiah chuckled softly as he took another bite of the cupcake. He looked over at Erica, nodding with a small smirk as he wiped a bit of icing from his mustache. “For sure, the best cupcake I’ve ever tasted,” he said looking over at Ellie.
Ellie looked at Summer again and she furrowed her brows at her before she turned back to the other couple. “Thanks” she added again before she looked at Summer as she sat down. “You guys are more than welcome to take some with you guys” she told them quietly.
Erica looked at Summer again before she looked at the time on her watch, “well look at the time” she said with a smile. “I promised aunt Toya that I would stop by and let her read Josiah” she said with an eye roll. “You know she thinks she’s a damn gypsy” she chuckled as she got up from the table. “I would have visited mom and dad but… you know” she said to her easily.
Summer avoided Ellie’s eyes as she sat there, and she looked across the table at Erica and Josiah with a small nod.
Josiah looked at Erica, then looked at Ellie asking, “should I be worried,” with a chuckle as he got up from the table as well. He placed his hand on the small of Erica’s back, rubbing her there gently. “This was lovely Ellie and Summer, thank you,” he said with a smile.
Ellie looked at her sister and she smirked with a chuckle and a headshake. “No” she said easily “Toya is cool” she said to him easily, of course she would. She is her favorite. “She just likes to get a feel for the people in our lives” she said to him. “Thanks for visiting us” she said as she stood up as well. “Did you guys want to take anything?” she asked them both curiously.
Erica smirked at Josiah and looked at Ellie as she explained the situation to him. “Yeah, Toya is wild” she added as she finished off her wine again, in a few guzzles. “No, no” she said to Ellie “I may drop by and steal some tomorrow or something” she told her. “Thanks for having us” she told her sister as she grabbed her plate and Josiah’s plate, moving them into the kitchen. “Everything was perfect,” she added.
Summer looked across the table at Erica and Josiah as they stood up to leave and Summer stood up alongside Ellie. She was in and out of the conversation, because her mind was running all over the plate. However, she did catch the tidbit about Toya, and she looked at Ellie, “so… I guess I’ll be meeting her soon?” she asked questioningly before she looked back at Erica and she nodded. “You’re welcome…” she said softly.
Josiah looked at Ellie and he nodded a bit with a small smile before he looked at Erica. “I just got two different answers about this aunt,” he chuckled. “Cool or wild, which is it?” he joked as Erica moved their plates to the kitchen. His eyes traveled over to Summer’s younger sister asleep on the couch and he chuckled. “When she wakes, tell her I said it was a pleasure to meet her and the same goes for you two as well,” he smiled.
Ellie looked at her sister squinting lightly before she told Josiah “we should let you decide” easily as she moved towards the kitchen, looking back at Summer. “Yeah babe, I’ve been meaning to do that” she told her, she had been and just didn’t take out the time. “I will make sure I pack you some food up and some desserts” she told her sister.
Erica looked at Ellie and then to Josiah at his words, the woman grabbed her bag and moved to grab his coat for him. She pulled it out of the closet and held it out to him gently “thank you, thank you” she grinned, Ellie spoiled her. “I will come by after work tomorrow” she grinned before she looked at Summer. “Same here” she said after Josiah.
Summer shifted on her feet as she looked at Erica and Josiah. Looking over at Ellie, she nodded slowly, pressing her hands into the table a bit as she stood there. She needed to talk to Erica, but now was not the time.
Josiah moved with Erica as she made her way to the door and he took his jacket, slipping it back on easily. He looked at Erica, pulling her close and pressing a kiss to her jawline. “I can’t wait to do this again,” he said as he opened the door, stepping out of the apartment.
Ellie looked at Summer, eyeing her oddly before she looked at her sister and Josiah “agreed” she said to her with a wide grin, a smirk on her lips. Everything worked out she guessed.
Erica allowed Josiah to kiss her and she smirked, she watched him walk out of the apartment and she looked back to Ellie and Summer. “Well” she said softly to them. “I really am sorry” she told both them, she moved to Ellie wrapping her up in a hug. “And I love you” she told the younger girl as she pecked her forehead. “And you too” she smirked at Summer, rolling her eyes. She moved away from Ellie to her, giving the taller woman a hug as well.
Summer took a breath before she moved around the table, walking towards the door. She leaned against the wall, looking over at Erica and Josiah as Erica said her final goodbyes and apologized once more. “It’s okay,” she said softly as she leaned up to hug Erica, whispering to her, “I’ll call you later,” before she pulled away. She looked at Ellie, walking over to her and wrapping her up.
Josiah stood there, watching the women hug and say their goodbyes. “See y’all later,” he waved with a hum. He smiled softly, actually having enjoyed the time. As Erica moved back for him, he pulled her close. “I’m proud of you,” he whispered as he moved to walk away with her.
Erica nodded at Summer saying “okay” to her quickly before she moved out the door. She looked up at Josiah and smiled “thanks” she breathed quietly. “Thank you so much,” she told him as she walked alongside him. “And thank you for coming with me,” she told him lovingly. “It meant the world to me” she said softly looking up at him.
Ellie watched her sister and Summer, with a smirk as the woman and her boyfriend left. She looked at Summer again and she furrowed her brows “what was that?” she asked her. “What is wrong?” she whispered looking at Summer.
Summer watched Ellie close the door behind her and she looked at her, tilting her head to the side a bit at her first question before she waved her off. “I’m fine,” she said softly. “Let’s clean up,” she suggested as she moved for the kitchen.
Ellie looked at Summer and she tilted her head back at her. She locked the door behind them and moved further into the space. “Tell me” she said to her softly “why did you run out like that?” she breathed.
Summer moved into the kitchen, grabbing containers from the cabinets to place the leftover food in. She looked back at Ellie and sighed, “I had to use the bathroom,” she said softly.
Ellie looked at her and she tilted her head at her again “Summer” she said angrily. “We aren’t keeping secrets in this relationship,” she told her. “And I got about 3 million dollars’ worth of reason,” she said seriously. “What did she say to you that has bothered you?” she asked.
Summer kept her back to Ellie as she rinsed out the containers. She listened to Ellie and she shook her head slightly. “Ellie…” she turned to look at her slightly. “I don’t want to talk about it…” she said.
As she refused to speak to her Ellie shook her head “fine” she said grabbed the box the decorations were packaged in and she moved to the table, tossing the fragile porcelain in. She was so pissed off she could kick Summer out of her apartment, but she didn’t for the sake of Wynter. However, you did hear how pissed how she was with every broken piece and ever, slam of glass against another.
Summer flinched slightly as Ellie began snatching up the decorations and throwing them into the boxes. She turned to her fully, shock etched across her face. “Stop,” she said as she moved for Ellie, wrapping her up. “What is wrong with you?” she said looking at her baffled.
Ellie looked at Summer “don’t touch, let me go” she told her upset with Summer. She tosses the box down against the ground and moved to walk away from her and she moved into her bedroom, closing her door.
Summer let Ellie go as she asked her to, looking down at the box on the floor as Ellie stormed away. Summer stood there for a bit, just staring down at all of the broken pieces before she grabbed a trash bag and began to collect them, salvaging what she could. How was Ellie mad at her for simply not walking to talk about something. It was her own something to talk about.
Growing Together
INVOLVED: Summer Sanders, Ellie Rose, and Wynter Sanders TIME FRAME: Sunday, April 5, 2020 LOCATION: Summer’s Loft; Los Angeles, California SUMMARY: Beginning to pack up their things to move, Summer and Ellie have a conversation about Erica, which in turn makes Ellie very emotional.
Summer walked into the loft with a stack of boxes under her arm and extra duct tape. Humming, she moved to place the boxes on the table before she looked to Ellie, “any luck finding a couch?” she asked as she began to set up the boxes.
Ellie shook her head at Summer. “No, I am still looking but no worries I’ll find something,” she told her easily. She looked up at Summer moving to her for a kiss on her lips. “I can’t believe we are doing this,” she chuckled to her lightly.
Summer frowned slightly at Ellie’s words but she nodded, “I know you will baby,” she said easily as she moved to set up the next box. As Ellie moved for her, Summer kissed Ellie’s lips back lovingly. “Me either,” she smiled, kissing Ellie’s lips once more, “but we are,” she said with so much glee. “And once we finish packing up all the essentials here, we move to your place and do the same, then we… we unbox everything in our home.”
Ellie wrapped her arms around Summer and she smirked at her. “Mhm,” she said to her sweetly. “I can’t wait,” she told her honestly, “it’s like a dream home, you know,” she confessed to her sweetly before she laid her head on Summer’s chest. “I am so in love with that kitchen,” she added.
Summer smiled at Ellie and she stopped fooling around with the boxes to wrap her arms around Ellie. She let out a hum as she swung her braids out of the way some. “I can’t wait either baby,” she said looking into Ellie’s eyes. “It’s pretty damn awesome,” she chuckled as she held Ellie close. “I honestly saw myself living in this loft for a few more years,” she admitted as she looked around a bit, rubbing Ellie’s back as Ellie’s head rested against her chest, “but I’m glad to be branching out with you,” she said sweetly. At Ellie’s mention of the kitchen, Summer smiled and she said, “I’ll try not to burn it down,” with a chuckle.
Ellie nodded her head at Summer, she could understand that considering she knew she hadn’t planned on leaving the apartment she was in anytime soon. When she did, she knew it would be a house that she moved to, but a 3 million dollar one, not as much. “So am I, I never pictured getting an apartment with someone I was dating, let alone a house,” she told her. “Things are different with you Summer,” she told her. “Now I’m picturing kids running around the back yard,” she said softly as she pulled away from her moving back to the iPad she had for a second. Butterflies still filled her stomach and her chest still burned when she spoke of her future with Summer in any form. “I love you,” she breathed as she moved for her purse without a second glance trying to find the pen to her iPad.
Holding Ellie close, Summer let out a hum of content before she began chuckling a bit. “I’ve lived with a partner before but yeah… buying a home,” she said smirking, “that’s a big step,” she admitted with a smirk. “Things are definitely different with you,” Summer said, co-signing Ellie before she grew quiet, listening to Ellie speak about children. Her heart fluttered and she smiled. “How many kids?” she asked sweetly as Ellie pulled away. “I love you too,” she said softly, looking at Ellie with soft eyes as she pulled the hair tie from her wrist and pulled her braids back into a ponytail.
At Summer’s words Ellie melted into a puddle of goo, she found her pen and looked at her. “3 or 4,” Ellie confessed to her sweetly, “as many as you want,” she said pushing braids out of her face and over her shoulder as she looked back down at the iPad, avoiding Summer’s gaze.
Summer set up the next box before she moved into the kitchen with a small one and sat it on the counter. At Ellie’s answer, Summer stopped short, looking over at the girl with a smirk. “As many as I want, huh?” she asked softly as she began to pull plates down from the counter, wrapping them up in bubble wrap before placing them into the box. “Well we already have one,” she said jokingly, referencing her sister.
Ellie chuckled at Summer’s words and she nodded her head before she said, “that is true,” jokingly. She gave up on the couch for now and decided to help her with the kitchen, Ellie began to take China down to assist Summer.
Summer looked at Ellie, smiling a bit, “just a pain in my ass,” she laughed softly. As Ellie began to help her, Summer leaned down and kissed Ellie’s forehead. “Thanks baby girl,” she said in a soft tone before she said, “so, uh…” she paused for a moment before she just asked, “have you talked to Erica?”
Ellie chuckled at Summer. “Our pain in the butt, I love her,” she smirked to herself. At Summer’s question she shook her head at her. “Yes,” she said softly as she continued to assist her with dishes. “She kicked me out of her house…” she breathed defeatedly and she licked her lips and turned her back to Summer as she grabbed another dish down.
Summer smiled a bit, “ugh, I love her too,” she said gently, looking at Ellie. Grabbing a few more plates, she wrapped them up in the bubble wrap. “Wow,” she said softly, pausing to look at Ellie. “I’m sorry,” she said gently, she honestly could not stand that this relationship was breaking the bond between two sisters, but she was going to be selfish and choose herself because Erica truly had no right to be upset with them. “I feel like with time… things will get better.”
“Mhm,” Ellie said, pushing it aside before she told Summer. “We really don’t have to talk about it babe,” she said easily to her. She grabbed some cups and placed them near Summer. “I am a good sister and I never ask Erica for anything,” Ellie carried on despite, “now she acts like she can’t give me her blessing when I need it the most,” she told her. “The bitch slept with my fuck buddy,” she barked angrily. “I forgive her for shit all the time,” she snapped. “We don’t have to talk about it,” she told her angrily again as she sat more cups beside Summer.
Summer looked at Ellie as she said she didn’t want to talk about it and she nodded slowly, “okay babe, we don’t hav–” she trailed off as Ellie handed her a few cups, still talking about it. Growing quiet, Summer listened to Ellie as she vented and she nodded along, just wrapping items one by one as she did, carefully placing them into the box. As Ellie snapped, Summer turned to Ellie, placing her hands on the woman’s full hips. “Breathe baby girl,” she said softly.
“It’s not fair,” Ellie said looking up to Summer emotionally. “Doesn’t she know I need her now more than ever. I am scared. I have never done this before and what if you start to hate waking up to me in the morning?” she said her voice croaking, “or I can’t satisfy your every need. I can’t tell you that. I am supposed to go to her,” she said as a tear fell.
Summer held Ellie by her hips, holding her steady as she spoke and as Ellie grew emotional, Summer was taken back a bit. She shifted her weight, clearing her throat a bit as she hoisted Ellie up into the counter. Stepping between Ellie’s thighs, Summer said, “babe, I’m not going to just wake up and not want to be with you anymore,” she said softly. “I love you and you don’t have to satisfy my every need,” she told Ellie in a soft tone. “We give and take, we satisfy each other,” she said gently before she added, “I’m sure she’ll come around,” gently. “She’s your sister and she loves you,” she whispered, rubbing Ellie’s thigh gently.
Ellie looked at Summer, biting her lip as she wiped her tears, allowing Summer to pick her up and place her on the counter. At Summer’s words, she nodded her head at her. Knowing what Summer was saying was probably very true. She closed her eyes softly sighing out and she said, “okay,” to her quietly.
Sighing out, Summer stroked Ellie’s cheek and she said, “I’ll try and talk to Erica again.” She did not want to because at this point if Erica didn’t want to be her friend, she wasn’t going to fight her on it. They were too grown for the games. However, for Ellie’s sake, she would make another attempt at reasoning with the woman.
“Don’t bother,” Ellie told her honestly after the conversation they had it was no point for either one of them to try. “Just leave it alone,” she shrugged softly.
Summer frowned at Ellie and she wrapped her up in her arms, hugging her close. “Baby girl,” she whispered softly. She rubbed Ellie’s sides before she pulled away, kissing Ellie’s lips. She knew Erica would come around eventually, but she hoped that it happened sooner than later.
Ellie hugged Summer back gently. She was bummed about everything with her sister but she never let people dictate her life for her. Never. “It’s fine,” she told her quietly.
Summer pulled away slowly and she said, “I love you,” before kissing Ellie’s forehead and helping her down off the counter. “All of this is just a transition,” she said, “a new stage in life…”
Ellie nodded her head at Summer as she pulled her down off the counter and she said, “I love you too,” not having much else to say. She looked at the box and then at Summer before she tucked her bottom lip into her mouth.
Summer sighed as she looked at all the boxes around them before she said, “you know what we can do this later,” as she pulled Ellie close, walking them out of the kitchen. “Let’s just relax a bit, watch a movie,” she said gently as she sat down on the couch, pulling Ellie down into her lap. Grabbing the remote, she handed it to Ellie, “whatever you want to watch,” she said sweetly.
Ellie looked up at Summer again as she pulled her with her, she nodded at her words. “Okay,” she told her as they moved for the couch and she sat back against Summer as she pulled her into her lap. Ellie grabbed the remote and nodded her head as she searched for something and when she came across Child’s Play, she stopped sitting the remote aside as she moved Summer’s hands to her stomach, lacing their fingers there.
Summer watched the screen as Ellie picked a movie and Summer was glad that she kept the lights on. Sitting back, she allowed Ellie to move her hand to her stomach and lace their fingers. She let out a hum, biting her lip a bit as she situated herself to be able to hid behind Ellie’s shoulder. She was not a fan of scary movies.
Ellie watched the screen as the fictional doll murdered various people, she licked her lips and held Summer to her. Her eyelids felt heavy now, she was getting tired easily, the older movies were long and in her honest opinion boring. Ellie’s eyes closed for a moment but she opened the back up not wanting to fall asleep.
Summer sat there, eyes closed as she hid behind Ellie’s shoulder, not really wanting to watch the scary flick. Every so often she would open her eyes and look at the screen only to close them back and try not to jump so that she didn’t startle Ellie.
Wynter walked through the front door with a hum, dropping her bag down at the door as she did. She kicked off her sneakers and let out a deep sigh. She had spent most of the day at her friends house and now she was tired.
Ellie’s heavy eyes continued to watch the TV she felt Summer shifting behind her but she didn’t look back or say anything. Instead her eyes stayed focused on the TV until they closed for the final time.
Summer felt Ellie’s body relaxing against hers, but she absolutely knew the woman couldn’t be sleep, not with this scary mess playing. As Wynter walked through the door, Summer jumped slightly and she said, “holy shit,” with a shocked expression, gripping Ellie’s hand a bit. “You scared me,” Summer said to Wynter as her chest rose and fell rapidly.
Wynter looked at Summer and she smirked, “I scared you?” she questioned as she stepped forward a bit more to see the TV, “ah,” she said with a nod before she looked at Summer. “Scary-cat,” she teased.
Ellie felt Summer jump and she shifted, opening her eyes at the woman’s words to Wynter she looked at the young girl and then the TV. She looked at Summer and said, “hm?” easily to them both.
Summer looked at Ellie as she woke and she said, “nothing baby,” as she grabbed the remote turning the TV off. “Let’s lay down sleepyhead,” she said to Ellie with a smirk as she tried to play off being scared, scowling at Wynter.
Wynter laughed softly, shaking her head at Summer. “Mhmm,” she said as she moved over and began to set up her bed for the evening.
Ellie rubbed her sleepy eyes and she nodded her head at her, the woman. “Okay,” she told her as she moved to stand up on her feet. She tiredly drug herself up the steps and towards Summer’s bed where she fell face first on top of it.
Summer squinted at Wynter before she turned and patted Ellie’s butt as she moved up the steps. Summer watched Ellie fall into the bed and she chuckled. “Well that’s one way to do it,” she said as she quickly rolled Ellie over, pulling her pants off of her, letting them fall to the floor before she reached under Ellie’s shirt, pulling her bra off of her expertly. “Okay, under the covers,” she said as she slapped Ellie’s ass.
Ellie hummed against the mattress as Summer undressed her, she poked her bottom lip out. She was so tired all of sudden as she unhooked her bra and smacked her butt telling her to get beneath the sheets Ellie crawled to her side and got under the covers moaning out in appreciation. She was going to sleep like a baby tonight, and without Summer’s head, magic.
Summer watched Ellie crawl under the sheets and she smiled as he undressed herself and pulled over a large t-shirt. She turned off the lights for their level and crawled into bed with Ellie, wrapping her up tightly. “I love you,” she whispered into Ellie’s ear before kissing her shoulder, trying not to be afraid of every noise Wynter made downstairs.
Ellie pulled the covers up to her neck getting comfy before Summer moved over to her, wrapping her up. “I love you too,” she mumbled with closed eyes.
No Games
INVOLVED: Summer Sanders, Ellie Rose, Wynter Sanders (briefly; Audrey Preston) TIME FRAME: Monday, March 16, 2020 LOCATION: Various Locations; Summer’s Loft; Los Angeles, California SUMMARY: While out apartment hunting, Summer talks to Ellie about possibly living together at some point. They also run into Summer’s ex-girlfriend Audrey while at the store and realize with the day’s events that they’ve forgotten to pick up Wynter from school.
Summer brushed her straightened hair back over her shoulder, letting it swing behind her as she and Ellie moved into yet another apartment for viewing. This was their fifth one and Summer was tired. She hated looking for new places. It was so tedious and they never had the right combination of what she wanted. However, she tried to stay optimistic. “Maybe fifth time’s the charm,” she said to Ellie as she stood in the living room of the apartment, gazing around at the spacious area.
Ellie rested her hands on her hips as she looked around, she looked to Summer and she nodded, “maybe,” she repeated as she took the kitchen in. It wasn’t half bad she guessed. There was far more space here then they’d seen this entire day, so it was a plus. “Spacious,” she said to her as she shifted on her tired feet.
Looking at Ellie, Summer nodded with a shrug. “And hardwood floors,” she mused as she eyed the stairs. “May we look upstairs?” she asked the man showing them the apartment and he nodded, saying “of course, take a look around,” as he fidgeted with his keys a bit. Summer nodded, looking at Ellie once more as she nodded towards the stairs. So far it was okay, but honestly, she just wasn’t really feeling it. She hoped maybe looking at the bedrooms would change her mind.
Ellie nodded looking down at their feet. “It does,” she said to her in response as she licked her lips slowly. At Summer’s question, she looked to the man and she nodded at him as she moved towards the stairs behind Summer. She took them with the woman as they moved for the second floor and she asked her. “You aren’t feeling it are you?” she could sense it in her body language a little.
Summer turned to Ellie as they got upstairs and she scrunched her face saying, “absolutely not,” to Ellie honestly. “I don’t know,” she admitted, “it looks nice but I just… I don’t see it for me and Wynter,” she said truthfully. “What do you think?”
Ellie nodded as she followed and she looked around. “I like the kitchen,” she said trying to give her something, though she did not like much at all. “Maybe a house?” she suggested to her. “It would be more bang for your buck,” she told her.
Summer sighed. “The kitchen is nice but a bit small,” she said gently. As Ellie suggested a house, Summer’s eyes grew a bit. “A house?” she said back to Ellie, her shoulders dropping a bit. “I wouldn’t want to rent out a house,” she said with a bit of her lip, “and home ownership,” she whistled softly. “But you’re right,” she said as she looked around the hallway of the second floor of the apartment. “I might be able to find more of what I’m looking for out of a house…” she said softly.
As the woman spoke, Ellie listened; she rocked on her heels nodding her head at her. She was right the kitchen had a modern look but it was small as hell. Ellie looked around again and she looked back at Summer, “there is still tons of places we can look at,” she said, her bones tired at the thought of it.
Summer looked at Ellie and she sighed out, rubbing her fingers through her hair. “Let’s call it today,” she said with a shake of her head. “It’s been such a long day,” she bit her lip. “I know you’re tired,” she said, placing her hand on Ellie’s arm, “I’m hungry,” she said pointing to herself. “Let’s just go back to my place and get some food, we can look online some more,” she said thoughtfully. She absolutely loathed looking for a new place but it had to be done.
Ellie pulled her hands from her pockets and she adjusted the purse strap on her shoulder. After doing so she nodded her head at Summer. “If you want,” she said trying not to make it seem she was tired, though she was. At her suggestion she said, “okay,” to her, “but let me cook instead,” she told her softly. “We can stop by the store on the way and I can make us dinner,” she told her.
Nodding, Summer said, “I want to,” as she rubbed her stomach. “We’ve tried, we can try again next week after we narrow down some more places,” she said softly. At the mention of Ellie cooking, Summer’s face lit up and she said, “okay, I’d like that,” as she leaned down, kissing Ellie’s lips softly. She took Ellie’s hand into her own, giving it a squeeze before she moved back down the steps slowly. “Uh, we’re going to have to pass,” she said to the man truthfully. “It’s great but just not what we’re looking for,” she told him.
Ellie nodded. “Yeah, of course,” she told her knowing it was the truth. As Summer grabbed her hand, she moved with her down the steps and she stood beside her as she spoke with the man. She offered him a small smile as she nodded her head agreeingly.
The man looked at the couple and he nodded with a sigh. He was having a hard time renting out the place, but he didn’t fault anyone. “No problem,” he told them as he moved out the door. Summer smiled weakly at the man as she exited with Ellie and she moved down the hallway swiftly, pushing the button for the elevator as she reached it and she looked at Ellie asking, “what did you have in mind?” in reference to cooking.
As they left and moved to the elevator, Ellie looked to her and said, “not sure,” easily. “I kind of just get around ingredients and come up with stuff as I go” she told her. Ellie squeezed her hand and asked her, “did you have a taste for something specific?” curiously.
The doors opened and Summer stepped onto the elevator with a hum. “Uh, maybe some pasta,” she said thoughtfully, “or something simple like burgers and fries,” she shrugged. “I’m just hungry,” she said with a laugh as she pulled Ellie close, pushing the lobby button.
As she suggested very specific things, she nodded her head at her. “Burgers and fries are quick,” she told her easily as she entered the elevator. Ellie leaned against Summer, resting her hand on her lower back. “I will feed my baby, no worries,” she told her patting Summer’s stomach.
Summer smirked, looking down at Ellie as she patted her flat stomach and she gripped Ellie by her ass. “You know I get cranky when I get hungry,” she joked playfully, pressing a kiss to Ellie’s nose. The elevator moved down, down, and when the doors opened, Summer stepped out of the elevator still holding Ellie close as they moved through the lobby towards the car outside. “So, I actually spoke to my mom and she’s okay with me taking Wynter…” she said honestly.
Ellie snorted at that shaking her head and she closed her eyes for a moment basking in the feel of her pecking her nose. She opened them once they walked out of the elevator and she rubbed her back as they moved. “Just like that? No protest?” she asked her shocked.
Summer shook her head. “No protest,” she said softly, “but I mean, look at the situation, Wynter is always running out of the house and to me, trying to get away from them, rather they speak on it or not, they see it happening,” she said biting her lip. Moving outside, Summer pulled her keys from her pocket and unlocked the car. Releasing Ellie, she opened the door for her. “And Wynter has already made her decision,” she said with a shrug. “So, I guess it’s really official.”
As she explained she nodded her head, she assumed her mother at least would have told her no. Women prided their children and their ability to take care of them, no matter what she did or what she experienced, Ellie’s mother was always there. Had anyone challenged her on that, she’d kill them. “Okay,” she said nodding her head. Wynter was theirs to raise now she had to step up and be a much better example and confidant. “However, I can help baby let me know. Pick her up from school, lunch money, school clothes, lunch, supplies, whatever. I mean it,” she told her as they got in the car to leave.
Summer smiled softly at Ellie as she offered up her help and Summer leaned in, kissing Ellie’s lips lovingly. “Thank you,” she said sweetly. “I really appreciate it,” she said lovingly before she kissed Ellie’s lips one more time. She pulled back, closing the door and moving around to the driver’s side. Climbing in, Summer started up the car, turning down the radio a bit as she pulled out of the lot headed to the store.
Ellie kissed Summer back gently and she nodded her head. “Of course,” she said easily to her before she pecked her lips again. She fastened her seatbelt and sat her purse aside as Summer got in and moved to leave the location.
Summer buckled herself as she exited the parking lot and she moved down the street towards the store with ease. Looking over at Ellie she said, “and you know Wynter really likes you,” she said with a smirk. “You’re her best friend,” she told Ellie chuckling a bit.
“Does she?” Ellie asked Summer as they drove down the road and she smirked at the thought actually. “How cute,” she said to herself as she looked out the window.
“She does,” Summer said with a smirk. “She really clung to you,” she said with a bit of a shrug. “I guess it’s because you’re a bit closer in age,” she said with another shrug as she pulled into the lot for the store. She found a space and parked the car, getting out and moving around to open Ellie’s door for her.
Ellie looked to Summer and she nodded her head. “Nothing wrong with that, she should have someone she can lean on outside of you. You know how people her age are,” she chuckled at her. “Somethings they don’t want to tell people they see as a parental figure,” she acknowledged as they made it to the store and she released herself from the seat, moving to climb out as Summer opened her door.
Summer chuckled. “God, yes, because you know she talks too damn much,” Summer said with a smirk. “Let her talk your ear off, not mine,” she joked. Though she was glad that even if Wynter didn’t want to tell her certain things that she would probably feel comfortable going to Ellie. Helping Ellie out the car, Summer closed the door and hit the button, locking it. She took Ellie’s hand, moving into the store, stopping at the entrance to grab a basket, pushing it along with one hand, as she held Ellie’s in the other. “Lead the way,” she said smirking.
Ellie snorted with a headshake. “Where does she get that from?” she asked her curiously. “She talks to talk baby,” she informed her amused as she held her hand slinging her bag on her shoulder as she walked with her. As they entered the store, she looked around as she walked alongside the cart, hand in Summer’s. “I think I am going to make turkey burgers,” she told her briefly, “sweet potato and waffle fries” she breathed. “But I want to make my own fries from scratch,” she said. “But you are hungry, we can do frozen fries,” she thought to herself as she moved to the meat section. She picked up a pack of ground turkey, making sure she got the best selection possible as she pulled away and sat it down in the cart.
“My mom,” Summer said honestly. Nodding along to Ellie’s words, Summer smirked. “Yeah, mom does the same,” she said with a shake of her head. As they moved through the store, Summer nodded and she walked alongside Ellie as she mused to herself. “I can wait if you want to make home-made,” Summer said, licking her lips. “Homemade tastes better,” she said knowingly. As they moved for the meat section, Summer watched Ellie as she picked out the ground turkey.
Audrey came around the corner slowly, her cart filled with various items as she made her way to the meat section. Seeing Summer and some woman, Audrey stopped short and she bit her lip hard as she gazed at Summer.
Ellie turned back to the meat for a second making sure she actually got what she wanted and she looked back at the woman figuring they were in her way. “Come on baby,” she said to Summer as she grabbed the other end of the cart moving for the produce. “I think I will make some homemade fries,” she said thoughtfully looking back at Summer with a smirk.
Summer smiled at Ellie before she felt eyes on her and she looked up slowly, gazing at Audrey. She swallowed spit and looked back to Ellie, nodding. “Sounds good,” she said as she moved to walk with Ellie.
Audrey eyed Summer and the woman she was with, a frown on her face. “Summer,” she called out as they began to walk away. Was Summer really not even going to acknowledge her?
Ellie moved towards the produce now to select some Idaho potatoes and sweet potatoes to cook for them. When she heard the woman call Summer’s name she looked up and back at her again before she looked at Summer. Maybe the girl knew Summer but Summer didn’t recognize her. Either way she moved back to picking the potatoes idly to herself oblivious of who the woman was.
Summer bit her lip softly as Audrey called her name and Summer turned to her, brushing some of her hair back as she said, “uh, hey Audrey…” She looked to Ellie out the corner of her eye before she looked to Audrey once more.
Audrey watched as Summer reacted to her and she recoiled slightly, looking to the woman that she was with quickly. Was this the woman Summer had cut her off for? Slowly, Audrey looked her over. She was pretty. Shifting on her feet she asked, “were you just going to act like you didn’t see me because you’re here with your new girl?”
Ellie tried to mind her own business however when Summer spoke calling Audrey’s name, she looked up again. Staring at nothing before she turned around placing 4 potatoes in a plastic bag and then into the cart. She licked her lips as she looked at Summer and then the woman as she questioned Summer’s actions. Her hand rested on the cart and she looked Audrey up and down slowly without much of an expression.
Summer let out a sigh. “Well… yeah,” she said honestly. “I didn’t see the need to make a big deal out of it,” she said before she looked to Ellie, then back to Audrey. “As you’re doing right now,” she pointed out. “Ellie this is Audrey, Audrey this is Ellie,” she said pointing between the two as she said introductions. “Babe,” she said, turning to Ellie. “I don’t have any cooking oil,” she told her thoughtfully.
Audrey pursed her lips, looking at Summer with a squint. “Wow,” she mused, looking Ellie up and down once more as she pushed her cart forward a bit more. “Ellie…” she said, licking her lips slowly. Her head tilted to the side slowly. “Mmm…” she hummed out as he reached over and grabbed a pack of ground beef.
Ellie looked to Summer as she and the woman spoke, she tilted her head at the woman’s words as the two bantered back and forth. Hm. Someone seemed a tad bit bitter in all of this. As Summer introduced them Ellie looked at her as if she were dumb but only for a half of a second. She only looked back at Audrey when she said her name and moved to grab some protein herself. Ellie looked back at Summer, blinked slowly and said, “we will definitely need that,” back to Summer.
Summer watched Audrey and she bit her lip softly. Clearly Audrey was jealous and unhappy. Hearing Audrey say Ellie’s name and look her up and down Summer squinted at Audrey. “Right…” she said as she turned her back to Audrey. She placed her hand on the small of Ellie’s back, ushering her on. “Let’s get some,” she said trying to get Ellie away from Audrey.
Audrey watched as Summer tried to rush off and she huffed softly as she said. “She’s cute…” to Summer in reference to Ellie, still squinting at the couple as Summer tried to move on.
Ellie looked to Summer and then Audrey again, woo child, she licked her lips slowly before she moved as Summer all but moved her. “You’re cute too girl,” Ellie said to her with a smile, her eyes said bitch I’ll slap you but the smile was genuine. She hadn’t moved when Summer nudged her; she was too busy staring at the side of the girl’s face.
Summer bit her lip. Ellie was not budging. “C’mon babe,” she said trying to usher Ellie on once more. “She’s just upset,” she said knowingly.
Audrey squinted even more at Ellie before she said, “of course I’m upset. We were together for 3 years Summer,” she said with a huff, “and even after we broke up, we still saw each other regularly,” she said shaking her head. “Then you cut me off for her,” she said pointing to Ellie with an eye roll. “She’s a child,” she said scoffing.
“I am not a child,” Ellie corrected. “I am a grown woman,” she said with a bit of a chuckle. She looked to Summer offering her a confused expression as she moved the cart towards wherever the oil would be housed in the store, after she had placed lettuce, tomatoes, and onions in the cart. Ellie usually had a very short temper but considering this was a little amusing to her, she chose to ignore it and the woman. Moving on and forward, she had a dinner to make.
Summer winced as Audrey called Ellie a child and she squinted at Audrey. “Hey, that’s unnecessary,” she said shaking her head at Audrey. “We talked about it, you know it was coming,” she said. “It’s over, it’s done. Move on,” she said to Audrey. As Ellie spoke back with Audrey, she sighed softly. “Baby let’s just go,” she said sweetly, looking back at Audrey with another shake of her head. She pulled Ellie into her arms wrapping her up now as she pushed the cart forward, Ellie between her body and the cart.
Audrey huffed out. “A child,” she said again, looking Ellie over once more. “Really robbing the cradle Summer,” she said even as they walked away. She was irritated. She really liked Summer and here she was showing off in front of her with another woman. Rolling her eyes, she turned with her cart, storming away.
Ellie looked back at the woman’s words if it were not for Summer, she would have ripped her a new one. But luckily for Audrey sake today, Summer was dragging her in the opposite direction, and she couldn’t budge from her position lodged between the cart and Summer’s body. “What was that?” she asked, one eye squinted as she looked up at Summer. “What’s her beef?”
Summer sighed as she moved with Ellie into another aisle. “That is Audrey,” she began to explain. “The woman that I was with before you,” she said truthfully. “We were together for 3 years,” Summer said, re-explaining this. “After we broke up, we continued to mess around,” she said softly as she continued to move with Elle. “I broke things off with her to be with you and she’s not happy about it,” she told Ellie. “That’s all,” she said. “I guess she thought maybe we would eventually get back together, but it was just sex,” she said shaking her head.
Ellie continued to walk and she pulled away from Summer only as she picked up a small bottle of oil to use for the fries tonight and she sat it in the cart listening to Summer explain. Of course, she drew together that it was the Audrey. But she didn’t understand why the woman had such bitter words to offer about a relationship that was supposedly over before she entered the picture. “Mhm,” she finally offered as she carried her to the spice aisle and she said, “I see,” easily as she tossed various spices into the cart she that knew Summer didn’t have, to season her burgers.
Summer bit her lip hard as Ellie grabbed the oil and she decided to admit it. “In the three years that we were together, Audrey and I discussed marriage,” she said with a sigh. “We ended up breaking up because Audrey doesn’t want kids, ever,” she said with a shake of her head, “and I do…” She told Ellie with a hum. “So,” she shrugged, “she’s just upset in general…” she said as she gazed at Ellie, trying to gauge her reaction.
Ellie dropped some Pink Himalayan salt and black pepper she would ground up into the cart and she looked to Summer. “Uh, huh,” she said to her, she stood on the other end of the cart looking to Summer before she said, “what if I don’t want kids either?” It was a test. Ellie loved kids and if Summer had any sense, she’d used that to her advantage. But right now, she wanted to test what she would say back to her.
Summer watched Ellie as she stood there gazing at her and at the question, Summer opened and closed her mouth a few times as her mind ran a mile a minute. “You love kids, right?” Summer finally said as she released a breath. She grew quiet again as she thought to herself. She looked away from Ellie, looking at all the seasoning before she turned her eyes to Ellie once more, gazing into Ellie’s eyes. “With you… it’s different,” she said honestly. “I love you Ellie,” she said sweetly. “If you didn’t want kids… it wouldn’t be a deal breaker,” she said honestly. “I would be sad but… I’d still want to be with you, and it would just be a compromise I’d have to deal with…” she said biting her lip. God, she really hoped Ellie wanted children.
Ellie stood there waiting for a response, that she deemed good enough to solidify. As Summer treaded through an array of emotions before her, she continued to wait, bluffing. She ignored her question and by the end of it all she smiled brightly at her. She tucked her smile behind a smirk and she grabbed some garlic seasoning. “Of course, I love kids to death,” she reminded. “I just wanted to hear how much you love me, leave your lips,” she said sensually. “She’ll get over it, I am not going anywherem” she said to Summer seductively as she breezed past her with a sway, moving over to the condiments.
As Ellie broke into a smirk, Summer let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding. She let out a chuckle as Ellie spoke seductively. “I love you so much,” she said lovingly. “Oh, I know,” she said sweetly. “I’m not letting you go,” she pulled Ellie close as she tried to breeze past her. She hugged Ellie to her, kissing her lips sweetly.
Ellie chuckled as Summer brought her close, wrapping her up and she kissed her lips back. “I love you too” she breathed, “and I am not worried,” she added in case the woman thought she was at all. “Come on, we need cheese, turkey bacon, eggs, pickles, A1 sauce,” she listed off the top of her head as she moved.
Summer smiled and she nodded her head. “I know you’re not,” she said with a smirk. “You compared to her,” Summer shook her head, “off the charts.” With a chuckle, she nodded as she moved along with Ellie. “Oh, you about to throw down in my kitchen, huh?” she asked.
At Summer’s word she hid her blush, she was shocked by that. Could the older woman really mean that? Ellie licked her lips slowly and she nodded her head, “I am going to do a little something, something,” she chuckled lightly as she began to walk down the condiment aisle. She picked up each item she needed from the aisle that she had called out, placing them each in the cart gently before she moved for the bread aisle and then they’d wrap things up with grabbing the bacon and the eggs.
“More than a little something, something,” Summer said sweetly. “You know I love your cooking,” she said, licking her lips, tasting it already. Moving with Ellie to the other aisles, she watched as Ellie grabbed various items and she smirked. She had no idea how she was going to hoodwink Ellie into moving in with her once she found a bigger place, but she knew that she had to. She followed Ellie diligently, pushing the cart along.
Moving for the hamburger buns she picked up the ones she felt were the softest in the brand she loved. “I have to get an idea of what Wynter likes to eat too,” she said aloud, though it was really a reminder to herself. Ellie looked to Summer and said, “I am going to have to start grocery shopping for you two,” jokingly. She moved towards the dairy items and picked up some sliced cheese from a brand she preferred before she picked up a half a carton of eggs, she really just needed one or two to fuse the meat and make patties out of it. “Okay,” she breathed, “all done, unless you want me to make dessert too,” she smiled with a wink.
“Wynter likes pizza, chicken wings, and pasta as well,” Summer told Ellie easily. “She likes lobster and crab too,” she said thoughtfully. Snorting softly, Summer said, “might as well move in,” she joked seriously as she gazed at Ellie. She held her breath as she moved with Ellie, her ears ringing, she didn’t even hear the response about dessert.
“You two need a better diet,” Ellie chuckled to her easily as she shook her head. “Lobster and crab?” Ellie said shocked “Wynter doesn’t have lobster and crab money,” she said with a chuckle. At the woman’s joke she laughed it off, knowing there was no truth to her statement, Summer didn’t want her to move in. That would be a big step, right? Ellie pulled the cart moving Summer along with her. “I’ll make cupcakes, that’s easy. Plus, you already have all the stuff I need for that. I could do a simple icing for that, something whipped,” she said talking to herself as she thought, moving to a register.
Summer bit her lip softly as she said, “yeah, she uses my money.” As Ellie didn’t really respond, but laughed it off, Summer chuckled as well, letting out a breath as her stomach dropped a bit. Too soon, Summer, too soon. “I love cupcakes,” Summer admitted. “Cupcakes are my favorite food,” she told Ellie as they moved for the register.
Ellie snorted at her comment, “Babe,” she said looking at her crazily. A grown woman, in love with cupcakes, amusing. “I need to watch you,” she said pointing to her, “and your sugar,” she said tossing out another joke as they entered a line, the place was busy but hopefully the workers moved quickly.
Summer chuckled with a roll of her eyes. “I’m telling you she swindled expensive ass shake shack and fifty dollars out of me,” she shook her head adding, “all in the same day.” As they reached the line, Summer giggled. “I eat them moderately,” she said with a smirk. She was a lie. She ate at least four cupcakes a week, but she hid it. Entering the line with Ellie, Summer sighed out.
Audrey moved for the line after she had spent the rest of the time fuming silently to herself as she gathered her items. She stood behind another patron, eyeing Summer and this Ellie with a grunt. She was so jealous she couldn’t stand it. She had actually been in love with Summer and when Summer broke things off with her, her heart was broken. However, she accepted the here and there action, just to continue to be around her. She really thought she and Summer were on the verge of getting back together but clearly, she was wrong and she was so salty about it. She stared at Ellie, taking her in with a huff. What did the girl have that she didn’t?
Ellie chuckled at Summer and shook her head. “Honestly, you have got to stop letting that girl con you. Give her a few bucks for the week, if you will and if she spends it all that’s her business until the next week, or month,” she said to her. “Sure, you do,” she teased with a giant smirk as they moved up in the line.
Summer smirked and she said, “I know but you haven’t seen those puppy dog eyes and that pout yet.” Summer moved up in the line with Ellie, slipping her hand into the back pocket of Ellie’s jeans as she stood beside her. Feeling eyes on them, Summer looked back and gazed at Audrey with a squint before she turned back to Ellie. She kissed Ellie’s lips lovingly, pulling her closer to her body.
“Oh goodness, she better hope that works on me is all,” Ellie said with a grin. She looked before them; the person didn’t have too much stuff. Feeling Summer’s hand behind her as she pulled her close and kissed her lips, she kissed her back and affectionately pecked the side of her cheek as well before more space became available on the conveyor. She began to place stuff up on the counter, pulling away from Summer now. “I got this,” she told her.
Audrey watched as Summer made eye contact before pulling Ellie close and kissing her and she bit her lip hard, her face turning a little red as tears filled her eyes. She pushed forward in the line, turning her back to the couple now as she began to place her items on the belt. She just wanted to hurry up and check out, then leave.
Summer smiled softly at Ellie, her hazel eyes flickering over to Audrey to see her back turned to them now and she nodded slowly as she allowed Ellie to pull away from her and start placing their items on the belt. “You sure?” she asked as she moved around Ellie, pulling her money clip from her pocket.
“Yes, I am sure,” Ellie told the woman easily as she continued to place things onto the counter. She licked her lips once she placed everything onto the counter and she looked at Summer with a smirk. “Put that back away,” she said with a chuckle as she pulled her wallet out and her card, moving to pay for the items once the person was done ringing them out.
Summer chuckled as she nodded. “Baby,” she said softly as Ellie told her to put her money away. Smirking, she slid it back into her pocket as she stood behind Ellie, pressing her chest to Ellie’s back as she held her for a moment. She let out a content sigh before she moved to begin to place their bags in the cart.
“Thank you,” Ellie sang out happily as she licked her lips and stuck her card into the machine to pay for the groceries. She put her pin number in swiftly as Summer began to bag things up for them and place them in the cart. Once she was done, she removed the card and placed it and her wallet away.
As Ellie paid for the groceries, Summer continued to place the bags in the cart. As Ellie finished paying, Summer quickly finished carting the bags before she turned to Ellie. “Now to cook and eat,” she said triumphantly.
Ellie nodded her head and she took the receipt from the worker winking as she did and she turned to Summer, licking her lips she moved for the exit. “Yes, the shopping is the easy part babe,” she joked, knowingly. It still amused her that Wynter had told her of Summer’s inability to cook.
Summer leaned against the kitchen counter watching Ellie as she prepared the food for them and she smiled brightly. “So…” she began quietly. “You can bring some stuff over to have when you stay over spontaneously,” she said with a small hum.
Ellie had chopped her potatoes and had gone with her routine to make them crispy and golden. All she had to do was drop them into the grease when she was ready. All her patties were formed and ready to be cooked when the time came as well. Before she did either she wanted to get her bacon and additional add-ons to the burger ready so that all anyone had to do was just eat once she was done. She looked Summer with a smirk. “Baby you sound like you asking me to move in,” she said playfully with a roll of her neck as she sliced tomatoes up for them.
“Well…” Summer whispered softly, looking at Ellie with soft eyes as she sliced the tomatoes. “Once I get the bigger place there will be room…” she said quietly.
Ellie finished the tomatoes and she moved to the onion and she began to chop those professionally, she stopped at Summer’s words and looked at her tilting her head. “You…” she breathed squinting and then smirked at the realization. “You want me to move in with you Summer?” she asked her full out.
Summer gazed at Ellie, her eyes soft and filled with love as she watched Ellie continue to chop away to prepare the meal. As Ellie turned to her, Summer bit her lip hard and she whispered, “only if you want to,” softly.
Ellie rested the knife down against the chopping board, she didn’t know what to say. She was shocked a little at the thought of Summer wanting her to move in with her. Licking her lips, she chuckled a bit. “You think you are ready for? Are we ready for that? Do you really want that?” she asked her looking at her again. “With Audrey and everything…” she said, “you know,” she said breathing softly.
Summer dropped her gaze at all of Ellie’s questions and she said, “it doesn’t have to just happen,” softly. “If you want to do it, you can move stuff little by little,” she whispered. Slowly she lifted her gaze back up to Ellie, her hazel eyes sparkling a bit. “No rush or anything…” she said softly.
Ellie continued to chop the onions up and she rested the pile aside with the tomatoes. She began to rip the lettuce apart, stacking full pieces off to the side and she inhaled and exhaled sharply. She nodded her head at her words, taking them in. “Summer… What do you see in our future?” she asked her curiously.
Summer bit her lip hard as Ellie asked her question and Summer let out a breath. She was quiet, just gathering her thoughts. “Ellie… I…” Summer bit her lip hard. Truthfully, she hadn’t thought that far ahead. “I honestly… Ellie, I hadn’t thought that far,” she admitted. “I just know that I want to be with you,” she said softly, “and I want to build a life, something, with you.”
Ellie looked to Summer, drying her hands clean from the wet produce, she nodded her head and looked down. “Okay,” she said to her easily, “well,” she told her as she moved to set up to cook the food now. “I’ll bring some things over, leave it in a duffle,” she said to her easily as she grabbed the skillet, drizzled a little olive oil and began heating the pan to use. She set up the pot for the fries, she poured some oil into it and allowed it to begin heating on the stove.
Summer was holding her breath again, waiting for a response from Ellie and when she gave it, Summer smiled softly. Nodding a bit, Summer said, “okay,” softly as she moved around the counter and wrapped her arms around Ellie’s waist gently. “Just… baby steps…” she said quietly.
Ellie looked back at Summer and she smirked as the girl hugged her from behind, she began placing burgers in the pan and she let them sizzle as she grabbed her potatoes, she would fry the Idaho first and then the sweet potato fries. “Give me a kiss,” she told her lovingly.
Summer rubbed Ellie’s hips sweetly and she kissed Ellie’s lips on request. “You make me so happy,” she whispered against her lips, kissing her once more before she pulled away.
Ellie smirked and she moaned as she kissed the woman back a second time. “That’s what I try to do,” she told her honestly. “I can’t put what you do to me in words…” she said softly, turning back to the stove as she pressed down on the burgers and then dropped the fries fearlessly. Some grease popped her but that didn’t bother her as she dropped a few more fries to cook.
Summer smiled lovingly. “You’re so amazing,” she whispered, pressing a kiss to Ellie’s forehead before she turned around. As the grease popped, Summer quickly moved back out of the way. “Babe,” she said quickly, shocked to watch Ellie stand there and let the grease pop her without a care. “That doesn't burn?” she asked.
Wynter came through the door, dropping her backpack off her shoulders as she did. “Hi,” she said as she moved into the loft, closing and locking the door behind her. She headed straight for the table, placing her backpack on it as she sat down. She quickly pulled out her notebooks and textbooks, along with her various classes homework.
As Summer moved back Ellie looked at her and she chuckled, “I am used to it now baby,” she told her honestly. When Wynter walked into the home, her eyes grew, and she placed her hand over her mouth. They had forgotten about her during today's activities and she couldn’t believe it. “Wynter!” she said, “we are so sorry,” she said pleading as she stepped back from the stove looking in her direction.
Summer shook her head. “Third degree burns,” she said biting her lip with a chuckle. As Wynter entered the loft, Summer looked back at her. “Hey,” she said casually before she looked at Ellie. She took in Ellie’s expression before she whipped her head back around to her sister. “Oh!” she said quickly with wide eyes.
Wynter flipped her book open and grabbed a pen from her backpack. She was upset. She waited outside her school for a whole hour before she realized absolutely no one was coming to get her. She was stuck taking the bus. “It’s fine,” she mumbled with her back to the both of them.
Ellie looked to Summer sadly before she looked at Wynter, damn, they fucked up. She had to flip her burgers, so she did and she checked her fries before she said, “Wynter, come here,” easily to the younger girl.
Summer winced at Wynter’s reply to them and she knew her sister was upset. “Wynter we’re sorry,” she said. “It’s no excuse but we lost track of time.”
Wynter slowly turned in her chair, looking back at Summer and Ellie. Reluctantly she stood from her chair and walked over to where Summer and Ellie stood, a scowl on her face as she folded her arms over her chest.
Ellie waited for Wynter to move to her, she nodded her head with Summer, her disappointment in herself displayed across her face and she wrapped the girl up in a hug. “I am so sorry,” she said. “It won’t happen again, pinky promise,” she said holding hers up. “I made burgers and fries,” she tried to smooth over everything, biting her lip hard. “If it makes you feel any better, we were really wrapped in finding a place for you to have room and your own space in… we apologize.”
Summer gazed at her sister and she watched as she moved over to them. Summer placed a hand on Wynter’s shoulder and frowned before she looked to Ellie with a nod. “Yeah, we were trying to find a bigger apartment or a house,” she breathed out.
Wynter stood there, scowling hard as she could with her arms folded over her chest. The nerve of them to forget about her, then try to sooth it over with an I’m sorry. However, at the mention of them looking for a new place where she could have her own room, she perked up slightly. “Really?” she asked, still trying to be upset, but failing miserably. “So, wait… it’s official?” she asked, looking at Summer with wide eyes.
Ellie looked at her nodding her head and she looked to Summer with a smirk at Wynter’s question. She allowed Summer to explain the current situation going on within their family dynamic.
Summer nodded at Wynter, a mixture of emotions on her face. “Yeah, uh, I spoke to mom about it, let her know how you feel and that things are just too unstable for you in that household and she agreed to let me take care of you,” she told her little sister truthfully. “So… you’re my responsibility now,” she chuckled, “as if you weren’t already.”
Wynter looked between Summer and Ellie, her eyes settling on Summer as she explained. She nodded slowly, just taking it all in, having an array of emotions display across her face before she said, “wow, this is great!” She smiled as she looked at Ellie, then Summer. “I’m so happy to be out of that house.”
Ellie looked between the two as they spoke and she quickly turned back to her food. “Shit,” she said hearing the tell end of Wynter’s words as she moved to take the fries out and place them on a pan to drain. She then flipped the burger over once more before she dropped the sweet potatoes in the grease next.
Summer smiled softly at her sister’s reaction and she pulled her into a warm hug, rubbing her back a little. “We’re going to go and pack up your stuff and bring it here,” she said as she pulled away. “It’ll be a bit cramped for a bit, but I am looking for something bigger and hopefully I find something good soon.”
Wynter hugged Summer back, her face in her sister’s shoulder as she smiled. Slowly she pulled away nodding. “I don’t mind being cramped,” she said honestly, just grateful to not have to watch her parents fight and bicker any longer. Looking at Ellie as she rushed over to the food she asked, “can you help me pick out furniture for my room when we move?”
Ellie looked to Wynter. “Me?” she asked her curiously, not knowing who she was asking that question to. Ellie removed each turkey burger from the pan, and she moved them off to the side on a serving platter before she moved to toast the buns slightly, just warming them. “Anybody want cheese?” she asked quietly.
Summer smirked slightly, happy to see her sister so happy. Maybe with her out of the house with her parents she could finally get to the bottom of all of their fighting. As Wynter spoke to Ellie, Summer leaned against the counter, licking her lips hungrily as she looked to the food.
Wynter looked at Ellie and she nodded. “Yes you, silly,” she said with a giggle. As Ellie moved around more, Wynter got out of her way, moving around to the other side of the counter, leaning against it slightly. “I do,” she said with a smile.
Ellie chuckled lightly and she said, “of course, I am here to help you and Summer with whatever you guys need right now,” with a smirk. She placed some cheese onto one of the burgers and placed it in the oven as well to melt the cheese a little. “You babe?” she asked her curiously.
Summer nodded at Wynter; she absolutely did not want to pick out new furniture, but she would have to. Having Ellie’s opinion would help greatly. “That’s a great idea,” she said with a smirk. “You can help decorate,” she said, gripping Ellie’s hip. “Oh, yes please,” she hummed out to the question.
Wynter smirked as she nodded. She rushed over to the table and grabbed her phone, texting her friend. She was so happy she squealed. “Thank you, thank you, thank you,” she rushed back over kissing both Summer and Ellie on the cheek.

HELPING HAND
INVOLVED: Ellie Rose, Wynter Sanders, and Summer Sanders TIMEFRAME: Tuesday, March 10th, 2020 LOCATION: Del Taco - Summer’s Loft; Los Angeles, California SUMMARY: Ellie comes to Wynter’s rescue when she needs to be picked up at a random location. Ellie ends up taking Wynter to Summer’s place, Summer comes home and Ellie and her both lay true feelings bare.
Wynter stood just outside Grand Central Station, her book bag on her shoulders, as she leaned some of her weight on the arm of the suitcase she also carried. She stood near an outlet, the cord hanging from her phone to it, as she charged the device. She scrolled Instagram, looking around every so often, as she waited for Ellie.
Ellie moved down the road, having to GPS the location honestly because she’d never been to it before. When she pulled up, she tried to figure where the girl could be, and she rolled the windows down of her Mercedes. Looking out of them, she rolled the white car forward a little as she looked at all the busy bodies. “Summer is going to kill me and her” she breathed to herself as she picked her phone up and moved to try and text the younger girl.
Wynter continued to stand there and she scrolled away, looking up a little. She saw the white Mercedes roll up and she arched an eyebrow. As the window rolled down, she saw it was Ellie and her mouth dropped. She had no idea Ellie was rolling like that. Quickly, she snatched her charger out the socket and stuffed it into her pocket as she grabbed the handle of her suitcase and began rushing towards the car, accidentally bumping into people as she did. “Sorry, excuse me, sorry, sorry,” she mumbled.
Ellie found the girl again and began to type, she looked up once more. Someone her age did not need to be traveling around LA like this alone. It wasn’t safe and quite frankly it had Ellie on age, her anxiety was through the roof and she hadn’t liked the idea since the day the girl popped up to Summer’s house. Summer needed to get a handle on this. As she spotted Wynter she sighed a breath she didn’t know she was holding, she put the car in park, and she climbed out looking at her. “Here” she said grabbing her bag and placing it in the trunk. “Get in” she said softly.
Wynter moved through the dense crowd of people and when she got close enough, she smiled brightly at Ellie. “Hi,” she said as she handed over her suitcase and moved around to the passenger side of the car, getting in. She quickly took off her backpack and rested it on the floor between her feet.
Ellie moved to climb back in the car, and she licked her lips “hey” she finally said. “Okay so I am taking you to Summer’s house” she said making sure once more as she put the car in drive and moved out of the way driving down the road, as she did, she placed her seat belt on.
Wynter put on her seatbelt as Ellie pulled off and she looked around the car before she nodded. “Please,” she said thankfully. “Thank you again, Ellie,” she said genuinely before she pulled her phone from her pocket. “I would have been stuck without your help,” she admitted. “I hadn’t realized my tap card was wiped out,” she said with a shake of her head. “Mom is supposed to put money on it each month, but I think that she forgot.”
“No problem” Ellie said as she looked over at her, she looked back at the road headed for Summer’s place. As the girl spoke, she nodded her head, tapping the screen to turn the station in the car before she rested her hand on the gear shift. She drove comfortably before she said “it’s fine, glad someone could come get you. Hungry?” she asked her next.
Wynter looked down at her phone, playing a game now as she tapped away. “I am,” she said looking over at Ellie with a small smile, her stomach was growling softly. She shifted in the seat a little before she asked, “you own this car?”
Ellie nodded her head; she wished the girl could get a real meal, but she’d have no time to supply one. “What would you like?” she asked her next. At the girl’s question Ellie chuckled at her lightly “yes” she said nodding her head as she cruised.
“Anything on the route is fine,” Wynter said softly, not really wanting to inconvenience Ellie any more than she already had. As Ellie answered her question, she nodded slowly. “Wow,” she said as she rubbed the seat tenderly. “I want to be able to afford a car like this one day,” she said more so to herself. “When I turn 16, Summer promised to teach me how to drive,” she told Ellie randomly. “She said she won’t teach me how to drive a motorcycle though…”
“Tell me what you have a taste for, and I’ll make it happen” she challenged the girl knowingly. As she kept speaking, she smirked at her and Ellie said “with hard work and dedication-” she trailed off and shook her head. “I didn’t buy this car, someone bought me this car as a gift” she said to the girl. “But honestly, you can do anything you put your mind to” she told her. “Too busy?” she asked her wanting to know why.
Wynter bit her lips softly. “Uh, tacos,” she said thoughtfully after she took a moment to rack her brain. As Ellie spoke, she nodded slowly, “Ohhh,” she said with a smirk. “From your parents?” she asked curiously. At the question, Wynter shook her head. “Summer said it’s too dangerous, even though she drives one herself,” she said shaking her head.
Ellie nodded her head “okay tacos” she told her knowing where she’d take her easily. As she pressed forward Ellie said “yeah” with a head shake, she was lying but who cared. As she continued to speak, she nodded her head just listening to her.
Wynter nodded slowly. “My parents would never buy me a car like this,” she said before she snorted. “They would probably never buy me a car,” she admitted. “Summer would though,” she said thoughtfully.
“Why do you say that?” Ellie asked her curiously as they continued to drive down the road.
“Say what?” Wynter asked Ellie, looking over at the girl as she reached over and began to play with one of her locs, asking, “are these real?”
“Why won’t your parents buy you a car?” Ellie asked Wynter curiously. As the girl touched her hair throwing out another question, she looked at her for a split second before she looked at the road. Ellie shook her head and said “no, this are faux locs” she breathed.
“Oh, well,” Wynter shrugged her shoulders now, “they don’t do much but argue these days,” she admitted. “I couldn’t even tell you what about,” she told Ellie. “So, I know they could never agree on buying me a car,” she said shifting in the seat a bit. “That’s actually why I have a suitcase,” she said softly. “I want to see if Summer will let me stay with her full time for a while, I can’t stay in that house,” she said shaking her head. “It’s getting bad,” she told Ellie. As Ellie told her it was fake hair, she nodded slowly.
Ellie looked to the girl again and she licked her lips as she just spoke using her to vent. She listened taking note, she would talk to Summer about this. This girl needed someone to explain what she’s been dealing with and Summer needed to realize that. It wasn’t enough to just pick her up and let her stay, get to the bottom of it. Damn. She nodded her head letting the girl know she was listening “I’m sorry Wynter” she told her genuinely. “I know what toll that must be taking on you” she said sincerely.
Wynter looked over at Ellie and she shrugged her shoulders. “It’s life you know,” she said with a bite of her lip. Tapping away at her phone, she sighed out and said, “I guess,” she said shrugging once more. “They’re just really loud, day and night,” she said shaking her head. “I don’t understand why they don’t just divorce if they hate each other so much…” she mused aloud as she continued to play the game on her phone.
Ellie looked at the girl again as she nonchalantly dismissed everything that she had just said as if it were nothing. “I don’t think marriage, life, or love is that simple” she replied back to her easily. She continued to drive down the road until she came across a Del Taco and she pulled into the drive through for her. “Del Taco?” she asked though they were already in the line, but she hoped she’d like this spot for tacos.
Beating the level, Wynter looked over at Ellie and she shrugged once more. “I guess,” she said once more. “They need to go to counseling or something,” she told Ellie. She looked around as they pulled into the line for Del Taco and she nodded. “Yes,” she said happily as she squirmed in her seat. She leaned over a little, trying to see the menu.
Ellie looked to her at her words and she tucked her lips in looking out her window as she rolled it down more. She shifted so that the girl could see, moving her seat back. “Order whatever you want” she told her as she opened the middle console looking for a small bill through all the tossed around cash, and when she finally found a twenty, she pulled it out and set it aside.
Wynter nodded at Ellie’s words and she looked over at the menu as the woman spoke through the box, Wynter ordered, “hi, may I have three grilled chicken tacos, hard shell, with mild sauce?” she asked before she said, “and a strawberry lemonade,” she said loud enough to be heard before she sat back.
Ellie allowed the girl to order for herself and when she was done, she leaned out the window and said “that’s all” easily as the woman gave them the total and she moved up in the line. Ellie made it to the window, and she paid for the girl’s food and received the change before she moved up in the line again. Ellie dropped the change in the middle console without much thought before she sat back in her chair.
Wynter sat back as Ellie pulled forward and paid. As they waited for the line to move up more, she looked at Ellie and said, “so what’s the deal with you and my sister?” she asked curiously. “Are you two dating or just… you know?”
Ellie looked at the girl again as she asked her about Summer and her relationship, she chuckled at her question shaking her head and she moved up in the line. Another round of chuckled leaving her even as she said “thank you” to the worker at the window grabbing Wynter’s meal and handing it over to her before she reached for her drink.
Accepting the food, Wynter looked at Ellie with a small smile. “Thank you,” she said honestly as she peeled the bag open. She pulled out the first taco and unwrapped it, still looking at Ellie. “You two are really cute together, either way,” she told Ellie.
“No problem” Ellie told Wynter as she licked her lips driving off as she moved for Summer’s home now. She looked at her “is that right?” she asked her, the girl was so very amusing to her. She told too much and spoke on things she shouldn’t, such a kid.
Wynter bit into the first taco, still looking at Ellie. “Yeah,” she said after she swallowed the first bite. “But you didn’t answer my question,” she said sweetly, batting her long eyelashes at Ellie.
As the girl went on to press her Ellie said “I don’t know what we are Wynter. You’d have to ask her” she shrugged. “I see her when I see. And when I don’t, I don’t” she told her easily as she continued to drive eyes on the road.
Wynter nodded slowly and she took another bite of her taco. “You don’t make an effort to see her regularly?” She asked curiously, she was fourteen and nosey as hell. “I thought you really liked my sister,” she added with a hum as she took another bite.
This damn child. “Summer does her thing and I do my thing. And sometimes we meet in the middle” she said again. “I do like your sister Wynter. That’s obvious. Look at us right now?!” She said looking over at her. “We have a lot of baggage” Ellie said.
Eating the taco in full, Wynter balled up the wrapper and tossed it into the bag before she unwrapped the next as she nodded slowly. “This is true,” she hummed out thoughtfully. At the mention of baggage, Wynter asked, “like what?” she asked.
Ellie looked at Wynter pulling up to Summer’s spot and she told her “grown folks’ stuff” with a glare. “Mind your business” she chuckled to her with a head shake as she parked the car in a spot and turned it off. “You have a key right?” she asked her.
Wynter pursed her lips at Ellie but she nodded anyhow as she took a bite of the second taco. “Okay, okay,” she said softly as Ellie pulled up to Summer’s place. ”I do,” she said as Ellie parked and she re-wrapped the taco, placing it back into the bag. She began to gather her things, making sure that she had her phone and everything as she picked up her backpack. “You’re coming in, right?” she asked.
“You want me to come in?” Ellie asked her back shocked “Summer may not want to walk in on me being in her house… without her knowing” she told her.
Wynter looked at Ellie and she nodded. At the mention of Summer, she said, “please, just for a bit.”
Ellie looked to Wynter and she nodded her head “okay” she told her softly as she unfastened her belt and grabbed her purse. If Summer walked in with another person, she was going to kill her and Wynter.
Wynter smiled softly as Ellie agreed and she pulled her backpack onto one shoulder as she climbed out of the car. She moved for Ellie’s trunk, pulling her bag out before she pulled the handle. Closing the trunk, she moved for the lobby.
Ellie climbed out her car and she popped the trunk for Wynter to get her bag, she locked the doors of the Mercedes. And she moved behind the girl following her as she moved into the building. She looked to her phone and saw Andrew calling “shit” she breathed as she let it ring, she couldn’t answer that now obviously.
Wynter moved into the lobby and hit the button for the elevator, looking at Ellie at her mutter. “What?” she asked softly, arching an eyebrow. The doors rolled open and Wynter stepped into the elevator, hitting 5.
“Nothing girl” Ellie waved off as she tucked her phone in her purse even as it began to ring again. She stepped into the elevator with her and she sighed “maybe I should cook Summer something” she told her before she shook her head. “Disregard that” she told the younger girl as she nervously rested against the elevator wall.
Wynter squinted slightly at Ellie before she nodded and waited for the elevator to rise. At Ellie’s words, she looked over at her, prepared to speak before she was told to ignore the comment. Smirking, Wynter said, “she would enjoy that I’m sure. You know she can’t cook,” she said snickering.
Ellie looked to her and smirked “I didn’t know she couldn’t cook” she told her honestly. “I made food for her before, but she was over my place…” she said softly.
Wynter nodded slowly. “Summer burns water,” she said, shaking her head. “She is not even allowed in the kitchen,” she told Ellie, chuckling. As the doors opened, she stepped off the elevator, moving down the hallway to Summer’s door. She pulled the key from her backpack and she used them to unlock the door, pushing it open.
Ellie looked at the girl and she chuckled softly at her shaking her head, it wasn’t shocking however it was amusing. As they exit out of the elevator Ellie followed the girl to Summer’s loft and she moved into the space looking around. She felt like she was invading the woman’s space and intruding on her. They weren’t together and she didn’t need to be around all the time.
Wynter moved into the loft swiftly, flicking on a light. She rarely used the key, but Summer gave it to her for times like this and emergencies. Rolling her suitcase into the living room, she pressed it against the wall before she pulled her backpack all the way off, resting it on the floor beside her suitcase. She stepped out of her sneakers as well, getting comfortable as she shrugged her jacket off. “Just watch one movie with me,” she said to Ellie as she moved around the couch now. She didn’t want to admit it, but she really hated being in places all alone.
Ellie sat her purse down on the coffee table and she sat on the couch watching the girl. At the girl’s words Ellie nodded her head at her “okay, I can do that” she told her softly as she got comfortable. She was tired but she’d try not to fall asleep on her.
Grateful that Ellie agreed, Wynter sat down on the couch and she curled up her small body, leaning into Ellie laying her head on Ellie’s breasts as she grabbed the remote and turned on the TV, switching it to the Firestick. She quickly navigated through the system before she settled upon Netflix, trying to find something to watch.
Ellie sat with her back in the corner of the couch, she was angled perfectly as she pulled her feet up. Resting comfortably, she allowed Wynter to lie against her, she wasn’t very affectionate all the time, but she had soft spots for young kids. She licked her lips as the girl looked for something for them both to watch as they waited for Summer, she guessed.
Wynter got comfortable against Ellie and she let out a content sigh. She moved into the comedy section and pressed play on Good Burger, a 90’s classic and one of Summer’s favorite. She sat the remote aside and said, “thank you for staying with me,” in a soft tone as she stared at the TV.
Ellie watched as the girl selected something for them to watch, when she did, she nodded her head. “It’s okay, don’t thank me” she told her seriously. “You shouldn’t be alone anyway” she told her.
Wynter nodded slowly and she got up quickly, moving to turn off the light before she moved back into the couch with Ellie, curling up and laying against her once more as she watched the movie.
Summer walked through her front door about two hours later around 8:30pm and she looked over at her TV turned on, her eyebrows furrowing before her eyes shifted over to the couch to see Wynter and Ellie curled up there. She bit her lip softly, a little confused as she closed the door behind her. She had given Wynter a key, so it wasn’t surprising to see her, but Ellie, absolutely. Maybe she had come over, looking for her and Wynter let her in? But Ellie would have just text her, right? Shaking her head, Summer sat her gym bag down and rested her keys on the counter gently, not wanting to disrupt them. She tiptoed over, pressing a kiss to Ellie’s forehead and then Wynter’s before she moved up the steps swiftly.
Ellie’s slept with her elbow pressed into the back of the couch, and her arm propping her head up comfortably. Somewhere down the line she had fallen asleep on Wynter even though she didn’t try to. She released a small snore into the air as she continued to sleep even though Summer’s rustling around. As she felt something or someone touch her, she shifted, opening her eyes slowly. She saw Summer ascending and she said “Summer?” softly looking to see a sleeping Wynter laying against her.
Summer turned slowly, looking back at Ellie on the couch and she came back down the steps slowly. She sat down on the coffee table before Ellie and Wynter and she chuckled softly. “What is going on here?” she asked before she smiled at Ellie and said, “hi,” sweetly.
Wynter laid against Ellie, heavy like a dead weight, breathing in and out deeply as she did. She was curled up in a ball, pressed close to Ellie as she slept away, not hearing a thing.
Ellie looked down at the young girl again stretching her body a bit. “She text me to pick her up from the grand central station” she informed Summer. “She told me she can’t take being in the house with your parents anymore. She packed enough to stay here for longer than just a day” she said seriously. “You have to get a handle on this. What is this? What is going on?” she asked her as she looked back down. “She can’t keep going back and forth Summer. It’s not safe for her to travel LA like this alone, she’s a young girl” she said with seriousness written across her face. “Plus, she needs stability. I dropped everything and went to get her because she didn’t want to bother you. Ms. Busy Body” she said tilting her head to the side. “And I fed her” she added.
Summer was taken back by Ellie’s words as she began to speak, and it showed on her face as her eyebrows furrowed and she tilted her head to the slide a little. What in the world has Wynter told Ellie? She looked at Wynter curled up sleep and she sighed before she looked back at Ellie with sad eyes. “She could have called me,” she frowned slightly. “I would have gotten her,” she said more-or-less to herself than to Ellie before she gently lifted Wynter off Ellie, holding her little sister close as she re-adjusted her on the couch so Ellie could get up. As she rested Wynter down gently on the other side of the couch, she stood and gestured for Ellie to follow her as she moved up the steps, rubbing her fingers through her long, thick curls.
Ellie looked at Summer with soft eyes, she nodded her head at the woman before she watched her shift Wynter. “She called me, she said she didn’t want to bother you or Jasmine” she repeated. As Summer pulled her up, she got up rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she moved with the taller woman.
Summer looked back at Ellie, nodding slowly at her words as she moved up the steps and she flicked on the light up there in her bedroom. She sat down in one of the chairs up there and she pulled Ellie down in her lap as she did. She was quiet for a moment just gathering her thoughts. “I don’t know why she didn’t want to call me but thank you for going to get her,” she said honestly, truthfully. She adored Ellie for taking time out of her day to help her little sister, who meant the world to her. “Uh…” she hummed out now. “Of course, Wynter knows that she can stay with me whenever she wants,” she began gently. “But I can’t seem to get to the bottom of what my parents are really arguing about either,” she admitted. “I’ve tried, several times,” she said, clearing her throat. “My mom is always just so upset and vague,” she admitted, “and uh… my dad and I… well… we haven’t really spoken in like… 8 years…” she said shrugging a bit.
Ellie moved behind Summer, sitting in her lap when ushered to do so. She sat against her, laying her tired head on Summer’s shoulder as she draped her arm around her. “She didn’t tell me much” Ellie lied, considering the girl told her too much honestly. “But I think it’s unfortunate” she said to her. At Summer’s next words she furrowed her brows and said “why?” curiously. She thought she was the only one with daddy issues.
Summer wrapped her arms around Ellie’s waist as she rested in her lap, laying against her. Her hands interlocked against Ellie’s hip and she nodded slowly. “From what I’ve gathered they’re just… unhappy,” she said with a shrug, “but it doesn’t really make any sense as to why they argue every single day about the littlest things,” she sighed softly as she looked down at Ellie. “I wish I could take Wynter full time but technically I don’t think I can and if I do, it would have to be Wynter’s choice to decide that she wants to live with me,” she said with another shrug, since she wasn’t completely sure. At Ellie’s questioning of why she didn’t speak to her dad, Summer sighed. “We had a really big falling out years ago and thing’s just haven’t really been the same since…”
Ellie pecked Summer’s temples lovingly after the woman expressed everything to her that she knew of, understood, felt, and endured. She nodded her head, her lips leaving the woman’s skin finally. “I’m sorry” she said honestly. “I know what that is like” she told her honestly. Her father and her were at odds all the time over the smallest things. All because in her mind she was her sister’s opposite. She rubbed Summer’s back gently and said “just talk to her Summer” easily, she knew the girl would tell Summer everything hell she does it with her. “Sorry, I got so uptight downstairs” she breathed “it just makes me so nervous” she exclaimed easily as she looked at her “her getting around like that by herself, she is a young girl and men just see prey. This world is crazy, and she isn’t safe to continue this path…” she said. Ellie was taking this too personally, but she’d been through it, so she knew, as much as she ravished over men she never once asked any she dealt with to abuse their masculinity and rape her, but it had been done.
Summer let out a deep sigh, looking down at Ellie. “It’s not your fault my family is fucked up,” she mumbled softly. She shifted slightly under Ellie, stretching out her long legs as she nodded slowly. “I will,” she said gently. “I honestly didn’t know it was this bad, to have her trying to take the train to me,” she admitted. “She calls me every now and again to pick her up from school or to come get her from there, but she’s never done this before,” she admitted sadly. At Ellie’s apology, Summer smiled softly, pressing her lips to Ellie’s forehead. “It’s okay,” she said gently. “I know…” she said, agreeing with Ellie. “I hate her riding around on the bus all alone too but she’s 14… I can’t get her a car or anything yet,” she said with a shake of her head. “I guess I just have to reassure her that she can always call on me, no matter what, any time day or night….” she said softly as she held Ellie closer to her, knowing she had been prey to men before and she thought made her so upset.
At her words, Ellie tucked her lips in, and she nodded at her again. “You have me too, like today” she reminded “you don’t have to do it alone if you don’t want to, I’ll always be available” she said softly. “I’ll always come when you call” she told her quietly as the woman hugged her tightly to her. “I just don’t want her out there fending for herself anymore…” she trailed off.
Summer smiled softly at Ellie, “I thank you for that,” she said softly, “truly,” she whispered. “I don’t want to think about what might have happened with her afraid to call me, out there on her own. I’m glad she had you,” she whispered before she bit back a chuckle at Ellie’s words. “I know you will,” she said, smirking, her mind completely in the gutter. Summer nodded slowly, pulling her mind out of the drain. “I’ll talk to her about staying with me full time for a while,” she said thoughtfully as she looked around her loft. She honestly might have to move into a bigger place, a two bedroom, to truly accommodate her sister.
Ellie smiled at Summer and she nodded her head at her once more. “Good,” she said to her with a head nod, she appreciated Summer taking this seriously. She knew Erica would have for her if the shoes were on the other foot. She pecked the side of her face again “okay, well I guess I’ll get going then, now that you are here…” she told her knowingly.
Summer bit her lip softly and she buried her face in Ellie’s neck, whispering. “You don’t have to leave,” she said gently, rubbing Ellie’s side lovingly, wanting her to stay.
Ellie looked to her and she smirked “oh yeah” she asked her softly as she kissed the girl on her lips lovingly. “I’ll stay” she said against her lips as she leaned up. “Are you hungry, I can cook you something really quickly” she said cupping her face.
Nodding, Summer said, “yeah,” before Ellie kissed her lips. Hearing Ellie agree to stay, Summer beamed like a kid in a candy store. God, she really liked Ellie. As she asked her if she was hungry, Summer nodded slowly. “I could eat,” she admitted softly, with a smile as Ellie cupped her face. She leaned in once more, capturing Ellie’s lips in a tender kiss before she pulled back, gazing at her with so much love in her eyes.
Ellie smiled at her deeply, dimples creasing, and she nodded as Summer kissed her again tenderly. As she gazed at her love in her eyes she gazed back at her withering under that stare. She had only dealt with that stare 2 other times in her life and it made her heart race rapidly. “Let me cook you something up” she said running from the butterflies she felt inside, they were starting to sink her further into Summer’s depths these days. She climbed off of her and said “then after I can bathe you and put you to bed” she said pecking her cheek one last time and she walked back down the stairs quietly. Moving to the kitchen to see what she could whip up quickly.
Summer gazed at Ellie so intensely, her own heart beating rapidly in her chest. A feeling that she hadn’t felt in a very long time bubbling up within her. Her dimples creased inward as deeply as they could, and her eyes shined bright as Ellie pulled away from her slowly. Summer slid her hands from around Ellie, letting her rise, reluctantly. “Okay…” Summer said, her voice tender and she smiled even wider at Ellie, her eyes fluttering along with her heart as she let out a loving giggle as Ellie pecked her cheek. “You spoil me,” she whispered as Ellie walked away and Summer stood from the chair herself. She transitioned into a pair of biker shorts and a sports bra before she moved downstairs and set up the day bed for Wynter. With the bed set up and covered with a fitted sheet, she lifted Wynter easily and moved her over to the daybed, laying her head down on the pillow and covering her with the blanket.
Ellie washed her hands once in the kitchen and she reluctantly turned on the light. She didn’t want to wake Wynter. The woman opened the fridge and managed to find some stuff she could make a decent tomato-based pasta sauce with chicken. She knew what she’d make, and it was quick and easy. She’d make a garlic basil chicken pasta with a tomato and garlic butter sauce. Once that was established, she quickly moved to prepare the dish, after a while Summer had surfaced with a change of clothes she wondered if she took the bath without her; darn. Ellie moved to finish off the meal, she took the cooked chicken and began to slice it professionally in strips for her despite the heat and steam it was giving off. She plated the pasta, trying to be as neat and clean as possible. She always prided the way she plated things, before she plated the chicken over the noodles at an angle. Picture perfect.
Summer looked down at Wynter in the bed and she sighed deeply before she turned and looked at Ellie in her kitchen. So domestic. She smiled sweetly as she walked over, pausing to grab the remote and turn off the TV. She moved into the kitchen and walked up behind Ellie, wrapping her up in her arms from behind. “Looks amazing,” she whispered. As she held Ellie, her heart thudded in her chest and she wondered if Ellie could feel it against her back.
Ellie took the towel off her shoulder and cleaned her hands happily, damn she was good. As Summer came behind her, she looked at her over her shoulder “I hope you like it, I just used what I could find around” she told her. She rested her hand on one of Summer’s arms “here taste” she said offering her a fork she’d clean for her to eat with. “I made enough for you to take to the studio tomorrow, that’s if you like it” she said to her easily.
Summer smiled lovingly. “I’m sure I will,” she whispered, pressing a kiss to Ellie’s jawline before Ellie offered her a taste and she loosened her arms a little as she took the fork and dipped it into the pasta. She brought it to her mouth, blowing just a little before she ate it. “Mm,” she hummed out as she chewed. She swallowed fully before she said, “delicious.” She gave Ellie a squeeze with the arm that she had still wrapped around her before she let her go. “I’ll definitely be taking some to work tomorrow,” she told Ellie as she picked up the plate and began to eat, hungrily.
Ellie looked to Summer as she tried it and she smirked “good, I didn’t know how it would turn out, with me just throwing something together” she chuckled lightly as she continued to eat. “Sit and eat, let me get you something to drink” she told her sitting the towel aside and she moved to the fridge pulling out something to drink for her and poured it into a cup for her handing it over before she began to clean the kitchen top to bottom.
Summer sat down as Ellie told her too and she nodded slowly. “I know I don’t have much to cook with,” she said knowingly. “I’m not the best cook,” she admitted as she ate the food. As Ellie handed her something to drink and began to clean the kitchen, Summer watched her with heart eyes. If emotions were real, that would actually be Summer right now. “Ellie…” she breathed softly as she gazed at her, a smirk on her face.
Ellie started with the dishes, she packed Summer’s leftovers up in a container she found that had a lid and set it aside. Food had to cool to a neutral temperature before you could place it in the fridge. Once she did that she moved towards the dishes, she washed those up and rinsed them off before she dried them one at a time “hm?” she asked as she continued her task.
Summer just watched Ellie as she moved around her kitchen, so easily. She ate her food and just continued to watch Ellie. As Ellie responded to her, Summer looked at her like a deer in headlights. “Uh…” she said gently, she honestly hadn’t meant to speak out loud. “I really… really… like you…” she said quietly. She truthfully didn’t voice it enough, “and I appreciate you,” she told her.
Ellie put the dried dishes up she used, and she looked up and over at Summer’s words a smile on her face. “You do?” she asked her teasingly as she dried her hands and moved over to Summer. “How much baby?” she asked her as she looked in her eyes and she kissed her lips sweetly.
Summer dropped her eyes as Ellie looked over at her and she looked down at her plate, a blush rising on her freckled face. “I do,” she said looking at Ellie, her face red. Gazing into Ellie’s eyes, she breathed out. Kissing Ellie’s lips sweetly, she wrapped her arm around Ellie’s thick frame. “So much,” she whispered, her heart thudding once more. Was she falling in love with Ellie?
Ellie leaned into Summer and she nuzzled the crook of her neck, butterflies swarming her insides again. “I really, really, really like you too” she said to her as she drew back looking at her in close proximity. She hugged her for a moment before she kissed her lips again.
Summer smiled as Ellie nuzzled her and she sat her fork down, wrapping Ellie up completely as she held her close. As Ellie drew back, Summer gazed into her eyes and deeper; she looked into Ellie’s soul. She inhaled a sharp breath as butterflies exploded in her stomach and her heart raced even more. She was falling in love with Ellie. Summer rested her hands on Ellie’s thick hips and she squeezed lovingly. “I…” she whispered softly, her voice catching in her throat. “At Firefly,” she began again, “you said you were afraid of falling in love with me…” she whispered. Summer blinked slowly; her gaze deep. “Don’t be…”
Ellie gazed at Summer, as Summer gazed at her, their eyes were speaking words that their mouths couldn’t. She knew how she felt, and Summer was translating hers to her right now in this moment. She wanted to look away but something about her eyes made her stay still, fixed on them. At her words she rested her hand on her shoulder, nodding slowly “I won’t be” she admitted to her truthfully as she continued to look into her eyes, her chest tightening as she thought about the fact that she already was. It was the small things, but they had been causing emotions and feelings to surface that she hadn’t felt in a while. “Don’t worry” she told her.
Summer let out a breath as Ellie spoke and she nodded slowly, pressing a tender hand to Ellie’s cheek as her thumb stroked there. “Good,” she whispered gently before she leaned in, capturing Ellie’s lips, pouring her heart into the kiss. Her wondering tongue spoke all the words that she couldn’t as she pulled Ellie as close as she possibly could.
At her words she smiled again, her lips curled, and her eyes beamed with love. Summer kissed her deeply and Ellie closed her eyes as the electricity ran from Summer to her instantly. Sparks flying. Damn. she inhaled sharply as she tilted her head as she cupped the woman’s face with both of her hands. She allowed her tongue in and they both danced with each other lovingly as she grew hot for Summer as well, her body tingling and her pussy igniting from the girl’s love filled touches.
Fireworks exploded behind Summer’s eyelids and she moaned quietly as Summer drunk her down with as much passion and wonder. Her hand rested on Ellie’s hips, the other still cupping her face, her entire body tingling from their closeness. Slowly Summer pulled away from Ellie, taking a deep breath as she did. She blinked slowly, a smile spreading on her lips before she turned her eyes to look at her empty plate. “I think I’m ready for my bath,” she whispered.
As Summer pulled away Ellie inhaled deeply for the first time, her body was buzzing, and she nodded. “Okay” she said, easily grabbing her plate and moving to wash it clean and dry it, “go upstairs I’ll be right there” she told her as she moved to wipe down the counters and the stove as well. Ellie finished, washed her hands and turned the light off moving back upstairs to Summer’s room once she was done. She eagerly moved to run some water for Summer, she made sure the water was nice and warm as she knelt beside the tub. Once she did that, she moved to find some kind of bubble bath for her, Epsom salt as well considering her rigorous occupation and she added them to the water. Once she was done with them, she placed them back where she found them and moved back to the tub checking the water again.
Summer did as Ellie asked her and she moved up to her bedroom, laying down on the bed slightly as she waited for Ellie. She just relaxed her body as she stared up at the ceiling. Wow. She was in love. She hadn’t been in love since Isaac and that was many, many years ago. But with Ellie it was different. She knew, she felt it deep in her bones. But it did scare her. It scared her to her core. As she heard Ellie coming up the stairs, she sat up some, watching as she moved into the bathroom. Hearing the water, Summer smiled softly.
Ellie turned the water off once she filled the tub to the point where she wanted it and she stood up moving out of the bathroom. “It’s ready for you” she told Summer with a smile, resting her hands on her hips and biting her lip.
Summer continued to lay there as Ellie prepped the bath for her and she only sat up once Ellie came and told her it was ready. Standing from the bed, Summer pulled the sports bra off and tossed it aside before she pushed her shorts down and she smiled as she approached Ellie, completely naked. Her curls swung behind her as she walked, and she placed her hands on Ellie’s hips as she approached. She gripped the hem of Ellie’s t-shirt and began to tug it up.
Ellie looked at Summer as she completely undressed in front of her and as she moved for her next removing her shirt Ellie allowed her. Raising her arms as she hiked the t-shirt up and over her head.
Summer pulled the shirt over Ellie’s head after she lifted her arms. Tossing it to the side, she reached around Ellie and unhooked her bra, sliding it from her arms and placing it aside as well. Summer slid her hands down Ellie’s stomach and began to unbutton her jeans with a sweet smile.
Ellie watched Summer with a smirk she had only meant for her to take a bath, but she guessed the woman had other ideas. She allowed her to remove her bra and slid it off her arms before she watched her closely as she began to unbutton her jeans.
Summer unzipped Ellie’s jeans and she began pushing them down, along with her panties. She knelt slightly, looking up at Ellie to step out of the articles of clothing before she sat them aside as well. She stood fully and took Ellie’s hand, pulling her into the bathroom with her. Summer reached for a hair tie and pulled her curls up into a sloppy bun atop her head.
Ellie allowed the girl to push the jeans over her thick hips and down her thick thighs. After she was done Summer led her towards the bathroom and she followed her in there as she moved to put her hair up Ellie climbed in.
Summer turned to Ellie as she climbed in and she smiled softly. She stepped in behind Ellie, Summer lowered herself into the water carefully and she reached her hands out for Ellie to lay against her.
Ellie sat facing Summer as she lowered herself in the tub with her as she ushered her over, she moved forward. Placing her hands on the outer edges and she straddled her gently as she rested against the woman, her arms wrapping around her lovingly.
Summer smiled as Ellie sat facing her and she shifted slightly, making it easier for Ellie to straddle her. Her hands fell into the water as she held Ellie by her ass. She kissed Ellie’s nose lovingly before she laid her head back against the back of the tub, sinking them down further into the water as she did.
Ellie caressed Summer’s sides gently as she rested against her, sinking into the water more with her. She left the woman’s hands on her ass, she shifted only a little as she closed her eyes. She sat quietly for a moment before she said, “I’m ready to let them all go for you”.
Summer opened her eyes slowly at Ellie’s words and she looked at her, the butterflies rising once more. “Me too,” she breathed out, holding Ellie closer as her hands slid from her ass, up her back.
Ellie smiled at her words, it wouldn’t be easy, and some people would be pissed. But she was curious to see where this would go. She tried to usher the feeling in her stomach away as she breathed deeply the words on the tip of her tongue, but she swallowed them down choosing to close her eyes instead.
Summer gazed at Ellie, her breathing a little hitched in her throat. She felt nervousness, excitement, and passion all in one. As Ellie closed her eyes, Summer pressed a kiss to her forehead, her lips lingering there as her hands rubbed up and down Ellie’s back lovingly. “So, does this mean you’re my girlfriend?” she asked Ellie sweetly, a small chuckle escaping from the back of her throat at the thought. God, she loved this woman, despite herself.
Ellie leaned up looking at her with a smirk on the sides of her lips and she said “I can be whatever you need to be” easily, it was part of her charm she was a slick talker. She kissed her lips “girlfriend, woman, wife.. whatever” she said with a chuckle.
Summer bit her lip at Ellie’s words and she smirked slightly. Kissing Ellie back, she said, “wife,” thoughtfully, her heart ready to explode. “I think girlfriend is a good place to be right now,” she told Ellie to smooth over the way she was tingling from the inside out.
At Summer’s words she took it as a grain of salt, she was joking, and she was sure Summer was being playful too. Ellie nodded her head at her and laid back down against her chest once more.
Summer smiled softly, biting back her emotion as Ellie laid against her chest. She was sure Ellie could feel her heart rapping against her chest. Holding Ellie lovingly in her arms, Summer began to hum softly, not really humming anything in particular, just out of happiness. Audrey would be devastated, this she knew, but Summer couldn’t not be with Ellie. When she wasn’t around Ellie all she did was crave her. She craved her closeness, her warmth, simply her being. She was addicted. No, she was in love. Summer began to idly drag her fingers against Ellie’s damp skin, writing out I love you in cursive, over and over again.
Ellie closed her eyes content in the moment, the amusing thing is with Summer she didn’t sex, gifts, or anything to ensure happiness. Her presence had become enough and that is when she knew she was enough. Ellie was fighting herself to not tell Summer the truth knowing that the woman wouldn’t say it back to her anyway. It was too soon they were still fresh and new. “I don’t think I need anything else right now but you” she said instead which honestly was probably heavier than I love you at this point. But she had to tell her how she felt so that she’d know and understand.
Summer’s fingers wrote the words over and over and over again. It was the best way she knew how to express how she felt to Ellie. As Ellie’s words, Summer looked at her and she breathed deeply. “Ellie… you’re truthfully, all I want,” she said lovingly. “I crave you when I’m not around you,” she told Ellie. “You’re always on my mind and Ellie…” she paused for a moment, taking a breath. “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me in a long time,” she admitted.
Ellie looked at Summer again, her words filling her up and drowning her at the same time. God it felt good. To have someone who felt so highly of her in a world where people always made her feel like shit. She couldn’t contain herself. She had to say it as her eyes watered “I love you Summer” she stammered out she dropped her head. “You don’t have to say it back,” she said quickly. “Sorry” she added as she wiped a stray tear, “no one has ever said anything to me like that before…” she breathed.
Summer breathed deeply, her heart swelling up in her chest. She was filled with so much emotion. At Ellie’s words, Summer’s eyes widened slightly before they softened. She opened her mouth to speak back but Ellie spoke once more, and she listened to her. As Ellie wiped her tears, Summer said, “I love you too Ellie,” softly. “You’re so special,” she said to Ellie. “You’re light shines so bright.”
As Summer actually said she loved her back it was like all the air left Ellie’s body. Her heart was about to explode, and her chin quivered gently as more tears fell from her eyes. “I can’t believe you said it back” she told her in shock. As the woman went on, she dropped her head again, her words were so hard to receive because outside of her sister and maybe Andrew no one poured into her. As a child the girl felt she was ugly thanks to the men who abused her, she didn’t know that she shined or had light to her. “Thank you” she croaked. “You are perfect” she told her.
Summer gazed at Ellie with all the love that she had to give. “Of course, I said it back,” she smiled at Ellie, holding the woman tightly, rubbing her back and sides as she did. She took Ellie in as she dropped her head and Summer lifted her hand, lifting Ellie’s chin. “No, thank you,” she said gently, “for you sharing your light with me,” she whispered. “You’re absolutely perfect Ellie and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise or try to steal your light,” she Summer told Ellie lovingly. “Not even me.”
Ellie looked at Summer as she lifted her head by her chin as more tears spilled from her. Ellie nodded her head at Summer as she spoke nothing but positivity and light into her, this she would cherish forever. She had no real words to describe what it meant to a broken little girl after all these years. “Okay” she said to her softly as she nodded her head again. “Kiss me” she said in a baby soft voice.
Summer leaned in and captured Ellie’s lips at her asking and she held her close, molding their bodies as one as she drank her down. Summer let out a soft moan from the passion she felt as more fireworks exploded behind her eyelids.
Ellie kissed the woman back chuckling a little, how did she manage to find love like this? She drank Summer down passionately and she tilted her head again as she did before pushing herself into her more and more. She wrapped her arms around her neck and moaned softly.
Summer felt like she was exploding over from the inside out. All of her organs were dancing, and she felt so elated. As Ellie moved even closer to her, Summer let out a whimper and she broke their kiss, just catching her breath for a moment before she captured her lips once more.
Ellie hummed out as she opened her eyes for a moment before she closed them again as Summer removed her lips only to kiss her once more. Ellie chuckled at her sweetly as she pulled away from her lips, she felt so pure and so at peace right now. She assumed she was chuckling simply because of her happiness as she looked at Summer.
Summer smiled as Ellie pulled her lips away and began chuckling and she chuckled too, feeling so giddy inside. She lifted her hand out the water, gently stroking Ellie’s cheek as she said, “I love you,” once more.
Ellie looked at her and she smiled brightly at her “I love you too, baby” she said honesty laced in it all as she did.
