SAGA OF THE REALIVE QUEEN TRANSCRIPT
"Your Highness." King Modland bows to his ninety-seventh predecessor.
The pair are seated around a brazier in the middle of the floor. There is a little pot surrounded by coals, which is surrounded by a deep riverlike trench. It is not the most comfortable place in the palace, but it is the most private.
Queen Samora Montoya does not have much need for comfort. She is dead, after all.
That does not stop her from being amazed at the general changes since she's been gone. But the brazier looks familiar.
"The world is...far different than when I was alive. How long have...you ruled, Modland?"
"I am fairly new to this job; It was vacated but a month ago by Queen Isomala."
[I wonder if Isomala had a bad omen of what was to come and split before she was headfirst into a mystical mystery. It looks like Samora is thinking the same before she continues]
"You know...after I died, my son, King...Voltiss took the Three Thrones, but...after him came the first elected King, Jimpas."
"That is...where I come back into...the picture."
"When my...grandparents first found these planets, they were inhabited by scant...groups of rogue Skalamanders...among others. My family...bartered and fought them off. But there...was something else...who owned these...planets...A spirit."
"We could...have the planets if she could...have a princess. My grandparents only had my ... father, Salazar. That is...why for the first thirty or so years...there was a certain...difficulty in ...colonalizing the planets. She wasn't sure....if we would...keep our bargain."
"Then my parents...were married. And I came. And I was....The Princess that Was Promised. The curse....would only happen after death. I was her...princess for the planets. I don't think...my parents knew about it."
"So...if it was a curse in death, should it not bother you?"
"Death is actually...very active. But this spirit - I cannot name her here - has been slowly growing inattentive....to this system. For what...I don't know. I want...out of it. I want to be able..to visit the planets...again. She would not let...me leave...if I returned...it won't be good."
Modland was very quiet. "If your captor is faulting in her...say, magical upkeep of our planets, though I have not noticed such a thing, will she not simply release her hold?"
"The planets...would crumble. Ideally...us royals would become the Soul of the System. We would...will...take power from her and...restore attentiveness. It won't be easy...she won't want to let it or I go... I am sorry...Modland, but...you cannot sit....this out."
"Nor would I dream of it. I took the oath as did Isomala before me, Niobake before her, and you so many years ago. To protect and serve the Crimea System, and I shall."
[As far as I'm concerned, this spirit is a god. Wrestle your home from a god who gave it to you for a princess...how hard can that be?]
"When she realizes I have...gone, she...will be furious. Her influence will be felt in this dimension...slowly, she will be able...to be fought."
"What...I want to know for now is...how did you know...I was in Transil before...the Mayor?"
He gestured toward the brazier. "It has something to do with this..." he looks towards me now, smiling slightly. "I am sorry, Riola, but this is for those Appointed. I am sure you have enough to spur the worlds into battle soon enough."
[The Queen stares at me with those filmed over fuscia eyes. I bow to both of them and take my leave.]
