POW! WOW! HAWAII! is a gathering of contemporary artists that engages with the broader community in the process and creation of art that is centered around a week-long event in Hawaii taking place over Valentine’s Day (February 11th through the 18th, 2017) in the Kaka’ako district of Honolulu.
The mural festival is fleshed out with a block party alongside the Honolulu Night Market, an exhibition curated by Thinkspace Gallery at the Honolulu Museum of Art, a print show with Detroit-based 1xRun, artist talks, the “Saving Banksy” documentary premiere, “Art to the Pitch” soccer tournaments, break dancing battles with UDEF, as well as a DIM MAK Anniversary Concert with Steve Aoki presented by Electric Palms and POW! WOW!
The roster for this year’s visiting mural artists: Careaux, Cinta Vidal, Dan Witz, Defer, The Draculas, Drew Merritt, Evoca, Glazed Paradise, James Jean, Joram Roukes, Kevin Lyons, Maya Hayuk, Michelle Tanguay, MR. Jago, Oakoak, OG Slick and Ouizi.
Alongside local Hawaiian artists: Beak, Ckaweeks, Dak1ne, Devour, Gavin Murai, Hoven, Jasper Wong, Jeffrey Gress, Kai Kaulukukui, Kamea Hadar, Kaplan Bunce, Katch, Lucky Olelo, Maek, Mason Rose, Mung Monster, Ran Noveck, Prime, Puff, Rolando Venegas, Solomon Enos, Soker, Uglykids, Whomu and Wooden Wave.
Wish I could be attending this year but I will be posting day-by-day updates of this event - which I consider to be one of the most important, if not the most important, art events happening in the world right now.
Coverage for POW! WOW! HAWAII! 2015 and 2016.
