TL;DR: Two dimensions destroyed by particle accelerator, dystopian machines spread across multiverse.Ā
In a less-shock-more-unsettling twist of fate, the anomaly-ridden universe of Tales of the LoopĀ has congealed over the crumbling, hivemind-infested, economically-collapsed world ofĀ The Electric State. And itās all because of that damned particle accelerator. Turn out, a chunk of land materializing inside 2 of itās cooling towers is not good for it.Ā
As the massive device overheated, it collapsed in on itself, creating a temporo-spatial rift, wrenching both universes to pieces.As the two dimensions were torn apart, the pieces scattered every which way. Fragments of both realms were sent flying throughout the surrounding worlds.Ā
Worse yet, the temporo part of the temporo-spatial rift may or may not have reverse-aged much of the old, decaying technology scattered throughout the country, reactivating it in the process; the spatial part will have some... unpredictable affects on them.
So if you are living in one of these universes, and have come here seeking answers, advice, or someone to blame, Iām sorry, but I can only prescribe this.
Run.

LAND BASED:
The Walkers:
These towering machines were designed for large-scale military engagements, coming equipped with a set of 4 giant cannons, 2 on either side of the body, and another, smaller pair mounted on the head. Occasionally, you will see models with missing or no weapons. These are probably because the rift didnāt repair the entirety of their structure.
The Abominations:
A mass of wires, cables, joints, and mechanical advertisements, these fetid hunks of scrap are the products of the Convergence, a hivemind residing within the Sentre Neural net. The electrical cables flowing from their bodies are capable of movement, and will grab anything within their reach.
The Grabbers:
These are one of the few classes of machines that have not been structurally touched by the riftās anomalous property, and attack anything they see. They are capable of moving quite fast (About 17 mph at top speed).
The Support Mechs:
Resistant only to 20mm x 80mm caliber shells or less, these machines, as their name implies, Only attacks from a distance, and if provoked. You can tell if it is in a periodic inactive state, by the flaps over itās eyes being closed. It is armed with a laser cannon on itās underside, and a rear-mounted machine gun on itās head.
The Jugger:
Only one of this unit was left intact afterĀ they ceased itās production, and as such, only one exists. It, like most other machines scattered across the multiverse, has been reactivated and made autonomous as well. However. the rust coating its grimy yellow exterior still remains.Ā
AIR-BASED:
The Autesions:
The smallest of the fleet, the frigates were once controlled by pilots wearing virtual reality devices called Neurocasters. Equipped only with 4 cannons on swivelingĀ discs, these are the most common machines to be found.
The Penthei:
Not much bigger than the frigates, these assault ships are more heavily armed, sporting a swivelling gun turret and A set of autocannons on the front. They have two modes: Automatic, and manual. Most have been at to Automatic.
The Amphions:
Unlike the others, the placement of this behemothās weapons systems indicate that the long, duckbill-like hull is itās front, not itās back.Ā it bears resemblance to the frigates, but its cannons are significantly smaller and lower-mounted than what they would be. On itās deck are six ball-turrets, with a single cannon on each. There is a also a set of guns on itās port-stern and starboard-stern sides.
Back in the day, these used to carry Autesions, deploying them from it's massive gun tower.
The Dummies:
Unlike the rest, these drones have no weapons, and the top of their cylinder-shaped superstructure has been painted red, so I can only assume they were created for training purposes. They compensate for their lack of offensive armament by making dangerously low passes, in an attempt to maim, and in some cases, suicide runs.
The U.F.Oās:
The reasoning behind the design of these oddities is unknown. They only have two armaments: A double-autocannon battery on either side of the front-underside, and an enormous L.A.S.E.R array protruding from the hull. they are slow to turn, and the gun batteries have rather poor traversing ranges.
Strangely, the headsets for these number in the thousands.
Mike:
This is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous drones in existence. It is fast, merciless, and extremely intelligent. If you see this freak of engineering I highly suggest that you find somewhere to hide.Ā
aw heck nah Netflix got to The Electric State noooooo š
Watched the Netflix trailer for the Electric State movie and a recap of the movie
And as expected, they don't seem to be following the book much... at all...
It's more like they glazed the plot and pictures and went off that
For those curious, the Electric State is a novel by one of my favorite artists ever, Simon StƄlenhag. The original graphic novel is so calm, melancholic and dystopian. The best I can do to describe the plot is it's about a girl and a robot controlled by her brother as they travel across the almost post-apocalyptic Western Coast to find said brother; it has themes of hyper consumerism. Sadly, the movie has the typical "epic action movie" vibes starring Chris Patt and Millie Bobby Brown and treating the AI like they're friends and we're one in the same (in the book the robots were contributors to the hyper consumerism). Doesn't help that this over 320-million-dollar movie was directed by the Russo brothers, people who've gone on record to endorse AI, which is funny considering Electric State condemns it.
Heck according to the comments under one of the trailers, one of the trailers for this didn't even credit Simon.
I'd highly recommend checking out the graphic novel The Electric State, and shoot, check out Simon's other works too.
They're beautiful, but somber.

Yeah like the other person in the comments said they did have the aesthetics of the book. But the only other stuff they took from the book was Michelle's name and her motivation to find her brother. That's it.
List of stuff down below of what the book had that the movie didn't have. Spoilers for people who haven't read the book.
There is no AI.
All the robots were/are controlled by humans.
The USA had a civil war that was fought by drone pilots who wore older versions of Neurocasters which required them to use addictive drugs that also destroyed their ability to reproduce.
People who wear the Neurocasters too long meld into a digital hivemind.
Neurocasters keeps the mind alive as long as it is worn. It does not protect the body from harm.
Graphic description of someone's brain getting chunkified by an anti-matter round.
Michelle's bio parents didn't die in a car crash. Instead her father is unmentioned (if I recall correctly) and her mom was a veteran who died from a drug overdose after being abandoned by the government. (foster parents "died" due to the Neurocasters)
Michelle dyed her blonde hair black because she wanted to distance herself from the "popular" girls and to spite her foster mom (who Michelle beat over the head with a lunch tray after she mocked her for wanting to dye her hair). Kind of important to her character. They keep her blonde in the movie for some fucking reason.
Michelle had a girlfriend who broke up with her after a crazy priest converted her. Heartbreaking to read.
Michelle found her brother's body rotting away in a house while wearing a Neurocaster. Still alive and in control of Cosmo.
It is implied that she and him rowed out into the ocean in a kayak to be swallowed by the waves.
Cultist working for the hivemind hunting for her brother as well, possibly what Giancarlo Esposito's character was based on.
There are no words on god's green oearth that can begin to describe the disappointment I feel right now.
Yeah, looks like they left out almost the whole hog.
When you think about it, what they did with the movie is kind of like the symbolism behind the book. They took the face value, leaving the substance behind.
Turns out I grossly underestimated the Stalenhag community's capacity for interaction. That, and the percentage of people willing to RP about something not sex-related.
This has kind of been on standby until I can scrap enough time to make some dedicated references, promotional art, ideas...that kind of thing.

But getting back to the question, given what I know from the snippets of the book Iāve seen on the internet, the movie is likely going to be one of two things.
1. The sci-fi horror of the century,
2. A Star Wars Christmas Special-esque meltingshit.
