Brother of Mine.
haloforanoose:
… I have it on good account that your brooding is hazardous. Wha— funny. It’s not a… crush. I don’t need anyone. Crush… what a horrible term. [Lucifer ran a hand through his hair, loose and ragged on his forehead, and sat forward. It was uncomfortable to remain on his back, especially with his brother at his side. The tension between the angels had lessened, however, Lucifer felt slightly on edge in Michael’s presence. It was clear that Michael was trying to abridge the distance, even Lucifer was able to see the effort. How was he supposed to pretend that everything was okay, though? It had been one thing to want to relish in the false pretenses, but a different story to lean into it. His gaze was focused on his brother’s profile, tracing the sharp contours to Michael’s eyes.
He recognized the pain in Michael’s eyes, darkened at the edges. Lucifer had wanted to make Michael feel it; a degree of the agony that had been imbued into his very being. They had done worse to each other in the cage. Shifting through celestial forms and manifestations, attacking the other with unbridled fury. Lucifer’s Cage violated the privacy of the imprisoned, slicing through barriers without rhyme or reason, and scratched at the walls until its prisoners were driven to insanity. There had been no time to look at each other without a roil of rage, no time to look at the damage inflicted. His cage was different than Hell. The monstrous construction was a Hell meant for Lucifer, not his brother.] … you don’t think I haven’t thought about it? I’m the one that has been taking the lives. … unlike the rest of you? I’m willing to do whatever is necessary. It’s survival. You may be willing to overlook certain… things. Others won’t. I’m public enemy number one. There’s nothing too beneficial about the name. … is that so? What other ways? Souls? How is that any better? Michael, you said it yourself. Causalities are going to happen. This way…? They’re at least put to use. It’s not like there aren’t more of yo— us.Â
It's the true term, Lucifer, at least from my current point of view. I don't trust you with this woman... Not when you've made it obvious for your hatred on our fathers creation. What makes her different to you? *the question was a serious one but he figured it was most definitely not the right time to ask so he shrugged his shoulders and moved on with the conversation between them*
*Michael kept his gaze fixed on Lucifer, merely looking down towards his brother who was lay on the bed from the weak state that he had been forced into. No doubt draining all of that Grace would result in something like this, Lucifer had surely known that but still, this punishment did not fit the crime. Michael was just far too concerned in his brother to even attempt such punishment that would go against everything that he had told Lucifer since he arrived that mornin. Michael wasn't going to betray his brother after the last time something terrible happened between the two of them, not now and not ever. Focusing on fixing this rather than getting back at Lucifer for what he had been doing to their brothers and sisters was far more appropriate.*
Just because there are many more doesn't mean it's alright to destroy the ones that you come across. They are our brothers and sisters, Lucifer, and you took everything from force because they refused to help you. The more you continue like this the harder it's going to be in our search for forgiveness... You can turn the tables around now... Borrow the souls of those who want to help further this world and when we're done, we create a paradise in its place, we return those souls that we borrowed. Doesn't that sound better? *Michael narrowed his eyes, hoping the plan in his mind didn't sound too bad to somebody else; it hadn't been something he spoke of before and Lucifer was the person he should discuss it with, even if that meant his potential opponent knew of what he intended to do. The two of them both quite clearly wanted the gates opened and even if their battle went to the way it was before they fell into the cage, at least the power from heaven and hell would be further in their grasp.*
