yo, i got a question. i just discovered this blog and i wanted to ask if there's a chance that there will be a fowl friday dedicated to the 'old guard' of the earthland police such as Root or Vinyaya
The LEP? Yeah, I think we had that once but if people wanna do it again then that's coop! I can't organise one this week bc I'm away, but we could do that next week maybe?
Think of all the amazing, aluminum hats Foaly must have had, yo. Pony-boy is stylin'. (Also: Imagine the few he specifically fashioned to annoy the surrounding, lesser mortals.)
OK FIRST OFF LET ME SAY I’M REALLY SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO POST THIS
AND SECOND OFF LET ME SAY YES THAT 100% IS TRUE
AND THIRD OFF LET ME SHOW YOU THESE PICTURES WHICH ARE THE REASON IT TOOK SO LONG FOR ME TO REPLY
I am a huge Artemis Fowl fan but I have a question about Fowl Friday tomorrow. Is it Paradizo Friday or Mulch and Foaly Friday?
Sorry I didn't get to this earlier - I was asleep, then not on the computer :o
Today is Mulch + Foaly Friday - Paradizo Friday was I think two weeks ago now? But you can post anything you like from any Fowl Friday - just tag it 'Fowl Friday' so I know it's from that and it will be reblogged!
Contrary to what the List page says, tomorrow's (or today's if you're Australian - are any of you Australian?) Fowl Friday theme is supposedly Foaly and Mulch, and their Extremely Sarcastic Relationship (tm)! Even if no content gets generated, I would like you to take this opportunity to remember how awesome these two are, the sarcasm they achieve effortlessly, and the inevitable fights. Also I would like to encourage someone to start a Mulch and/or Foaly roleplay blog, as we seem to be lacking in these (we have a Caballine, but no Foaly. How tragic...)!
To be completely honest, I really dislike Minerva. A lot. Scrolling down a Fowler blog, I remember reading something like 'we used to hate her and now we all love her'. Why does everyone like Minerva so much?
Okay. Right. Not entirely sure how to answer this, but I'll give it a go! Wall of text time, but I put it under a cut because it got pretty long. TL;DR is outside the cut because it got REALLY huge. Disclaimer: I do NOT speak for the whole Fowldom! This is my personal thoughts both for and against Minerva, and spectulation! Please reblog and add, or send in an ask/submit, if you've got commentary, corrections, or something I've missed :)
TL;DR (couldn't blame you!): She's got character faults (even more so as we're not reading from her POV) and needed more character development, but a lot of Fowlers seem to think she has potential as a character that never got explored. Some of the 'we-used-to-hate-her-but-now-we-love-her' stuff could be down to ship rivalry but is quite probably not; more of it might be because people started realising that a lot of the problems (or at least I think a lot - ymmv) with her are due to a lack of character development and because the story's not from her POV so shows her as worse than she possibly is. And of course there are probably other reasons, but I don't know them :)
Hope that cleared something up, and if anyone's got any comments on this subject feel free to reblog and add!
Personally, I like Minerva because she's got a different reason for kidnapping a fairy at a young age, because she also succeeds, and because she teases Artemis and shows him that he's not the only one able and willing to kidnap a fairy.
I like her because she's a clever human character, who has similar goals to Artemis in the first book, and who acts as a foil to show his character development. I found her to be a good antagonist because not only do her motives cross with Artemis's (good antagonist because she's an antagonist? Wow, I'm so good at phrasing!) but said motives are somewhat similar to Artemis's in the first book (where he was portrayed more as an antihero rather than an outright antagonist, or at least from my reading) - kidnap a fairy to gain from it (in Artemis's case, from the gold to find his father and restore the family fortune, in Minerva's case to study and get the Nobel Prize).
However, when I first read TLC, I didn't like Minerva that much - she came off as whiny and unable why it was such a bad idea to kidnap No1. She is, however, a twelve-year-old child (which possibly speaks for itself) who is (like Artemis) used to having a lot of money and being the cleverest around, so because her money and intelligence aren't unique in the plot (and because her plan doesn't work as well as it should have done, because Artemis interfered) she would be annoyed (if I've got any of this wrong, please tell me - as I said, it's been a while since I read TLC and I don't own a copy to check the facts!). Also, because the story isn't told from her point of view, she is shown as being in the wrong on points that would seem right if Minerva were the protagonist.
So far as I understand, several members of the Fowldom disliked Minerva at one point because they shipped Artemis/Holly (which seems to be the main ship) and saw Minerva as a competitor. I don't know how true that is, because I only joined Tumblr a couple of years back and never witnessed ship wars - the only things I've seen were some old posts on FanGathering.com from when I wasn't online, and I think a couple posts about someone's thoughts on that in the Artemis Fowl tag.
I think Minerva could be better if she'd got some more character development! She was only in one book, and she spent most of that as the twelve-year-old antagonist. There are obviously reasons to find Minerva annoying (I used to - I changed my mind about her on a reread when I realised that a) she was 12 and b) she desperately needed more time for development), but there are also reasons to find her a pretty good character. I don't know all the reasons and this is just an overly long view on it, but I hope at least some of it was some help. Even the TL;DR.
So going with this concept of the Fowl’s as Addams naturally I’m going to go with my babies Myles and Beck as Wednesday and Pugsley. Myles in his infinite creepiness dresses in dark clothes, looking very Great Expectations and lingers around corners listening to conversations. Beck’s near invulnerability and bounciness makes him an ideal test subject for his deranged twin (though Artemis does sometimes have to drag him away from the electrodes). They run a riot around around the house until Juliet (butler) sits on them to keep hem still. Butler is uncle Fester and Mulch is cousin It.
*sigh* I am going to France for a week. I don't know if there's WiFi, but it seems unlikely! If any Fowl Friday posts get made, I'll reblog after I'm back. Hope you guys all have a brilliant week!
Fowl Friday again! Except not really, as this week we're having Paradizo Friday instead
Quick reminder that tomorrow is Fowl Friday, and the theme is Minerva (and the Paradizo family)! I'm so sorry I haven't been organising properly for like a month, but hopefully this will be up-and-running again now :)
Artemis stole the TARDIS several times when he was seven years old. Later on, the Doctor asked him to help out with some scientific equations. In return he gave Artemis a tiny TARDIS, which he’s been growing in his bedroom ever since.
I will be away for the weekend and likely till Tuesday as well, so I can't reblog Fowl Friday stuff. Just so you know, I have an actual excuse for not being here :)
I have this headcanon where Artemis has a daughter, and she gets swept away by the doctor and becomes a companion but the Doctor gets the year wrong (kind of like Rose and her mom) and he brings her back and Artemis just
I have a bad feeling I missed last week. Sorry. Time travel's hard, in my defence... As an apology this one is extended over the weekend. Technically it is anyway, and I won't be here to reblog all of them till Monday, but... I honestly cannot think of anything else!
So anyway, this week's theme is WhoFowl! Think Foaly and the Doctor should totally meet? Crackship Donna with Briar Cudgeon? Think the People are related to the Time Lords (hello! That's me, by the way!)? Time to get fic-writin' and art-drawin' and tumblr-postin' and stuff!
PS, stuck for ideas? Then draw/write the Eleventh Doctor telling Artemis that the Randomosity T-Shirt is cool :D That would be a sight to see...
Posts for this week will also get reblogged to the WhoFowl blog thingy which desperately needs more post ideas and stuff ;)
I finished the Artemis Fowl series a couple weeks ago…why did it take me so long to try drawing these guys again? I love the cast of this series so muuuuch
while artemis as raven black hair, i see myles with black-brown hair.
when artemis is reading myles scoots up on his chest and reads along with him.
myles clings to artemis more so than beckett, but artemis loves spending time with both of them.
myles is very quiet and shy if you dont know him, but beckett loves being loud.
beckett likes finding the biggest bugs he can and leaves them as little surprises around the house. once he did so with a squirrel. angeline was not amused
