If this blog goes silent for a little while, it's because I've had a baby. (Or maybe not. Nursing means I am often stuck sitting down without much to do.)

Lots of people have their reality TV trash. For me, it's the Duggars and Bateses. I am fascinated by them. I'm not exactly a fan, but I don't like the mean-spiritedness of FSU Reddit. So here's a sideblog to keep track of the happenings of the fundie world.

You can expect some snark, some commentary, and lots of rooting for these folks to grow and do better.

Also, blog name change. "Zoo" is a little too dehumanizing. These are real people, not animals. "Museum" more accurately reflects my fascination with fundie families.

I just saw a post of Jill doing skin to skin with baby Jillie and I’m ready to call it a day at 8:45am because what the fuck? Parents doing skin to skin, absolutely! Siblings, I think less common but still acceptable! GRANDMA JILL??? Who has never (that we know of) done this with any of her other grandchildren? My skin is crawling

My conspiracy theory is she convinced Kaylee to be her surrogate and is going to claim New Jill as her 14th child 😭

Dangit, and I had JUST said that not even Kaylee would name her kid Jill Hill. Way to prove me wrong!

There are layers to how bad this name is. Jill Hill? Bad. Sucking up to JRod with a namesake? Bad. The nickname Jillie as a legal name? Bad. Sunshine??? So bad. And it's wildly different from Gideon's name, which isn't that grievous of a sin but it bothers me personally.

Jillie Sunshine Hill. The mind boggles.

Warden Bates married Kaybrie Patterson May 5th 2026.

They married 4 days before her dad passed so that he could walk her down the aisle.

As someone who lost her dad before my own wedding... I have no bad words.

They plan on another wedding come September 2026

Good Lord, they having kids fast. No Irish twins, but they have yet to have less than 18 months between babies.

Keeping up with Katie B.

1/16/26 - Katie Bates shared via Instagram feed that she had experienced a pregnancy loss. For reasons that are still completely unclear*, less than 48 hours after this post her husband Travis shared via stories that he had been unfaithful in their marriage.

1/19/26 - Katie posts on her IG feed about Travis's confession. Nearing the end of this carousel of text pictures Katies like hey this is awkward AF but I do still have #ads I have to post.

1/20/26 - Katie posts an ad for corner store pharamacy CVS

2/26/26 - Katie posts a "pack with me" for an intensive therapy retreat. I believe the program was 6 days and Reddit sleuths figured out the likely retreat and we were all pleasantly surprised to learn it was secular.

3/17/26 - Vague reel collage from Katie about healing and other emotions. This is only notable because all other posts had been mostly #ad mixed in with family vacation content.

5/16/26 - Katie announces they are moving. The caption references that the year has been heavy and impactful with "a lot of hard conversations, a lot of therapy, a lot of praying". She mentions private hardships as well as what's been shared and acknowledges that the move might not make sense to onlookers. She adds "it's not about running or pretending a new place magically fixes everything...life doesn't work like that."

5/20/26-ish - Despite trying to tell people they weren't going to get it, people still felt the need to slide into Katie's DMs telling her moving is stupid. Katie reveals via stories that she's had a falling out with "90%" of her family due to her addressing something that happened "throughout childhood".

5/22/26 - Via another stories post Katie adds that the majority of her family wasn't supportive about something she felt she needed to be honest about in order to heal. She indicates the reactions have been different from different family members, ranging from distance/silence and avoidance to attempting to minimize Katie's feelings.

Apparently Katie is going to be one to keep an eye on this year. Wish I didn't have to see so many ads for CVS of all places to do so.
