Google Smart Reply

I’m back. That’s right ladies and gentlemen my pen is poised and my brain is working. Granted that last statement regarding my brain might be a little far-fetched. However, I’m glad to be writing and helping The Future Glimpse again. This time around I will not only be writing but I am also a co-host on The Future Report podcast.  If you can try to contain your excitement about, not only, being able to read my articles, but also being able to hear me.  Let’s get started.

Now that the mushy stuff is out-of-the-way let’s talk tech.  Google is making headlines with Smart Reply.  What is this?  If you could send that question to me via email, I might not have to write the reply.  Google’s AI (artificial intelligence) technology is next level strong.  It can scan the content of your email(s) and give you a suggestive responses.  Great!  We, as a society, are too busy to form a reply to an email.  This can be handy for a quick on the go response.  Smart Reply is bring “lunch time quicky” to a whole new level.

Google is taking over the world!  Google seems to have their hands in pretty much everything, and will now help you answer your  emails.  This is a good thing because nobody has time to type.  With this new-found help, will the AI be able to understand sarcasm or jesting in the content?  Also, will the AI be able to give back the sarcasm or jesting?  Maybe it’s a good thing Smart Reply just gives you suggestions to the content.  According to Bloomberg Business, Smart Reply will choose the three best responses out of 20,000 possibilities.

Smart Reply technology could be endless.  But how does it all work?  Your guess is as good as mine.  Let me try to sum it up.  Jack Clark, the author of the article found in Bloomberg Business, tells us it’s through mathematics.  Yes, math.  So when you where in school, or maybe you still are, and thought you would never use math, think again.  Smart Reply scans the words and sentences into mathematical entities to help understand the content of the email.  Then presto your three responses.

To wrap this up in a pretty bow, AI is going to take over!  For the love of all that is good… I forgot what I was going to say.  The internet went down for a moment and I was not being fed any ideas.  It wasn’t important anyways.  The future is now.  Please do not blink or you will  miss who is replying for you.

Life Has Large Speed Bumps

Hacking, coughing, blood, can’t catch your breath.  These last three days have been scary, and incredibly stressful.    Whenever the weather changes Izzy has increased secretions that make her cough a lot and most often gag and vomit due to the hard coughing.  This little epsisode ended up being a bit more severe.  She would go into coughing fits where it seemed like she wouldn’t continue breathing.  Blood in her spitum was a common occurance.  Suctioning her was a full time job and she could barely sleeep due to the coughing and constant suctioning.  Izzy has been miserable.  Stephanie ended up taking her to see the doctor today and she has what amounts to a cold with bronchitis.  She is currently on two inhalers along with an oral steriod.  She has only been drinking Pedialyte mixed with juice and some honey because she tends to vomit up anything else.  Now that she is on the steriod she is doing much better though.  The steriod makes her kinda hyper.
