Pero okay na yun sayo, nakuha mo siya nung nagdala ka ng orchids. Gustong gusto niya yun eh.” She reminisced, grinning at the nervous Liam handing the plant to her nanny. He grinned at her. “Yes, kinilig ako.” He chuckled and hugged her tighter. “Ah, kaya pala. Well, maybe she likes me na because your parents does na, diba?” He smiled at her. “Kidding. But really, I’m hoping they like me already. Para wala na tayong dapat i-worry.” He laughed at the thought of him handling the plant to her nanny, but he shrugged it aside, instead he stared at her for a moment and then he suddenly kissed her in the lips.

She was about to point out that staring was rude when she felt his lips on hers. Her eyes automatically closed as she started to kiss him back, a hand cupping his cheek and her thumb gently caressing it.

She hesitated but she sat on the couch near the one he was in. “Uy, naaalala mo ba yung New Year last year?” She asked, trying to start a conversation.

He was taken aback with Ava’s question, but he tried his best not to make her notice by keeping his attention on his phone. How could he forget that time? That was the time where they met each other’s family — the time when everything was still okay and in place. “Yeah. Pero inaantok na ako eh. Ayoko nang pag-usapan yun.”

“Ah. Okay. Matulog ka na.” She whispered, an obvious frown on her face. She stood up and walked towards the door. “Just so you know, nag-usap lang kami. Nandun din sila Kris at Dhon, kahit itanong mo pa sakanila.” She said and went to her room.

He quickly stood up when she left but stopped at the door of the common room and spoke before she can go any further. “I don’t really care if nag-usap lang kayo or what. It’s fine, kahit kanino ka makapag-usap. Hindi naman kita mapipigilan eh. I’m just your boyfriend. Nothing more. But just so you know too„ I’ve been waiting for you this morning but I never saw you.”

She turned around, irritated “Anong gusto mong palabasin? Gosh, eh di sana nagtext ka. You’re always waiting, it wouldn’t hurt kung mag-exert ka ng konting effort.” She looked at him, a little bit offended, “By the way, I was on skype with my parents.”

I wanted to be with you, gusto kong masolo ka kasi alam kong wala ang roommates ko because of booze or partying till morning. Akala ko babalikan mo ako because you went to me nung nag-12 na at ginising-gising mo pa ako.” He bit his lip and stood there with hands on his short’s pocket. “Good for you, nakausap mo na SILA….let’s drop this. Happy New Year.” He said and made his way to his room, giving her a kiss in the forehead then walked past through her.

Ava sighed and resigned to her room as well. She sat on her bed, holding a glass canister full of colored papers. It was not a secret that Ava likes to do sweet little surprises for Liam during special occasions. She exited her room and headed for his, wondering if he ever thought of coming to her, if he was now asleep or if he was still waiting for her.

He grabbed the box that was sitting on his drawer for months now, it was meant to be his anniversary gift for Ava, but then he didn’t have the chance to give it to her since they were too busy. The box contained a magic rose that turns its color by the holder’s mood and never withers. He stood up and fixed himself, deciding to go to her room, but was surprised when he saw her heading to his room too.

Ava gasped when he saw Liam going towards her direction but she still took small steps until they met halfway. She held the sleeve of his hoodie between her fingers while the other one was holding the canister. “I…hindi ako nakapunta sayo kasi tinapos ko pa ito.” She explained and gave it to Liam. Written on the papers were the memories they shared throughout their relationship. "Wow, ang effort naman nito, Boss. Hmmm," he picked up a paper and opened it, then read it. "Do you remember when you kidnapped me that one midnight? I thought you were bored, because I am, so I gave it a go. But the thing you did surprised me. You amazed me with that promise ring, and that mock wedding. And even though it’s just a mock one, we both made promises to make it come true. I’m looking forward to fulfill it with you, Boss. I really do."
