Excuse me there, but yeah, no news is good news, Ma always says! It’s been pretty quiet around here for a long while. Bella’s going into her last year of high school, and I’ve been working less hours at the hospital lately. Keep the old ticker strong, you know? But hopefully you have a great time celebrating whatever holidays you might have.

And if you ever need help, I’m always here.

I heard you've been dealing with Fat Finger Syndrome since the hospital update screwed you over. Maybe you should invest in a stylus dude.

As for fat finger syndrome... I've got fat everything syndrome! You ever fuckin deal with being seven and a half feet tall, and weigh over three hundred pounds, on a low weight day!

Probably not...but uh...yeah, I got a stylus for myself.

Went to the Judaica store yesterday after work, and got myself a little custom stylus topped with a Star of David!

As someone who has only heard of lox, could you please describe it?

[Eli came into his office and settled onto the couch.]

Eli: ...so Caddy, Ma was kind of irritated that we'd eaten all the bagels this morning, but she actually liked it on toast.

Eli: As for lox? That's cold smoked salmon, usually freshly made in Waterfall. It's soft, salty, kinda an...oh what's it called again? Seyveri? Vi ton ir zogn az in english vider? [Savory? How do you say that in English again?]

Eli: Now I like myself, an everything bagel, with a nice thick schmear of cream cheese, topped with a few slices of lox, and then topped with thinly sliced red onions and some capers!

Eli: Me and Abba tend to eat about, oh, three or four regular sized bagels? Which because both of us wanted to have bagels with lox...it uh, left no bagels for Ma this morning. She'll have hers with garden vegetable cream cheese and lox...no onions or capers. But to to each their own, yeah?

Eli: There was no bagels in the house, so I made do with the kid's white bread, with the schmear of cream cheese and lox, when I made Ma's usual 'bagel' this morning before work.

Eli: Also, I finally got the damn Wi-Fi working on my tablet, thank you son, and I can kvetch about my life again, if anyone cares.

Will you or Eddie wear a dress for the wedding?

Ah, we've been talking about it, and honestly, although Eddie is entertaining the idea of wearing a dress, I'm debating it myself!

Despite being Jewish, us monsters, we don't really hold to that strict of rules. Well, clothing rules at least. So, eh, what's it called again? Crossdressing? Not really looked down upon actually.

Eli: *He set his second onigiri down, and chuckled softly.* Heh, you know I’ve always wondered how his mother and her son had such…different and unique accents. I mean, it does make sense, with so many different monsters with so many different lines of life down here, but I guess it makes sense. Such a melting pot, things are bound to change, just like the seasons. Sorry…I forget, have either of you two seen the Surface before?

Eddie: Oh, Elihu dear… *He gently patted Eli on his arm.*

Eli: It’s alright, Eddie, I just get a little wistful I guess, when I remember things that our children may not ever get to see in their lifetime. It would be so nice, though, wouldn’t it? And Jennifer, no one is too young to be eccentric, I consider that quite a nice term of endearment for Caddy. But I can’t exactly speak for him of course. Heheh, I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts picking up on Yiddish from me. I normally call Eddie or Ma or Abba during my break times, and I’m just chattering away in Yiddish to them all.

Eddie: Heh, it helps that I’m multilingual of course, same with Belladonna. In our house, we rarely speak English anymore. I’m having to remember to teach Shayna English, can you believe that?

Hellany: “Well, my species actually lived in caves before other monsters were sent to Mt. Ebott - it’s why we’re born without Lightsight. Jen has seen the Surface I think, but it’s been a very, very long time… ”

Jennifer: “Yeah, I have…. it’s been too long for me to remember very much in detail, but I do remember the seasons! The real seasons, where nothin’ ever stayed the same for too long… not like when the sun hits New Home’s side of the mountain an’ you get a blast of humid air into the city… ” “But that’s so cute about little Shayna! I’m sure she’ll pick up English from all over the place - babies that age are always learnin’ something - but an extra language is always a good talkin’ point!”

“I’m not sure how Caddy’s Gaelic is - he’s not used it since, well, you know. But he still has his father’s Irish accent in there somewhere, and he’s picked up Wingdings from Dr. Gaster like it’s nothin’! I think his natural affinity for magic probably helped, since you kinda need it and your voice to speak it… ” “But look at me, goin’ on like this! We should at least start on our appetizers, before the warm stuff gets cold an’ the cold stuff gets warm… ”

Eddie: You are right about that Jennifer. Although I know Eli’s gotten a bit ahead of all of us~

Eli: *He had drank about half the glass of wine, and started drinking the water he brought over as well.* Heh, I even made sure to get a bit of everything that I liked up there. I talked with Asuko, the owner’s grandchild, and you know they thanked me again, even though surely it wasn’t just me, helping them out.

Eddie: Oh! And I think Asuko will be coming out with the main entree in just a bit, Bubbala. They’d said it would only take about…thirty minutes from now, I believe?

Eli: Ah, their peking duck, is absolutely soul-warming, I tell you! Crispy skin, juicy delicate meat, and wonderful sides to go with it.

Eddie: Eli, I swear you probably dream of that peking duck, don’t you? *He laughed softly, grinning around his glass of whiskey at Eli.*

Eli: Not as much as I dream about you, dear. Ah…but it’s hard to get anything past you, being able to read minds and such.

Eddie: Elihu! Please, I don’t…heheh…you both don’t need to worry about my…erm…powers, I wouldn’t use them without consent of course just so you know!

Jennifer: “Peking duck sounds wonderful - and you don’t need to worry about anythin’ like that, Eddie. We’ve been around long enough that no matter how weird someone thinks they are, chances are we’ve seen weirder.”

Hellany: “We’ve dealt with clients of all shapes and sizes, including those who communicate with Thoughtspeech.” Jennifer: “So if a song gets stuck in my head or something, I’ll step out and wash my ‘hands’. It drives me crazy enough, specially when the same verse is on repeat. But trust me, it doesn’t bother us in the least!”

Hellany: “Yes, exactly… I know we haven’t really been in touch since Gyftmas, but we do consider both of you our friends. You’ve been very kind, and welcoming to us.”

Eli: Thank you both so much, I mean...heh, it can be a bit hard with a mug like mine, to make any friends down here, always has been. Combining that with my stature? I've gotten more stares in my lifetime, then I care to count.

Eddie: But, yes, we both consider you to be our friends as well. And it was so kind of your son to watch our daughters tonight, we've all needed this night together, haven't we?

Eli: *He grinned softly, shaking his head.* Ah, it's so nice to not have nurses bugging me to schlep things all over the place or have patients asking me questions over and over again that I've already answered. I mean, they can't help it, and of course I'll answer them, but there are times where I just simply have to write it down for them...sorry I just keep going on and on sometimes.

Eddie: Elihu...though to be honest, they've probably got just as many horror stories about the seamstress business too! But, I think I see Asuko coming over with the peking duck!

Asuko: Here is our family's most famous Gently Roasted Peking Duck! With grilled tomatoes, roasted potatoes and green onions on the side. The alchemy arrays were hand-drawn by my great-grandparent themselves, and we all hope you enjoy it!

*Eli had left the table, going to get the bottles for the Hotland Whiskey and the blackberry wine, leaving Edmund with both Jennifer and Hellany.

Eddie: Oh, there’s an ask. Hmm…why wouldn’t be getting along well? It’s just nice to spend time out of the house for once, and not going to the store, or to the Vivarium. It’s good to be away from the piano, and honestly…although I feel a bit like a bad mother saying this, it’s nice to get away from the kids for a bit actually!

Eddie: Hellany, Jennifer, you both understand, don’t you?

Hellany: “Oh, believe us, Eddie, we really do. We don’t blame you at all.”

Jennifer: “Caddy’s long since grown up, but runnin’ the shop’s like havin’ another baby… an’ as much as we love it like one, it’s just as much hard work.” Hellany: “Unlike some tailors, we try not to turn anyone away, regardless of how much G they earn… but the downside of that is we seem to spend all our free time looking for discount supplies and roll-ends.”

Jennifer: “That’s the last few metres of fabric left on a bulk roll. Maybe good for only one thing, but that one thing could mean the world to a monster with a body shape that doesn’t match the ‘off-the-rack’ biped or quadruped designs… ” Hellany: “So don’t feel like you’re a bad mother; I can sense that you needed this. In fact, we all needed this.”

Jennifer: “Yeah, Hellany doesn’t have what the Differently-Sighted community call ‘Lightsight’, but she can probably ‘see’ the stress comin’ off our Souls like steam off the buffet! So let’s just live a little tonight - even if two of us are technically Undead!”

*Eli came back to the table, setting down the bottle of whiskey, and the two glasses of wine. And he had a plate of food floating beside him as he settled down beside Eddie.

Eddie: You are something else, Elihu. You’ve already gotten a plate of food?

Eli: Hey, I’m pretty hungry, I couldn’t help myself~ But I got ourselves some glasses of wine, and the bottle of whiskey. I’ll pour us some, alright?

Eddie: And getting back to what you said, Jennifer, you are absolutely correct! We’ll live a little, and enjoy a bloody good evening together, won’t we?

*Eli handed the glass of Blackberry Wine to Jennifer and then poured a glass of Hotland Whiskey for Hellany.

Eli: Now that, sounds wonderful, Eddie. I hope the girls are doing alright…

Eddie: Elihu, don’t worry about the girls. They’re in capable hands with Gaster and Caddy. And goodness forbid if something did happen, I trust Belladonna with watching Shayna completely. So don’t worry about them, let’s just have a nice night out, without you completely kvetching about the kids the entire time, please?

Eddie: *He cleared his throat slightly, and smiled at them both.* So, I know you both probably don’t want to talk shop and such, and I hate to put myself out there, but if you needed someone to play at your wedding, you know I’m available~

Jennifer: “Aw, Eddie! You really are too kind! We’re, uh, plannin’ on keepin’ things low-key for our reception, an’ then celebratin’ with my extended family at our next reunion… bein’ a Ghost, I have a really, really extended family, so it can get a little crazy… “

Hellany: "Which is they’ll be attending through an Undernet live stream, as will Dr. Gaster’s relatives in Snowdin. The only people we’re inviting in person are a few of our close friends, Caddy and his family, your family of course, Seamus’ sister and her child.” Jennifer: “But if you’d play for us at the ceremony, you could consider that your weddin’ gift! And we’d make sure you get a good meal, once we’ve picked a place to hold the reception dinner… ” * Hellany helps Jennifer stand up, and they head towards the buffet, continuing their conversation… Jennifer: “So meat and dairy are separate, huh? And the plates are color-coded too… I can help you with that, hun - meat or fish? They have some vegetarian stuff too, with tofu and- oh, they have rangoons with salmon!”

Hellany: “Definitely fish, then! And I think Eli was eating sushi - if they have something like a shaggy dog roll, I’ll take that.” Jennifer: “Well if you don’t mind ‘whitefish surimi crescents’ instead of shrimp, then absolutely! Your religion means you don’t eat shellfish, right Eddie? No pork, no shrimp?”

Eddie: *He chuckled quietly, a soft smile across his face as he picked up a plate labeled 'Milchig'.* Well, actually that would be more Elihu's ideal, I would guess. I am not exactly...religious? If you understand? But I do follow the rules of kashrut, and the girls eat according to those rules as well. So...maybe it all works out in the end I guess? It's a bit hard to truly explain.

Eddie: *Picking up things from the milchig part of the buffet he started humming the song "I've Grown Accustomed To His Face" for a moment.* Sometimes I get a bit tired of fish all the time, and I have found myself occasionally going to one of the barbeque restaurants out here in New Home a few times. But it seems that with the longer I've been with Elihu, the less I would want to eat things that aren't kosher, actually. I've heard, that when two people are so in love with each other, you start to pick up on other's...mannerisms, and style of speaking, sometimes even down to the clothing that you wear. You are still your own person, but you tend to...blend very well together, even if you are two very different people originally.

I raised the boys from birth, so I’m well-acquainted with the, eh, importance of physical contact.”

Caddy: “We don’t blame you at all for the ‘new parent jitters’, either. G probably remembers how exhausted I made myself, worrying if I was doing my best for our boys. But we promise we’ll take good care of the girls - and you probably shouldn’t leave your taxi waiting much longer!” Gaster: “You have fun on your night out, and we’ll have fun with our night in… ”

Eli: Thanks again. This’ll be a great night out.

Eddie: Oh! That’s right, thank you, Caddy. We’ll get out the way then! *He went over to the playpen and gave Shayna a sweet kiss on her forehead.* Now you be good for Uncle Gaster and Untie Caddy, my sweet stonybones~

*Eli and Eddie then left in the cab, to head to Shang Chai over in New Home. After the drive, they came inside and went to get a table.*

Eli: Look at the spread today, Bubbala! It all looks lovely~

Eddie: Alright, big boy. Why don’t you go ahead and see if Jennifer and Hellany are here already? I’ll double check on the special order I’d placed a few days ago, and get a drink for us.

* As Eddie goes to talk to someone, Eli feels a tap on his back… Jennifer: “Hi Eli! Hope we didn’t scare ya too bad!” Hellany: “I sensed your magic as soon as you came in - you both give off a very distinct Green, especially Eddie. Not many monsters have a light hue like that.”

Jennifer: “Hah, more like I was so busy eyein’ up the buffet that my blind fiancee spotted you first - but we got a nice table! They even adjusted the height so we can all sit together!”

* Jennifer and Hellany are now open for questions! (Caddy, G and the boys are also still open!)

Eli: Oh! No, you didn’t scare me at all, and that’s wonderful, Jennifer! I know they’ve got different sized chairs here, been going here for years. Eddie’s taking care of something for us, and he’ll be back in just a few minutes probably.

Eddie: Hello there, Jennifer and Hellany! It’s a pleasure to see you again! They said they’ll bring over the main dish in about ten minutes. I’ve got myself some cinnamon whiskey, and that buffet is looking splendid. Why don’t we head over to the table?

Jennifer: “Well, you’re looking as dapper as ever, Eddie - the only way you could top that is if you got one of our designs! HA! I’m kidding, of course, it’s great to see you again.“

Hellany: “Likewise - and is that Hotland Whiskey? If it is, I’ll have one too… an old friend owns the distillery, and it saves the trouble of having Jen read me the whole drinks menu… ” Jennifer: “Aw, c’mon, you know I don’t mind doin’ that, puddin’. Remember back in college, when I stayed up all night readin’ from that business studies textbook? After you spilled coffee on your braille copy?”

Hellany: “How could I forget… that was the weekend before midterms, too… but, uh, you said you ordered an entree for the table? That’s very kind of you both, but I hope you don’t mind us covering half the bill regardless… ” Jennifer: “We know these buffet places charge based on height, so it only seems fair.”

Eli: Oh you really don't have too, but thank you so much. I had planned to pay for the whole bill, but please, don't pay more than you have to.

Eddie: Elihu, dear, you are sometimes too generous I swear. Let them help if they want too. It's not a crime to let others help you, you know Bubbie.

Eli: Ed, I'm a generous kind of guy, it's how I was raised. Now, we've gotten a beautiful shareable entree of Peking Duck, and we've got full use of their buffet too. I'll go and get you some of the Hotland Whiskey, alright? Jennifer, anything you'd like maybe? I don't mind getting it. I'm going to get myself a glass of blackberry wine.

Eddie: Heh, you could just bring the bottle back with you~ *He snickered softly, shaking his head.* I'm sorry, just a bit of dry humor.

Eddie: Well, I would make sure that you don't give Shayna any food on well...ceramic or glass plates perhaps? She's gotten her strength from Elihu it seems. I know that Bella doesn't really care for oatmeal or soups, she had to eat a lot of that in the orphanage growing up. Though, to be honest she'll probably eat anything you give her.

Eli: And don't worry about yourself though, Caddy! Shayna knows not to hit anyone in the face, and it's just she gets a bit too excited about mealtime. She's a growing girl, and she'll be wonderful for you, I'm sure.
