Adolescence- the teen world is of utmost importance, especially for our female fraternity. From here on, they embark upon a riveting journey of Estrogen and Progesterone leading to a lot of physical and mental changes. The new world is full of adventure, gushing hormones, challenges and issues. One of the physiological change - worth to be mentioned is Vaginal Discharge or Secretion.
Being a gynaecologist👩⚕, a common complaint that I come across in this age group is of Vaginal discharge- this distressing 😓slimy, drippy and wet feeling commonly termed as Leucorrohea. As, I have mentioned before that vaginal discharge is physiological. Then why it is considered troublesome??
Now, it's time to decode the basics. What ❓ is Physiological discharge ❓
- A little amount of vaginal secretion is natural, should be sufficient enough to lubricate the vaginal surface
-natural secretion vary according to the menstrual cycle: in first half it is thin & watery, in second half it is thick and profuse
-it should be free from odour, pain, itching, irritation and not to be accompanied by backache
What ❓ is Pathological ❓
-copious in amount, with odour, pain, backache, greenish yellow in colour, along with itching perineum, burning 🔥urination and backache

In this era of science and technology marvels - where womenfolk is setting milestones in every sector, still a vast proportion of the fraternity feels embarrassed, takes a lot of courage to voice their issue regarding INTIMATE HYGIENE. -First of all learn to differentiate between physiological and pathological discharge.
-Vaginal pH is very delicate. So don't apply any soap or dettol in that area: water 💧💦 is enough for the purpose, if required go for an intimate wash after proper consultation.
OPT A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
-Take bath daily, keep your undergarments clean : use airy and comfortable undergarments.
-Eat balanced diet
: Include coriander☘, bananas 🍌and vitamin B&C rich food items🍊🍋🍓🍒🥭
: Drink plenty of water🥛
: Avoid spicy and oily meals🌮🍕🥪🍔
