With fragmented potion recipes floating around in Kizzie’s head, she trudged her way back into the common room. The scent of stale paper and dust wafting around the library had made her head hurt and she took that as a sign to quit studying for the night.
She had barely walked into the common room when she spotted a body up in the rounded window. her head briefly tilted to the side and then she sighed. “For someone who’s chronically accident prone you’d think you’d learn not to sit all the way up there,” she commented lightly while approaching. “Anything interesting catch your eye? A pretty little Gryffindor girl, perhaps?”
Fletcher turned around to face the voice, a smile of recognition on his face. “Jokes on you, all of these surfaces are padded. It will hurt, but at least I won’t break anything. I actually need my hands and feet for OWLs, you see.” He chuckled, looking at her.
“Want me to come down? I actually had a really nice view of reflection.” At the comment about Evie, he froze a little. After his encounter with Randall, Fletcher was so unsure about things. He wasn’t sure where to begin with it though. “Nah, no pretty girls in my future, for sure.”

Up by the edge, Fletcher contemplated a lot of things. There were a lot of things on his mind, a beautiful confusion just rushing through the noggin.
Donald and Anette were sitting beside him, snuggling as sleep settled in their minds. Sitting at the edge of the window of the common room, Fletcher was craving more than the company of his furry friends.
He wanted human company.

“Fletcher Garrod, I swear to all that is good, if we lose at this damn obstacle course, I will conspire with Kizzie to execute the worst possible punishment.” It had been a stressful day for Evie. Competitive activities had always gotten her worked up and slightly over-aggressive. She cursed out a judge earlier in the freeze tag area, so her blood was already heated upon entering the Blind Wizard’s Bluff with Fletcher. She heard no one had been able to complete it all day, and she was determined to be that first person.
“Okay, focus on my voice. Only my voice.” She eyed her friend in his blindfold. “And try not to hurt yourself. I mean, I know it goes against the very nature of Fletcher Garrod, but please try not to hurt yourself.” She froze, contradicting herself once more. “Unless it is required to complete the course. Then you are required to comply.”
The current blindfold across Fletcher’s field of vision had him confused. But at least it kept the sun out of his eyes, and that worked beautifully. Evie’s threats made him smile, the corners of his mouth tugged into a smirk. Blind Wizard’s Bluff sounded fun, but given his track record for the day so far, he was a little hesitant about it.
But he trusted Evie. Her warnings were acknowledged with a nod. “Got it. No hurting myself, and only listening to you. Understood.” Licking his lips tensely, he turned around to follow her voice. “Where exactly are we, by the way?”
You are an asshole maybe 75% of the time. Not saying it’s a bad thing, and I love you either way
My Hufflepuff friend
Curious to see how the boy would proceed, Randall only allowed one eye to pop up from above the paper, just in time to see the Hufflepuff’s fingers reaching for his schnoz. Much like a snake does with a mouse, Randall decided to play with his prey.
He stood up and walked briskly up to Fletcher, half expecting him to flinch. Without a word, he reached up and rubbed the spot he had just been fiddling with. “Damaged are we, Garrod? Such a shame, when I let my anger pilot my flesh. I’m not typically so…aggressive.” Randall’s hand moved down from the boy’s nose, brushed his jawline, and crawled down his torso, removed just before he hit waistline.
Fletcher wasn’t really up for another fight. It was just so draining; with everything going on, he was just so tired. But then Randall reached out to touch his face. Of course the Hufflepuff flinched; it was unexpected contact, and the older boy’s hand was surprisingly gentle. He didn’t break eye contact, as his skin burst into goosebumps where his hand trailed and he had swallow whatever hesitation was starting to overcome.
He didn’t know how to react. Hell, he didn’t even know what to think of this...sudden contact. But Randall apologized, and it was only fair that Fletcher did too. “It’s okay...I got a little worked up about things too. I’m...I apologize for my actions.”
Perfect Fit (fletcher&evie)
“What, we add in at the end, ‘Cuteness cred Fletcher Garrod?’” Evie giggled and rolled her eyes. “Plus, I’m not exactly the kind of person to be involved in ‘cute anniversary stories.’ I’m much too working class for anything proper and romantic like that.” Evie gave him “the look” at his “bright” idea. “Do I seem the person to enjoy or even be good at speed dating?”
“I dunno Evie, be more descriptive. Like, ‘I owe my first born to Fletcher Garrod because he helped me find my soulmate’ or something. You never know unless you try it, though. Love happens literally anywhere. My parents fell in love when mom visited Diagon Alley for the first time with Aunt Mina. Love happens anywhere, you just need to keep yourself open to receive it.” Fletcher was a hopeless romantic, and he believed in all the sappy crap they say about love. “I could give you a script? A set of questions?”
“BLOODY HELL!”
“Holy shit Angelos!”
Perfect Fit (fletcher&evie)
Evie couldn’t help but giggle at Fletcher’s description of his house lifewith Riley and Kizzie and all them. She was slightly jealous of it, actually. They were all so close and loved one another and really cared for each other. Sure she was rather close with Fletcher and Kizzie was quickly becoming a wonderful ally, but she wasn’t a part of the “family.” “Well, that’s on you, innit, Fletch? You’ve go’a arrange a meet-up of sorts. You’d be like a matchmaker. Maybe then I could be a part of your little house, there.”
“You’re already part of our house man. It’s in our hearts.” Fletcher thumped his chest twice as a sign. “Besides, wouldn’t it be lovely if you were dating one of my friends? Although, I want fifty percent of the credit on those cute anniversary stories.” He laughed, grinning at her. Evie was a great person, and he genuinely liked her company, for real. How he had not discovered her sooner was a wonder really. “I really must. Maybe arrange a speed date of sorts.”
Xanthe made her way to the sink while she listened and washed her hands while she responded, “Well I don’t know about sprinkles that spell things but I promise it’ll taste good.” Xanthe smiled and dried her hands, “We’ll follow the brownie mix box. So can you put the mix, eggs, oil, and water in the bowl? I’m going to make the cream cheese filler. So, tell me about yourself!”
“I can do that much, yeah.” Besides, how wrong could anyone go with mixing right? Fletcher thought to himself while he opened the boxes. “Oh...I’m Fletcher. Fifth year Hufflepuff, animal enthusiast and...does Aunt Mina keep a scoreboard in her office? Because I’m like her top visitor. I believe it’s the way of the universe, always keeping me on my toes, you know.”
“Oh? Who’s Anette?” she asked, glossing over the brief worry about what they’d do when the adorable little duckling became just a full grown duck. “I’ve been good, keeping busy helping some of your classmates with revisions, and of course Prefect duties,” she said vaguely, listing off the activities she’d been using to distract herself from thinking of darker matters. As that crossed her mind, she reflected on whether there was anything of use she could get from Fletcher—he was a Hufflepuff, after all, and two of the victims were in that House. She had no way of angling a regular chat to get information though, if she even knew what information to get… She realized she’d rather drifted off, and her head snapped up to pay attention to him again. “Sorry. Um, what about you?”
“Oh! I see you haven’t met her! I’m sorry, it’s just that I’ve had so many people asking me to keep her quiet sometimes, I forget that she’s relatively new. She’s a Pygmy Puff. But ye big and really bouncy. And playful. She likes chairs a lot.” Fletcher was a like a proud parent, boasting of his child’s first potty training session. But he listened to Grace, and listened intently. It was something Fletcher did; worry about people. Ever since the past few months, things were a little...not so happy around the castle. And like Isaac and Kizzie, Fletcher couldn’t help but worry for people. “Sounds like you’ve been...” When he realised she wasn’t exactly listening, the fifth year shook his head. “Oh don’t worry about that. Something’s on your mind, mind sharing it? There’s nothing a good talk can’t solve.”
Foresight In a Bottle
STEVIE & FLETCHER
The bump did make Stevie nervous, and he swivelled on his chair while clutched the backing of it. “Hel-”he began to speak as the other spoke. The voice was vaguely familiar, and Stevie turned to his table quick enough to grab his wand and point it at the boy. “Remarkable.”he agreed with the other boy, his head cocking to the side a touch as he studied the other boy, and then licking his lips. “What are you doing here? Exactly?”he inquired, standing and promptly blocking the bottle of fire whiskey.
“I was actually here to look at crystal balls. Professor Tyler does believe it’s kinda zen to look at them, like an exercise in grounding. She also kinda allows me in when there aren’t any extra students around who actually need them...so I think I should be going...?” Fletcher’s eyes were starting to adjust to the dim place, and it looked like the prefect was holding on to the chair too tight. It was good to know that he wasn’t the only one who got scared of the bump; it was going to bruise and he would never hear the end of it from Aunt Mina. Besides, wasn’t being honest the best way to go, always? So that’s what he did. “Do you have extra credit homework? Or something? I can come back some other time. Actually, I think---”
“For someone with such a handsome face, you sure do ruin it when you open that mouth of yours.” Randall flipped the page, still refraining from actually looking at Fletcher. “You may stay I suppose. If you keep that tongue in check. As in, trapped inside your mouth.”
“My tongue will stay where it needs to stay.” Fletcher shrugged, setting up his parchment and ink well, as he tried searching for his quill. Briefly wondering why Randall wouldn’t exactly look at him, the Hufflepuff touched his nose for an instant. It was good as new, but if he stroked it at the right spot, there was a place where it wasn’t quite right. Like a momento from the moment or something. Catching himself staring absently at Randall’s newspaper, he quickly averted his gaze and straightened up.
“That’s so sweet! I’m sure she appreciates it!” Xanthe said, “Well, I’ve just set the preheat on the oven, and pulled out the ingredients. So we’ll wash up and use this bowl for the brownie mix. It’s going to be our cauldron, and this bowl for the gooey cream cheese inside, but really the secret is the chocolate chips! If done right, they should melt in your mouth!”
“Okay, this cake sounds heavenly. Josh makes these lovely cupcakes, and sometimes the sprinkles spell out things and I think it’s the best really. And they are gooey and just really delish.” Fletcher nodded, watching her get to work. “You’re promising a lot of things here! What can I do?”
