INTRO POST

This is a digital altar I started when I was 16 and unable to have a physical one. I still don't have a physical one (bad economy, worse parents) and know that I'm in school, I actually know how to do academic research (and have the money to buy books rather than trying to find PDFs), so I would like to sort of restart this blog. I probably won't be super active, but if you have any pressing questions for me, my main blog is @not-deadsummer and I'm much more active over there.

A Simple Prayer to Hermes for Safe Travels

Messenger of the Heavens,

Traveler of Gods,

To you I pray.

May you walk alongside me as i carry on my way.

Step by step along my path, I ask for your watchful eye.

Should I be forewarned, send a message from the sky.

Winged Wanderer, I ask for your grace,

Shroud me in protection as I travel place to place.

Open the curtains and let some sun into your room? Apollo

Have a good time with friends? Dionysus

Spend time with family? Hera

You can worship the gods by doing everyday tasks and just looking after yourself, all they want is to see you happy.

Hear me, Jove's daughter, celebrated queen,

Bacchian and Titan, of a noble mien:

In darts rejoicing and on all to shine,

Torch-bearing Goddess, Dictynna divine;

O'er births presiding, and thyself a maid,

Dissolver of the zone and wrinkl'd care,

Fierce huntress, glorying in the Sylvan war:

Swift in the course, in dreadful arrows skill'd,

Wandering by night, rejoicing in the field:

Of manly form, erect, of bounteous mind,

Immortal, earthly, bane of monsters fell,

'Tis thine; blest maid, on woody hills to dwell:

Foe of the stag, whom woods and dogs delight,

Dread guardian Goddess, with benignant mind

Auspicious, come to mystic rites inclin'd

Over the Phlegrean giants, roused to ire,

Thy coursers driving, with destruction dire.

Sprung from the head of Jove, of splendid mien,

With supplicating voice both night and day,

And in my latest hour, give peace and health,

Propitious times, and necessary wealth,

Aphrodite who cries for the people who hurt themselves because self love is love too

Artemis who doesn’t hunt animals anymore (humans do it enough) She now walks in clubs looking to hunt the real animal

Athena who donates hundreds of books to local libraries and schools

Apollo who watches all street musicians hoping their talents can get them a little money (He gives more than a little)

Dionysus who watches over everyone’s drinks at the bar making sure they stay safe

Zeus who makes it rain for the couples that just want to frolic and dance and kiss in the rain

Hera who donates to woman’s and SA survivors shelters

Ares who is at the forefront of every protest because those are battles too

Hestia who holds and keeps thousands of secrets so the ones who whispered them into flame don’t have to

Hades who let’s families get one last goodbye to a loved one before they die

Persephone who personally makes sure that the ones taken too early feel safe and secure in the Underworld

Demeter who gives Her best crops to food banks and homeless shelters

Hecate who is a street magician and does actual magical for the kids

Poseidon who finds the best seashells and leaves them on the beach for someone to find and treasure

the Gods aren’t gone they ARE the little things in life

Xenia means you help your neighbours escape immigration police

Xenia means you feed, house, and respect the homeless, regardless of what got them there

Xenia means you do the work to unlearn racism, misogyny, homophobia, ableism and transphobia

Xenia means (with obvious exceptions) you treat criminals and felons as human beings worthy of dignity and respect

Xenia means you make your environments less overstimulating if you know you’ll be with an autistic person

Xenia means Fuck the police

Xenia means you talk to the elderly neighbour who’s living on their own, and has nobody in their life

Xenia means respecting your trans friends identity even when they’re not present

You can find Aphrodite when you gush over romcoms. You can find Zeus when the rain pours and soaks your hair. You can find Hera when you're loyal to your friends and partners. You can find Ares when you argue with your parents over the causes you believe in. You can find Apollo when the sun caresses your cheek.

The gods are everywhere—you just need to know where to look.
