ILVERMORNY HEADCANONS | Christmas Edition

Everyone REALLY loves Christmas. Its most celebrated holiday in the school right before Halloween and Thanksgiving

Along with Christmas, the school also celebrates other religious holidays such as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa

The hallways are decorated with Christmas lights and small Christmas trees.

Much like Hogwarts, the main hall’s ceiling is bewitched to resemble a snowy morning and night sky. A snowstorm takes place during exams.

An 80 feet tall Christmas tree can be found near the main entrance to the school with a floating and spinning star at the top. The tree is adorned with many decorations and sparkling with candles and tiny icicles.

Mini Christmas trees are in every classroom.

Everlasting candles glowed from inside the helmets of suits of armor.

Great bunches of mistletoe had been hung at intervals along the corridors. Some mistletoe even grow in random places under unsuspecting students.

Wampus and Thunderbird students having competitive snowball fights. Wampus students always takes it way to seriously.

Pukwudgie students baking cookies and making gingerbread houses all day.

Horned Serpent students reading holiday stories by the fireplace with hot chocolate by their side. 

Students bewitching snowmen to come alive and scare first years... and getting in trouble for it afterwards.

UGLY SWEATER PARTIES with really bad eggnog.

Seventh and sixth years adding alcohol to their eggnog and putting weed in their brownies and cookies.

Students with family problems can request to stay on school grounds for the holidays where personal gifts from teachers and the headmaster can be given to them.

Secret Santa hosted by House Head Boy and Girl of each house.

Those who can't travel back home for Christmas can have their gifts sent to the campus free of charge.

All first years are assigned their own pukwudgie whom they must get a gift for.

It always snows on Christmas day and there is always a snowstorm a week before.

The Headmaster dresses up as Santa Clause for the first years (he has to stay in the suit until New Year's Eve).

The pukwudgies dress as elves (which they don't like doing but do so anyways).

There is so much candy. Like a lot. Students find chocolate and candy canes in the most random places like the bathroom or in their socks.

ILVERMORNY HEADCANONS | part one

Ilvermorny castle is much larger than Hogwarts castle since they take in far more students.

The school is bewitched to look much smaller on the outside then what it appears on the inside

As of the end of 2020 around 1,500 students are attending Ilvermorny

There are more witches than wizards, it's very common that in a pair of siblings the girl would have magical abilities and the boy would not.

There are more students in Wampus house than any other house.

The American wizarding world is far more diverse than any other wizarding school. Accepting of all no matter blood status. however, most of their discourse and divisiveness comes from wizarding politics and sports.

Ilvermorny has a massive and vibrate college town located near the castle. The small village is known as Ilvercroft village.

Only Ilvermorny third years and up are allowed weekend trips to the town

Local businesses are run by alumni that allow students to take part-time or summer jobs. usually, payments are a form of extra credit of actual money.

Deep within the wallowing woods is a student-made cinema created by previous alumni years before. every few months movies nights are hosted by the Pukwudgie house that shows a mix of classic movies (both Wizarding and No-Maj)

Unlike Hogwarts, Ilvermorny students don't use quills in the 21st century, instead just normal number 2 pencils and fountain pens for tests and exams.

Ilvercroft village has school spirit shops that sell everything from house shirts and school mascot plushies (that obviously can move and interact with its owner) as well as lettermen jackets, scarves, hats, etc.

House fraternization is much more acceptable, accept during competition between houses.

Wampus house seems to be the most isolated ilvermorny house normal seen sticking with their own.

Wampus house is also the house with the most school spirit

Ilvermorny don’t have quidditch instead they have quodpot. which is a variant of quidditch and is the most popular wizarding game in the US.

Each house has its own quodpot team with a captain and co-captain along with nine other players on a team.

Quodpot in the wizarding world of America is equivalent to football in the muggle world of the US. The sport is very competitive and taken very seriously.

Each quodpot team also have a cheerleading squad of their own

Ilvermorny school shares many resemblances with a very stereotypical American high school; the school is filled with high school archetypes.

Quodpot players are very well respected within the school (often time resulting in them receiving special privilege)

Majority of witches and wizards that attend the school is from the US.

No house-elves in the kitchens, it’s staff and Pukwudgies.

Magical fireworks on each Independence day and New Year’s eve

Ilvermorny tries to celebrates all different holidays from different cultures and religions

I’ve seen many post comparing Ilvermorny Houses to Hogwarts Houses which prompted me to make something to show the difference and the underappreciated beauty that is Ilvermorny.

The Pukwudgie: Represents the heart and favours healers. It is more than just loyal helpers and medicine. Those housed into the Pukwudgie are those who value restoration and improvement for everything around them. They are the ones who repair things that are broken and alleviate the vexation that weighs against others. They are the engineers of livelihood, the freethinkers, and optimist. The Pukwudgie represents the heart, not just for loyal helpers, but for the will of striving for the life that holds our heartbeat.

The Horned Serpent: Represents the mind and favours scholars. It is more than just intelligence and wisdom. Those housed into the Horned Serpent are specialized in individual things, each one of them unique, yet each one they are eager to show and teach others. They are the collectors and enthusiast in what they avocate. They are the creativity, innovation, and the imagination that is what makes the mind unique. The Horned Serpent represents the mind, not for just intelligence, but for what makes the human mind what it is.

The Wampus: Represents the body and favours warriors. It is more than just physical fights and spirit. Those housed into the Wampus are those who value loyalty, honor, and respect for everyone. They are the demonstrator that stands for justice and the voice for those who do not have one. They are the immemorial custom of order, duty, and the steady hand in a battle. The Wampus represents the body, not just for physical fights, but for what makes the human body seem endurable.

The Thunderbird: Represents the soul and favours adventurers. It is more than just thrill seeking and galavance. Those housed into the Thunderbird are those who value personal methods and gain through what they experience. They are the analysts and observers of world beneath their feet and beyond them. They are the victors, the paragons in esthetics, and lovers of environments. The Thunderbird represents the soul, not just for thrill seekers, but for every fiber of humanity that lurks within us.
