Here's the first chapter out of five
The sound of the Christmas carol resonated in every ear, and people attentively listened to the gentle melody, enjoying it. Some gazed admiringly at the boys and girls singing on stage, especially the parents.
On the stage, a group of boys and girls stood together. The shorter ones were in the front row, while the taller ones stood in the back. They wore green outfits with red capes and red hats on their heads. They all looked the same, except that the girls wore short skirts instead of trousers.
They sang the Christmas carol in unison, without a single mistake or discord, as if they had practiced it many times before the event. In some eyes, there was a steady spark of excitement; they were thrilled for today.
But in the eyes of others, there was only boredom and negative feelings. These children, unlike their friends, were not lively and cheerful. It seemed they had no enthusiasm for the Christmas celebration. They sang without much interest, but still, their singing was flawless.
On the other side of the stage, a group of people sat in chairs, listening to the carol. They were like the children; some were very happy, while others seemed disappointed and angry, as if the children’s singing had irritated them.
The eyes of the children on stage wandered here and there, especially some of them. It was clear they were searching for someone specific, and those people were none other than their parents. Who could be more important than their beloved parents?
But some of them, no matter how much they scanned the room, couldn’t find a trace of their parents. It seemed their parents had forgotten such an important event and hadn’t come to watch their children sing.
It was truly shameful. How could someone forget such an important occasion? Those children, who had been eager to see their parents’ applause, were now disappointed and sad. The excitement in their eyes was gone, and the spark of joy gradually faded away.
However, this wasn’t the case for everyone. Some children were upset, but others stood firm, undisturbed. Their parents were watching them, and they sang the carol in the best way possible. Time passed quickly. The carol came to an end, but the children’s feelings did not. Some of them were as happy as ever, while others remained just as sad and disappointed.
As they slowly descended from the stage, they could hear the sound of applause and cheers from the audience. The hall lights gradually brightened, bringing more light to the room. The applause and cheers gradually subsided until the hall returned to silence once again.
