something to think about
Thinkin' About You - Frank Ocean
It's not often that I get into an R&B artist, but Frank Ocean has something about him that appeals to my core. Maybe it's his voice, or maybe it's subliminal messages. Or maybe it's because he likes dudes. More dudes that sing should like dudes.
First day without caffeine
They say it's okay to drink as much green tea as you need, but there was something excessive about drinking 9 cups of green tea a day. So today I have armed myself with enough herbal tea and weed to try and make the experience as least painful as possible.

There's something about this album's loops that etch grooves into my brain. I think that's healthy.

RIP: 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer, a victim of relentless anti-gay bullying, was found dead earlier this week of an apparent suicide.
âI always say how bullied I am, but no one listens,â Jamey wrote on his Tumblr blog in a post dated September 9th. âWhat do I have to do so people will listen to me?â
The bullying got particularly intense about twelve months ago, when classmates started leaving homophobic remarks on Jameyâs Formspring page. âJAMIE [sic] IS STUPID, GAY, FAT ANND UGLY. HE MUST DIE!,â read one of the many vicious comments.
Friends were always there to defend him, however, and Jamey himself even appeared to be taking the abuse in stride, contributing a video to Dan Savageâs âIt Gets Betterâ project, in which he echos the words of Lady Gaga, telling other bullying victims to âhold [their] head up.â
Sadly, despite assuring his parents multiple times that everything was fine, all was not as it seemed. On Sunday, Jamey posted one final note on his Tumblr: âThank you Lady Gaga.â
âHe touched so many hearts, so many people,â Jamey mom Tracyâs told The Buffalo News. âI didnât realize how many people he touched. He was the sweetest, kindest kid youâd ever know. He would give all his heart to you before he gave any to himself.â
As American servicemen and women across the globe celebrate the long-overdue demise of the militaryâs discriminatory âDonât Ask, Donât Tellâ policy, Jameyâs untimely death offers a stark reminder that the struggle for tolerance is far from over.

I really can't communicate how sad I am after reading something like this. I'm actually in tears. While the repeal of DADT is great news, we still have a long ass way to go. Growing up while struggling with my sexuality was some of the darkest years of my life, and I would be lying if I said I never considered suicide as an option. It would also be equally dishonest for me to say that it's still easy. It's reasons like this that has driven me to become a middle school teacher. If I can touch and change a child's life, I'll know that my existence in the lifetime was worth it.
