it was nice to speak to someone that she could. in a way, relate too. she felt relief, and no sense of loneliness. the only strange thing is that HONESTLY, she never felt such emotions for herself before. she did when it came to her followers, she felt FOR them, but not for herself. was being on earth making her a little more human than she used to? was that the answer? she didn’t know, but she felt as though that was the case. she felt as though spending time amongst mortals made her feel the same emotions as they did. it wasn’t a bad thing though. she could relate to how they felt, and perhaps understand them a little better, not that she already knew. she knew humans better than most because she acknowledged their very soul. she had too, it was part of her to KNOW the human soul.
“thank you. i shall indeed inform you when i get ready to go there.” she reassured, her eyes flickering to turn to joseph, a smile crossing her features. “war…” she fell quiet, remembering the times where titans and olymphians fought. she remembered zeus slaying her father, she remembered her whole species dying out, all except her — because she was favoured by the all-father god himself. why? she never knew, but she took josephs advise to not dwell on that question. she didn’t hate zeus for what he did, but he wasn’t particularly fond of him either. “oh yes, i know all too well…” she admitted, inhaling deeply before exhaling.
“no i haven’t. i’ve heard of them though.” she admitted with a light chuckle, her hand went to come up to move the strand of hair, though joseph beat her to that, and her eyes softened as she locked eyes with him, smiling ever so gently at his words. “it is a first. usually people are drawn to the likes of aphrodite or artemis, not that i can blame people. i have found so many souls are drawn to such beauty, they are too afraid to look into the void of darkness, which every single soul do possess, which is a pity because therefore most people do not accept themselves WHOLEY. i have to say, i also am rather enamoured of you as well.” she finally turned her whole body so she could face him, both of her hands resting against his wrist. “thank you for giving me a chance unlike many, joseph.”
Joseph wondered momentarily about what brought HEKATE here of all places. For him, it was his escape from the bunker. A new world and one that had been given a second chance by the Creator, at that. He didn’t suppose that she had escaped a wasteland written into an apocalyptic hellscape, not like he had. Either way, he WORRIED about asking. Joseph was never hesitant about speaking in regard to the Voice nor about what he had been through, but a protective layer had begun to coat his relationship with Hekate. He worried that if the question left his lips, he’d somehow will that into existence for her. To be stuck in such a meaningless place, he wouldn’t wish that upon anyone, especially not her. He replied genuinely, despite the lingering thoughts, “I look forward to spending more time with you, especially in such a SPIRITUAL atmosphere.”
“Zeus?” He inquired. He didn’t want to push her, but her silence made him realize he’d accidentally signaled a memory from her without having meant to. He truly had meant to explain in as little detail as possible about Jacob’s past. After all, there was a certain detail that was a little too much for most people. But, of all the people he’d encountered, Hekate seemed as though she would be unmoved &&. unwavered by the knowledge. “I concur, you’ve seen a great many things, my dear, perhaps it’s about time you let your MIND rest ?”
Joseph hadn’t been the one in the past to coax others into CONFESSION, but he thought he would be glad to hear hers if she needed to lighten the load of the burdens she might carry. “Well, as you likely know, human beings are not INFALLIBLE. Most of which can quite easily tricked by a pretty face.” Not to say Hekate wasn’t attractive, she certainly was. But just as Hekate said, there was something of a chasm between those who came from a sugary positive place and those like each of them that were wrapped in a version of darkness. He paused as she moved, he simply watched her and waited. “If that was giving you a chance, it was certainly the easiest option I’ve ever been given.”
