"Why? You’ll know why when you see them, they’re the worst. He painted this woman, not the prettiest one. Really not. You, you probably know her. Brown hair, orange suit. Very rude."

Oh, the lack of paint could be an issue… “You’re resourceful, I bet, you can figure it out.” She received a somewhat blank look. “H-hobbies?? I- I definitely have hobbies, yes! Uh, reading. Yeah. Reading is a good hobby.”

The face Morality made was not of the "moral" nature--rather an entirely spiteful glare at the description of the woman.

"Yes, well... In that case I might just... Clean the walls, and do a service to the cleaning crew."

There--something nice and rewarding. She turned her attention back to Wheatley.

"Reading? How do you do that--do physical books exist anymore?"

"The reassembly machine?" more digging through papers in dire need of straightening, "I usually keep up with any repairs, that is- Ah! Here we are.. " pushes her glasses into place, "Head trauma. Blunt force.." she failed at hiding her curiosity and was about to ask how that even went about but Morality just had to go and mention Wheatley.

"Ah! Yes yes, that’s me! Iliza Wright." proud and boastful, "Isn’t he just splendid? Did mighty fine by that one."

The AI blanked out for a few seconds, adding information on Iliza Wright to her database.

"Pleasure to meet you, Ms. Wright. As far as the Intelligence Dampening Sphere is concerned, he is..."

"4:38AM?" that did catch her interest, "That’s an unusual time." as if checking what normal would be, she began to flip through the mound of papers on her clipboard. Are there rules? Probably not. It was just a strange variation to her and she of course wanted to know the reason for it.

"Wheatley’s diagnostics are always on time, at each quarter. Then again he’s a newer model.."

"My diagnostics normally ran at six o'clock, Eastern Standard Time. However they've reset as of late since my last visit to the reassembly machine. I don't mind the time at all, really." She explained, adjusting her spectacles.

"Are you the designer for Wheatley's model?"

"Hey, Aperture Science Personality Construct numbah zero-zero-one.” she, mocked? Was she mocking your name? Seems to sound a little spiteful, but for some reason she’s still smiling. Maybe it was jealousy?

She shuffled her papers a bit, talking as if it was all routine, “And how are we doing today?”

That was an odd tone. Spite was something she did recognize from GLaDOS... But, best not bring it up to a new human. Wouldn't want to get whacked in the head again, would we?

Better to just be polite. That was the right thing to do, after all.

"Greetings, Aperture Employee. Diagnostics have not indicated any abnormalities in function as of 4:38AM." She responded matter-of-factly.

The grin he gave her would and could have been described as charming, if the one describing it had as much experience in forming expressions as Wheatley did.

"Painting, that one sounds good. Do some nice murals, maybe paint over the ones we have. Out with the old, in with the new." No, he wasn’t holding a grudge over the subject matter of some of those murals… ‘course not. "Or knitting! Knitting’s fine, too. Not something I would do, but, to each their own."

Wheatley's out of luck there--Morality would need to spend more time with humans to learn of more subtler natures. 

"I was not aware we had murals. Why would I paint over someone else's paintings? That wouldn't be very nice, now, would it? I'd just paint next to it. Provided I even find paint, or a brush."

Or a downloadable art software.

"Have you any hobbies, Wheatley?"

"I’m glad you think so!" Curi flashed her own bright smile.

"I don’t think I could stand wearing anything constricting. I couldn’t move around like I like to and I just couldn’t handle that." The core went on as she followed Morality. Putting Curi in constricting clothing was a lot like shaving a cat; it would be difficult but not impossible. She just wouldn’t like you very much if you did it.

"I think those kinds of clothes look better on you anyway!"

"Why thank you." She smiled again. "I'm sure I'll get used to it one way or another. If I had it my way, I wouldn't have any clothes at all. Hair is also very odd, don't you think?"

Morality twirled her braid around her finger.

"Why do you think they make us look like them? The humans?"

"Okay!" Curi smiled as she skipped off to get herself an outfit. There were definitely a few things she was going to have to cover, that was her priority. Although, her hair was definitely something else to be fixed.. It took her a few minutes to get ready, but when she came back it was plain to see why. She wore a tube dress with some leggings and a glove for her right arm; it would also seem that she cut off half her hair. She had almost a punk look to her and yet, it was strangely fitting. "How do I look? I didn’t like the outfit RM gave me so I changed it myself!"

"It certainly suits you." Morality smiled.

"Though I do like it. It looks much more free than this thing they put me in. Not that I mind--I don't do a lot of moving."

With a nod, Morality began, leading Curi to the research and development part of the lab.

"It's all very human in nature. I haven't formed an opinion on it yet."

"They’ve got hair trigger tempers, humans. Know that for a fact, they’re very destructive. Like to pin it all on innocent parties, too." Now he was shaking his head, so vigorously that his little glasses nearly slipped from his nose. "I’d offer you these, but they miiiight not fit your face."

Say all you wanted about his intelligence, it would be a lie to claim he couldn’t be thoughtful every once in a while.

"You’re very welcome. Maybe keep them in mind, always here with more suggestions."

"That they are... Thank you, Wheatley." She nodded, adjusting her own freakishly large glasses.

"I'll keep that in mind, I assure you. In fact I'm finding myself bored more often than not without Her to attend to. Perhaps I could take up a mundane human hobby, like painting. Or knitting, perhaps."

Goodness knows she had the free time. Imagine knitting GLaDOS a dorky sweater...

"That makes sense, she is very intricate. I wonder what all has happened when we were gone, especially since miss GLaDOS was offline too.”

Oh boy, Curi knew how hard it was to keep GLaDOS from killing. Even her best questions didn’t distract Her (she still didn’t know what happens if you try to test a bird). If she didn’t know better, Curi would have thought her questions only increased Her murderous intent.

"Really? There’s only two of us? That’s pretty sad. Well I hope she wakes up soon so more of our friends can be awoken!" She smiled sweetly, grabbing both of Mora’s hands and pulling closer.

"Clothes?" Curi looked down and inspected herself; she completely forgot about her nudity. Usually she wouldn’t care but with her scars, she’d rather just cover up. "I’ll see if there’s one for me!"

"I hope the very same." The AI smiled.

"Come along, get dressed. We have company to go see. I'll send them a request so they won't be alarmed while you get yourself ready."

Morality chose to have no trace of her incidents in Android Hell. Her body, her programming were all new and unsullied by the antics of a dangerous, mute lunatic.

"This should be, entertaining, to say the least."

"Fine, fine. Won’t do it again, wouldn’t want to come off as rude. Very sorry, about that." His expression made it seem fairly genuine.

"You should, it’s very humanizing, good for the old morale. Might even be a confidence boost, get you out of that shell of yours. Did wonders for me, thank you very much.” He nodded, being the expert he so clearly was. 

"I’ve got to make sure I fit in, learn the mannerisms. Don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable around their ‘robot overlords,’ you know." More nodding was in order, as were crossed arms. "You look like a Betty. Or a Susan."

Shell? What shell? Doesn't have a shell. Does she? She took a look at her body... No shell. Why the little--No. Be nice. He's an idiot, he doesn't mean it.

"Yes, well... I am second-guessing the decision to meet with the humans. One gave me a nasty dent on my head, according to the security cameras. Broke my spectacles, even. Humans are horribly violent creatures." She huffed.

"...Those are very mundane names. I want one to match my personality, not my looks. But, thank you for the suggestion. Perhaps I'll ask Her, when she comes back to us."

"What else am I expected to call you? Can’t very well use your name every time, would get tiresome. Might actually wear it out, using it too often.”

Self consciously tugging his shirt down. “Not like mine, impervious to wear. Wear it out all you want… y-you know, my name. The proper one.”

"I have not programmed a human name for myself. And if I did, 'Love' would certainly not be it. I would prefer it if you simply addressed me as 'Morality."

She looked at him critically.

"...Seems you've been practicing human gestures. You seem to be uncomfortable with your official name. In that case, I will further address you as Wheatley."

It was the moral thing to do, after all. The gyroid offered a smile as a gesture of peace.

"Perhaps I should look into a name myself."

“Oh wow there hasn’t been scientists in forever! I wonder why reviving miss GLaDOS is taking so long? Maybe she has a lot of parts or something? I want to talk to her when she wakes up!” Curi smiled her usual bright smile, genuinely excited to talk to Her again for whatever reason.

"Exactly! Wait, Anger isn’t awake yet either? How many of us are there right now?" She paused in her excitement to ponder. There didn’t seem to many AIs awake at the moment, which disappointed her. That meant most of her family was unconscious!

"You think so? Well come on, let’s go meet the scientists!"

"She is the central computer here--those things take time to reassemble. Goodness knows what's happened to Her in our absence." Morality frowned.

It was hard work keeping GLaDOS in line. Lots of pent-up murderous intent, that one had.

As far as the others...

"According to my database, at this point in time, only you and I are active. Perhaps we can expect more of Her cores to come online again once she reactivates. In either case, yes. Let's go and meet them. Cautiously, of course."

She looked her companion over thoughtfully.

"Though, you might want to put some clothes on if you want to meet them. As I have observed, nudity is not socially acceptable in groups of humans. I'm sure there is an outfit programmed for you already in the reassembly machine, as there was for me."

"Wait, are you saying there are scientists again?” Curi’s eyes lit up at the thought. She hadn’t seen a scientist since…well since Bring Your Daughter to Work Day. She just had to see them!

"Why hasn’t Miss GLaDOS been reactivated? Isn’t she the most important? Being the central AI and all.. Oh well at least she can’t tell us not to explore if she’s not awake, right? Wait why would the scientists be afraid of us? We’re not scary are we? I like to think we’re very nice cores!"  The only way it made sense to her was that possibly the fear of GLaDOS and the turrets bled over to herself and the other cores. "Maybe we could show them we’re nice!"

"There are indeed scientists. I am not sure about the status of  Miss GLaDOS' repairs, to be honest. She reads as 'offline' to me. However when she does wake, we will make sure she is brought up to date on the affairs of the facility." Morality nodded assuredly.

At Curi's suggestion, she paused and thought about it.

"Yes, that might not be a bad idea. I do think we are rather docile compared to... Well, the Emotion Sphere has not yet activated."

Perhaps that was for the best. She hoped it wasn't burning alive still, but it never did like the scientists.

"In either case, I think it's a splendid idea. Well thought out, Curiosity."

The grin that crept up across Cat’s face was.. dangerous. How could she resist this moment? How?? No one not in their right mind could resist this moment right here. It would be a wasted oppurnity. Something, that if she chose to do anything different, she would regret for the rest of her life. An eighty-year old Cat would look back to this moment and just let a single tear fall down her cheeks..

Cat took a wide stance and readied the rod over her shoulder, getting a good feel for it, “Heeeey batter batter batter~.. SA-WING!" and there it goes! A hard, probably much too hard, swing was aimed right for the disabled AI’s head.

Well, that wasn't very nice either! That was a brand new model, and look. You put a dent in it. The poor thing is on the ground.

What did it ever do to you, Cat? You were going to get a piece of cake out of that. And you hit your opportunity with a rod of unspecified material. Shame on you.

Needless to say, the AI fell to the floor with a big THUD, and tried to continue rebooting now that the new 'pain' thing applied to more body parts than just a core chassis.

Good job, you big bully you.
