What with the popularity of Sherlock, Elementary, and the RDJ Sherlock Holmes movies, why hasn’t Disney made a TV series of The Great Mouse Detective? That would be a LOT of fun. Obviously Ratigan and Fidget would have to still be alive, but that could be easily explained away (as John Grant points out in the wholly wonderful “Walt Disney’s Animated Characters”, we don’t actually see Ratigan die, and Fidget is a comic foil and therefore indestructable; he probably pulled himself out of the Thames ready to retire from crime, only to run smack into his “deceased” boss. And Maurice LaMarche does a perfect Vincent Price impression so that’s already solved as well. All in all, I really wish this would happen.

Months had passed since his alleged death , fully healed & ready to resume the game once more. But he wouldn’t just start out like any other scheme , no he wanted to do something NEW. Alone in his rival’s home he sat comfortably in the rouge chair , admiring the portrait of himself Basil still had hung high on the wall. How adorable. Time ticked away in the dusty grandfather clock , the criminal growing tired of waiting. Patience was never a strong suit of his. Boredom struck with every second gone by , any time now his old rival would pop through the door , another case chalked up to be a success. So sad he no idea of what awaited him in his own home.
Basil had been out on several cases all over Europe since last they’d met, having fought criminals from Baker Street to Loch Ness and back again. Unfortunately for him, his newest case had been botched by a certain Inspector Lawless....again. This time he’d managed to get on the wrong end of a broken bottle that had been used as a thug’s weapon and it had gotten him in the arm pretty good, and the only thing the mouse could think of now would be to get out of the rain and get it bandaged up, he had no time to go to a pesky doctor! And Dawson was busy visiting family, so he was on his own.
The mouse finally got home and slammed the door shut, quickly rifling through the nearby desk for his emergency gauze, not having even noticed he wasn’t alone.
[OOC: This is a really lovely style I adore it.]
I've seen the documentary about Sheelock Holmes and addiction(his drug addiction to cocain and the high of a new case). It made me curious. Have you ever tried drugs? If so, did you enjoy it or dislike it? Also, do you drink alcohol?
“While I can relate to the high of a new case, I don’t use drugs like Mr. Holmes does. I do smoke my pipe though, which does have tobacco in it. Helps to sort my thoughts. I admit I’ll have a drink or two at times, but not very often.”
"Well, Well, Well~" The criminals voice purred from behind the other. "Evening, Detective~"
The fur on the back of Basil’s neck rose at the sound of that voice. The voice that had haunted his dreams for countless nights after the ordeal on Big Ben. A voice he swore he’d never hear again…but then, his body had never been found..
Basil flipped around, and stared at the famous criminal almost in awe. He was borderline about to either hug him or strangle him for taking so long to appear. “I thought you were dead.”
The kiss shocked Basil and at first he tried to push away. This is wrong this is very very wrong!! Basil thought frantically, but then…why did it feel so right? He slowly relaxed a little and looked at Ratigan confusedly. The logic of his mind was telling him it was all wrong, he shouldn’t fall in love with Ratigan of all mice!! But it just felt so right. He’d done stage kisses many times before when he’d been an actor…long before he became a detective. But they always felt so awkward and strange. But this, this felt…..natural? Nervously, he kissed back. If anybody asked, he was just acting. Yeah…right.
Ratigan firmly held the other as he kept their lips firmly pressed together, Smirking into the kiss when he felt Basil relax and start to hesitantly returning the kiss. He started moving his lips with the others eagerly, Passion quickly starting to build as he tightened his hold on the Detective.
Basil closed his eyes. He couldn’t believe this was happening, but it felt right. After a moment he pulled away, if only to catch his breath. “What was that?” He asked, still feeling confused about the whole thing. “I thought you hated me?”

“Not one bit.” He said, his voice faltering slightly. What is going on!! Basil thought worriedly. I am not in love with my arch rival, I am NOT!! A little squeak came out as Ratigan touched noses with him. I’m not!!!! I can’t be!! “Who has time for such trivial things as that? Especially when I’m busy solving your crimes. Dulls the mind and the senses.”
“I suppose it could be a trivial thing if you were to do it with somebody who’s ordinary, But with us, It’s more of a perk~” He purrs, His eyes fixated on the others. “And now, I think it’s about time we finally break this sexual tension~” With that he closes the last few inches between the two as he presses his lips against the others in a firm kiss, His arm quickly latching around his waist to hold him there.

Basil shifted nervously at what Ratigan said, Ratigan was flirting with him! Basil had never been flirted with in his life!! At least….not that he knew of, he hardly realized he was being flirted with now! Flirting, like romance, was a foreign concept to this mouse. He’d never had time for it before, preferring his facts and science to such trivial things as love. Love would just get in the way and distract him from his detective work.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about..” He said looking away from Ratigan.
Ratigan chuckles. “Really Basil~? You don’t know~? You have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about~?” He teases, Leaning in even closer so that his nose presses against the others. “I believe that you are lying, Detective~” He purrs, His tone lowering into an even more seductive sound.

Basil ears drooped back nervously and looked down, still blushing bright red. Why was he feeling so flustered? It’s not like he felt anything but rivalry towards Ratigan….right? He was suddenly jerked from his thoughts as Ratigan cupped his chin. “I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Drat I just stuttered! Basil thought to himself. Why is this happening?! …wait, did he just call me adorable? “And I’m not adorable!”
Ratigan let out the same taunting chuckle again. “Oh, I believe that you are very adorable~ I mean just look at you, Continuing to redden every time I say something~ If that’s not adorable, Then I don’t know what is~” He teases, Gently stroking under the others chin with his fingers. “Don’t try and act like my flirting doesn’t have an affect on you, It’s obvious that it does~”

Basil leaned back a bit as Ratigan got closer, and nearly squeaked at Ratigan pulling out the handcuffs. The action made Basil jump forward a bit, right into Ratigan, which of course made the smaller mouse blush, especially after getting pecked on the nose. Quickly he scrambled backward and coughed to clear his throat. He was fine, yup. Just ignore how bright red his ears were blushing from the whole ordeal. “Give that back!” he said angrily, though his voice may have squeaked just a smidge.
Ratigan chuckles, Completely ignoring the others demands as he inched closer to him again. “Oh Basil, You should see how adorably flustered you are right now~ Blushing bright red, All squeaky and stammering; It truly is a sight to be seen~” He purrs with a teasing tone, Cupping the others chin again. “Not use to this kind of attention, Are you~?” He whispers.

“As a detective it’s my sworn duty to put you behind bars!” Basil said with a scowl. “And I will see you behind bars yet, if only briefly.” He added as he shifted slightly, making it easy for him to reach those handcuffs with his tail. He just needed to wait for the right moment to strike. Provided of course the criminal didn’t see them first. “I am curious as to how you always escape…”
“Oh, I’m sure you’d just love to know, Would’t you~?” He purrs, Leaning in closer to the other. “But as I’ve said before, There isn’t any fun in just simply telling you; If you really want know, Then figure it out yourself~ Oh, And by the way….” He trails before his hand quickly and smoothly moves into the Detective’s pocket, Pulling out his handcuffs. “Did you really think you could trick me, Basil~? After how long and well I’ve known you~?” He chuckles, Pecking the others nose. “Maybe you should also try keeping your handcuffs somewhere else once in a while~”

Basil’s ears burned bright pink at this and tried to scoot back, but then Ratigan had cupped his chin, causing him to gulp nervously. This was not according to plan, nope. He looked around nervously, expecting to be attacked at any moment.
“I suppose not..but you did take your sweet time to show up.” He said as he was busy planning a way to take Ratigan in, sure he had that extra set of handcuffs in his back pocket, but how to get it out without raising suspicion?
Though Ratigan was pleased when he noticed pink illuminate the others ears, His smirk quickly fell as he looked into the others eyes. He knew the look in them, He had seen it many times before, When the other was thinking furiously of ways to capture the other in an attempt to send him to jail. “Really Basil?” He asks, An annoyed sigh coming from him. “Honestly, Could you not just once let us have a moment without ruining my fun? Even now, After obvious allusion to how much you missed me, You still are trying to think of a way to put me behind bars…. Besides, Aren’t you being a bit hypocritical? You say I’d be bored without you, And I know that it is the same vice versa, So what good will I do you in prison? Besides….” His smirk suddenly comes back. “You know I always escape~”

“That trap was mere child’s play to escape from, and you know it.” Basil said with a smug grin, his tail giving a twitch of amusement at the memory of besting the trap. “Not your best work I’m afraid. And admit it, you’d get bored with nobody to get in your way. Why else would you show yourself now?”
“Hmmmm~” Ratigan felt a satisfied grin cross his face, Pleased with the Detectives reply. He always loved it whenever Basil would play back with him, Making his endless little game more amusing. “Oh Basil, You always seem to know what to say~” He purrs with a flirtatious tone, Starting to slowly approach the other. “We have such kindred minds, It’s one of the things that attracts me most to you…. Yes, I would be unbearably bored without you, That is why I’m here now…” His hand moved forward, Cupping itself underneath the others chin. “Couldn’t expect me to stay away for long now, Could you~?”
Basil’s ears burned bright pink at this and tried to scoot back, but then Ratigan had cupped his chin, causing him to gulp nervously. This was not according to plan, nope. He looked around nervously, expecting to be attacked at any moment.

Ratigan shakes his head, Closing his eyes. “Why Basil, I believe that you are forgetting that I was perfectly fine leaving you to die in my trap~” He says. “We have our fun, Yes, But you can still be quite the nuisance when it comes to my plans, And that doesn’t always make me happy~” He continues, Opening his eyes and giving the other a mock smile. “I apologize, But I’m not a big softy like you; Death is nothing unfamiliar to me~” He purrs wickedly.

Ratigan couldn’t help the string of amused chuckles that escaped him; What a curious reaction for the Detective who claimed to have loathed his very existence to have….
“Why Basil, If I didn’t know you better, I would say you sound hurt~” He teases. “But that’s ridiculous, Isn’t it~? Why would you be so devastated by thought of your arch enemy being dead~? Most would be happy to see someone they hate die, Unless….” He dragged out, A devilish, Slightly flirtatious, Smirk crossing his face. “You don’t actually hate me~?” He purrs, Tilting his head curiously at the other.
Basil grumbled angrily, his ear flattened against his head. “I do loathe you, but I loathe the idea of death, especially a death I caused even more. Nobody, not even you, deserves to die that way. And how would you have felt, had it been me that fell instead? I’m the only detective that could ever match wits with you.”
