The Monster Under Your Bed; Expectations!
When I sit down every night to write my daily post I write of whatever is relevant to me in hope that it will strike a cord with the readers. Tonight, is no different, and I write of expectations.

Oh, that was me. Shrieking.
Those horrid monsters under our beds that will break us down, and make our grown asses cry. Yup, those.
I've ran scared for years, avoiding my monsters, because let's face it, our expectations are always the scariest.

For those of us that live under a fucking rock trying to make some arts, here's the low down! Somewhere in the bowels of a mansion, a teary eyed Selena Gomez blows her nose with a wad of cash, after allegedly breaking up with the Biebs about thirty times this week.
Wait... Wutt?
That's what's clogging up the Pop Culture headlines? Really? ...Why?
The artist is so unappreciated in this day and age that it's quite comical. And yes, you may argue that Gomez and Bieber are in fact artists, and though you may be right for the sake of this post I will tell you to kindly stick it where the sun don't shine.
I'm talking about writers, poets, painters etc. The ones that--for some forsaken reason--tend to fall to the shadows. And again, I know, most of us prefer it that way, but not all.
Some of us would like to be recognized by the media, and portrayed for what we really are, talented people! People of talent!
Noteworthy people! People worth of note!
For far too long, we have been ignored. A writer is a glorious being capable of creating worlds, and universes you wish you could visit. Poets can paint a picture, and tell a story that can cripple you with emotion within a few short stanzas. A painter can take colors and dab, stroke, and fluff magic on a canvas.
These folks are special. They matter!
So, fuck you mainstream culture. We'll make our own news source, where we are the focal point.

The Ugly Artiste
As artists, some of us can get a bad rap for not being your "conventional" beauty. And I'd have to be honest--as a representative of the writer--I don't exactly put much attention to my surfaces. All I know is that guys don't stare, girls wince, and I can't look into mirrors, at least not without suffering a painful blow to my self-esteem.
Like most writers I spend more time obsessing over a sentence, than the average girl on makeup. I find it hard to wake up an hour early to braid my hair, hide my blemishes, or properly ready myself for the day. As the alarm cracks in the chilly 530AM air, all I can think of is the reeling room around me. Having gone to bed only five hours prior, due to my night owl writing there aren't sleepish minutes to spare!
So, writing this in my cat-hair covered pajamas, and trying to tie my tangled hair, I ask you reader. Do you care much about your looks? Would beauty advice benefit you?
Musing Mondays
As most of us would agree Mondays are dreary days--whether the sun is up or not--we go back to work, school, or we realize it's yet another week's beginning and you haven't finished your novel. (Did I just make it personal?)
Regardless, we are a procrastinating creature by nature. And Mondays are just not for the artiste. So, tell me what can we do about that?
Here's a couple tips on how to brighten up your day and breathe some life into your gaunt Monday muse.
Visit The Octopus (not only everyday,) but Mondays especially. We have our "Musing Monday" tag which features writing prompts, quotes, inspirational songs, and anything else that the struggling artist might need to get their week off to a good start.
Play an inspirational song, that gets you up and your blood pumping full of musey goodness.
Free-write through the gray lump. Don't edit, just keep those fingers going. I recommend you don't read it if you're not confident in your work, which let's face it most of us aren't.
Done with school? Work? Well take a hot bath/shower, muse in the steam, let the creativity flow from your pores. Then get to the jotting, scribbling, typing etc, but towel dry first, whether you decide to do it naked is up to you... ;)
Force yourself to do your work. It will become second nature sooner, or later. And don't shame your Monday work. It's just the crummy Monday blues.

Musing Monday; Writing Tip #001
Do your nails on Sunday night, and watch your inspiration leap bounds on Monday. There's nothing like watching freshly manicured nails whisking away on the keyboard--regardless of the quality being emitted.
