This AU was written over the course of roughly three years via roleplay between the two aforementioned. This publication is a revised version of that story for quality control, palatability, etc.
That being said, this AU touches on subjects such as childhood abuse (physical, sexual, and emotional) and neglect, violence, bigotry, medical settings, and other sensitive topics. Special care has been taken to ensure these situations are approached sensitively and reasonably, and I will be using the appropriate content warning tags to filter these posts when they become relevant ("#cw ducks"). Please make use of Tumblr's built-in tag filter system to ensure you are properly prepared for such posts.
