Hey there!

I'm Lupe. I'm a naturalist working with The Paleozoology Foundation, currently stationed on the landmass known as Termaso in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

As some of you may know, one day about five years ago, this mysterious place seemingly just appeared out of nowhere. We soon discovered it was home to dozens of prehistoric species, mainly dinosaurs! I am one of the lucky few that was given the opportunity to study the fascinating animals and the land they inhabit.

I thought a blog would not only be the perfect way to spend some of my free time, but also help bring some of the discoveries we at the outpost have made about these creatures to light. Not only that, but it gives me the opportunity to share some of the photos that I've taken while out in the field.

New year, new species! Expanding our research into Riparia has led to the rediscovery of many species. The most recent is Austroraptor cabazi. I spotted this male perusing the banks in search of crustaceans and fish to feed on. Such a unique species that I hope to get to observe more.

Specimen Profile: Bull

TYR-1216, or “Bull” as he is colloquially known, is a 16 year old male Tyrannosaurus rex. He is easily identified by his unique black and white coloration, strangely reminiscent of a pinto horse. He is most often spotted in the forests of Riparia to the east. As of writing this, he has not been seen with a mate or established a territory of his own.

Bull was first spotted at around age 10 in Stillwater Bog. While looking for a drink, he’d wandered into the territory of a large adult male. Without any hesitation, he was chased away. Since this encounter, he seems to have become more skittish around other T. rex, a healthy habit to keep.

Believe it or not, some parts of Teramaso get cold enough for it to snow! Polar dinosaurs like Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai and canadensis range all across the continent, but are most at home in the chillier regions. On a trip to one of these spots, I once captured an old, grizzled male P. canadensis on the lookout for a mate. He bellowed out in a strong voice that carried far across the moors.

I unfortunately wasn’t able to stick around long enough to see if he was successful, but this bull had clearly seen many breeding seasons. Could he have claimed victory once again? Or would this season have been the one where he finally lost his winning streak?

Utahraptor ostrommaysi and Didelphodon vorax.

Although albinism gives animals a magnificent appearance, their pure white coats can also land them in danger.

This Didelphodon unfortunately picked the wrong time to exit its burrow. At the same time, a young male Utahraptor just happened to be passing through the area. Although the Didelphodon was slippery, ducking and weaving to avoid tooth and claw, the Utahraptor soon caught up to it. It was unfortunate to see the end of such a beautiful animal, but judging by its size, this Didelphodon was remarkably long-lived for an animal with its mutation.

The Knight And The Dragon ⚔️🐉

When I was on Gondwa, I was able to witness a pretty grisly standoff between a sub-adult male Styracosaurus and a pair of Latenivenatrix. It was winter then. The harsh conditions have been known to cause animals to become desperate. This is likely why the pair decided to take on such a dangerous prey item.

The fight lasted for some time until eventually, one of the Latenivenatrix was killed, leading to the other’s retreat. Of course, the Styracosaurus did not walk away unscathed either. He was given some deep wounds. I haven’t seen this individual since, therefore at this time, it’s unknown whether or not he survived the hunt.
