Despite having lived in the city for a few years when I was younger, the only time I was ever in the Manchester Arena was a couple of years back when @jellybelly30 & @therosieversion & I trekked across for Raw & SD.
The place was a bit of a maze to get out of after the show. So many people being held on stairways & passageways while other areas cleared, only to end up in a mass of people clumped outside the exits waiting to move in again, it felt like organised chaos. Coming from where we do, all 3 of us saw it with a particularly critical eye & did comment amongst ourselves about how difficult it would be to get out of the arena if there was a bombscare or a fire.
Whoever is behind that incident knew precisely what they were doing and precisely how to cause the maximum impact.
@sortofgetit very true. There was no order that night. A wee bit more order when we were at A-Ha concert 4 months later but still... merchandising at all exits, McDonalds near the box office, Victoria train station being a busy hub. I can't even begin to imagine how everyone is feeling this morning 😢
