Digimon Adventure & 02 Drama CDs

The Digimon Drama CDs are short audio stories that expand the main story of the anime. They have multiple genres — from comedy to drama — and are mostly considered part of the main canon. I though it might be useful to write a little introduction to this important part of the franchise. They’re really fun and enrich the Adventure universe tremendously, so they’re definitely worth checking out.

How to start:

There are so many Dramas, it can be hard to know where to start. So here’s what I would recommend.

Best of These are the most well-known CDs. The Original Story ones are are most relevant to the main story of the anime, since they give us information about the characters and important plot points. Michi e no Armor Shinka is the funniest and longest of the Drama CDs, so it might be a good introduction to the format. If you don’t have a lot of time, I’d suggest starting with these 3.

Original Story 2½ Year Break

Fills in the gaps of what happened to the Chosen Children between the events of Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02.

Original Story Year 2003 –Spring–

Explores the lives of Chosen Children and the world in the aftermath of Digimon Adventure 02.

Michi e no Armour Shinka

A strange Digimon wrecks havoc in the Real World on Valentine’s Day; hilarity ensues.
