Lost Media Spotlight #1 : Steam Punks! on ABC 3
Hello Folks! While we have a lull in website making, I thought weâd start something fun; a lost / obscure media spotlight! This spotlight will focus on steampunk media that is hard to find, or lesser known in the community, and today, weâre talking about Steam Punks!
Steam Punks! was a game show that aired on ABC 3 (called ABC Me at the time), first airing on the 17th of February, 2013. Steam Punks! was a steampunk themed game show hosted by Paul Verhoeven, in which two teams of âInqusitivesâ are set a variety of challenges given by an assumedly female robot known only as âThe Machine.â Each episode included five different rounds. With what clips and personal knowledge we have (as mod Coil watched the show when young), the challenges were as followed;
The Quizatorium ; The Quizatorium was a simple, multiple choice question game based on scientific knowledge that the contestants had. As of this moment, we do not have any clips of this segment in the archives.
The Storeroom ; Teams were given five different storerooms, each testing one of the five senses. As of this moment, we do not have any clips of this segment in the archives.
Bang , Crash , Splat , Splash ; During this segment, teams were given the first half of an experiment, and were asked to predict the outcome. As of this moment, we have one (1) clip of this segment in the archives.
Feed The Furnace ; For âFeed The Furnaceâ, one team was tasked with throwing coal into a furnace for points, while the opposing team sprayed them with goo to try and make them slip and slow down. As of this moment, we have one (1) clip of this segment in the archives.
Fast Or Last ; This was a timed, quick fire questions game in which teammates had to use a hammer to hit their buzzer and answer first. Incorrect answers would give the opposing team a chance to win.
The winning team would be dubbed âSteampunksâ, while losing teams were sent to work for The Machine in the catacombs.
There was also a website with flash games on it, and while that website has been preserved on the Wayback Machine, it does not appear that anything works through it at the time of posting.
