I'm so glad that Liam never had that Agressivly Jealous Love Interest moment. He was most likely concerned about Ruby getting close with Clancy but he was happy for her finally opening up and getting the hang of her powers. He knew that her connection with Cole is about something else but he was merely worried about her safety. What a good character.
