Laika wakes up, yawning widely, and looks around, blinking blearily, and looks around. After a moment, she registers that she's not in her den, and begins freaking out, scrambling out the door, down the stairs, and into the bar, looking around in a panic.

It took Grillby a moment to realize who he was looking at. She’d come from upstairs and aside from her fluffy baby fur, the pup clearly had the same markings as Laika… Approaching cautiously, not wanting to move too fast and startle her, he crouched in front of the pup, “Hello, is your name Laika?” He inquired calmly, for confirmation. once he knew the situation, he could work from there.

She shies away from him, whimpering, but then nods hesitantly, looking confused. “Y-yes, s-s-sir… w-w-where am I? H-h-how did I g-get here?” She looks terrified, as well as confused.

Grillby thought about it for awhile. He didn’t know how long this would last. Or if it would be permanent. So it was better to not leave her anxiously looking for her parents. “There’s been a problem..” He said slowly. “You’ve probably heard there was war threatening to happen?” He’d heard enough, as a child, even years before it had happened, “But it’s over now, and you’re here, where it’s safe. My mate and I are your caregivers now. Your family wanted you to be safe. You don’t have to call us your parents yet, but we’ll be here for you, and when it feels okay, then you can feel free to call us whatever you would like.”

The moment he says there’s been a problem, she knows, and she looks desolate. She sighs sadly, listening to the rest of what he has to say, and nods. “Ok…” She pauses, looking around. “Um… d-do you have any other kids that I can meet…?”

“We have a few kids in the family. Some of them are even younger than you.” He gestured over to the kids’ play area in a nearby side room, “Scout is a human. She’s... around somewhere. Vinh is in here.” He pointed to a little dragon who was doing their best to climb a section of the indoor playplace that went into a little ball pit. “And over there is Tahoma, he’s still pretty little, though.” The small skelemental was in a baby bouncer at the moment, but he’d decided it was naptime and was starting to fall asleep.

Cleanup

Gaster followed Helios around most days. It was easy to fill the space when you were busy and with three babies, they were always busy. It was easy to fall into such a rhythm, Gaster was good at filling the void and domestic life with Helios seemed to be shaping up to be everything he’d dreamt of in the past. 

If at all times got to be too much, it was easy to just stop and fidget with his ring. Ah what bliss to be finally, Helios’ husband and only his. There was a kind of satisfaction there too. They’d survived everything up to this point. And they’d keep doing so so long as they didn’t think to hard. 

Slowly the fragmented memories wore away until nothng was left. It was like it’d never happened. And that was just fine for the Gaster-Grillby’s. 

Today found Gaster, running after Scout, and cleaning up in the wake of–gods he hoped that was mud–that Vinh and Daenaerys had tracked literally everywhere. The ceiling too? Those rascals! 

But everyone was happy and things seemed better than ever, so he couldn’t complain. 

Everyone knows, a toddler on the run is a suspicious one indeed! And she was gonna go as far as her little legs could get her. Aha! Under the changing table! That’s where she was gonna hide her goodies she had just nabbed!   Once the deed was done, she had turned back, that sheepish smile on her face radiating. But who could be mad with a giggle like hers?

Helios crouched in front of the table, peering in at the little mischief-maker. He knew she had something but as long as it wasn’t perishable, harmful, or moving, he wasn’t overly worried. Kids liked to have their hoards sometimes..Sans still did at times. 

“Well hello down there, snail princess. And what are we up to today?” The flame chuckled and booped right on her little nose.

NOW YOU’VE REALLY DONE IT 

If you do a genocide run on Uddertale, King Asgore is kicked out the window by Cowster, he mutates into this thing and fights you instead. Even if you kill him you have to reset anyway because he’ll initiate the Throne Barn burning and there’s no way out.  Following such a reset you find the sexy farmhand milking Dr. Cowster. He will be present for subsequent runs.

Cleanup

He was starting to adapt to the quiet. There were chairs in the house that had been empty so long Helios was starting to forget why he’d put them there. Maybe it was just to fill space. Still, it wasn’t very efficient. Maybe it was time to put them away. How many times had he considered that? It was all a blur. 

But business was good lately and Tahoma and Vinh were growing like crazy. Akira, too. Scout didn’t seem to be growing much at all, which was a concern, but the toddler seemed happy and healthy, so he tried not to worry too much about that. 

Sans and Papyrus had been mending their relationship, which was a relief, in all honesty. He couldn’t remember what they’d quarreled over anymore, but they couldn’t seem to find a reason to fight anymore these days either.

Yes, maybe it was time. 

Maybe even to rearrange the whole space.

That would be nice, wouldn’t it?

He knew this feeling.

The ache, the hollowness, the ball of ice in his chest squeezing at everything inside him until breathing was a chore.

Caelinus wasn’t a stranger to that kind of loss; it had been that same grief that had pulled him into the terrible path he’d taken in the past. The path that had turned the farmer’s son turned soldier even darker to the role of a warlord. Anger hurt less.

Sometimes he wondered if he was better at being a beast than being a parent. He kept losing children. 

The infernal was sitting alone on the floor, in front of a small empty nest, folding fancy little clothing he had to find something to do with.. he couldn’t keep it. He couldn’t take it. 

Daenaerys was at school.

He’d never know where Sunny was.

         Frisk smiled, splitting the sandwiches in half, and replacing shape halves with other shape halves! Though, yeah… sometimes she got some that had only jelly on it– but.. But hey! That’s okay— sorta. …. And.. yeah.. the sides with peanut butter, she….. occasionally see what surfaces it could stick to— including her highchair tray… and.. and her shirt– …. and.. the floor- Lunch time is like, the best! 

She was learning, he noted. Sandwich on her shirt instead of the cheeks. “Silly girl, aren’t you hungry?” He reminded her. 

Not that sticking it all over herself ever seemed to stop her from eating what she wanted of it. She was flexible like that.

Papa?" Cuddles set her head on his leg softly her voice quieter then normal. " It's to quiet now..."

His eyes welled up, but he pushed the thoughts away and willed himself to keep from remembering the fuzzy bits that remained, “It is, isn’t it? I’d begun to forget how much I hated the quiet.”

Frisk just sorta…. stared at the food for a bit. She wasnt so sure about… what to do with it- were tthey toys?? were they food??? what  are??

The flame was so happy to have found something else she would eat! Oh well, they were only babies for so long, he was sure she would grow out of the fussy eating age eventually, but she was so much fun to watch playing and exploring that he wasn't in any hurry.
