Quick Visual Aid and Guide to the Big Stick Rogue in BG3
Heyo all! As I am a huge MinMaxer in D&D I like to theorycraft builds. Since learning about the Minotaur's Greatclub being acquirable and having 2d12 Damage attached to it, and my subsequent learning of the Rogue's ability to Sneak Attack without Finesse weapons, I have decided to test the combination in what I may call the Teddy Roosevelt Rogue. In EA I would recommend either Shield Dwarf or Githyanki, for Medium Armour access and Weapon Opportunities. Step 1 and 2 can be undertaken in either Order, but I'll list them as I did them.
Step 1: Kill the Minotaurs near the Myconid Colony, under the Phase Spider Matriarch's lair under the Blighted Village.
Step 2: Talk to the Myconids, get Glut to squad up with ya. Ideally you'll be able to wait to Long Rest until after Step 3.
Step 3: Bring Glut to the Minotaurs, use their Animate Corpse ability on the Minotaur with the Giant Tree Greatclub (the hard-hitting one). Glut will require you to Long Rest before it will be raised.
Step 4: While controlling the Minotaur, use their Throw ability to yeet their Club on the ground.
Step 5: Congratulations, you have the Slam, and I welcome you to the Jam. You're now fully equipped to speak softly and carry the biggest stick.
For Visual Aid, see Below, Glut, the Minotaur, and Ulfric very happily holding his favorite stick.
Personally I'm hoping War Cleric gets a small translation in features when it arrives in BG3, if it just gives the Cleric a Bonus Action Attack Once per Turn (or just provides Attacks as Bonus Actions) and there is Multiclassing, we're looking at 1 War Cleric/9 Thief Rogue as the GOAT. My Half-Orc Cleric-Thief of Shargaas is ready to exist.
