PUBG has taken over my life
I have played a ridiculous amount of PUBG since I picked the game up, and I’ve gotta say I’m still having fun with the game. Now don’t get me wrong, I have a myriad of complaints about the game, from it’s mechanics to its poor optimization, I could go on for ages lol. But I unfortunately keep coming back, as the game itself is ridiculously fun.
I think I like it partly due to the fact that it feels like a rogue-like. I loved The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, as it’s probably my favorite rogue-like of all time. Each game plays out differently, you get different power ups that combine with each other each game. PUBG plays out a lot like that. Granted there’s much less variety, and you’ll most likely end up with the same AR you always gravitate towards by the mid game, but each game plays out differently to some degree, and I love that.
Now me being sucked into this game of course means I’ve opened crates, and I know that’s why most of yall are here. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the loot looks like it does below.
In other words, garbage.
I’m not exactly how I should cover opening PUBG crates here, and there’s a huge difference between the free-to-open crates and those that require a key. Statistically speaking, you’re likely to get jack from any free crate, like the new biker crate, compared to anything from the desperado. I mean the Leopard mask from the desperado is a 0.16% chance, compared to the 0.0064% of the biker! That’s. In. Sane.
I mean, to cover what I’ve opened since my last post, I’ve opened 24 Wanderer/Survivor crates for free, 7 Desperado, 6 Bikers, 1 Gamescom.
In case you were wondering what I got out of the Gamecom...
It wasn’t great.
So as you can see, I’ve opened 46 crates overall, but only 8 of em required a key. Now, as for those crates that required keys, most hasn’t been great, either. The Gamecom is seen abve, and 6 of the 7 Desperados haven’t been great, either. Luckily, there was one, small sliver of luck.
Aviators, baby!
I don’t care too much about what they’re worth, to be honest. I think it’s like, what, 8 bucks or something? And that’s great, don’t get me wrong, but you wanna know the real cool part?
1.3%
That’s rare.
To be honest I’m not sure how many crates I’m going to open on this game. Sure, I’ll definitely open a crate here or there, but seeing those odds, which are even worse than TF2/CSGO supposedly, aren’t really encouraging. At the very least I can say I won’t be nearly as adamant about opening stuff as I have been in the past (which obviously shows through my activity here...).
Thanks for stopping by, yall!

TF2 to Overwatch to PUBG?
Almost 2 months since my last post. It isn’t great, but it’s definitely still better than the last one!
Man, I need to cut back a bit looking at this now haha. Sure, it’s only 2 a week, but that’s a lot for a game I don’t even play anymore. And I’m not even replacing TF2 with Overwatch lately, despite my solid climb on the ranks lately. Managed to get into Masters once again, and again playing almost nothing but Lucio (In case yall wanna know how I play Lucio check my guide out!). Unfortunately, I just kinda started getting...bored of Overwatch.
Don’t get me wrong, I still love the gameplay, and the fact that I can carry games as a support main is incredible. Huge plays and constant kill potential from Lucio, Zen, and Ana? Count me in! (I don’t play Mercy/Moira much) But the thing about hitting Masters is now I really have to try. See I got there just through playing to have fun, really, and I guess learning new strats and techniques that I found enhanced my gameplay a bit. It’s about that rank where you really have to buckle down and practice, though, and I just don’t really have the time for it. I started working as a middle school teacher, and I’m going to school at the same time. That doesn’t leave a lot of time to grind that competitive ladder, let alone sit in a custom match headshotting Ana bots lol.
What I DO have time for, however, is a good few rounds of PUBG!
Man does this game have its issues, but it’s seriously fun. To me, it’s a game of hide and go seek with guns. And that’s dope. I’m sure yall have played it already tho, so I won’t go into it too much.
What I DO love though, and a little more related to what this blog was meant to be when I started it, is the crates that PUBG has! You can EARN them through gameplay, most don’t need a key to open, AND they can have valuable loot?? What’s not to like? To be honest I’m quite worried that all crates in the future will eventually lean towards requiring keys more consistently, but I don’t wanna jinx it.
(I’m obviously not quite sure how to get consistent screen shots of unboxed loot on this game yet lol)
I’ve hunted down 8 crates so far, though. Sure, most of it was garbage, but most of them I got for free anyways so I’m not really complaining! I even got some Blue high tops worth like 50 cents!
Either way, the game is fun, the crates are cool, and I’m going to enjoy the hell out of this winter break. Have a good holiday, yall.

Thank you, Valve
3 and a half months since my last post, and everything I said on the last one I take it all back.
Not the part about working a lot, because unfortunately that’s true. Side tangent here, but I’ve been working full time on top of going to school since I the day after my last post, so I can at least say I have a decent excuse for slacking.
No, I was referring to the part about TF2 not getting any love. Everything from a Pyro rework, to balance updates, to, essentially, a weapon skin rework, this update seriously packs a punch!
Unfortunately, I am still working a lot, which means I haven’t been able to enjoy this update nearly as much as I would have liked to, but from what I’ve played of it I’ve liked. I don’t agree with all of the balance changes, but I can definitely say I’m enjoying the Pyro rework. Not only does his airblast feel much more consistent, but the new weapons are a blast to play with, and can really add a change up to the class as a whole!
Not to mention the new way weapon skins are being added to the game!
I have to say this is a very interesting step in the, hopefully, right direction. This is the first thing related to skins TF2 has had changed that was NOT directly influenced by CSGO’s case drop system. Everything from rarity to condition to how skins were implemented was ripped straight from csgo, but now we have skins that can change into ANY weapon? What is this going to do to the market? Is this for the better in the long run?
Having traded a bit in CSGO, I know how much float value and pattern mean when assessing certain skin’s prices. One person’s factory new can look completely different from another’s, and hunting down that perfect pattern could take ages, along with making the skin worth twice as much. Now that patterns can be randomized, and wear is static, it becomes a hunt for the skin itself, rather than skin + wear + pattern. And I think I like it? To be honest I’ve been out of the trading scene for a while, so I don’t care as much as I used to. Not to mention I’m just unaware of how the current market works.
Now, the reason I’m kinda wanting to know how the market works again is because of THIS.
It’s been 248 crates, and I’ve just found my THIRD unusual! If it’s truly 1/100 I’m really beating the odds!...barely. It’s seriously cool that Valve added the ability to preview what the weapon will look like before you apply it, cuz man does it look cool on a few!
To be honest I’m not sure what to do with it. I might trade it off, I might start playing TF2 more and want to end up keeping it. Who knows? All I know is this is insane, and I wanted a Strange Star Crossed skin at most. An unusual was way, way more than I expected, and I’m super excited and hyped.
My apologies for being so slacking on the posts (for those few that might still care). Here’s to hoping this TF2 update means a lot more posts will follow!

It Lives
You’re all probably wondering where I’ve been, yeah?
Nah, just kidding. No one actually reads this blog lol
Firstly, life. Graduated college last year, got a job since then, gonna be going back to school, and in turn haven’t been playing games nearly as much. But none of that is important, and I’ve always got time for gaming.
To be quite honest, I’ve been playing a shit load of Overwatch. Now hear me out, I was definitely on the I hate Overwatch bandwagon when it first came out. I thought a lot of aspects were straight up copied from TF2, from game modes to character design. And I mean shit, when Blizzard straight up says “yeah we loved TF2,” it just kinda confirmed Blizzard was doing the thing where they find a a game they like a do it Blizzard style (looking at you, Hearthstone).
And when I said a shit load, I meant I’m putting that grind in lately. Hit Master so far, aiming for Grandmaster at the end of the season, too.
“But Gumby why invest time in comp Overwatch instead of Comp TF2?”
Welp, that’s because Blizzard invests time into Overwatch, and that’s a big thing that’s actually hurt me as of late.
Valve. Doesn’t.
I love TF2. Honestly, I still love the game more than Overwatch, as the community itself just offers so much more, but unfortunately Valve doesn’t seem to love TF2 like we do. Every update we’ve gotten for ages has done more harm than good, and it truly has felt like they never actually played their own game, let alone listened to what the community truly wanted. I swear half the time I launch the game lately I have to close it before matchmaking even throws me into a server.
But Blizzard obviously loves Overwatch, and it shows. Unfortunately, that’s why I haven’t been on TF2 in a good minute, and why this blog has remained untouched for months now.
I’m hoping to come back to it, I truly am, but without Valve actually giving TF2 some love, I’m worried I’ll only be playing the game in the future due to nostalgia.

Almost consistent posts!
Well, while my posts have been more consistent, the content of them has just been consistently lame.
No real commentary or discussion or anything, so I do apologize about that. But lately shit’s just been busy. New job, on top of still working at my old job, on top of working towards going back to school for my new job for a new job within the new job...I’ve been busy.
But I mean even if I did comment on what I’ve unboxed it wouldnt be the kindest of words. Have you seen these unboxes lately? Sure, I got a festivizer, which was kinda nice, but aside from that I’ve gotten a lot of blues and blues lately :(
Here’s to hoping both my luck and the quality of my posts go up a bit from here
