What my day consisted of. 💙
I love sleeping but I don't seem to do it much... #canisleepnow #gotaskedwhatthosedarkpatchesundermyeyeswere #signs #needtoconsidermybedsfeelings #iwillcomebacksoon
My newest addition to my @therealsjmaas collection, fan art from @charliebowater and a newly met friend. In love with this corner of my books 😍 #acotar #maassassins #ToGseries #satisfying #beautiful #inlove #thankyou #talentedpeople
Nesta HC Acotar 3
Nesta was Made different. Nesta was Made Illyrian. (More exactly, part high fae and part Illyrian or some kind of mix, since she didn’t have her wings)
Elain sucked in a breath, her fine-boned back rising, her wet nightgown nearly sheer. And as she rose from the ground onto her elbows, the gag in place, as she twisted to look at me—Nesta began roaring again. Pale skin started to glow. Her face had somehow become more beautiful—infinitely beautiful, and her ears… Elain’s ears were now pointed beneath her sodden hair.
I didn’t care. Not as Nesta was sprawled upon the stones. I knew that she was different. From however Elain had been Made… Nesta was different. Even before she took her first breath, I felt it. As if the Cauldron in making her… had been forced to give more than it wanted. As if Nesta had fought even after she went under, and had decided that if she was to be dragged into hell, she was taking that Cauldron with her. As if that finger she’d pointed was now a death-promise to the King of Hybern. Nesta took a breath. And when I beheld my sister, with her somehow magnified beauty, her ears… When Nesta looked to me… Rage. Power. Cunning. Then it was gone, horror and shock crumpling her face, but she didn’t pause, didn’t halt. She was free—she was loose. She was on her feet, tripping over her slightly longer, leaner limbs, ripping the gag from her mouth—
Feyre specifically mentions Elain’s new body and her pointy ears. Feyre then mentions Nesta’s body and starts about Nesta’s ear’s the same way, mentioning them and trailing off as she did with Elain. But this time instead of actually telling us they are pointed she tells us of the power she senses in Nesta. That is not a coincidence. The same exact phrasing “her ears…” but wildly different continuation of that statement.
Her face had somehow become more beautiful—infinitely beautiful, and her ears… Elain’s ears were now pointed beneath her sodden hair.
And when I beheld my sister, with her somehow magnified beauty, her ears… When Nesta looked to me… Rage. Power. Cunning.
So she does not have pointed ears. Who in Prythian does not have pointy ears, a trait both High Fae and Lesser Fairies share? Illyrians.
Cassian finished his laughing. “Illyrians are certainly not High Fae. And glad of it.” He hooked his black hair behind an ear—rounded; as mine had once been. “And we’re not lesser faeries, though some try to call us that. We’re just—Illyrians. Considered expendible aerial cavalry for the Night Court at the best of times, mindless soldier grunts at the worst.”
Nesta took more than the Cauldron intended. And she is filled with rage and cunning and a tangible power. Killing power? And the terrible irony of damaging Cassian’s wings and giving Nesta wings is too big not to notice. Nesta is Illyrian. She will command the armies next to and together with Cassian. She will not have seven siphons for her killing power, she will have nine. She will scare the living daylights out of the Illyrian males at those camps, making god damned sure her fellow Illyrian sisters get the training they have a right to. She will whip those camps into shape okay? She will inspire those females who have spent their entire lives being silently repressed, despite Cassian’s and Rhys’ efforts because sexism dies hard, inspire them to fly and train and fight and to never let a mere weak male make them feel like less. She will protect and care for them as she would not and could not protect and care for Feyre all those years in that forsaken cabin. And if Cassian loses his wings permanently she will take him flying whenever he needs to feel the wind whipping his face and soar high above the Illyrian mountains. It will be Nesta coming full circle.
I think if Cassian's wings don't heal, Feyre will be able to shape shift wings for him, like Tamlin shifted the males he sent across the wall for a human woman to kill. And then they'll be able to fly into the night together.
What I do if my time isn't consumed by books.
I want the reunion for Feysand in ACOTAR #3 to be as dramatic as the first time we saw Rhys in ACOMAF at the wedding. I want a bunch of chaos and confusion going on and then out of nowhere Rhys appears, bows in front of Feyre and say, “My High Lady” with a smirk in front of everyone.

their reunion better be dramatic

This performance by the Nicholas Brothers in Stormy Weather is applauded by many to be the best dance number on film. I don’t need to contribute to the high praise it receives. Instead I have included a spreadsheet breaking down the shot changes - I wanted to see if they cheat… but it seems that pretty much every feat is genuine - the only one I had to re-watch a lot is the piano jump… it looks like it’s too far but they seem to really be departing from atop the piano. Relating to the previous clip, apparently jumping into splits on staircases is a thing that recurs.
These brothers are such an inspiration !

THERE’S SO MUCH GOOD ART WHAT THE FUCK???
Exactly how I pictured both of them!!!
Sarah J. Maas is an amazing woman. Never before have I read a book that addresses PTSD, abuse and Depression in such a realistic way. While I am not an expert and I do not claim to be, I appreciate how she addresses these illnesses that everyday people suffer from. And especially if they went through the ordeals that Aelin and Feyre went through. In ACOMAF Feyre is in an abusive relationship with Tamlin. And many times the people in it are not capable of seeing it, but the ones around the situation can see the problems. And she doesn’t gloss over it, she doesn’t make it seem justified. She shows how unfair and wrong and awful and hideous it is. She shows that it is sick and hurtful. She shows how one may think it’s okay. But she never condones it. And that is amazing. Feyre in ACOMAF is also suffering from PTSD. Something that thousands are suffering from right now. And like the thousands she too has triggers. For her it’s closed spaces and darkness and red. And Sarah doesn’t gloss over it. She may use it to show how Feyre matured and evolved but by using it she also addresses it. She makes it easy to understand how something traumatizing can lead to mental problems. She makes it easy for someone not well versed in PTSD to understand what is wrong and then maybe that person would go on to try and help real people who are suffering from this real sickness. And in almost all of HoF Aelin is suffering from depression. Depression can be inflicted in multiple ways, but for Aelin it was a friend who caused it. And that is good in its own way. By having the reason for her depression be someone close to her Sarah is also showing that not everyone we love and trust may be good and healthy for us. And she shows her depression in a realistic way too. Aelin’s depression isn’t romanticized, it’s realistic. She is sad and angry and happy and mad. She has a range of emotions and mind sets. Sometimes she cares and sometimes she doesn’t. Aelin doesn’t want to save herself and she is ready to embrace death. Aelin is depressed and sick and people (or person) could see it. And with all of these cases Sarah also shows how a good support system can help with everything. For Feyre it was Rhys and the Court of Dreams. For Aelin it was Rowan and the Demi-Fae. Sarah J. Maas is an amazing person for brining to light the topics we always shy away from. She is a remarkable human-being and we should always be grateful for what she has done.
Beautiful, as someone with depression, you are absolutely right. I love how SJM describes the feeling of being trapped within yourself perfectly.
Sarah J. Maas is just so frickin’ rad
