To celebrate my 100th post, Beyond the body by Imme van der Haak.
In the movie, two female dancers wear the translucent silk garments, which are printed with photos of men and women of various ages and appearances. That's a new perception of appearance and identity and when I saw this video, I have thought at ads for Evian and t-shirt ! As the dancers move and reveal glimpses of their own bodies and faces, it's hard to tell where one person ends and the other begins. Both bodies are mixed in a choreography. In a dance performance, the moving body manipulates the fabric so the body and the movement then brings the life. "Beyond the body" intrigues, astonishes or sometimes even disturbs (In any case for me).
Photograph sculptures by Justine Khamara.
I wanted to show you the work of paper sculptures made from photographs. because I think it is very successful. Indeed by a precision cutting Khamara creates these absurd and warped images and he seeks to disrupt the smooth surface of the photograph to make relief, volume, sculpture. Thus the artist brings a new vision and photography take life. Movement and interaction with the viewer is created. Face and portrait becomes creature.
Relation in Time by Tin Lun Li.
More than bringing out the relationship between man and woman, couples and lovers in time, Tin Lun Li’s work also points out the relationship between audience & the art piece itself, time and space through the use of positive and negative space.
I have reading that the busts show the artist himself and his wife, both are constructed by layers of computer generated cross-section images. They are not completed without the existence of each other, the negative space of the man is actually hollowed by the contour of woman and vice versa, each bust loaded with each other’s image. That's really romantic and poetic. And the achieving portraits in layers is superb.
Her is an American science fiction romantic comedy-drama film (yes that much!) written, directed and produced by Spike Jonze.
Set in 2025, Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix) is a lonely, introverted man who works for a business that has professional writers who write intimate letters for people who are unwilling or unable to write letters of a personal nature themselves. His wife Catherine (Rooney Mara) and him have broke there are almost a year but it does not decide to sign the divorce papers. Theodore purchases a talking operating system with artificial intelligence, designed to adapt and evolve. He decides he wants the OS to have a female identity, and she names herself "Samantha" (Scarlett Johansson). Theodore is fascinated by her ability to learn and grow psychologically. Samantha proves to be constantly available, always curious and interested, supportive and undemanding.. (The dream! And that's why it's not a real woman haha.) And a love story begins to create.. This film shows the kind of creations and new technology that could happen. But the big problem of loneliness in the population that led to that. But it is especially a beautiful love story but impossible between a man and a voice, a program dedicated to stopping. This is a movie that really touched me, which is sensitive, with good acting skills. The story and screenplay evolve, takes us into a universe. I recommend this movie, it has a real human and psychological dimension.
Self-portrait by Maud Levavasseur.
This weekend, I wanted to try to take photographs of naked. I think clearly in spite of myself I am influenced by the photographs I look and post here. I felt the need to try also to give a little bit my vision, both in smoothness in movement or hardness. Three completely different understanding of the body. I really enjoy working on the move, I like the fuzzy side of the hair. I think when it's natural, it's the better. I also work with the skin folds, shadows and light, black and white, the image blur. I do not particularly like the self-portrait but I think it's easier to do or even what you think..
Nude by Mecuro B Cotto.
There are a lot of sensuality in this work. We feel that he loves working on coubures of the female body especially the back. I like photographers who know sublimate the body of the woman. Female nude photography is much practiced, sometimes too much and not always the elegant, so I appreciate this kind of photographs. We feel a real research between the curves of the body and space, creating a formal stake. And the use of black and white reinforces this aspect. The last photograph is not the most sought after, but function well, I find it very pretty. It is difficult to select a few photographs because many are very interesting, so as always I invite you to visit his website.
Infrared dancers series by Nir Arieli.
In Inframen project, he has created a series of portraits using an infrared technique that reveals blemishes that lie under the dancer’s abused skin, like scars, sun damage, beauty spot.. Like a form a voyeurism, this photographic process strips away the dancer’s outer shell, exposing hidden flaws. In Inframen, we are immersed in the intimacy of the dancers. They often represents the sensitivity, grace, elegance.. but here then we discover another facet. We go beneath the skin and we discovered the hardness of their work. I like this special side and intimate where we can see under the skin.
An experimental dance film made with dancer Fukiko Takase and written by Jason Molina and filmed by Bertil Nilsson. (Song: Coxcomb Red by Ohia).
A dance of lightness and sensuality. A subdued atmosphere, image overlays, the plans rapporchés with more details on the body, sometimes nude and the overviews. So there are a sensuality in the plans, colors, nude body, neck, hands, back, hair, pleated garment .. And the music that immerses us in an intimate atmosphere. and then his eyes that challenges us at the beginning of the video .. and after again for involved us in this dance and this universe. To share her emotions. A subtle report with the body in voluptuousness and reserve.
Another dance video : figurescrub.

By Emil Alzamora.
Emil : 'The human form is a constant within my work. I often exaggerate or distort it to reveal an emotional or physical situation, or to tell a story. Limitation and potential are as human as the flesh, yet hardly as tangible. In my works, I strive to make visible this interaction.'
Emil Alzamora challenge our conceptions of the classical body, often in the surreal and inhabited sculputures, these works reflect the emotion of the body. Distortions, hybridization or conversely, representative traditions. Each piece shows the fight between human and his body, his morphology. So, he work on the deformation of the body. Here I chose works that I particularly appreciated on exaggerations of limb proportions as the neck and arms. His figures writhe sensually in space, seeming to defy gravity as limbs extend and contort beyond their natural limits. I find his work very poetic and "tortured". In the first sculpture I have the impression that the man looks himself. He is outside his body, he floats in the air. He looks at his exhausted body, lifeless. I interpret Abrazo Sculpture's like the idea of solidarity for those large open arms and the idea of hunger, poverty by the emaciated body. So for me, it's a committed sculpture on the solidarity in poor countries. (After all this is my interpretation).. The last two sculptures are rather on human feelings. I can see the imbalance in the first and slackness, and tiredness in the second. Short, I'm falling in love of his beautiful sculptures. And I advise you to go look at his other sculptures! (Here)
Children photography by Alain Laboile.
Photographing his children with sensitivity, Alain Laboile reveals snapshots of great beauty and nicety, such as stolen moments of a beautiful summer day or a moment of sadness shared .. Beautiful images in black & white, freezing time and offering at the same time lasting memories for his family. I think it's wonderful.. We want to see more and more, coming in this universe. So if you want, you can go here.
Self Portraits by Rachel Baran.
Based in Ohio, the American photographer Rachel Baran makes mainly in the self-portrait with surreal images, playing on photographic manipulations. I like her style a little staggered. There are some poetry and research in his work. It's not the photo editing just for photo editing, she seeks to make sense and an impact. I like the relationship with space and emptiness in the first picture with the hand. I also like insecurity in the following two photographs.. The retouched photos are well done and made in the simplicity (especially one with the candle). I'm not a fan of photo editing but when it serves a good idea, yes !
Wasted Debates | Vein & Blood Vessel Font by John Arends.
The Wasted Debates are a series of three debates inviting the public to explore and discuss issues around the future of health, medicine, art and ethics in relation to our own bodies. The debates address issues such as cosmetics, ownership, stem cell research, disability and the future body.
The aim of this project was to create a typography to help promote the Wasted Debates team. For this, He created a custom typeface formed out of veins and blood vessels (in reference to human tissue). He then used the font to create large, typographic posters to be put around town to advertise the upcoming events.
This typeface is just available in uppercase because otherwise I think it would be unreadable and it has more impact in uppercase!
Before / After retouching by Arlo MagicMan
When I see this kind of photo editing I am very sad because it completely denatured the woman. All that make its charm and authenticity. Although I am still impressed by the quality retouching, I can't appreciate them. All the identity of this woman has changed; her freckles are beautiful yet are cleared and the color of the iris was changed .. But also contrasts, the dark and bright areas or the color of the skin , hair color .. It's too many alterations. A little bit natural please! I don't like wax dolls. That must be my puritan side.
Italian sculptor Aron Demetz created a fascinating pieces called ‘The Tainted’. He explores the human figure with his wooden sculptures and uses the material to highlight the harmony as well as the conflicts between man and nature. I am especially intrigued by the contrast between the softness of the wood and the rough side with the harshly treated surfaces. This surface treatment gives all meaning to these scupltures. They can be interpreted as a return to basics, to the beginning of life, birth and maintained strong bond between man and nature. Everyone is free to interpret these sculptures in his own way but we will all agree on the fact that there is a real beauty in the reproduction of the perfect human body. But represent all types of morphologies and corpulence could be even better..!
To see more.
I am now the happy owner of a new lighting equipment. Three boxes with continuous light, happiness ! It is a pleasure to work with that, I rediscover the light, the true. haha The photos are not very interesting but it is mainly to show you the light. Finish the light retouching in photoshop. In short, there will be soon more interesting photographs, I just wanted to share my joy with you.
Demain, j'arrête By Emmanuelle Walker.
I love these illustrations because they are very realistic in their stories. The tattoo that always calls another, this young woman envious of the others and her lack of will, or this young woman overwhelmed by her children. I appreciate the drawing style of Emmanuelle with these disproportions in the representation of the body but also simplifying of scenes and the lack of depth and perspective in his drawings. He doesn't seek to be in the realistic representation and that is what makes difference. And of course nothing worth humor to convey a message!
