I redrew a sketch I posted nearly two years ago to look at improvement, this is the result.

The text is something I took directly from my own online journal at the time, and it’s a little funny to look back on now, it made me think. There is nothing I love more than people.

I used to hate the world for what it had done to me, I didn’t want to be a part of any community. As a queer person I struggled with my own identity and an internalised hatred for everything I was, everything it had caused me to go through. I say this because people can change, wants can change, and that’s nothing but fantastic. I am incredibly proud and privileged to be a part of so many wonderful communities. I love my queer identity, I love connection.

That terrible conniving urge to hate and be hated and to Not Know changed, I’m very thankful for that. Not to get overly personal or philosophical on a tumblr art post. I just think it’s important to remember. If you’ve read this, appreciated the art, anything — thank you, I love you in spite and because of your life, and I hope you do too.
