US-Libya Military Cooperation Discussed in Tripoli
Libya and the United States held talks on military cooperation in Tripoli on Thursday during which the US said it “will continue to seek to strengthen the capacity of professional security forces from across Libya and support Libyan efforts to unify security institutions,” the American Charge d’Affaires Jeremy Berndt wrote on his official X platform.
UN Criticized for Negligence of Sudanese Refugees in Kufra
The United Nations and its agents operating in southeast Libya have been strongly criticized for negligence and lack of cooperation with the local authorities in the municipality of Kufra that have been facing the influx of hundreds of thousands of Sudanese refugees, a humanitarian crisis which gets worse by the day.
Speaking at a meeting with a high-level UN delegation led by UNSMIL Officer-in-Charge Stephanie Koury, the Mayor of Kufra, Abdulrahman Aqoub, said, “the United Nations has not fulfilled its obligations in the Sudanese refugees’ crisis.”
Libya’s Transitional Architecture is Crumbling, Koury Tells UNSC

Libya’s Central Bank to Print 30B LYD in New Banknotes
The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) has signed a contract to print what is worth 30 billion Libyan dinars worth of new banknotes as part of its efforts to solve the problem of cash shortages in Libya banks for many years.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the CBL said the new banknotes would be gradually replacing the old ones starting in January 2025. Observers say that this plan is aimed at withdrawing some of the huge amounts of money that are being stored outside the banking system.

The Government of National Unity (GNU) is committed to supporting the youth in all regions of Libya and holds high their role in the country’s development and its bright future, PM Abdulhamid Dbeibeh told a gathering in Misurata city on Saturday. He also criticized his Interior Minister for latest controversial statements.
