{♚}— “Human beings are so needy—you require so much attention to feel validated in your purpose and existence,” Lucy murmurs, hands resting on the limp shoulders of her little pixie.
“Especially you, Aderyn… You share those flaws, but you put them to use—rather than wasting it on your own kind, feeding them to become gluttonous, you are fulfilling a most wonderful purpose…”
“What do I need, you ask?”
And there it is: one of the beast’s elusive smiles, something that very few individuals could claim to invoke.
“Continue to make me proud with your extermination of the species that brings me so much misfortune. I relish in the thought of you betraying human kind and joining me on my path… It makes my heart warm to a degree. And you do not wish to disappoint ‘unsere mutter’, do you?”
Lucy’s head tilts to the side, a hand reaching down and brushing bangs from Aderyn’s face.
“You are my little bird, correct?”
“Me... me... hm. I never really thought about this... attention, do I need it. Do I really need it,” Aderyn pondered to herself, dissolving past the span of the conversation into a depth of distracted reflection. “The proper order of things is often a mystery to me,” she sighed happily, as if at peace with her own thoughts and self rants
She did not have much of a reaction at the meek touch on her shoulders, not necessarily because she was expecting it, but none of Lucy’s actions towards Aderyn had a reason to stir negative surprise or a wave of awe. Perhaps the only response was the bland tilt of her head to one side, becoming more attentive to her lover’s words upon being addressed
Her face lit up, a remarkable grin spread between her ears. There was no set purpose for her, no goal or anything alike - just wandering across opportunities and the most enticing individuals, which she had a pleasure to share a moment with one of them right now. It felt as if her own smile matched the other monster’s, a moment of equilibrium vibrating between their stances.
However, the previous grin grew rather pale. The request was very straightforward, and she was processing it. Was it just a request, or a demand? Surely she wasn’t used or ever accepted being ordered around. Although, knowing that it purely made Kaede’s heart warm, she seemed to give a second thought to her claim. Aderyn doesn’t remember the last time she’s ever encountered disappointment from herself or others, as it was a concept automatically disregarded since it proved an odd emotion meant to slow her down. Although, she managed to translate this notion to one simple purpose: keeping her pink-haired paramour happy
“Of course I am. Only me, and no one else,” Aderyn’s delight was obvious, along with her assertive hint that’s what’s hers is hers alone.
