WEEK FIVE: Conversations Rule The Nation + Graphics
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a work in artistic conversation with another work, whether that’s a fanwork, a traditional artwork, a novel, a poem, a song, or anything else that inspires you. You could also engage with literary theory, or with an artistic movement. Talk to us! Respond, converse, and create! Graphics are a great way to explore ideas, symbols, images, or themes which strike your fancy. Draw parallels between Luke Skywalker and Ramona Flowers through web weaving, perhaps, or whip up a pop art collage. Ideas? You need ideas? You’re in luck! The idea doctor is in.
Move, groove, and get fun and funky with web weaving. Compile snippets of poems, books, scripts, speeches, or other texts, and pair them with relevant screencaps, pieces of art, and anything else that strikes your fancy! Get back to fannish Photoshop basics and experiment with manips! Put your special girl, guy, or individual in a situation, or squish your favourite characters from separate canons together. Whilst you’re playing with JPEGs like dolls, take collages or moodboards for a test drive. You can break out the scissors and craft glue and make them by hand, too!
