99% of animals in the U.S. are raised in factory farms. If you’re eating something that came from an animal: the food you eat at a restaurant almost always comes from factory farms. The food you buy at the market probably comes from factory farms. The food you buy from the street vender definitely comes from factory farms.
The food you buy from “humane certified” farms come not from factory farms, but from farms where the conditions are so incredibly similar you would be hard-pressed to find the moral difference.

Buyer Beware: The Fraud and Fallacy of Humane Eggs
“Recognized” and “certified humane” farmers still kill animals once they are old and no longer produce eggs or milk. Even certified humane farms buy their eggs from hatcheries which kill male chicks. “Free range” hens are still treated horribly and often have to be rescued from an early death. Quite a few “happy farm” hens end up needing rehabilitation at animal sanctuaries.
Animals are not ours to use, and the ethical choice is clear when we consider how abundant cruelty and exploitation is in this industry.

Today at therapy was really hard. I was sitting here crying, and generally being miserable, when I felt a nudge at my knee. I looked down to see that Zeus, my service dog, was doing his job… and brought me a potato. it is very hard to cry with a gift of potato.
Remember this? I’m having a rough time right now. Zeus has a solution.
That would be an empty pill bottle, the *correct* pill bottle, a bottle of embossing powder, and two, TWO potatoes.
You’re worth at least 2 potato to him and that’s pretty special imo.
I would just like to remind you all that *I don’t own any potatoes* and I have no clue where he’s getting them from.

The hardest part of going vegan isn’t finding good, affordable food, or getting enough protein or b12. It’s realizing how casual people are about murdering and abusing animals. How casual you used to be about it.

Petition to fill the carnism tag with pictures of delicious meat meals, the way the lil baby jebus intended
Well, as carnists we should be allowed to put whatever we want in our tag, right?

Don’t do it! No one has ever done something like that. It’s completely original and vegans have never seen meat since going vegan. The other day I saw a meat in the vegan tag and started flailing about and screaming. I almost had to go to the hospital.
