bonus (because its super cute)
not much of his days were quite interesting if he were honest with himself. but they were just how he liked it. free of the YAMMERING of society, well generally. most days he stood there and watched the dust inside collectΒ amongstΒ the cobwebs. he wasnβt known for his CLEANLINESS. but it wasnβt a normal type of messiness, it was what mr. gold liked to callΒ an organized mess. things where were he could find them, things were tidy, but the CLUTTER was what got people all up in arms. he however was well POLISHED, not a thread orΒ fold out of place on his well tailored dress. people would sometimes question his choice of attire but all it took was on look that could cut through GLASS that had the bystanders mouth snapping like a bear trap. a small smirk ofΒ appreciationΒ and he was on his merry way.
some days however he was NOT free from the chatter of society. not many came into his shop to buy anything, if they did they were either looking for a deal of some kind, or asking for a rent extension. generally each INTERACTION ended in tears and stories of woe that he had not the time or energy for at all. he didnβt give extensions and he made thatΒ exceptionallyΒ clear in his contracts, why people came around with the WATERWORKS and sob stories was beyond him. all he could do was offer out whatever free tissue he had and calmly, but harshly explain his rules. he was a tad more sympathetic towards the women then the men, however nothing ever got PAST him. you were late on your rent you were thrown out on your arse no questions asked.
he was doing some INVENTORY in the back when he heard the bell above the door ring, signalling someones arrival. he hopped to the lord above it was not someone coming here to BEG. with an annoyed huff he made his way to the front of the shop his GOLDEN tipped cane tapping as he went.Β β ah miss blanchardΒ β he noticed the timid school teacher standing in the room.Β β what can i do for you?Β β he swung his way towards the COUNTER, turning to face her a ratherΒ neutralΒ EXPRESSION gracing his features.Β
A smile spread across the educatorβs lips, but it did take a bit of mental coaxing to do so, as she approached the counter. Reaching into her bag, Mary Margaret withdrew a folder and laid it down on the polished wood surface.Β βMr. Gold, I am actually here on officialΒ businessΒ today.βΒ the woman explained, keeping her voice calm and steady, regardless of the unease she felt in her stomach. Flipping open the folder, she pulled out a coloured flyer and offered it to him.Β βThe elementary school is trying to raise some money to make some much needed repairs and updates to the building as well as provide some more funding to extraΒ circulars and arts andΒ athletics.β
Miss Blanchard kept her face at eye level with his, he was a man ofΒ businessΒ after all and if she approached him in such a manner then perhaps it would help this interaction swing moreΒ favorablyΒ in her direction. Especially since Mary Margaret really and truly believed in her cause.Β βThe students will be starting a fundraiser of their own, as well as the annual autumn carnival but for the basic covering of what we need, it wonβt be enough to properly benefit the school. So, we are approaching localΒ businessesΒ for sponsorship and donations.βΒ Withdrawing another, this time more seriously designed, sheet of paper; Miss Blanchard laid the full offer from the school on the counter for him.Β βEvery little bit helps.β

Donβt be such a coward, Mary MargaretΒ chastisedΒ herself as she stood a couple feet away from the storefront. You knew what you were getting into. Itβs for the kids. Mr. Goldβs Pawn Shop had the demeanor of a small and simpleΒ nick-knack store on the front, but anyone who lived in Storybrooke knew thatβs what that was: a front. Gold was known to be tricky, charming and unsettling. Despite his simple appearance; his eyes were cold and lusting - always trying to gain the upper-hand. He owned half the town and was constantly trying toΒ acquireΒ more of it; at least thatβs what local talk claimed. Mary Margaret had very little experience with the man herself; of course she had seen him around town and at events. On occasion she had chatted casually with him, smiled at one another politely on the street, holding the door when they happened upon one another. Yet this minimalΒ interactionΒ was enough to set Miss Blanchard at unease when she was near him; something about how he looked at everything (as if determining itβs value) didnβt agree with her.
Personal feelings aside, everyone knew that when Mr. Gold was interested in something that his support was monumental. While nobody would accuse him of being a generally charitable man by nature, he did play his part. Storybrooke was a small town and people talked. So every year he seemed to find a few causes worth his notice and make his generous contributions. The cause she was peddling throughout town was repairs to the school and funding for extraΒ circulars. There was going to be a carnival and a collect-a-thon as well, but it was the staffβs job to reach out toΒ localΒ businesses. As tradition, the teachersΒ diviedΒ up the town into sections and took off. It was just bad luck that Mary Margaret was swindled into this part of town.Β
You canβt loiter outside forever.Β Taking a deep breath, Miss Blanchard counted to ten and drew herself together before walking over and reaching for the brass knob. Poking her head in slightly before fully entering, she scanned the area to see if any customers were shopping (hoping they might make it easier); there were none. Closing the door behind her, she carefully walked over to the front counter, clearing her throat before calling out:Β βMr Gold? Hello?β
