I’ve spent the last week as a student participant in TMP and there’s been a lot going on!
I was pleasantly surprised at how seriously all of these professionals took the training and classroom sessions. I thought TMP was a program that companies sent their employees to pretty casually, but it was awesome to see everyone truly enjoy being there and wanting to get the most out of whichever courses they were taking.
I learned a lot from spending so much time with these people. It reminded me that these professionals are also human. They’re not scary people who have the potential to hire you; they’re humans who want to tell you about their kids, share a funny story, learn about college students’ lives, joke around, eat good food, not be pressured into networking, take selfies, pose for prom-esque pictures, and much more. They were all so supportive and appreciative of what us undergrads had to offer, so that was really heartwarming too.
I was also reminded that I mostly live in a bubble of college students. When the participants would talk about traveling the world, or buying a car, or buying a house, or raising their teenagers, it was hard to relate but reminded me to appreciate my last year in undergrad.
My fellow student participants were also WONDERFUL and I’m so glad we got to meet each other. Especially in engineering we tend to stick to our friends that we see all the time in class, but it was fun to branch out with such amazing people.
I’ll make another post with what I learned in each of the classes that I took, but for now I’m ending the week on a positive note--with my heart comforted, with my brain full, and with my willpower itching to have an awesome senior year.
(This week my roommate stopped by the apartment for two days and just CLEANED! Thank goodness for her. I’m ready to make the apartment feel homey :))

It was pretty foggy in the morning, but the sun came out by lunch time to welcome the families with some classic LA sunshine. My parents were super nice and had tons of questions about UCLA, so I had a fun day too.
The summer flew by--I can't believe I'll be back in class in two weeks. I already got sad about it being my last year of undergrad, but my goal this year is to really take care of myself and enjoy everything I'm involved in on campus.
