Is there anything in your religious beliefs or upbringing that doesn’t align with the kink/sub/poly part of your life? How have you come to terms with those differences?
I was brought up Roman Catholic, so my entire relationship with @droppinby is probably going to send me to hell. The fact that I use birth control (Mirena IUD), have sex for pleasure and not just procreation, have anal and oral sex, and occasionally dress immodestly are also flames in the lake of fire for me.
I have truthfully struggled with religion and faith at times, but I eventually realized I can have a relationship with God while not following everything the Catholic Church believes. My relationship with God is mine and mine alone. When I am called home to face my maker I imagine the conversation will go like this:
Me: Oh, wow, ok, pearly gates. Kinda glad that’s where I’m at right now. Was a tad worried tbh.
God: You’re not inside them yet Missy. We have some things to discuss.
Me: Look, I can explain….I was 16. Drugs were a thing…
God: I’m not talking about the pot.
Me: Oh, shoot, well I asked forgiveness when I lied to my mom that time. I repented , so I thought I was good….I really didn’t mean….
God: No, not those little white lies…
God: Tell me child - were you happy? Were you doing my work? Were you trying to live your life in my image?
Me: Lord, I am a failiable being, imperfect and flawed. I am selfish, I have lied, I have sinned, I have cursed you and yelled angry epitaphs at you. I have failed to pray frequently enough (unless it was for a self serving desire), I have failed to praise you as often as is proper, and I have failed to defend you when the opportunity arose. In short, I’ve been a wretched, petulant child who is not deserving of your love.
But Lord, I made others happy in their lives. I imparted knowledge of you on my offspring and showed them how to talk to you. I fed the hungry, housed the homeless and clothed those who had nothing. I lived by your tenant that what I did for the least of these is what I did for you. I loved my spouse @thecomicbookj with all that I had and prayed for him as frequently as I prayed for anything. I loved my second partner @droppinby as well and often felt you had sent her just for me because you knew how good she would be for me. (You did didn’t you?).
Lord. I can only hope and pray that by your amazing grace that has been enough.
God: My child, you are a sinner, imperfect and flawed. But you are MY sinner, made exactly as I wanted flaws and all. You are MINE and there was never any question that this is where you belong.
